I'm geezin', so nowadays it's 10 over with a baby seat in the back.

I usually do 10-12 over with the cruise on. Out of state I usually do 75-85 depending on the posted limit.

I may do the A/C pipe insulation mod. Even though my A/C is cold, I looked at it and it just seems it could be more efficient.

    If so, I'll share photos.

Well, it's not a picture of my Forester, but a picture of somewhere I took my Forester recently. It's Half Dome in Yosemite National Park as viewed from Glacier Point.

Ken- Great photo! Looks just like a postcard.
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Thanks for the compliments. Only if Subaru offerd a low range could I have scrambled up Half Dome! ;-)

Here's a shot from Sentinel Dome of Half Dome and the infamous "tree".

Wow, I could just sit there for hours looking at that scenery. How hard is it to get hotels there on the fly? This weekend!

I hear ya! Certainly makes me want to go back.

Ken- didn't Yosemite recently institute restrictions on how many people they allow into the valley?

Greg -- Mid summer weekends might be hard, but if it's just one person, you might be able to swing it. I was told that business is a little slow this year so you might be in luck. The best is if you can get a place in Yosemite Lodge and be right there in the valley. The Awahnee is a bit pricey. I always stay in the Yosemite West condos right near where Glacier Point road breaks off from Highway 41.

Frank -- Not yet. Those plans are in the works, but we won't see them for some time. I'm kind of torn between knowing what's best for nature and having easy access to my favorite National Park.

You be using the OB for Rally-X?

Gonna wreck that beautiful car of yours!

I've thought about it...Absolutely next time out we're running some big ol' honkin flaps. That we recieved no nicks from churned up rock is pure dumb luck. We'll also be running steelies with L-81s next time too, so that saves the alloys. My front and rear bumpers are subjected to more risk parking in an east-coast urban enviro than a few tall weeds offer, so I am not too worried about that, either. Especially now that I work on the street, and spend the entire day driving Baltimore in the GT. Dunno Mike.......hey there is an old GL hatch for sale in the area for $500; maybe that would make a nice rallycrosser.

That Outback looks like it wants to drive all the way up there! :-)

Loosh: great pix. I love how in the first one you appear to have more power to the rear wheels, kicking up dirt. Then, in the 2nd pic, you can tell the AWD system transfered power forward to pull you out of the drift so the front wheels are kicking up some serious debris.

    Schweet!

    thanks, y'all.....

RallyCross Master??? I wish. Results from this one are not in yet, but I am currently tied for 8th out of 10 championship slots in class. My best time for this one was 2:07:04; a rallispec-prepped RS ran 2:02. And this monster driver from NY named Otis turned in an astounding 1:54 in a stock RS with rally tires. So master I am not; all hail Otis.

    Thanks anyway, though :))

Cool. What tires were you running?

Was it the stock suspension? How'd the car handle compared to your Outback?

    -juice
  • lucien2lucien2 Member Posts: 2,984
all stock, although in september I will be on Michelin L-81s and steel rims, ala SubieGal. Less glass in back means the rear end isn't as prone to roll, even with the difference in swaybars....the car feels shorter as a result. I don't really want to lower the car much, so I have resisited tweaking the suspension so far. I wish I could get a hold of springs with a stiffer rate but without drop, and combine them with GR2s or AGXs. The RE92s are o.k. I guess, but I am really looking forward to new street tires.

That said, I suspect the Ecstas will suck in snow, and I don't know if I wanna fork it out for 2 sets of new tires- snow and street.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Did you have a fatter sway bar in back?

Colin had mentioned an $800 coilover setup with adjustable height settings. This may be good for you given your varying needs (autocross, rallycross, and street). I forget the name now, but it was discussed in Mods, I think.

I think Ground Control makes one of the best coil-over/adjustable height spring setups.

Beautiful photo, Ken. Is Bridalveil Falls tucked away in the cloud?

  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Thanks. Actually, you're looking at El Capitain with it's head in the clouds.

The white strip you see down the side of El Capitan is snow.

shhhh....don't tell her she early apexed; I am using this photo as documentary proof we need AGXs :p

We did o.k., but nowhere near competative in STS. Kirst did pummel some guy in a Mustang GT, though.

Frederick- Harry Grove Stadium. I have put in for one this sunday, but haven't heard if I/we are in. Would like to do 2 back to back like this....Labor Day on RE92s, 9/9 on S-O3 Pole Positions, just to get an idea how dramatic the diff is.
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
You mean you might get closed out? That sux. Here in NY/NJ/PA there is usually no limit (we've ran 150+ cars in NJ this year)

Ken - your pic is impossible to beat, but I'll try anyway.

This is sunset on the Ocracoke Island Ferry to Hatteras. Note the gorgeous curves. The sensuality. The beauty!

Oh, and my wife, the sea gulls, and that sunset are also nice! ;-)
