Hey, how many times did we talk about a car that was big enough to fit your instrument inside?

to get to work, but probably should so you don't get fired... speaking of which, a blue screen of death awaits me...

Actually, paisan and I are chatting in the Meet the Members topic right now...

I was surprised at how well the clutch held up. No problems here. Just give it 2500rpms or more, let it out slow. No bogging down, clutch chatter, nothing.

I'll have to check the tires, but the ride was fine. The only thing that felt unusual was braking - it felt like two efforts, slow the Forester first, then a 2nd effort to slow the trailer. What would peeve me was slow cars pulling in front of me.

I would definitely do it again. $60 for 6 yards, vs. $200+ for the same amount in bags from Home Depot.

are you still considering a Class I size trailer, or would you consider a Class II size (like mine) trailer?

The Class II trailer will be several hundred dollars more, and will probably weigh perhaps(?) 75 - 100 pounds more. It's also much more versatile, because of the extra capability.

In either case, you don't have to build the sides as high as mine, thereby saving some weight and lumber costs.

I'm undecided. I'll check one out in early June when we go up to Cunningham Falls (and that trailer dealer you mentioned).

Right now I'd lean towards the 5'x8' with rear ramp/door, which is about $550 IIRC. Then I'd add 3 or 4' walls. How tall are yours?

I may call and ask what those weigh.

30" sides. The wood is 6" deck planking (on the sides—not the front or rear, which is thinner outdoor plywood), and I've got them stacked 5 high.

Wow, guess it's off the ground so they seem a lot taller.

    -juice
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
from the ground it is closer to 4' if not more.

...at first glance, I thought it was a cat also...contemplating its good fortune at having a HUGE litter box on wheels. :-)

Edmunds should create a "Subaru Towing Crew" topic folder just for us trailer freaks. It'll at least make Loosh happy :-{)

Boy, no wonder we had to allow for dogs and cats in the demographics!

Definitely a doggie. 12 lbs, 7 years old, very sweet (never biting), and very smart and athletic. He can jump through hula-hoops, even over a 4 foot fence. Heck, he can even claw his way up a 6 foot fence if there's a female doggie on the other side!

Absolutely loves riding in the Subie. He used to get car sick, but not any more. Guess the smooth ride appeased his usual motion sickness.

    I love trailers... :)

    No wife, no cry.

Although like Juice, my boss isn't overly happy :)

ah, he gave up on me long time ago... ;-) There's an old 8mm family movie where I (a 3yr old back then) angrily tear apart a cute doll given me by a guest, and then proceed to hijack a toy car (someone else's gift). I've got better since then but still...
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Oh yes, let us not forget the female contingent!

Hey, that gives me a great idea. I have to load up our toddler with toy cars. I'm telling you, when she's ten she'll be helping me bleed my brakes!

Sounds a bit like you ought to post a close-up of the dog to prove its canine-ness. (I thought it was a cat, too, when I looked at the trailer photo.)

I swear he barks! Though it sounds more like Dino, the Flintstones' dinosaur. Wo wo wo!

That other dog looks like he's smiling! Did you drive to the beach in your Soob with the windows open?

she had her snout out part of the way...we were the only Legacy down there. What is really funny is that Susan just discovered the joys of the moonroof...before that it was 'I don't need that but it comes with the car". She let Michael sit in the front the other day so he could put his arms out the top and wave.

And as the owner of a dachshund and a Welsh cardigan corgi (aka, the type of corgi with a tail and truly huge ears), I'm certainly not in a position to make jokes about the size or relative goofiness of any dog.

Better than new with the painted sideskirts!

Lisa's Miata is a 2000 base+susp and it's allllll black. Impossible to keep clean in this dusty state.

    Colin,

Great pics. I'm glad to hear they did a good job. Silver can be tough to blend in.

Did you have 'before' pictures to share -- don't remember if you posted those.

Hey, now you can install that Kartboy!

    Uh, I burned those.

Just kidding, I'll find one. I know I have a digital image of it somewhere, but the good ones are of the standard 35mm 4x5 variety and I'd have to dig for that and scan it in too.
