I know, I tested it myself. I think when I set up the album I hit the box that says only for invited guests or something. Any idea how to change it? I'm having no luck.

As I mentioned earlier, most have probably seen some of these pics but wanted to share nonetheless now that I have them all in one spot.

Juice: Finally included pics of painted side sills.

Sounds like a rewrite of "The Night Before Christmas": "Come Blitzen, Come Blitzen, Blitzen, & Blitzen..."

Or maybe a law firm of quadruplets....

    Cheers!

Nice to know you're still in rare form (or maybe not so rare?) :-)

Brian: I know what you mean. After the Mt St Helens run I was smellin' rally bread and seeing visions of clipboards and stop watches in my head for a couple of days. :-)

I tried going into the link again and it was fine. The first time I tried posting I forgot that I had the album set to private. I changed it to public viewing and reposted. Brian got in ok too. Anyone have any ideas?? :-(

I like your pictures in the desert, I've been thinking about taking a trip out there again. What part of Anza-Borrego was that in your picture? I nalso noticed you had an RC glider, how were the slopes out there? The few times I've been there, it was at night, so I didn't really get to see what the place looks like. But I was hoping to make another trip out there by the end of the year.

Great pixs, thanks Brian for enabling us to see them.

    Cheers Pat.

Nice desert pix. Looks like fun.

Stephen: those side sills look great. Visually lower the car, big time.

Juice: That's exactly what I thought about the sills swap. In fact a couple of people at the August event asked me how much I had lowered the car! I think Subaru should have these std on the WRX as it really pulls the fluidity of the design together, IMHO.

Pat: Thanks for comment on the pics. Wish you all could have gone on the St Helen's fun run. It wasn't all about rapid speeds on challenging roads. A lot of folks in our group took a bit less rapid mode of cruising. We all regrouped at various stages. You should have seen the poor waitresses at the little diner on the way up as we all filed into the small dining space. One of the gals said she was just commenting how slow the day was...oops. :-)

Subearu - didn't air down the tires a bit. Thought about it, but decided to just bull my way in a see what happened, figuring the Jeep was handy to get me out of trouble. As it turned out, wasn't needed.

Ducktapeguy - we camped in Palm Canyon campground, no reservations needed in July. RC glider is set up at a spot just over the Imperial County line, heading east on the northern road past Peg Leg monument. The last photo was taken at the end of the wash at Font's Point. I haven't done any slope soaring in Borrego yet, it was just too darn hot to climb that hill in the background. I did use a high-start to lift the glider, but never accomplished much.

Borrego is worth a trip at any time of the year. The campground gets crowded at this time, I prefer the summer when I have it practically to myself. But I plan another trip myself this coming January.

You might try going in the spring when the wildflowers are in bloom. Fantastic sight!

Barresa62 - what is the occasion of all the Subarus on the mountain. Looks like fun in the rain.

This was comprised of mostly folks from the NW i-club chapter and a couple of folks from the Vancouver BC chapter. Several folks had taken this drive before and suggested we do a fun run to Windy Ridge on St Helens (about 7000ft). Most of the participants were from the Seattle/Puget Sound area and a few from the Portland area. Well, as you can see, the day was wet! What you don't see is the fog present on the ridge. Visibility was terrible. All and all it was perfect Soobie weather. :-)

    It goes like this:

6 Subies were supposed to come to our event, but it snowed. So 12 showed up! ;-)

Here are some pics from our recent trip into the mountains of Virginia:

and here's a sunset shot that came out pretty good:

I did most driving on backroads, and the Outback was awesome. Nice balance of supple ride and decent handling. Also got to do a little light off-roading, and had a blast.

Craig - ah yes, Skyline Drive. Did it in the Forester 10/15. I sent one pic to juice as evidence that I installed the Forester GT/STi grille. I have those Yakima round bars, too, but I usually leave both them and the OEM bars off if I'm not planning on hauling anything.

Looks like you were out there near the peak of fall foliage, Ed! There were not many leaves left during our trip, but a certain type of tree (not sure which one) had bright yellows everywhere. It really looked nice out there.

That sunset shot I took looks much brighter on my PowerBook screen compared to my monitor at work. I might need to do a little touchup with PhotoShop. I really wish I thought to put the parking lights on. That would have looked cool.

I forgot to mention -- I usually take the crossbars off too, just to reduce the noise. I have found that you can reduce the "kazoo" noise quite a bit by wrapping a bungee around the crossbars barber-pole style, but of course I forgot to do that for this trip -and- I left the rack keys at home. So, I got to listen to that fun rack noise for all 600 miles of the trip . . .

    Craig
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That wrapping creates a "periodic vortex shedding" that stops the whistling noise.

    I just love that phrase!

Nice pics...man, do I miss mountains and turning leaves. Here in south Florida, the only mountains we have are the overpasses of the Florida Turnpike, and the only way the leaves turn is dead! I am jealous...time to move to a real state!

I loved the pictures. Your's is the second OB I have seen with pinstripes. I think it really adds to the car, making it seem a little more sporty. BTW, your significant other has that "there he goes again with the car" look on her face. :)

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587

Yeah, my wife was getting sick of all the car photos. If you think she had that "look" on her face in the other photos, check this out:

    http://homepage.mac.com/craig_hunter/sig_other.jpg

This is after 5-6 car photos, and a stop at the Apple orchard where my wife predictably stepped into a hole in the ground and tripped. Luckily, I wasn't holding her hand, so I didn't get dragged down like usual (this happens several times a year). Of course, I thought the whole thing was rather hilarious . . . .

Now that you mention it, Greg, I had forgotten I even had pinstripes on the Outback! They were on the car when I bought it, and I assumed they were standard equipment since the dealer didn't try to mark up the price for them (though they did attempt to charge me $1200 for a paint protection package). But sure enough, the Outback brochure doesn't show any pinstripes. How about that. Now I will have to look closer -- if they were dealer installed, I bet they are crooked as heck . . .

Time for a "caption contest." My entry:

Craig, if I've told you once, I told you a thousand times, don't ..."

I can't remember what my wife was yelling at me, except for the fact that it's usually like a hail of gunfire when she gets going. She's usually half mad, half teasing me, but it has the desired effect -- I either duck for cover, or fall in line like a good little soldier. I think she inherited that talent from her mom, because I have seen her pull out the big guns too, sending men running in all directions . . .

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Just keep everything in the car stored and out of sight so she has no ammo to throw at you.

Don't ask me how I know.

I noticed she is in the passenger's seat as opposed to the driver's seat. My caption - "You and this _____ car! You care more about it than me!"

P.S. My caption is from experience.

makes me wonder what the cabin filters look like in our OB.

looks like I'll be checking that this weekend.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    That's Sandro's Outback.

Funny thing is my Forester's filter was very clean after about a year. I guess the moral of the story is at least check it. I vacuumed mine since it seemed like a waste to toss it.
