Paint might add a small amount of weight but just think of the improvement in aerodynamics of a painted and waxed body shell cf. a rough primed one.
Congrats,

I can't wait to get the car really tweaked

We could ask Mike to do a top speed and/or coast-down test before and after paint to know for sure! Actually, I have been testing vehicles in a full scale wind tunel over the past couple months -- what we really need is to get some tunnel time for FrankenL!!

Thanks for all the support folks. It's been a long haul to go from auto-xing my '88 XT6 in a parking lot in camden, NJ to road racing an impreza. Special thanks to:
SOA- Mostly Patti for her continued support for my efforts and never letting me giveup or sellout to a Hondah or other make! http://www.Subaru.com
RacingBrake- Our primary sponsor, always providing at-cost pricing on our brake rotors and pads for the team and supplying replacement parts at all our track days when we need them, lending a hand, and joinging us for meals ont he road. http://www.Racingbrake.com
AZP Installs- Stores our cars, works on the cars, and helps us get tires and parts at cost or takeoff from customer cars.

The team provided great pit and prep work on the cars. You guys here have followed the saga of the Impreza L from inception to race and always provide the moral support in my efforts to become a race car driver! Hopefully I can inspire some other folks here to get out and HPDE/Auto-x/Road Race. Thanks again.

If you had an Excursion, you could not open the doors. Guess you'd have to climb out the moonroof. :-)

To be honest I'd still lean towards an F-XT MT5 if I were to buy today, but my wife would want a Legacy 2.5i Limited. Sedan/auto.

See I told you the 20% wasn't too dark. ;-)
BTW, I asked my dealership to tuck the blue cable from the subwoofer under the carpet and they gave me some schpiel about it needing to be loose so it could move with the seat or something. The more I think about it the more I think this is a load of malarky. Are they just lazy? Maybe I should post a question to Patti since it seems they are all coming like this (there were two other GT's in the showroom with subs and the cable visible).
Thought I'd say something here because I remember you saying they tucked yours out of site for you.
Sorry for the rant. Your wagon looks fantastic!
Cheers!

You were absolutely right. I'm glad I went with 20%. BTW, how did your "dot matrix" turn out. I'm refering to the black ceramic dots on the edge of the cargo area windows. Film tint typically doesn't adhere to the dots well and leaves a white ring around the main window portion. I've had some luck massaging the film down with my finger.
That's a load the dealer is feeding you about the blue cable. I personally think the installation process at the port is flawed and that the blue cable should be tucked under the cable. Since the subwoofer does not move with the seat, the cable can be stationary.
My dealer was able to re-route the cable with no problem. I later went back and examined what they did. It appears they unplugged the unit, opened the center console (remove parking brake cover, remove two screws in storage compartment, plug up two tabs) and just tucked the wire down along the other wires that feed power to the seat.
Ken
The instructions say to route the cable above the carpet. Having heard Ken complain about the look and having a touch of OCD, I decided to route it under the carpet. There is actually a hole in the carpet under the seat. I used a HVAC tie-wrap (about 1/2" wide and 2' long) as a fish line between the center console and the floor, and then pulled the harness through. Because of the foam padding they use under the carpet, it was a real pain (lot of friction), but I finally got the wire through and placed.
It would be cake to do this with the seat removed, but it's definitely a bear with the seat in place. There is very little clearance between the seat and console. And of course, I disconnected the battery so there was no moving the seat! In fact, I can't bolt the sub down until I finish the install and reconnect the battery.
Given my experience, it's understandeable why they don't route the cable under the carpet at the port. It takes way too long. What they really need to do is replace the harness cover with a flat black wrapping instead of the bright blue. My WRX had a black sub harness routed above the carpet and I never noticed it.
Craig
I have never installed anything above the carpet. that's awful!

Odos are funny things. When I hit 100,000 on my Forester I almost expected bells and whistles to go off with confetti falling from the ceiling.
