So ya wanna see what the back seat looks like folded flat? Go look at the middle seat of a 3 seat Suburban...... its the same seat and same back doors.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
The burb I saw had 2nd row buckets...and they were useless when folded....as the entire frame stayed there....and the seats folded in opposite directions..

Dealer has a crew in stock....gonna take a looksee tonight

I'VE HEARD YOU CAN TRACK A NEW TRUCK IF YOU HAVE A VIN NUMBER DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE.. I ORDERD A 2500HD 8.1 IN NOV AND LAST WEEK TEST DROVE A DURMAX AND CHANGED MY ORDER IN FAVOR OF THE DURMAX.....
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
drove the new crew cab finally....had a 6.0 4:10 combo....I have driven the 8.1/Allison ..but in an Ex.Cab.....6.0 seems ok..I'd like to drive an 8.1 CC though..

Rode even better than my current 2K 2500....and I was very happy with the way the seats would fold flat..unlike a Burb that creates a tee-pee effect without removing the head rests....

I may have me a new comb?

    Now to take a looksee...

    Nicer Front end:
    image

Kinda a Tank though...but rear doors that are actually usefull in a parking lot:
    image

I always like taking pics from this angle for some reason....looks meaner!:
    image

I can Live with these wheels/tires:
    image

Didn't know they had window locks now:
    image

    Aux.Lamps moved over to Radio...sorry Ryan..no Autotrac!:
    image

What it had on it...any takers let me know and I will do some contacting for you:
    image

A Real Back seat.....standing next to the opening...the floor step was above my knee cap!...and I am 6'3"..running boards would help..although I managed fine:
    image

First stage of the fold down...nice to have seating still...and a Keg will nestle nicely between the brackets!..other side does same as well:
    image

The final Phase...there is more room to the right you don't see...and the space is only cut by the one seat thickness..unlike an ex.cab with the seat and back part....:
    image

Nice ride I have to say....although an LT is more me...and what color I really don't know yet?....The blue does look nice when clean and closer up I admit.

I have some thinking to do for a few months now.

Damn Tim did you rent the thing for the day?

NICE TRUCK did you ask him about a trade?

I dont know if i could trade my truck for it but if i could buy another id definitly get one o those. Same color too. Probably all the same options it had.

  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
cause it don't got no fog lights, no wood trim on the dash, and worst of all it's got those damn black fender flares. Makes me sick looking at it. They pretty much destroyed the truck with those flares. It would be completely useless if it had those cab lights......I think it would be a perfect replacement for Al Bundy's Dodge Duster.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
So now it's a 3/4 ton? What happened to the Tahoe? I mean you can get the Tahoe with flares can't you? LMAO!!
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    LOL

...My sales guy wasn't there and another guy gave me a plate and the keys and off I went!....

Took it home....brought the digital out.....went back to dealer..I drove it about 15 miles all in all....rides very nice On highway too....

I am really considering this for next time now....although it makes parking worse, not that I can't handle it though....

Crew wheelbase and cab (duh) is 11.5 inches longer than an ex. cab.....the seat was in the positon for me..and it still went back quite a bit...so I'd imagine some of the 11.5 is in the front...while the bulk is in the rear...

If you got one like it without the 130 amp alt...snow plow prep..and locker....ya could save even more!

Anyone know how much structural integrity is lost by installing a moon roof in a crew cab?.....I'd go for that for sure....

I can get you an exact price babs on that truck monday when I price out an LT for me......although I don't see you trading yours in....I mean you still have to get used to going from an s-10 to an Ado Ex.cab!

    LOL

I went from car...to a reg cab SB....ex.cab SB..now perhaps a crew SB.....ain't going beyond that though.....the crew SB is a few inches shorter than an ex.cab LB...which I always said was too long and too much like a grandpa truck!

(no offense to all who have them.....we buy what we need..)

Nice Truck and Pics TIM, I told you the back seat folded down well. I have been in a Crew Cab but haven't test drove a GM. Have a ford but not a GM. Looks like the truck that Babs would want, really sharp truck with a locker too. I think 255x85R16 would be the best size tire. The 265 are almost too wide to do really well in the snow with the Michelen AT. In 8" crusted snow it is hard to keep the truck on a 10' Wide Oil Field rode. Wants to slide around too much. Think the taller 255 would be the ticket. Anyways still wish GM could get in some Crew Cabs. Still looks like parents are gonna buy a crew cab ford. :(

Start Class again Tuesday, when do you start or have you RYAN.

    I go back tuesday night

Im not getting rid of my truck anytime soon Tim just planning ahead so to speak. At least my gf still puts up with me going past the chevy dealership and hanging my head out to look at all the new trucks.

Dean the tahoe would be for a family vehicle. But hey a crew cab would work the same plus the bed. I still have a few yrs.

    Ryan
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    work for a family??

Father in laws Ford crew cab for the back seat sucks....the 95 tilts forward and rools a bit forward to access the tray behind it....that's it!....does not fold at all.....the 3001 only tilts back a tiny bit to access the tray behind the seat...talk about useless......although the truck itself is nice..

he slaps a big old cap on his anyway...ickkk!

    - Tim

...You get a tahoe Ryan and we may have to shun you out of here.....LOL
  • hunter98hunter98 Member Posts: 273
Hey the Crew Cab short bed is alot cheaper than the Tahoe or Surburban anyways. A 2wd SLT GMC 1500 list pushes 40 grand. Think what you can get in a truck for that.

    Pickups forever

  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
..and make that a 2001....not 3001 for the Ford..

    dohh

    - Tim
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
How much have you been drinking i said the crew would be the same as the tahoe plus it would have a bed which would make it more functional. I would definitly get a CC over a tahoe.

    Ryan
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
way you drive an ex.cab..perhaps a Tahoe would be better?

Ryan, don't feel bad. You should have seen what my aunt did when we were in oregon. We were coming back from seeing cast away in two cars. She was driving my grandpa's explorer, and I was driving my dad's truck. We stopped to pickup a pizza while she and everybody else in the explorer continued home. When we finally got home, she was putting the explorer in the garage when the dogs got out. She and my uncle are HUGE dog lovers, so she hopped out of the car to catch them and forgot to put the car in park. When she realized she jumped out of a moving car she tried to run after it, but it was too late. It ran into my grandpa's garage and hit the wall. She ended up getting her hand pinned in the door as the side of the car was gouged up against a table. The drivers side door was all banged in. HOW STUPID!!!

Anybody know if the vinyl rear seat folds up on the new HD2500 crew cabs? Somebody over at pickup.com said you lose the arm rests with vinyl but you still get head rests. Hoping the seat folds up like Tim's earlier pictures showed on the blue LS CC.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
it had the outside arm rests on the doors?.....what else is there?

    - Tim
  • sf0383sf0383 Member Posts: 204
Doesn't the rear seat in the crew cabs have a fold down center arm rest with drink holders?
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    ya know....I didn't even look?

unless it's very tightly fitting in the seat.....I didn't see it?

The seat back folded down in one section..(the section with armrest if it has one)..or it wasn't even there?

Now I gotta go back to the dealer...

    GRRRRR

I called my dealership today for the 15th or so time and was told that Chevrolet pulled my order today (they received it Nov. 2)and I should expect the truck 2nd week of Feb.. I also noticed at the wheels.com site that Chevrolet may be shutting some plants down for a couple of weeks so mine will probably be one of them.
  • 4x44x4 Member Posts: 114
i guess by now you have seen my truck over and over again so no need to repost it..

my father in law has the exact truck you posted pics of..LS trim and same color interior..he also has got the fold down arm rest/drink holder...

still haven't seen a vinyl crew cab though..
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
a Brochure and it shows the cloth and leather interior of a CC....and yep...it would have folded down right with the seat...

    I'm a CC newbie!..leave me alone!

    LOL

The drink holders appear to be gone in the CC on the doors....so I guess it's holders in the arm rest....as well as 2 more right in front of you in the fold open rear of the front console...

You need to get that crew cab to fill up that shed of yours. :) I could see you with that big black hood bulge and Cab lights. Just thought I would try and respark this topic.

    Have a great week

Anybody have a clue about how to disconnect this irritating Bong Bong noise that comes out of my 2001 Sierra 2500HD 4WD? In past Sierras I always disabled the switch in the door jamb, but it is apparently electronic now. The salesman assured me the service people in the shop would know how. Nothing but blank stares from them. Anybody out there have a clue?

Topic 'Chevy Silverado-Continued XVIII' Post 864 by trw3.

With the HD orders extending 5 months and longer currently I plan on asking the same question as trw3 - 'So Now-What are you going to do for me?' and remind them of the LC's.

Also GM has sent these out in the past to GM owners just to increase sales. Friend had one last year so don't let the Factory Rep play Dumb!!

Also some one posted long time ago somewhere that FORD had made special compensations like paid for dealer options when unit exceeded normal delivery expectations.

    Wasn't the 8.1 a $600 option MSRP?

I just priced one at the dealer and the 8.1 is now $850 MSRP on top of the 6.0

I haven't looked at the board for about a week. I just wandered how your meeting with the dealer and the rep. went on Monday? Did they have any comments/questions on the voucher? Sorry I wasn't able to fax a hard copy of my certificate to you ( a little positve renforcement never hurts)but my dealer got the cert. and my letter is long gone in the circular file.

Just a little poll on mileage....How many miles do you guys have on your trucks, what kind of driving are you doing, and what kind of mpg's in 2wd and 4wd. Mine is just getting ready to turn 2000 miles and is still getting 9.5 in 4wd and 11.2 - 11.3 in 2wd. No towing yet, open road driving 60-65mph with the cruise on. Thanks in advance for your replies. I just want to know if mine is out of line. Gas is $1.55-$1.79 gal. here in east central IL.
  • hunter98hunter98 Member Posts: 273
Do you farm, that is awefully good ground in that area compared to what we have to work with in southern Il. What do you do?

  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
Nickel and diming for $50 when you're thinking of spending a whole chunk of change? Maybe you'd better buy it now before it goes from $800 to $ 850 to $875. LOL!! Better hurry....
  • n75v111n75v111 Member Posts: 243
Salesman in hospital so working with dealer order coordinator. Said he would have the FR give me a call but hadn't seen him since before X-mas. Asked for FR phone # but he kinda laughed said better not as could really get him in trouble.

The $1000 loyalty cert deal is kinda interesting as i was relaying all the LR information to friend found out that GM mailed them out as promotion about a year ago to already GM owners.

Right now have LR request into the Silverao Sales Planner to see if he can bypass dealer/FR on it.
His last email told me he was going to see if he could 'pull my order together'. Dealer has NO ALLOCATION now for HD LT 4x4 XC SB with 8.1/alli. so don't know whats going to happen if GM all the sudden schedules 8.1 over to them in Feb or March.

    $250 isn't nickel and dime....not like I care anyway...but it's just not right!
    LOL

I have to convince myself to get 285's or 305's...then I have a "need" for the 8.1.....wish the Allison wasn't needed..GRRRR

    ..and NO I don't want a manual...

    - Tim
  • sf0383sf0383 Member Posts: 204
I remember the salesman telling me when I ordered mine that the prices on the HD's were going up after the first of the year. So I'm hoping I don't get any surprises when the invoice shows up. I have the original quote so I should be OK.
  • hunter98hunter98 Member Posts: 273
The 8100 is worth getting so you can get the Allison. Don't you want a tranny that will hold up? I have experienced blowing the accumulator piston out the side of the houseing. I want the allison for the durability, strength and the extra gear. Get the big tires and go with the 4.10's and you will have an awesome truck. In black of course, without cab lights :). LOL

    Hunter
  • sf0383sf0383 Member Posts: 204
but can you really tell that much of a difference between a 4.10 and 3.73? And if so, where is it most noticeable? Low end acceleration or high end rpms? I've never compared so I don't pretend to know
