quarter windows if you want to...just watch the drivers and passengers...over 35%....cops pull you over and you are the new owner of a ticket plus have to remove the tint....total waste of time and money.

If it's 35%...it's 35%. The quarters are more like 25% to which I added another 35% on the rear to make it pretty dark.

I took my 2001 Z71 out in the California desert yesterday and at 65-75 MPH it started making a flute type sound in the cab. It only did it when the temp was in the high 90's. There is a TSB (01-06-02-002) for a whining heater system on a 8.1 but not the 5.3

    Anyone else had this problem?

I am thinking about getting a topper for the rado? Does anyone have any opinions as to which one they prefer and why? I was thinking about getting a insta-top.

If your truck has factory flares, then you can get mud flaps from the dealer that work. The old flat flap is no longer available, but there are two types of contoured flaps. My dealer sells them and both are available with a bowtie or the GMC logo. One type will fit trucks with flares, the other kind won't. The one type that will work with flares comes in two widths...9.5" and 11.5". Definitely go with the 11.5" ones. The 9.5" flaps may be as wide as your tire, but when mounted, will be offset by about an inch. Hope this helps.

  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240

Let me know how it goes and what needs to be done

What size tires? Id keep em at 35
  • grnsilveradogrnsilverado Member Posts: 23
The guys at Rhino are going to install my toolbox for me for free, because I bought the toolbox and bedrail caps from them. They will install it on Wednesday, when the caps come in. I have 16 inch tires, I just think the guy was full of [non-permissible content removed] telling me to inflate to 40lbs psi
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
i thought you got your toolbox at home depot?

Thanks for the info on the mud flaps. I had a feeling that my dealer was full of it. I will take it back to the dealership I bought my truck from (about an hour away).

And yes I do have the factory flares.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • svoma123svoma123 Member Posts: 33
Does the wheel flares for the rado get put on at the dealer or the factory? My father-in-law says that he thinks they get put on at the dealer and not the factory. I say the factory puts them on before delevery to dealer!
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
The flares are a factory option and are std on 2500 and 1500HD trucks. They are in fact put on at the factory. $180 option for 1500 trucks

You can however buy them through your dealership and have them install them but itll cost you.

about 95% of the trucks you see with flares i bet are installed from the factory.

    Hope this helps

I was just looking at the putc message board and I came across a website with somebodies truck. They did what I would call "small detailing" work to their truck. Things like, painting the bowtie on the grill to match the color of the truck, and they painted some stuff under the hood. Little things that don't take alot of money but make the truck stand out. It looked really nice, I am planning on doing some of the stuff to my truck...well this got me thinking of little things that I could do and I thought about my nerf bars. They are black but I was thinking about having them painted pewter, my truck is pewter on the bottom and carmine on top. I can't really make up my mind about it, I like the black, what do you guys think?

    Ryan,

Do you know that guy Tom with the painted engine compartment. Does he come on here? I'd like to ask him if he did any prep to the plastic before painting it. I would assume that you would need to do something or the paint will peel pretty quick?

    Thanks,

I did something similar on my Sierra. Painted the TB cover, electronics box cover, and part of the air box cover. All I did was wipe the dust off with a dry cloth (lazy). No peeling after about a month. I actually painted it two diff times and the 1st hadn't peeled either. Can't find Polo Green in a spray can, that's why twice. Fist time wasn't even metallic but this one's close. Sure is tuff to get get a nice smooth finish with a spray can!

    'Knight Rider' Returns

Knight Rider will ride again. David Hasselhoff is planning to bring his 1980s hit into the 21st century.

The former Baywatch hunk recently told Entertainment Weekly that Michael Knight is coming out of retirement, hiring a couple of kids, and bringing an updated version of Kitt the talking car back to battle criminals.

"I'll be the older, cool boss who oversees this incredibly updated car," he said.

The original voice of Kitt, Screen Actors Guild President William Daniels, has already committed to the project. His credits also include portraying a teacher on Boy Meets World and an acerbic doctor on St. Elsewhere.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY!!! THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW

    Ryan,
How old were you when Knight Rider was on "prime time"?
I used to think Starsky & Hutch and the Love Boat were great too, that was until I recently watched some old episodes. Not so great now. Gotta dig that music in those old shows though!

i dont know i was young

They used to have reruns till about 3 yrs ago and i used to always watch em. That show never got old.

Great flash back. I had a large night rider toy car. I seen an episode where it got demolished. Well i get a smart idea grab dads hammer ( i was like 5?) and smash the heck out of my car to make it look like it did in the show. Then my mom hollared at me for doing that and asked why i told her thats what happened on tv (OH MY GOD i guess tv does influence kids)

About a wk later i had a new car. One brand new and one destroyed so i could switch back and forth

    Those were the days

If you are going to rotate your tires yourself, you need to get yourself a couple of these....

They would make the job a lot easier, however it looks pretty unsafe if you ask me.
