Manavi said his wife is from Romania and his mother in law makes great sarmale (a type of cabarage rolls).

Now you can all breathe easier. What did you think he was saying?

Actually, I just said a bunch of derogative things about everyone else on this board. Don't you know the first thing you learn when you pick up a new language is the bad words?
  • meinradmeinrad Member Posts: 820
He was saying that the "There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!"

Was better than the first except the end of the movie wasn't conclusive enough. Oh well, I guess we are set-up for X3.

The RX-8 looked and sounded sweet. I hope it sounds that good in real life.

Great movie, some unanswered questions at the end. Difficult to discuss without inserting spoilers :(

The RX-8 looked great speeding down the forest roads! Is the 'X' Mobile phone a standard accessry? What's the part number? ;)

we must question Cyclop's taste in music.

    N'Sync???? what the heck???!?!?

Even I listen to a couple of their tunes.

Wow, 1 million songs sold at Apple's music store in its first week. I think they've hit on a viable business model (I think the only limits are AAC format and you can burn up to 10 CD-Rs from an UNCHANGED playlist from iTunes...I can deal with that...I pretty much can make as many personal-use copies as I want, which is why I've been holding off from buying CDs of late...all those anti-copying schemes...I've noticed some have been skipping or making unpleasant clicking noises...that Cougar sold out, I tell you). GRRRR.
  • meinradmeinrad Member Posts: 820
I think Apples model is pretty good. Once I can buy any song I want for 99 cents I will be pretty happy.

There will always be some who want something for nothing, but a lot of people like me are just jumping for the chance to legally get any song we want at a reasonable price.

For me, that price seems to be 99 cents.

Now if they just get that Windows part here (I read they are planning it), because it doesn't look like my 17" Powerbook is happening any time soon.
  • the_big_hthe_big_h Member Posts: 1,583
and i may open my wallet to actually buy songs off the internet

I placed 2nd out of 802 novices at the Mazda Rev It Up event last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway!

    Just wanted to brag somewhere.

but you still won't be going to Leguna Seca... :-/
  • mazdafunmazdafun Member Posts: 2,329
Wow, they had a lot of participants there. Cool. B)
  • mazdafunmazdafun Member Posts: 2,329
That's cheaper than most CDs. Of course, you don't have the uncompressed version and no disc, but it's better than buying an album just for a couple to few tracks.

I may actually buy music again.
  • dinu01dinu01 Member Posts: 2,586
2nd? So what was your trick?

Did you keep the M6 revved at the redline?

    Dinu
  • manavimanavi Member Posts: 150
I don't know if it was a trick, but while waiting in line for the Brake and Turn clinic (which was useless, BTW), I heard one of the instructors mention that although you need to start out with the transmission in drive you will probably do your best by using the manumatic to put it into second gear right after you start and leave it there the rest of the way.

That worked pretty well. Other than that, just try to drive through the obstacles as fast as possible without touching the cones. Pretty simple concept actually.

Regarding Laguna Seca, my aspirations weren't really that high, since I knew I was competing with drivers that had a lot more experience than me. But, I am proud of how I did in comparison with other newbies, especially considering I had never even driven a Mazda 6s prior to the event.

The number of competitors was for the entire weekend: 1345 total entries with 802 of them classified as novices (meaning no prior experience in autocross events.)

Just found out The Wiggles are coming to Pittsburgh and of course it's already sold out.

My kid loves them. At least he's too young to really care, but he would have had fun.

But if your kids love The Wiggles, check ticketmaster to see if they are coming to your town.

    *sigh*

I guess it is a good time to be a Ducks fan. Sorry Todd, this is not the sports year to be a Minnesota fan I guess.

Just got 7th row seats to see the Wiggles in Dallas!

    Seafood buffet.

The hush puppies were pretty good, but the rest of it was kind of nasty.

Hey Dale, at the risk of sounding like Cliffy from Cheers. Do ya know how hush puppies got their name?

I'll be trading it on a Jetta this weekend anyway.

What kind of interest is VolkswagenUSA offering. I heard you can get a balloon loan at 9% for 3 years and then 21% for the final 10 years? However a $15,000 security deposit and a non-refundable $3,000 acquisition fee is required at delivery. Meade, good luck with your new VeeDub GLX!

Deer damage estimate came to $665.72. Not going in till June 2. So I'll have the pull to the right and the wobbly steering wheel till then.

    Hi!

I found a 91 Tegra w/165kms, 5spd, all power, sunroof, leather. The interior and exterior are in great shape. I drove the car yesterday and it was pretty good.

What things should I look out for? The rad was replaced and it looks like the timing belt was done too. The dealer is removing the usual Honda/Acura rust from above the rear wheel wells and painting the 2 rear panels so they match with the rest of the car. The AC is good, everything seems to work fine. He's fixing the passenger power window - the motor runs and pulls up the window, but the panel might be on too tightly and the window goes up VERY slowly. He said by Friday (tomorow) the car will be ready. I'll go see it Sunday or next Monday. I like the car and the price. And especially the mileage (103K miles).

The head gasket was not replaced. I heard older Integras and Civics LOVE head gaskets? Should I be worried it wasn't done? I remember my older Civic ate 2 of them.

    Thanks for your help!

    Here's the car:

PS: I tried looking for a Protege w/5spd, AC, all power, sunroof, alloys and spoiler, but to no avail (: I feel like a traitor :)

What the heck is a Tegra? Is that some sort of slang for Integra?
  • meinradmeinrad Member Posts: 820
Will get you 20 lashes with a wet piece of rice.
  • dinu01dinu01 Member Posts: 2,586
Paul: A Tegra is an Integra.

Raymond: As for the lashes, I'm still keeping the Protege, so maybe we can make a deal for 10 only???

I'd be suspicious of such an old car with such low mileage. Why was it not being driven?
  • dinu01dinu01 Member Posts: 2,586
Ontario has a database of all cars w/the names, dates and mileage at each transfer of ownership.

I'll call the dealer tomorow and ask for the VIN and go the the Min. of Transportation and get my Used Vehicle Package - see what it says...

My cousin bought a 91 4dr 3 mths ago w/188 kms (117 miles), but he found it privately. Runs well...

    117 miles or 1,000,117 miles?

In the middle of the day?!

Oh what am I going to do?
  • maltbmaltb Member Posts: 3,572
The company I work has a couple less users yet still runs that stuff on non-peak hours. I can see Edmunds is really concerned.
  • maltbmaltb Member Posts: 3,572
The only thing wrong with that truck was its owner...nothing more. Ford makes flawless products that last 500k miles.
  • chikoochikoo Member Posts: 3,008
they will start working today. If the procedure turns out to be flop show, everybody can go home tonight and enjoy the rest of the long weekend in peace.

Imagine if they start tomorrow...long weekend plans go up in smoke :)
  • protegextwoprotegextwo Member Posts: 1,265
Bravo, Malt! I'm tired of that overgrown cabbage lover slamming a perfectly good rebadged Ford Ranger! The best darn truck in the U S of A next to the Ford F-150!

I quote CR; "In a class of a few winners, the Ranger and the similar Mazda B-Series stand out by virtue of their all-around competence."
    -Consumer Report, May 2002

If this guy would stop delivering pizzas and speeding in rain storms maybe his cars would hold up a little better?
