I bought 2006 Acura MDX Touring with NAV and DVD for 40K drive out (2 weeks ago). I know that it's comparing apples to oranges (a redesigned 2007 MDX is coming out soon), but I am sure you will agree with me that Acura MDX is more high-end than Highlander.
An Accura is not a Lexus or Infiniti.
As far as Highlander vs MDX, you are entitled to your opinion. There are people who think Kia and Huyndai are better than Toyota and Honda... may be you all have the same head.
Sorry, I didn't realize you were talking about Hybrid...
The price I stated was out of the door, it includes TTL.
Check out the Highlander Limited and I am sure you will agree there really isn't a dimes worth of difference.....and if you haven't checked the road tests and reliability tests on Kia in the last couple of years, I think you will see they are almost pulling even..... :P
I'm awaiting more quotes but haven't received any others yet. This in the Northwest.
With a $2,600 fed tax credit, plus 0% interest (savings of $3,224 in 36 month loan interest at 4.98%) plus $536 interest earned that saved interest I figure my actual bottom line was $32,358 plus my tax.
It's a manager special ,dealer located in Farmington, Mi.
But...it's Beige color...my wife's favorite
I'm almost ready to buy it...for her.
Car is in excellent conditon, can't find a reason to ask for a lower price. Also, brand new is 7K more...
Need some advice - pros and cons are welcomed.
If is too low- why is that? ( considering the high resale value of Toyota's)
If it's too high- what's the right price??
Thanks,
Dan
Indeed, for my wife , my baby and myself, power is not an issue as gas mileage ,reliability, and comfort are.
I will consider your advice that 17K is a low ( good)price.
Thing is that 17K is my "allocated" budget. Not a penny more
In Mi, we pay 6% sales tax. Adding the T&L fees, REAL OTD price goes way over 18k.
Final shippings of 2006 CRV's are "discounted" at this price, though... with standard CURTAIN/SIDE airbags.
I'll see. Thanks again!
Dan
Thanks a lot.
For a model #6920 (4-cyl, AWD) with PG, MG, FE, SR, AW, & CF, . . .
Miles: 12,000/year
Term: 36 months
MSRP: $28,544. (including destination)
Base Cap Cost: $24,625. (price paid)
Cap Cost Reduction: $0.00
Residual: $15,774 (55.3%)
Money Factor: 0.00001 (or 0.024%)
Monthly Payment: $246.27
Due at singing: $944. (not including Title/Registration)
Acquisition Fee: $400.
1st Month Payment:$246.27
Dealer Docs: $298.
Title/Registration will be my responsibility, but the car will cross state lines and I will need to take care of this at the local town clerk’s office when the dealer shows up with the car on delivery. No sales tax in our state.
Base Capital Cost represents $631 under Edmunds invoice ($1000 under 'dealer invoice’ with advertising fees, etc.).
This is a subsidized lease from Toyota Financial Services, . . . basically a 0% financing program (the total finance charges over the lease term was $14.54). Rebates did not apply to this lease program.
I still believe the residual is $100 low compared to other dealer quotes I got, . . . but overall, this represented the lowest total cost package I could get ($9563.48 total cost without title/registration). I will still follow up with the dealer prior to signing on the residual, . . . I spent a lot of time getting to these numbers and didn’t really feel like arguing any longer over the last $100.
Thought I'd pass this along for others, . . . and comments are welcome. Haven't signed papers yet, . . . but deposit is down to hold the car.
You have a great deal. Enjoy your Highlander!
Toyota is doing a 125 pt check, then I get a 100K Toyota bumper-to-bumper warranty. Deal is $13,900, after being detailed. This is in the Northern Va area, where everything is high. Wha-d-ya-think ?
This one has some nicks on the bumper but otherwise the paint looks fine - and vehicle history looks ok. :confuse:
I just bought a 2006 Highlander 2.4 4 cylinder with 3rd row seat.
Actually they did not have one of my prefered color in stock, so they took a $1000 from me to deliver it on monday.
Paid After Rebate : Base price $21250 + IL, cook county taxes (7.75%) taxes
Out the door 23,271.65
They have included FE, EH,ME,RL,CF
I spent less than 45 minutes @ the dealer. negotiation was very minimal.
SO What do you guys think did I get the right price.
I got disappointed .. let me think about it...
Resale, demand, everything, the Highlander is top of the heap!
and you're asking this in a Highlander forum? LOL
This is the Hybrid, right? I think you will be happy, in the long run, you went with the Limited.

Red...No, not hybrid, HH were not avail in the model year 05. In fact, not even available when I bought my Highlander. But...BUT!... I bought a Camry Hybrid last month...and still have the Highlander. (If early innings in this game are any indication of the outcome, the Highlander may move down from "the best car I ever owned," to second place)

If you are spending that, why not add $3,000 or less and get the Limited, which will have much better resale and include the options they have added :confuse:
With the $2600 package the site says a 2006 has a MSRP of $33,000!
Here’s my story.
Last Tuesday, August 22nd, I spoke with the Sales Manager at Ourisman Chantilly Toyota in northern Virginia. I asked him to accept a reasonable offer -- $5,000 under MSRP, after rebate, for any Base Highlander, V6 4X4 w/3rd row seat on the lot (I don’t think he had any 2X4s anyway, and they all had the 3rd row seat). I’m not terribly picky about the exact options or color. I just wanted to set the price, then go out to the lot and select the exact vehicle I wanted. He agreed to this. When I probed about the $279 “processing fee” the dealership tacks on, he said that would be on top, which would give a true difference of MSRP less $4,721, instead of $5,000. I said no. He insisted. I thanked him for his time and left.
The next thing I did was decide to purchase a Limited V6 4X4 w/3rd row instead of a Base model.
I then searched Fitzgerald Auto Mall’s pricing and found that the very best difference from MSRP on any Limited model in their entire inventory was $5,300. They add $99, giving a real difference of about $5,200. A search of Ourisman’s inventory of Limited models showed that their best difference between MSRP and Internet price was $4,977. They add $279, so their real difference is about $4,700. So in a sense, the bottom line is Fitzgerald’s price was $500 better than Ourisman’s.
So I sent an email directly to Ourisman’s Internet manager, pointing out this difference. I immediately got back an offer to reduce their Internet price by $250 and at the same time they began promoting an “Internet Special” coupon of $250 off their Internet price. This $500 would make up the difference between Fitzgerald and Ourisman. The Internet manager said they would give me this price on any Highlander Limited without Navigation, which I did not want.
So today I bought that car, at that deal.
It looks like this:
Highlander Limited 4X4 V6 w/3rd row seat.
Options: FE (emissions), GY (airbags), HD (heated seats), LA (leather), TO (towing), VV (stereo, sunroof), DK (owner’s portfolio), and GN (cargo net).
Edmunds shows an MSRP of $36,575, invoice of $32,342, and TMV for my area of $31,666.
Ourisman’s Internet price on the vehicle was $30,747, so the deal looked like this:
$30,747 - $250 additional discount - $250 Internet coupon + $279 “processing” = $30,526. Which is what I paid, plus TTL.
Now I just have to wait for this weekend, when Toyota raises the rebate to $2,000, to gnash my teeth!!!
