Maybe I am having a bad day...

I had to drive to Huntington Beach for work so I figured I'd try out a new station in Garden Grove at the So Cal Gas Base... It doesn't appear to exist, I looked everywhere and there was no one to help. I called the SoCal Gas number on the station list and no one has answered or replied to my messages for weeks. Then I went to work with the fuel light on and figured I'd go to the clean energy station in Garden Grove, I watched the video and got my pin number, then the damm machie said it was out of order and would be operational in 5 minutes! I waited and waited and it never changed. I called Clean Energy and at least they answered buy they called back later and said it was down and didn't know when their tech could go and fix it. So I went to the Anaheim So Cal Gas and got the worst fill of my life! 47% and 3 GGE barely filled half my tank, so at least I could make it home. In Corona at the City of Corona Yard, I put 0.1 GGE in the Car! WTF!!! I am so upset, 4 out of 4 stations are failures! I have to try the Placentia yard tomorrow because I have to go to HB again...

The Garden Grove So Cal Gas filling station is not actually on Monarch Street, which I think is where it is listed. It's at the back of the So Cal base which is Industry Street.

If you travel east on Lampson from Knott, Industry is the first street on your right, the station is at the end on the left. Hope that helps.

So Cal Gas , Downey , down to $2.23
  • cal_magcal_mag Member Posts: 6
Thank You for the true location, I found it, I got gas at the Garden Grove SoCal Gas, it was 2.23, wasn't a great fill, but at least it worked. Only got 45% but this time my gauge went to 3/4 full instead of only half...

I have had my share of fueling problems this week. Wednesday night at my local station (Hemet) I had to fuel 3 times to get up to about 3400psi. The good thing was that the pump showed 0 gge and 0 $ and after printing the receipts, it looks like I got a freebee!
Today I went to the Placentia station with 1/2 on my gauge, and got 2gge, 61% on the pump, enough to get me to work and then home, and it put the gauge just up to the fill mark.
There were 3 taxis and a van there, and they all were getting lousy fills.

Here is our chance to get back some of the money we spend on fuel. CLNE went on nasdaq , at par , $12 , and this is after they cut the shares available in half. closed up $.08.
  • jetboatjohnnyjetboatjohnny Member Posts: 104
The station was very busy this morning, one of the taxis said the GG-CE station was closed.
There was an interesting vehicle there trying to fill up with not much luck. It was a trailer with a large CNG tank(s), a remote filling unit. The guy said he can fill about 4 trash trucks with it. I told him he could probably fill 100 Hondas then!

Now that they are public C.E. has to pay all those shareholders. Amazing how NG futures haven't change and CE can justify a 50 cent increase over a few months even though their cost is the same. $2.55/gallon at all the CE stations in Phoenix but the other locations are still selling it for $2.05/gallon these station are within 10 miles. and on top of it their getting another 50 cents credit from the feds for every gallon they sell. Who's with me in a CE boycout. How can Questar continue to sell for 73 cents per gallon. I think there is a reason you don't see CE there no body would use their stations. Come on CE your suppose to help promote NG use not become the next Exxon/Mobile.

ok - i think we all agree that CE are not helping further the CNG cause ... i agree with murphy, it is time we actually spoke up about it!! i have stopped going to CE entirely, and have written several emails to them ... i highly recommend you do the same! today! visit their website: http://www.cleanenergyfuels.com/contact.html
and send an email to the pertinent person. tell them they are hurting the cause and not helping it. ask them why their prices keep going up while natural gas futures are not? why they are 50 cents/ gge more expensive than others?

this is something we can have an impact on ... but it will require you to take 60 seconds and write them! i promise you won't go on a federal no-fly list for doing this!!

The Trillium station here in Tempe is only $2.07, so I've stopped going to CE at the airport, even though the pressure at Trillium isn't nearly as good (about 2 gge less which equates to about 80 miles less on the two tanks).

Clean Energy closed friday at 13.11 , up .69 . up 6.16% for the day. Wall Street must know how much we are paying for CNG !

:surprise: Brian , you might just get on that no fly list after all.

The C. E. CEO and George W. are both cattle ranchers and oilmen !

Just kidding. Homeland security would not do that to you.

If I'm not mistaken that is a pinnacle station at the San Jose Airport. I was there 6 months ago and it was $2.00

  • jetboatjohnnyjetboatjohnny Member Posts: 104
I only got about 2600psi last night in Hemet, not enough to get me home today, so ended up with a (GREAT) 4100psi fill.

sorry, but i have to agree with JBJ -- $5 gas would do nothing but help us! oh ya, i know it would cause everyone to say the sky is falling and the economy is going to stop ... but what will really happen is people will finally smarten up about how they travel (yeah, i'm talking to you Dummer H2 drivers!) and how they do business. read: cleaner air, clearer roads, less auto-related deaths ... bla bla bla.

    actually, let's make it $6/gallon.

ps. your posting to a natural gas forum
  • londnrlondnr Member Posts: 55
The only problem with gasoline at $5 or $6 per gallon is that the good folks who sell us CNG track those prices and stick it to us accordingly, albeit $0.50 to $1 cheaper.
  • jetboatjohnnyjetboatjohnny Member Posts: 104
Hemet RTA 1.97 down 6 cents

There probably aren't many Oklahoma consumers monitoring this thread, but just in case . . .

All 3 public CNG filling stations I've used in Tulsa and Broken Arrow have been 94.9 cents/gge. Two of the stations are Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) public stations (on Main St. in Broken Arrow & around 15th & Sheridan in Tulsa). The other is a Fuelman station just west of 55th and Garnett in Tulsa.

If there are many other OK CNG consumers, maybe we could start another discussion topic to share info on CNG infrastructure in OK.

Also, I've heard that the consumer rate for natural gas from ONG is about $1.05/gge instead of the commercial customer rate of $0.949/gge extended to business customers including CNG stations. So, it's slightly more expensive to refill at home instead of at a public station. However, the convenience factor, the better 3600 psi slow fill, the $1000 Federal tax credit on the FMQ-2-36, and the 50% OK State tax credit on the total cost including installation (e.g. an additional $4,000 state tax credit if you pay $8k for the unit) all combine to make refueling at home desirable nonetheless.

Last weekend, the newbury park station went down. I was there with 1 dot left in my tank, the light on, and no gas coming out. I was able to make it to Oxnard CE ($2.05). The station was repaired and back up on Monday (Also $2.05), but the fill is pretty poor there (their gage shows 3000 to 3100 when it shuts off). The last time I was in Canoga, it was $2.46 (about a week ago), so stretching it out to Newbury does have a pay off...

I just looked at the website, and it seems a new station has opened in Calabasas. I'll have to check it out tomorrow (I'll post a report about it here).

Effective 11/01/07, CNG prices changed from 94.9 cents/GGE to 90.9 cent/GGE. Oklahoma Natural Gas locks in prices for a whole year for purchasers from retail stations, so the rate is stable from November 1 to November 1 each year. CNG use is a no-brainer in Oklahoma. I don't know why there aren't more people using it here. We get huge tax incentives on the purchase of CNG vehicles too. I'm getting a $3415 state tax credit in addition to the $4000 federal tax credit for the purchase of my 2007 Honda Civic GX.

Our price in Utah just dropped to $0.64/gge from $0.73/gge.
  • adeaadea Member Posts: 44
At that price, I'm wondering how CLEAN it is. I've had over $1300 so far in repairs from using 'dirty/oily' fuel here in AZ. Some companies don't want to spend the extra money for extra filtering.

Can't tell you how CLEAN it is, but I have about 100,000 miles on my GX with no problems. Most all gas available to the general public here in Utah is dispensed through Questar (the gas company here in Utah)pumps.

Hemet RTA $2.122 up about 9 cents
  • cngusercnguser Member Posts: 59
Northwest Natural, the natural gas utility here, announced a rate reduction of about 8%.
Kind of nice when gasoline is going the other direction.

That calcs out at $1.53/GGE for my home fueler.
[Wish we had a pipeline to Utah]!

Still waiting for my 2008 GX to arrive...to put it into!

    Hi all ...

I set up a new web site for tracking CNG stations and prices called CNGPrices.com. It's an interactive, movable, clickable map of public CNG stations and current prices throughout the USA. Right now it mostly has updated prices for the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, but if you know of some prices in your area, please update the map so others can benefit.

If you visit the site, please feel free to send me comments using the contact form on the site. I'm always happy to hear ways to improve the site.

    Cheers,
    Todd

I went to Calabasas today, the pump is there, but it is off. The manager of the stations has no plan on reopening. He said he paid $800 a month in Electricity and never sold that much, even with 2 or 3 CNG buses in Calabasas. Too bad, it was really close to the freeway and if it were reasonable, it would have been a great place for me.

    Oh well!
