I see they did drop the XM radio ready stuff. I like Sirius better anyway. I would not have paid extra for XM.
Yes, that's exactly what that means. All you need is a $5 cable you can buy at Wal-Mart. You plug one end into the jack on your Sirius unit and the other end into the jack underneath the power outlet on the dash.

please confirm the '07 vs. '08 prices here. You were going to pay about $18,500 for an '07 but ended up paying $19,500 for an '08 ... correct? If true this just confirms what I thought ... that the dealers are not going to be commin much off MSRP for the '08s vice going invoice or below on '07s.
Congrats on the purchase ...
Correct, the 08 cost more. I heard on the news that new car sales are down, so I am not sure how much or how long these price increases will last.
I have been trying to locate a short stereo jack cable(male/male) that plugs into my ipod as well the aux jack but haven't found one.
The shortest one was like 6ft (1ft would be ideal)I have also heard that cable works better than the FM modulators (interference issues) Also the FM modulators are PRICEY! I would rather stick to $5-$10 cable that gives better sound unless it totally ruins the coolness factor. I found a few retractable cables online - those would be nice!!
Which cable from walmart are you referring to?
Here's a 12" cable at Radio Shack

No, I haven't made the purchase yet. So far $17,879.49 OTD at Pacific Honda in San Diego (Posted by Prsu)is the best price I've seen in So Cal or Las Vegas area. Good luck and please let me know if you find any good deals.
Thank you
For those of you interested, I've just picked up my new Civic and the purchase details are as follows:
07 Civic Coupe LX MT Royal Blue MSRP $17,355 + Taxes + License + etc...
After lots of negotiation: OTD $17,000
And yes, the OTD above includes license, registrations and taxes.
I think it was a pretty good deal judging by the posts here.
Cheers
Car: $16450
DMV fees: $234.75
Tax: $1361.66 (8.25%)
OTD: $18046.41
I also want to purchase an 07 civic LX sedan AT. Did you have a trade in or did you finance with the dealer??
The dealers will not send me a break down of an OTD price in email. I went to two dealers today. The first dealer gave me an OTD price of $19,776 and was not willing to negotiate at all. The second dealer quoted me $19,699. I told him I was looking in the 18k range and he said I was crazy and where would I get a price like that and what was I trying to do?? He let me walk too. When I spoke to other dealers on the phone, I had the same response. I'm willing to go the bay area if I could get your price. Would you give me the name of your dealer, who sold you your car and how did you negotiate that price. Did they add on any unnecessary accessories?? Thanks!
Also looking for an 07 civic LX 4dr sedan AT. Have you made a purchase yet or received any good OTD quotes in your area??
I used Larry Hopkins Honda in Sunnyvale. I also got a slightly more expensive quote (about $50) from Honda of Stevens Creek. The quote from Autowest in Fremont was about $16600.
I got all these quotes through Internet. I also got similar quotes from dealers in LA (the best one is from a dealer in North Hollywood at $16500+$500 online shopping gift certificate).
I didn't have a trade-in, and I payed cash. There wasn't any unnecessary accessories in the car.
Good luck!
good luck
Thanks for the info. Cali definitely has better pricing. The quote you received from a dealer in North Hollywood at $16500+$500 online shopping gift certificate, I guess I don't understand the gift certificate. The quote for $16500 was the car's invoice price... right?? The $500 gift certificate was not tacked on to the invoice price of the
car..right??? Also by the looks of your purchase there was no destination fee. How did you get them to drop that? The dealers in my area were also charging a $130 advertising fee. Thanks
I have been seeing some great deals here in the last 2-3 days. I wonder if this will continue now that it is early September and the '08s are coming out.
Car $16,800
DMV fees $168
Tax 1266.62 $7.5%
Doc fee $57.33
OTD 18,291.95
Love my Honda
However, there was doc fee of $189 and window etching of $169 which I tried to bargain with. However the manager said that I won't be able to find a civic going for this price. The lowest I got from others before this was $400 below invoice.
NJ charges 7% tax and a 4 year registration fee of about $250-$270. OTD is $17500.
The price I posted includes destination fee, and they don't charge advertising fee here. You need to pay tax (8.25%) and DMV fees (around $250 here), though. Go get some internet quotes and you'll have a rough idea about the price!
Dealer Add-ons included: Single Black Pinstripe and Locking Lugs
MSRP: $23,835
Dealer Add Ons: $150 est
Total: $23,985
Discount: ($1,837)
Negogiated Price: $22,148
Funny note. I did the deal over the phone. The dealership had three Si Sedans in stock when I spoke with them (two Navs, 1 non-Nav). I placed my deposit on the Red one and within the next hour the other two sold too! Crazy! I took me forever just to find a dealer within 150 miles with a Nav Si Sedan anyway and I *almost* lost it too.
Tracy
Thanks for any info.

I wouldn't pay $17,625 for a 2006 for the reason you stated.
You should probably do some searches and find a real 2006 EX MT up for sale and compare them with a new car cost. Keep in mind your window for getting a new 2007 is closing fast.
When I bought my civic I know they said not to do the first oil change too soon (like before 3,000 or something) because there's special additives in the new oil and those need to stay in the engine for awhile.
And I remember when I picked up my car the dealer told me to keep the revs under a certain level for the first so many miles. Can't remember the specifics, but I'm sure they'll fill you in when you pick up the car.
Have a good trip to CO!
It's a great car and I love my LX. It's my first Honda and I'm hooked at this point. Happy shopping!

I got a Civic EX sedan (not hybrid) for $18,750 incl. destination charge tonight. With 7% NJ sales tax, state fees, and minor dealer fees, the final price was $20,720. I came in for an LX and ended up upgrading to an EX because they didn't have any LXs in stock in nice colors. (Their offer was limited to in-stock only.) So it was either take the EX or switch to a Prius and pay $5000 more, and at the end my boyfriend offered to help with the higher cost so I caved.
I'm tired, glad it's done, and confident that we have a solid car with good MPG (and it's red with a "moonroof" for fun). But I'm a little unhappy that I let myself be rushed into an overquick decision and maybe paid too much. Sorta wish I had held out for the Prius.
So - was I had? I did hope for a better price during the clearance season. FWIW, the dealership was Metro Honda in Jersey City (a huge outfit). We liked our sales rep fine.
My advice: Don't go car-shopping at night unless you've done a lot of the preliminary steps already. Everyone, including you, is tired and anxious to get home. Not the ideal conditions for a major purchase.
To answer you more directly, you paid several hundred dollars more than you might have. Now what...have an ice cream cone and forget it and enjoy that Civic.
You asked:
"So - was I had?"
The last line of your post says it all:
"Don't go car-shopping at night unless you've done a lot of the preliminary steps already. Everyone, including you, is tired and anxious to get home. Not the ideal conditions for a major purchase."
You seem to have answered your own question. I estimate that you paid approximately $1,500 more than you had to IF you had followed your advice above. I estimate that you paid as much as $1,000 over invoice.
Don't kick yourself though ... look at it this way: you just bought an '07 at an '08 price. The car is still new and the differences (in price) will fade as you own the car. If you plan to own it for 5 to 8 years then it all comes out in the wash.
No sales tax in NH ..... live free or die !
I think maybe I am too old and too set in my ways to let a car go for 10000 miles on same oil and filter. But maybe I should think about it. Saves a little money and over the life of a car, saves lots of environment. My 02 says change at 10000, but I just could never do that. I thought with change in new engine, 02 vs 08, they might have changed the frequency of recommended change but guess not.
Hmmm. Special additivies? Will have to ask about that when I pick it up.
I have known of situations where people pay more than list for a special car or special motorcycle, to me that is pretty silly.
More advice: if you go with a partner, make sure you have decided in advance who will negotiate and how. I was ready to walk away w/o a drop-dead offer - told our dealer I really liked the Prius better and the Honda was boring. We were just glaring at each other in silence. But my b.f. couldn't take it and jumped in to make peace. Or I should say, buy peace.
It's all good. Thanks for the input, everyone!
Give it some time & you'll love the car. Also thought about hybrids, the Civic or the Prius, but with the amount I drive just wasn't a good financial move. Happy to be in the Honda family...finally!

So, if you are worrying about leaving something on the table, I would say you did great. Enjoy the car and the moonroof. I will never own a car again without one.
But I'm confused. I thought TMV was the goal, not invoice. How do people ever get down to invoice?
And when the contract has extra charges (VIN etching, doc fees, etc) in bold face - indicating that they are standard charges for all customers - how likely is it that they will back down on them?
Guss, glad to know the moonroof is such a great feature! I guess it's the poor woman's convertible!
If you read back through the last number of pages in this forum you will read a TON of advice about when and how to buy. The first rule is the simplest:
DO NOT go to the dealer to negotiate. Askfor price quotes and go fromthere. I bought an LX for $700 under invoice without negotiating.
