When I called the other day to inquire for my kid, they were selling at MSRP at that particular store.

I know i'll have to order it and it takes 2 months to come in, but what's the best price i can get a accord for?
I just bought my stock (no nav, no options) 08 Taf. White SI coupe for $22,500 OTD with 2.9% APR for 5 years and 12k down. I live in So. Cali (8.25% tax), so its in high demand, and I got the very last white SI in So. Cali. I literally went to like 30 to 40 dealerships, i swear. No one had white and was asking $23K and up OTD.
Honestly, it really depends on where you live and the color. I could've gotten a black, silver, or red for probably cheaper, but I really wanted white. What I did was just email all the dealers reasonable close to you, and talk to their internet managers. I went all the way to Diamond Valley Honda in Hemet, CA if you were wondering. Ask for Andrew or Scott, great customer service. It was a far drive for me about an hour or so, but they filled up my gas guzzler SUV for free, so techically I bought my SI for $22,420 OTD haha.
Great car, you won't regret it! Just make sure you don't get the 3rd gear problem ones.
I wasn't sure if the dealers had the ability to negotiate this rate.

I'm contacting the other dealership to see if they can order/receive the car I want by mid-July AND honor the ~$1,350 off sticker offer. The Honda's seem to be selling very quickly around here...
Very curious about everyones recent experiences with fees at signing. Still tossing around the idea of leasing the car rather than financing.
id like to think i got a good deal but i probably didn't seeing as how they are in such high demand
Price includes everything (destination charge too) except for tax, tags and title.
Thanks again, you are liking the car? We test drove a white EX-L w/ Nav last night and it was great.
Good luck! you won't be dissapointed
Run the numbers both ways and figure in taxes and decide if paying a little extra interest and payment (and tax) each month to keep the deposit in your bank and not in Honda's.

An update on my situation. Dealer A is $817 lower than Dealer B. Dealer B is talking up supply/demand while Dealer A is the type where they post their best price and sell cars. We have test driven two Civics and one Accord at Dealer B so I feel some allegiance to them but am frustrated at their inability/unwillingness to match Dealer A's offer. While I understand economics and supply/demand, the fact remains that I am being offered the car for less. Dealer A will *attempt* a dealer trade for the car while Dealer B will order it.
Will report back later when we make a decision.
Go save your money before the cheaper dealer decides that if the other guys are charging more that he should as well.
Oh, I just noticed that neither dealer has the car you want. In that case the first dealer's offer is meaningless unless they can get the car you want and I understand the other dealer not wanting to discount an ordered car. By the time it gets here it could be an 09 and /or they could be selling Civics for $1k over MSRP (or both) and yet they promised it to you at a discount. I would find a dealer that had the car you want on the lot and try to make a deal with them or let the cheaper dealer see if they can trade for one.
I would skip the OEM Nav system if I were you. At invoice that is a $1,605 option. You can get a nice Garmin GPS for < $200 and a really nice model for a little more. You are worried over a $800 price difference between two dealers and you can save double that (and have an easier time finding a car) if you drop the Nav.

Seems like unless the certified vehicle is several years older, it makes more sense to buy new.
The dealer does the inspection and pays Honda for the "certified" warranty. Then if the car has issues Honda pays a dealer to fix it. If the car is still in the base warranty you can purchase HondaCare from any Honda dealer for it and can avoid the overprices "certified" cars.
If any used car is a good deal or not depends on the price VS a new one, but you have to negotiate both.

Paid 19,269 in California plus tax, title, DMV fees.
So if you have to pay normal financing rates, that now makes the Nav system REALLY expensive compared to car you could get now

I am unhappy to get a quote for OTD: 20,713.52 (LX no navi). The same dealer quote CR-V OTD: 23,012.61 for LX and 25,502.12 (including protection package & window anti-thief) protection. I feel I will get a better deal if I buy a CR-V LX than Civic except fuel consideration. Any comments??? :confuse:
I guess prices have gone up a little bit since we purchased.
We wanted to wait for the 2009 Civic with traction control, but my college age son inherited my wife's 2000 Civc.
Good luck on finding what you want. :shades:
OTD. this includes all fees - 6% tax, docs, title, registration, and delivery.
It has taken some jerking around with four dealerships in two states. some flat refusals. Lots of half-representations.
If I can get them down to 19,200 I'm buying.
Not a pretty picture on inventory and getting worse by the day.
At 21,3 I would just hold out until production meets demand.
That is just way to much to pay for a civic. I would think you could get an LX accord OTD for that much?

I am shopping for a lx auto near the washington dc region. Just wanted to know what dealership you bought the car from?
Thanks

I am shopping for a civic and most maryland dealers near DC seem to be out of the civic lx with the color i wanted, Is it a problem to buy the car in virginia and title it in maryland.

Best price I could get in a 200 mile area.

any advice?
Yes, figure out how much sales tax is where you live and how much tags and title fees are. Then negotiate your prices for the car with destination and dealer doc or prep fee included, then you add the taxes and title / license stuff and get your own out the door price. Compare that with the dealer's OTD number and they figured it right, you have a nice deal.
