I had originally placed on order for an 07 black Civic LX, but withdrew because I would have had to wait until mid-November to get it. The price I got for the order, with a 500 deposit that I placed and later withdrew, was 17,200 before tax without any accessories. I would have had to pay 18,500 after taxes, title, license, and document fee. 1800 is a little high for an LX. The spoiler is only around 400+installation fee...you maybe could buy aftermarket for cheaper and have the dealer, local repair shop, or even yourself (most of them come with templates and instructions if you have the tools and time) for cheaper installation as well.

I'm in the LA area and I received an offer for a 2006 Civic Sedan LX with MT for 16,500 including dest charge (plus TTL). And so far, the best offer I received on a 2007 Civic Sedan LX with MT is 16,995 including dest charge (plus TTL). Are these good prices? If I try to get the price of the 2007 Civic to match the 2006 price, am I getting a good deal on that? thanks in advance!

    thanks.

After shopping around for a couple of weeks I inked a deal in southern Maine. The first three dealerships I spoke with would not even consider negotiating, they told me this is the price that the car is going for and if you want it that is what you are going to pay.
My SI comes with regular all season tires and does not have the navigation or any other add ons.The price we agreed on is $20,885 which includes all the stupid fees and delivery charge.Sales tax will add another $1044. so I will be out the door for $21,929.00.I have bought new cars in the past and have never experienced such a wall with sales people. While at one of the dealerships I said to the salesman the car is a year old in 2 months, winter is a month away and that the SI is a summer car! you should make an effort to sell me this car and he said to me it was the easiest car to sell because so my people want them.He told me that he did not care if I bought this one because someone else will. This SI he was talking about was a 2006 listed at $21,000 before destination fee, contract fees, dealer prep fees, title fees, state taxes, and put his kid through college fees.
I hope to take delivery on my 2007 SI early next month. The deal is not done until I take ownership and drive off the lot but for now I feel like I got an ok deal on a great car.The dealer made his 5% over invoice and got the delivery charge covered in his price.

    Hi everyone,

Does Honda offer the Graduate rebate program (similar to other car manufacture)? I believe the rebate is $400.

    Thanks
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
I don't think they do - it is not listed on the incentives pages or on the Honda web page. It does say this:

THE HONDA AND ACURA GRADUATE PROGRAMS
So, you're finally graduating. Congratulations! To help make the transition from school to a career as easy - and as much fun - as possible, we'd like to suggest a truly enjoyable extracurricular activity: buying a new Honda or Acura automobile.

The Honda and Acura Graduate Programs from Honda Financial Services can help make it easier to qualify for financing, and allow you to drive away for a small down payment. To help make your monthly payments as low as possible, we can customize the financing term to your needs.

    Give Yourself Some Credit
Taking advantage of the Graduate Program can help you start building your credit rating, making it easier to qualify for other consumer loans and credit cards.

    How To Qualify
If you will be graduating with a Masters, Bachelors, or Associates degree from an accredited college or completing a registered nursing program in the next four months, or have done so in the last two years, and you have no adverse credit history, you may qualify to purchase your vehicle through the Graduate Program.

on the AHFS web page - but nothing about any discount or rebate.

I think you are finding what a lot of folks are finding - most dealers are not dealing on any Civic models right now. If you can get the car for MSRP including any dealer fees you are getting a "decent" deal and getting a Civic for under MSRP including the dealer fees rates a "good deal".

It is a seller's market on the car right now - if you want a new 07 Accord you can do invoice or even less but those same dealers will quote you around MSRP on a Civic.

The funny thing is regular unleaded has dropped to $2.159 a gallon here (not cheap, but not $3 either) so paying a lot extra for a more efficient car may not make much since AT THIS TIME with these prices.

Ya dwyanne gas prices have gone down for now but who knows how long they will stay down. The whole world is changing fuel consumption wise and long term demand will continue to increase as countries like China grow quarter after quarter.
When it does go back up I think I will be alot happier filling my tank with premium getting 32 MPG than the GTI owners who get around 16 MPG.Honda has hit a home run here with this new SI model. The 2006/2007 SI will give you performance when you want it and fuel economy when you don't.Those GTI's with 300HP may beat me off the line but I'll pass them when they pull into the gas station.LOL
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Too bad the si requires premium for full power, that makes the effective MPG a lot less that what you think you get - since you have to pay a "premium" for the fuel. I am in the same boat with my S2000 and RX-8 - but the S blows away the 8 when it comes to the pump. I get 23-25mpg commuting to work and around 28mpg on trips - all with the top down. The 8 gets less on the HIGHWAY than the S does around town :(

I think most any Honda is a good car, but the Civics of any type seem to be flying off the showroom floor and the dealers seem keen on getting full price or more for them. My daughter loves her new EX sedan and is getting around 30mpg around town and a car with < 1k on the clock. Pretty impressive.

Honda does have a new graduate program, just ask the salesperson for the brochure. You need to show proof of graduation with your diploma or school transcript within the last 90 days. You also need to have qualifying credits, which means clean credit history with no blemishes such as debt collections. The brochure I had, i think also wanted proof of employment or income as well. One benefit of qualifying is deferred payment and interests for the first 90 days of your finance. It's fairly tough to qualify, the finance person will most likely sway you away from it by saying that you don't qualify or the interests rate are high.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
txn428 asked if they had a grad REBATE as other car companies do, and AFAIK they do not. The "program" is just to help recent grads with not much established credit get a new car loan. There are no further discounts or rebates offered to a grad - right? So a recent grad with good credit should pre-qualify at their bank, credit union, or someplace like CapitalOne online for a loan before car shopping - since they will be paying the same as everyone else - and then see if the dealer can beat their pre-qualified rate, either via normal financing of the "program".

    2007 Civic LX (Manual) 15,943 +199 doc
Just picked one up today. Good deal!
  • wco81wco81 Member Posts: 594
Paid 21,000 OTD including 8.25% sales tax.

Sticker was 20,100 but like other dealers in the area, they were marking up $2-3k.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Assuming you had no trade in, that is a very good price since invoice including destination is $16,125 for a manual LX Civic sedan. $15,943 is invoice of an 07 LX Civic COUPE - so if you got the coupe you still did good since you got it for invoice + $199 doc fee.

You might share the dealer name and location that gave you such a good deal on a new Civic.

while i was having my civic serviced I saw the exact car you have in front of the showroom. I must say it was a excellant looking car- great choice. My civic is gray because my last four cars were red. I thought I needed a change but my next car will be red. Good luck and many miles of happy driving.

I got an e-mail from Holmes Honda offering Civics for $500 off of MSRP + TTL (so I assume no extra dealer fee) now through 10/27. The Si is excluded and the car has to be one of the 17 in stock Civics (or one that arrives before 10/27, I guess).

    The Holmes Honda web page

You have to talk with someone in the Internet sales department to get this price - the e-mail says.

I have no connection with Holmes, but in the past they have been a dealer willing to make good deals. $500 under MSRP is not a smoking hot deal, but with most dealers starting at MSRP and adding either high dealer fees or unwanted accessories - or both, may be a way for some to save some money.

I paid $17,345.67 (not including tax, title, and tags) for my new 2007 Civic LX automatic. I purchased it from Sam Swope Honda in Richmond, Kentucky after having used the Car Bargains service, which costs $190.

I did not buy any accessories or extended warranties.

The quotes returned from 7 dealers varied in price from $17,345.67 to $18,654.00.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
That is a nice price. Invoice is $16,855 and MSRP is $18,355 so you are $490.67 over invoice - if that price includes the dealer fee.

We have purchased a couple of Hondas from the Swope store in Louisville and have been very pleased with both the price and the sales experience (everything as promised and no BS).

    Hi,

Where did you get your car? I live in Mpls and have been trying to get a manual EX for 2 months. They say Honda won't build it.

    Thanks.
  • pham0167pham0167 Member Posts: 48
I got the EX MT sedan at Brookdale Honda in Brooklyn Park, MN. It's a lot harder to find a manual sedan, the manual coupes are a lot easier to find. It was also more common to find a manual EX than a manual LX. I originally placed an order at Hopkins Honda with a deposit of $500, but they changed the expected arrival date from mid-October to mid-November. I needed a car ASAP, so I called around and Brookdale happened to have one that just arrived.

Ritchfield Honda and Hopkins Honda had at least two 07 MT coupes and two used 2006 MT coupes if you can settle on a two-door. Hopkins Honda had a red 07 sedan that kept pushing on me, even though I told them I didn't want a red car. Brookdale Honda was getting a lot of new vehicles coming in this Fall surprisingly, they had 3 Civic Si coupes and an Insight (hard to find).

It's possible to get an MT sedan, you would most likely need to order it and wait one to two months. Most of the sales person just didn't want to put in an effort to do that for some reason during my experience. Also, they seem to order at least one manual a month, some customers do back out of the order too, so if you're flexible on colors and coupe vs. sedan, it's not very hard to find.

If not, just keep checking in on all the dealerships by calling or checking their website, and talk to a salesperson about ordering one.

I also found one 06/07 EX MT sedan at a Minnetonka Mazda and Beurkle Acura if you look through their online inventory. Some import dealership will have one or two new cars of their competition.

After months of trying to negotiate with about 5 different dealers and then locating a car I finally got it. 2007 Galaxy Gray EX Coupe Aotomatic for $19700 out the door. For the longest all the dealers were hanging around $19,995 but one dealer called and said if I was really interested come and look at what he had. It had 7 Miles and still had all the plastic tape on it. He even included Mud Guards for that price. I live in North Carolina so A Breakdown of the fees are as follows:
    Car-18,770.80
    mud guards- 119.00
    Tax-(3%)-566.69
    title,tag fee- 69.00
Doc fee( which I think is just another way to markup) 174.50
Total 19,700. When I asked some of the other dealers about the price they all said it was too good to be true but the car is in my driveway so...... The larger dealers were stuck on MSRP but one said she could drop a WHOPPING $105 from the MSRP price. I thanked her for her time.
What suprised me most is that a small dealer( maybe about 20-25 Honda cars and trucks/suvs on the lot)that gave me the deal. I would have thought larger dealers would do better than they did to earn my business.
How good was the deal? Is this in line with some of the better deals you guys are getting? Oh one more thing, I'm One HAPPY MUTHA!!!!!
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
    Congrats on the new car!

Invoice is $18,452 so even with the dealer fee you are within $500 of invoice - and that is a great deal in these days on a Civic.

A lot of the dealers I talked to are like your $105 discount dealer - just a joke with no discount or most with stuff packed on top of MSRP. One in told me "Honda will not allow us to sell these cars at a discount".

2007 Civic LX Auto Sedan: $17,418

2007 Civic EX Auto Sedan: $19,100

How are these prices? I think they're $800 over listed invoice?

I think I'm in the ballpark, but can do better, considering that I've known of people who were able to buy EX sedans (06) for $18,000 6 months ago, and LX Sedans for under $17,000.

    Hello Civic owners:

I plan to sell my 2002 Civic, so that I can buy a 2006 Civic. The problem is that I have a crack on my windshield (bottom-right, 1 foot long, cannot be repaired).

Shall I replace it and list at a higher price? Or, leave it and list at a lower price? Assuming the difference in asking prices is the cost to replace the windshield. Which way gets the car sold faster?

    Thank you for your suggestions!
  • mikefm58mikefm58 Member Posts: 2,882
Without a doubt, get it fixed. A potential buyer will look at that and wonder what else might be wrong that you didn't get fixed.
  • mhattrupmhattrup Member Posts: 77
I just purchased a slightly used 06 Si (1165 miles) tonight. The car had been sold 3 weeks ago to an older couple (my age :-) they traded it in on a CRV. The car was placed in the Honda certified used car program which pushed its B2B warranty to 4yr 48K and drive train to 7yr 100K. They wanted $21,865 and I got it for $20,700 before TTL. Then they trotted out the extended B2B for ~$1000 which pushes it to 7yr 100K. They said if it were new it would cost $2000+ I was still on the fence until he said I could cancel it and get a pro-rated refund so I said yes.

I also got a 3 day return period which I might have to use because my wife hasn't even sat in one (Yes she knew I was buying it:-). I've been looking a long time and my 99 Passat has been adding to a list of issues that may approach $1000+ to address so when I found this I told her I might buy this and then trade it for a new Nissan Altima when it comes out. I told her I figured the most I'd lose is around $1000 if I did the deal right and the Passat was going to cost that much to fix anyway so she agreed with my logic... :-) We'll see how tomorrow goes! I also need to drive it a bit more as the dealership was really stingy with the Si test drive (no highway so I couldn't gauge the road noise - and there is some).

If the car is a good one I plan to let my daughter drive it in 4 years when she gets her license. So if I start taking grief about my new RED Toy I'll just tell em I'm borrowing my daughters car! :-)

    Price breakdown
$20,700 (about $1500 over new invoice)
    $9 title transfer
    $80 license registration
    $1866 WA state tax
    6.50 misc fees
    1037.50 extended B2B warranty
    $35 doc fee
    $23,734 Out the door

So how'd I do? Should I keep the extended warranty? My Passat has made me keenly aware of the high cost of repairs...
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,786
interesting ... this is a matter of "what's it worth to you."

IF you paid full MSRP for a brand new one with zero miles, it would have cost you $985 more. In addition, you can get the 7/100k mile warranty with $0 deductible (you did get $0 deductible, right?) online for $825 (http://www.jayhondacare.com/Civic.htm).

SO, you paid $212 more on the warranty and saved $985 on the car, for a net savings of $773. Is it worth $773 to you to give up nearly 1200 miles that were driven in god-only-knows what manner? If so, then you did fine.

You math matches mine - $657 over invoice. In a lot of places it is hard to get ANY discount off of MSRP - and some dealers are packing on the accessories to drive the price over MSRP. Getting $1,150 off and paying $657 over invoice sounds pretty good to me - as long as they do not stick any high dealer or doc fees on top of the price.

  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Call your insurance company, there is a real good chance this will be covered fully or at least partly by them. In any case, get it fixed and the car will sell easier.

MSRP on a new, 0 mile 2007 Si is $21,685. So for my money no way would *I* pay $20,700 for a used car - I don't care who they said purchased it and who they said drove it and for how long - if it were previously titled it is a USED car. They are NOT that hard to find - take it back and get a new car. My first S2000 had almost the same about of miles on it, but I paid around 76% of MSRP for mine and not the 95% you did.

From Bernardi online HondaCare you can get an 8yr/120k/$0 warranty for $876, 8yr/100k/$0 is $776, 7/120k/$0 is $796, and 7yr/100k/$0 is $696.

So take it back and unwind the whole deal. Go take a nice test drive to be sure it is for you, then if so find and buy a new one. Who knows, you may be able to get something off of MSRP. Then get the HondaCare online for cheap.

Boy I gotta tell you that the dealership DID NOT give you a fair deal IMHO.I recently signed a contract with Maine Mall Motors in Portland Maine to purchase a new SI for $20,885.So basicly You are paying $185 dollars less for a used car.Two months from now your car is oneyear old.The fact that they would not allow you to drive the car on the highway suggests there may be something wrong with your car and that is why it was traded back in the first place.Check out the other message boards here which list some of the problems that 06 Civic SI owners have been experiencing.Good luck.
  • mhattrupmhattrup Member Posts: 77
The dealership has two new Civic Si's on the lot it was the new ones they wouldn't let me take out on the highway. The red one (mine) showed up after my test drive last weekend.

I've been "looking" for a long time (visiting the lot frequently but only going on one or two test drives of Accord coupes about a year ago). So I think they just thought I wanted to rod a Civic around when I asked to test drive it. I had been hitting the lot about once a month since spring and was asking about Si's (Never ever saw one - until about 2 weeks ago when the dealership got the 2 it has now). In fact I'd been watching their website when the Red one (possibly mine) showed up about month or 2 back. When I went in on the weekend they said it was sold during prep. This still fits with the story I got while I was purchasing it (i.e., the salesman that sold said the lady bought it while it was still in the back lot). As it turns out the "lady" may be a co-worker last week I spotted a red Si in the lot and haven't seen it since and today I noticed a new CRV parked near where the Si had been. I'm leaving a note tomorrow just to see.

At $20,885 it appears you bought a new 06? That is what Edmunds shows as the MSRP price for an 06 (that is a good deal in this part of the country) if your getting an 07 then you got a really really good deal. In this part of the country that is a good deal because the two new Si's on the local lot both have $3000 adjusted market values on them and the next closest dealer 70 miles away had $6000 ADM on their Si (again the only one I've seen in months of periodic stops at that dealership). I almost bought an Accord coupe last winter from a dealer in Oregon who was GREAT to work with. I had the cost down about $750 to a $1000 under invoice (dealer cash was being offered) but I just wasn't drawn to the car. I decided to give him a try on the Si and he was the only dealer within 200 miles that was offering Si's under MSRP ($1500 over invoice). I tried Costco and there were no dealers with Si's in the program on this side of the state... so right now around here Si's are relatively rare and going for MSRP or worse.

So I figure I paid a little less than MSRP and got an extended warranty at no cost. Now I probably made a mistake on extending the B2B through the dealer (I usually avoid extended warranties) but I called my local credit union today (my buddy's wife runs the warranty sales dept. and she thought my price was very good especially since its with Honda.) After seeing those other posts in response to mine I went on-line and my cost was just about even with 3 different vendors... so I still don't think I got screwed but only time will tell.

I'm certain these guys were lying through their teeth about the previous owners because they probably don't want to ever sell me another car again. I mean I've only bought two cars through them since 2000 oh... and my cousin works for the dealership.

I took the wife and daughter for a ride tonight Thankfully they both love the car! It's all good!
  • mhattrupmhattrup Member Posts: 77
I just did a search on auto trader and within 300 miles of my location there were 5 pages of S2000 listed and only 2 pages of 2 door manual Civics. When I paged through the Civics I saw 8 Si's so they don't seem to be overly abundant but that could change now that 07's are rolling out. One red one with 5500 miles had an asking price of $25K. Rather than unwinding the deal I think I might just take it to Seattle or Portland and resell it at those prices. As for being a USED car since it was previously titled what will your car be when you go to sell it? With the transferable warranty I don't see this as a big issue (like it used to be when the warranty went to the original purchaser only). So far I'm having a blast with the car - and my wife and daughter think it looks good (big praise from non car people).

So take it back and unwind the whole deal

And how does he do that? Simply go in and ask for his money back because he paid too much? Last I knew an auto purchase was non-refundable, at least in my state anyway.

He does have a 3 day period to return I thought? For me a used car does not have the same appeal as a new car. Car's have the most depreciation during the period, when the car goes from new to used. If you are happy with the car though, it's your call but I would go with new unless the discount is substantial. You shouldn't take the warranty into the deal at all.
An unrelated question.. do 07 Si's come with Traction Control? or is it just the Sedans? If they do, that would squeeze the 06's price down even further.
