mhattrup - I may have screwed up when I bought the TL because I thought it would be sportier (It's a manual 6-speed) and now driving it.... It's not. Don't get me wrong - it's a great car but it has a better quality on a huge road trip on interstates. I have simply proved to myself, unfortunately after more money was spent, that I like more sport and less sedan. The Civic Si would have been the better choice.... Yes, it has a more "live" feel. Live and learn. Now I'm just trying to get one...
qbrozen - my main point is the map detail for given area selected (zooming in or out) is a lot better on the Civic. The TL's display, in a rural area, with that nice big screen, is a joke. One particular area around where we live is festooned with country roads and one or two state routes. The TL's navi is blank as you drive - the icon is "floating" with no background, depicting no roads. The Civic's navi holds that detail (the country roads) longer when you zoom out and you are able to ascertain where you are with "dead-reckoning", making it a lot easier to eyeball how you have to go to get to East Bugtussle.
I'm a victim of already having a portable navi, and as people that have portable navi's can attest to, OEM car navi's, in comparison, are horrible. The Civic's navi is a little closer to that quality and I thought it would be nice to get the Si Coupe with it. If not, that's O.K. too, I still have my portable. Cross-forums with my moniker and you can view that whole argument (boy, talk about a dead horse, geez-a-lo!).

The price is for a 07 Civic EX 4dr sedan with an automatic.

I think I'm going to go ahead and just get one without the navi and upgrade my portable someday - lot cheaper that way. Kind of weird that Honda is not making more of them with the navi, seems like it would be a hot seller.
Dealwrship is in Germantown of Maryland, tax is 5%.
Hopefully it would help.
The Si is not a "sports car" - a sporty car, maybe. I higher performance Civic, for sure. If you want a real sports car you need RWD (and in some cases AWD). Get a nice S2000 and you have a sports car. A Miata again or any number of other cars (RX-8, Boxster, etc).
The Si is a sporty, higher performance Civic, FWD car.

Could anyone please let me know if I got good deal or not.
BTW, I did not trade any vehicle
PS. - - The dealer had 2 in stock and calls to 2 other dealers revealed that stock is usually around 1 to 3 & immediately available.
You could try this little tactic I picked up in an article somewhere.
Stop in on a cold rainy day 15 minutes before closing, best if a slow weekday like Tuesday or Wednesday make sure you make it clear you want to buy a car today, if they can smell a sale they probably won't tell you to come back tomorrow and will try sell you a car. Then spend an hour or two with the sales guy, takes some test drives, let them look at your trade, talk about features, ask financing questions, anything to occupy their time. After the guys at the dealership have 2-3 hours of their time invested in you they may be more willing to work a deal.
On a similar and entertaining note:
I was looking to test drive a GTI and when to the closest VW dealership. As I was walking the lot, I saw that every single car on the lot was marked between $1000 to $5000 over MSRP, the description of the added cost was "market adjustment". My favorite was the $1800 over invoice on each of the 27 $16K rabbits they had in stock. I don't know if this a standard VW thing or just this dealership, but WOW, what decade do these guys think it is?

Just picked 2007 Civic EX auto Sedan for 20K. Price includes everything (Dest, Tax, Title, License, doc fees, tire tax etc). I live in NJ, Tax is 7% and Registration is $272.00.
Could anyone please let me know if I got good deal or not.
BTW, I did not trade any vehicle
Was that price in NJ found through direct contact or a buying service?
"A sporty car, maybe" is the key phrase. Trying to keep a little sport with a little more reliability and utility is the task at hand. FWD is not preferred but seems, these days..... oh well.
I would like to buy a honda civic 4 door LX (auto).
I just contacted a dealer, and he offered $17,400 including splash guards ($168 value) and destination charge (excluding registration and title fees).
Is it a reasonable price?
What kind of services (free oil change, a tank of gas) can I request to the dealer?
Thanks.

from my own experience, it all depends how much work you want to put into it to get him to go lower from here. i had to take each offer and then pit it against another dealer to see if they would match or go lower....then i'd go back to the other dealer with my new figure to see what they would do until i got to my final number. i stopped once i felt that nobody was budging and i felt that i had a dealer i could trust and that i liked working with to make my final purchase with.
your new car should already come with a full tank fo gas....mine came with the first oil change free, too.
hope this helps a bit
We're going to test drive it tomorrow around 3pm.
Should be a good time to try and negotiate? 3pm, Saturday, end of the month, and the end of the year?
I doubt we'll be able to get anything off, but worth trying. More than likely we will wait until spring, save some more money and try to find another. Most dealers in the area show 2-4 SI sedans on the lot right now, hopefully there will be a better selection by March of April.
I will try to go down to $17,200.
Have a nice holidays!
I understand that some just WANT a Civic (my dad just got an EX, so I understand), but I think people fail to realize that to upgrade to an Accord these days will cost VERY little.
I started the process by sending an e-mail to every Honda dealership in a 100 mile radius (there are five) offering $16417; I got this number from Consumer Reports (I paid the $14 to get the pricing report). One dealership responded with $16517, and I forwarded their e-mail to the others. Another dealership resonded that they would match this price, which I also forwarded to all the dealerships. Finally, a third dealership offered what I wanted.
I think the fact that I bought on the last day of the year helped.
You might find similar deals at Carey Paul, Willett or Hennessey Honda if you are shopping today - the last day of the year. Check out Mall of Georgia Honda if you want the car delivered with a lot of accessories (sarcasm not intended).
I think you had a great deal!
The dealer sold under the invoice price which is about $16,800.
Which state are you in? How about registration fees?
Happy New Year!
A friend recommended that I purchase the Consumer Reports price report for $14, and I'm glad I did. The information on the price report stated that there was a $500+ dealer holdback, meaning that the dealership will receive the amount of the holdback upon selling the car. In other words, even if the dealership sold at invoice, they would still profit.
My thinking on why I got a great deal was that they were eager to sell before the end of the year. If the dealership could add to their numbers, then they could advertise as the best Honda dealer in the state, and I've heard that Honda gives preferences to dealerships that sell a lot of cars. I don't know for sure, but this is what I've heard.
By the way, I bought from Charlies Honda in Augusta, Maine. They have a website you could google.
Take care.
I would like to buy a honda 4 dr LX with auto tranny in LA. A dealer quoted me $17018 (with destination charge). Is it a good deal?
Thanks,
lok
What is the dealer holdback on this particular trim?
Is it reasonable to negotiate the car down to invoice?
Is expecting 35MPG in 80% highway 20% city driving reasonable?
Does Honda ever offer any financing offers on Civic? Does anybody forsee financing incentives in the next 6 months?
negotiated price: I bought a Civic EX Automatic Sedan for $200 under invoice last week in the Atlanta area. Get quotes on weekday mornings of the last week of the month.
MPG: don't know yet
financing: don't know
Is it reasonable to negotiate the car down to invoice? Depends on the time of year. I know that around my part of Ohio I didn't get quotes that low until the last two weeks of the year and that the TMV listed here at Edmunds for my area is about $1,500 more than I paid.
Is expecting 35MPG in 80% highway 20% city driving reasonable? Would seem reasonable since most of your driving is highway.
Does Honda ever offer any financing offers on Civic? Does anybody forsee financing incentives in the next 6 months? I watched the offers for most of 2006 and never saw anything for the Civics. I had resigned myself to paying close to MSRP until I researched and read that buying the last two weeks of the year would save me money (which it did).
I just got mine [2007 civic 4-door auto] for $17,080 in Los Angeles area this past weekend.
Base Price [with destination charge]: $17,080
Add-ons [splash guards, wheel locks and trunk tray]: $100
Tax [8.25%]: $ 1,417
Doc fee: $45
Other fees: $215
---------------------
Total: $18,857
PS:
Below are some sites that I used during my research:
1) Finding about the dealer's holdback (It's the percentage the dealer gets from the manufacturer just by selling a car).
http://www.edmunds.com/advice/incentives/holdback/index.html
2) To get an estimated target price of a car, just download the Buyer's Offer Spreadsheet, and input the information about the car.

3) Invoice and MSRP prices can be retrieved in KBB website:

Much appreciated!
$16,043 Car
$598 Destination
$198 Doc Fee
$1045 TTL
$17874 Total Out the door..
I am about to purchase a Honda Civic LX in the state of AZ, Phoenix area. I am new to this whole purchasing business and am wondering where I can find out how much I'll be charged for vehicle registration and title and other 'extra' fees that are generally not part of the negotiation price (i.e. invoice minus holdback and such). Also if anyone has purchased in the area I would love to hear how much you've payed.
Thanks
