I am also looking to buy a Honda EX-L with no Nav in Phoenix area. Went to one dealer to test drive and got this quote, 26908$ Invoice + TTL - 500 holdback to around 29k something. I was planning to slowly request quotes from other dealers and compare them.
Sounds like you have a good initial offer when compared to what i got. Hoping to hear more from you.
Brian, I got a quote from one of the dealers in AZ for an OTD for Honda Accord EX-L at 29,500. Base price = 26,500. This includes Tax (2,150) + title (500) + doc (400) + destination fee (included). I was hoping to close the deal around (OTD) between 27K - 27,500. What would you suggest...

Hello all. After doing my homework by reading this thread, I was able to purchase a Sport manual for a sales price of $21,400 at Honda World of Westminster CA. It had just arrived on the truck so lucky me for not having the dreaded KARR alarm add on or anything else. To get to that sales price, they used dealer cash. I feel that I would have been able to get a better price like the one from Ontario but I had them throw in splash guards(uninstalled) and trunk tray because they could not combine the 1.9% 60 month special financing from Honda and had to get 1.9% from Wells Fargo. Besides government taxes and fees, doc fee was $80 and electronic filing fee of $29
There was not much hassle from the salesman and finance only made a small comment about not having put any money down but nothing worth getting into considering past experiences. They have bad reviews on Yelp and Google but I did not see any of that on my trip. Only issue is whatever they used to wash the car left 2 light scuff marks (but highly visible on black) on both passenger doors that may be able to get buffed out. I have to take it back on Monday and see what they do so after I get that done, I will leave a review of that dealership on Yelp.

keep on negotiating.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 1000 to 1500 below your models invoice price is where you want to be. excluding all your otd pricing
Thanks Brian. Is there a way that I can find out the invoice price of Honda EXL (without navigation) for Phoenix ?. If I got to truecar.com, I see that they have mentioned a price of 26,909 (including destination + regional fee). So a good base price will be 25,500 - 25,000 ? Appreciate all your help !

Minus 1000 to 1500 off invoice price and call and negotiate with dealers. You have to at some point stop asking for quotes and say to each dealership that your willing to travel to:
I will buy this model today for xxx price or i'm going to the next dealership and offer them my business.. Read my prior tips and advice on buying using via email/ calls or visits to dealerships.. It all works. I Guarantee you will go from invoice price to a good buying number in no time. Guarantee it. Dealer is treating you like most un=educated buyers and they are hoping you take the bait with pricing there giving you.
When I call a dealership i'm firm and direct.. I know my prices.... I tell dealers what gets the deal done that moment. I make them comit to matching or beating my price. I let each dealer know they are just one of the very many dealers i'm offering my business to . When you act clueless in the car buying world...... You get the run around..... Never get a decent price, and will get taken advantage of.
Be in command .......LEO...
Notice every thing is about me and what I want.. This is my hard earned 30k... i'm going to get the best bang for my buck.
Good luck. End of the month will bring you a better price..... Read posts.
Brian, I have been following your strategy so far and I got a price of 25,500+TTL. I am asking OTD as well from the dealer, so that they dont do a bait & switch. I have no tearing hurry to buy the car now vs. end of the month (this time it is end of the quarter as well). I will wait for the base price to come down to 25K which will get me the OTD to $28K.
Again, thanks a ton for all your tips and answering all my questions patiently !

Dealers in Az are not selling like other states so do the best you could price wise and at months end make your best deal if you have not struck one yet..
Brian, I am getting varying OTD quotes from the dealers here. Ranging from 27.5K - 30K. I had not expected such a wide variation of prices. The lowest one does not have the color that I am looking for. What would you suggest ? Is the 27.5K price good ? or should I negotiate it down further.. Thanks !

If dealers wont find you the color and model you want then go to the next dealership. There is still a large stock of 2014 models out there. Dealers sometimes want a small fee 300 dollars etc. to find and bring the vehicle to there dealership. Find the dealership that wont charge you.
Just bought a new 2014 Honda Accord EX-L V4 without navigation for an out the door price of 26,800. It came with the protection package. Anyone knows if this is a good deal or did I pay too much for this vehicle? Im from the Central Valley in California. I had offers ranging from Roseville to Lodi and they were going for 27,800 out the door with the protection package. Stockton Offered me the best price so I took it. Any thoughts if this was a good deal?
You should email the dealership first to see what is there internet pricing for you. Internet pricing comparing to seeing them in person is much different. Internet pricing is much cheaper. I got a 2014 Honda accord ex-l without navigation for 26,800 with protection package out the door.

I am looking for a similar car in AZ and no dealer is anyway close to the 26,800 price that you got. from my perspective, you got a very good deal ! Congrats !!

That sounds like a very good deal. I would be jumping if i got that deal from any of the dealers here. I am also in no rush, so just slowly waiting till i get a good deal by end of the month.

I know this is the Accord Forum but you all helped me with my purchase of a new Accord EXL w/Navi in December. No one seems to be around in the Civic Forum so I was wondering if I could get some help from my friends here.
My Mom is turning in a leased 2011 Accord at the end of the month and am interested in leasing a 2014 Honda Civic EXL CVT Sedan with Navigation and automatic tranny. She would like a smaller car and I really likes the new Civic. She wants to lease again but I am looking to get the best price first on a buy. I am in Southern Connecticut (Fairfield County) and am also near dealers in Westchester County, NY.
A price I got from one dealer was MSRP $25030 (incl the $790 dest fee) and an invoice of $23,306 ( incl dest fee). His best price so far is $21,800 + tax and DMV fees which will be a bit higher because he is in NY State. I will need new plates with a buy but with a new lease I am assuming the plates just need to be transferred to the new vehicle since the current lease plates belong to Honda. I asked about dealer cash for a buy and the dealer said it was in that price already ($500). He said for a lease there is $800 dealers cash so that may bring the price down a bit. Usually when I try and lease they like to throw out the best price and go to their own deal which is not a good. Most lease deals through Honda are for lower end models and with money down. My Mom never puts any money down and has great credit. BTW, she does not drive a lot of mileage so it would be for either 10,000 or 12,000 miles a year or less depending on what Honda offers.
Any idea if this is a good deal or could I do better? I am lousy at leases so I always come here for some guidance. What is the money factor and residual on this car? I know to ask that but do not understand any formulas. And what would be a good monthly payment with $0 down for this configuration (EXL Sedan with Navi).
Also, last time we leased we got a good price and monthly payment but the buy down at the end of the lease reverted back to MSRP. Is that usual or should it be for the negotiated best price?
I always get good feedback in the forum so thanks for help in advance.
Just find this useful forum... however, i already put my deposit for a 2014 accord EX-L, no navigation. with all season floor mat and wheel locks.
i havnt sign the contract yet, since dealer need to do a car swap for me to pick up this weekend.
I would like to know if and how much i would overpay.....
here is the numbers:
$25119 invoice - $5000 (trade in) + $1790 (tax) + $369 (doc fee) + $75 (registration fee) - $500 dealer cash to a final total of $21849. so without trade in is $26849.
Am I able to negotiate more? maybe not on the price, or could be add more accessories?
I wanted to do the special 1.9% for 60mth, later dealer indicated i cant get special finance and dealer cash the same time, so if i want the 1.9%, i will lose the 500 dear cash, is it true?
Thanks!
Hi starsnt, i wanted to check if the $500 dealer cash is a local offer vs. a national offer. Could you pls. share the area where you are buying your accord in & if you know this is a national offer. Appreciate your responses.. Thanks !

I believe this $500 dealer cash is a national offer. and the dealer did show me a paper from Honda indicating a choice of $500 off OR 1.99% special financing...

I finally did it. Bought a 14' Accord Sport today. Penske Honda in Ontario,CA. $20,900+TTL. No extra msrp $25,305. My OTD price $22,933.15
The same dealer quoted me $22,295 before TTL to Los Angeles County on June 9. Would you tell me which salesman for contact? Would you also share how to negotiate your price? Thanks!

First off Call dealership right now and ask if the selling price of 25,119 included the destanation charge of 790. This would be a dealer breaker if it was not added onto your 25,119 selling price..... i'm going to assume it was.
Here is how i break down your deal : Your target price to buy should be..... Low end= 1000 below dealers invoice to as much as 2000 below. You want to buy somewhere in the middle of that price range if you could being where already in the late part of JUNE.
Here is your deal;
EXL, no nav model = Invoice price with destanation charge of 790 included= 26,650.
selling price..........................w/ dest charge included.....................................25,119
ADD...... 500 dollars for cash incentive...........................................................500
Total selling price......................................................... .= 1662 below dealers invoice
If the destanation charge was not included....... minus the 790 off your deal thus making it 872 below invoice. If this is the case you need to try for a few more dollars off this deal.
your 5000 dollar trade in will lower your new vehicles selling price. Saving you a few dollars on your states taxes.
your 1.9% finance and dealer cash question being this is new this month should be clarified with that dealer today along with the destanation question. dont wait til tommorrow when your in the dealership. things always get confusing and with alot on your mind you may overlook something in this deal where you may regret later.
Being you do not have a signed buyers order you can counter the dealers price. By letting the dealer know you are buying that moment but want 300 or 500 etc , more off this deal puts him on the spot. Be prepared to walk out if they dont meet your pricing. Be prepared to fight for a deposit return..
In the future Never, Never, Never, leave a dealer a deposit for a vehicle unless you both have agreed on the selling price/ have it in writing.
Same applies when you lease or buy. Negotiate with dealers for the lowest selling price then have dealership run the correct leasing numbers to the deal. Make 36 equal payments with little or no money out of your pocket.
Try any one of the leasing forums for help on the money factor, residual, etc.
If you sign into Weymouth honda's web page you could find out what the numbers are for a civic lease.. Weymouth numbers are very close if not correct on leasing different honda models. it will also give you a leasing price guide for the Civic.
You might even consider a ride to MA.. You should be able to get the one of the best lease deals from Weymouth honda. I love there leasing calculator.
Thx Brian for the thorough math! yes, the destination fee is already included. i wasnt really comfortable with the existing offer and the trade-in value. So I wanna have another try in different dealer for old car trade-in, just to reassure myself... the result turned out quite unexpected, the maximum trade-in value the new dealer can give on my current car is only $2500! the previous dealer initially said my car is $3500 max, and they will do $5000 if I trade it in for the accord EX-L... so i am very happy with this purchase now...
Hi @brian125, so glad that all of us can share the purchase experience here,
I live in Greater Boston area, want to get a Accord EX-L V4 by the end of the month. I saw people getting $25XXX OTD price in VA,DC,MD area, not sure how the market goes in MA, NH area. Is it a good idea to stick to $25xxx OTD price when I negotiate. Or $26000~268000 is the target range? Thank you for your help.
I am ready to buy 2014 Accord EX in Tampa area, there will be no trade in or financing needed, what is the expected OTD price I should pay? any decent dealers in the areas that I should go to? Brandon Honda seems to be the biggest and hopefully the cheapest. I was willing to pay 25,100 OTD
IS the EX-L worth the extra $$, I do not need heated seated here in Florida
Just my opinion learningtofish. I bought an EX-L in December with help from the forum. The upgrade wasn't for the heated seats. I needed the leather. With a bad back it really helps to slide right into the seat. That is worth every penny to me. And the leather looks and feels nice too. Mine is with Navi. Maybe you don't need the navi. But hubby is lost in space without it lol.
Thanks Dancing, what was the OTD price for the EX-L? I think the EX will be great, but leather is nice of course to have. I need to compared the OTD for the EX and EX-L
Brian, I went to the Weymouth site and the lease calculator is really neat. I cannot get the car so far away as my Mom is in her 80s and it would be a tough ride for both of us.
I did IM kyfdx but he doesn't seem to be around in either the Civic paid prices or lease forum. The mod in the lease forum michaell has been helpful with lease questions but does not know prices. Any other suggestions for pricing a Civic EX-L CVT automatic with Navi? Some dealers won't even give me a price unless I want the color they have or come in. It was easier by internet year's end in December.
I am so glad I found this thred. I just bought an Accord LX with CVT. It was the first time I went to a dealership and felt confident and knew what to do. Thank you, brian125 especially.
I did buy GAP for @400 because I financed to whole thing plus the sales tax.
I'm telling you, having all this info before going in makes all the difference.
I'm looking to purchase another 2014 Accord sport sedan and I wanted to know how much I should be looking to pay. I live in Houston Texas and the dealers here aren't really negotiating. Can someone tell me what incentives are out now and what I should pay?

Dancingdiva,
I dont lease cars so i'm really no help with finding out those numbers. They are needed to figure on pricing.
I would Im each moderator in all the car lease forums.. I'm sure someone can help. My only other suggestion would be to use the Weymouth lease caculator as your guide with the other dealerships. They are pretty close if not right on with there lease numbers.

Why dont you call the dealership where you purchased your last Accord and ask? when i'm not sure of incentives I call several dealerships... if i cant find it on these web sites..................... Edmunds, KBB.com, Cars.com, Nada .com
Before I can approach the dealers with a lease I need purchase prices in order to get the best lease. I am not sure if the prices I am getting are okay. The lease mod in the civic forum can help with the lease once I have a price for a buy. I have always been told to not discuss a lease until I have a good purchase price. Otherwise the lease will end up much more expensive. Unfortunately no one is around in the Civic buy pricing forum. The older posts in there are for a different configuration or lower end Civic.

I've been helping in the lease forum. I can provide the MF and residual, and model payments if I'm given the MSRP and negotiated cap cost, but since I'm not in the market, I can't comment on what a good selling price would be. I often direct folks to the prices paid discussions so they can see what others are paying for similar cars.
I recognize that there are often incentives available for purchasing that aren't available for leasing, but that isn't the case with Honda. The $800 cash on the Civic is for either purchase or lease.

Diva,
Whether you lease or buy use the same negotiating formula. No dealer has to know your leasing til you find your lowest price offer . Then you ask the dealer to run the lease numbers off agreed selling price. Check dealers lease numbers with yours. There should be a 500 or 750 lease incentive on the Civic. Check Edmunds for correct numbers.
Brian, Continuing w/our discussion on the Honda EX-L 4 cylinder in AZ. I landed up with an OTD price of $27.8K, but was very surprised when on my specifically asking if the tint was included, they replied in negative, and has still not specified an exact price, including that. The next best price with everything included is $28,200. 3 other dealers are in the $29K - $30K range. Most prices that I have got, stand good only till the weekend. Based on your experience, would you still advocate for waiting till month end (especially in the AZ market)
LOL.. Why would any of those prices not be good any day this month.. . Did you ask why??/ All dealer garbage . Dealer Thinks your a Un-educated buyer................. Thats why dealer said that...................... Scare tactic 101.
On the other hand when a dealer tells you after june 30th this price is void believe him..
Leo....... Ive been buying new cars for 45 years for family, friends and friends of friends. Well over 1000 vehicles purchased. I've seen and heard it all. Your target price to buy in AZ. after taking into consideration the dealers doc fee charge is 1500 on the high end to 1000 below dealers invoice price low end. Negotiate with your target dealerships until you both agree on a selling price that you feel is acceptable. Somewhere in between my target price.
Negotiate til you hit your target price. Be firm in your negotiation talks. Leave your email, and number with each dealer to think about your offer to buy. Let each dealer know.... I will be buying at months end unless I get my target price sooner. If your on the phone tell dealer.... I will leave a credit card deposit right now to show i'm serious. Otherwise if it takes til the end of the month to reach your goal then play the game of poker with each dealer. Remember your the buyer you have the leverage. You tell the dealers what price earns your business today. Its time to buy............. Thats your leverage. I Guarantee you this Leo....... if no dealer will go lower than your above prices by the end of June............... above quoted prices will still be good.................. lol
I would Call back dealer with the Tinted Accord and tell dealer breakdown your deal or you will remove them off your buying list.. If any dealer cant give you a exact price while in dealership or by phone remove them off your list . if they lie about pricing remove them. . The tinted windows is a nice feature but bear in mind the real price for tinted windows.. On my V-6 exl accord I had ft, bk and rear windows tinted from a Tint shop for 100 dollars. 175 dollars should be tops on tinted windows.. You might have to negotiate dealers tint price down some.
Leo please stop using OTD pricing.... None of use have any clue what your pricing actually is.
Agreed selling price w/ dest charge included is what you should be posting . Your states taxes and dmv charges are different than other states. Use OTD numbers if someone from your state wants to compare prices..
So I called the same dealer I helped my uncle buy from in December, and he has quoted me $22,080 OTD for a 2014 Accord sport sedan CVT. Is this any good? Our taxes here are 6.25%. I'm sure the fees range from $200-$500. This particular car has window tint, nitrogen filled tires, and all that bs that's normally added.
Just came home with a White 2014 Honda Accord Sport sedan CVT. Got it for 22,080 OTD and I also paid an extra $700 but I got them to give me the road hazard for the wheels and tires, the windshield, door ding protection and towing for 5 yrs 75k. (I think) I also got the extended maintenance plan for 5 yrs or 75k. I also got lost key replacement. They even threw in the body side moldings for free. I go in to get the moldings put on tomorrow. The car already had the windows tinted, so I dont have to worry about that. I hope I got a good deal. Please let me know how I did. So my total drive out with all the extras listed above was $22,780. I also got 0.9% financing as well.

Hi Leo,
I am also looking to buy a Honda EX-L with no Nav in Phoenix area. Went to one dealer to test drive and got this quote, 26908$ Invoice + TTL - 500 holdback to around 29k something. I was planning to slowly request quotes from other dealers and compare them.
Sounds like you have a good initial offer when compared to what i got. Hoping to hear more from you.
Thanks
Sri
Brian, I got a quote from one of the dealers in AZ for an OTD for Honda Accord EX-L at 29,500. Base price = 26,500. This includes Tax (2,150) + title (500) + doc (400) + destination fee (included). I was hoping to close the deal around (OTD) between 27K - 27,500. What would you suggest...
Sri, I got price from another dealer which was again around 29K. I see a range of 29,400 - 29,900. OTD

Appreciate all your help !
leo
EXL cvt, Invoice price with dest/ charge= 25,860 + 790 = 26,650.

Post if you need more help

Brian, I am getting varying OTD quotes from the dealers here. Ranging from 27.5K - 30K. I had not expected such a wide variation of prices. The lowest one does not have the color that I am looking for. What would you suggest ? Is the 27.5K price good ? or should I negotiate it down further.. Thanks !
Leo,
Read my above posts to you,, and apply what i talk about in them.. Use my target price high and low end as your guide.
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE

I have a few friends here in India who own this car, most of them are happy with it.
Hi All,
I know this is the Accord Forum but you all helped me with my purchase of a new Accord EXL w/Navi in December.
I always get good feedback in the forum so thanks for help in advance.
diva
Hi Brian,
Just find this useful forum... however, i already put my deposit for a 2014 accord EX-L, no navigation. with all season floor mat and wheel locks.
i havnt sign the contract yet, since dealer need to do a car swap for me to pick up this weekend.
Thanks !
I believe this $500 dealer cash is a national offer. and the dealer did show me a paper from Honda indicating a choice of $500 off OR 1.99% special financing...
i m at boston area.
The same dealer quoted me $22,295 before TTL to Los Angeles County on June 9. Would you tell me which salesman for contact? Would you also share how to negotiate your price? Thanks!
@starsnt :
Here is your deal;
EXL, no nav model = Invoice price with destanation charge of 790 included= 26,650.
selling price..........................w/ dest charge included.....................................25,119
total.............................................................................................................1531 below invoice price
minus dealers bs doc fee charge.....................................................................369.
Total........................................................................................................... 1162 below dealers invoice price
In the future Never, Never, Never, leave a dealer a deposit for a vehicle unless you both have agreed on the selling price/ have it in writing.
good luck tommorrow.

Same applies when you lease or buy. Negotiate with dealers for the lowest selling price then have dealership run the correct leasing numbers to the deal. Make 36 equal payments with little or no money out of your pocket.
Try any one of the leasing forums for help on the money factor, residual, etc.
Im @kyfdx@Edmunds he is in the Accord lease forum.

1300 to 1800 below dealers invoice is where the market is in your area.
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
You help is really appreciated. Thanks!

I am so glad I found this thred. I just bought an Accord LX with CVT. It was the first time I went to a dealership and felt confident and knew what to do. Thank you, brian125 especially.

Brian,
Before I can approach the dealers with a lease I need purchase prices in order to get the best lease.
Thanks anyway.

LEO,
