Can you also explain how much the discounts for the additional security deposits are? I mentioned to the dealer but the woman I spoke with didn't seem to understand. I assume this is something from BMW directly and should be offered at all dealers?

I would shoot for 7% off.. Hopefully, no more than $1000 higher than that, then deduct the $1500 incentive.

Each MSD lowers the money factor by .00007, for a total reduction, if using the 7 maximum of .00049. Making 7 MSDs would lower the residual from .00130 to .00081.

It's not nearly as common as it seems, for as much as it's discussed here, but it's a good deal. It's very possible that a salesperson wouldn't have a lot of familiarity with it, but the finance person should. As much as dealerships try to obfuscate the deal, they may think that adding more complexity might cause them to lose a deal, so they don't bring it up.

MF is .00130 for both, as is the 36/15 residual of 59% and option credit of $1500.

Question I seen a post of 61% residual on 535i 12k miles a year & .00130 MF and $1,500 option credit. So if one is able to say negotiate down to $500 above invoice, the option credit should then be applied so the price would be $1,000 below invoice? Next week I'm going to an un4gettable sales event where the dealer said I would get a $1,000 credit towards the purchase or lease of a BMW. Any idea how this $1,000 would be treated?

Yes.. that's correct.

Most additional/special credits from BMWFS have to be used as a CAP cost reduction on your lease. So, once you negotiate your variables, the $1000 is applied to lower the CAP an additional amount.

Hi, I am trying to lease a 535i with 36 month and 12k miles/yr. And got a quote almost identical to Edmund's "True Market Value". Has anybody successfully negotiated and got lower sale price than "True Market Value"? With helpful info on this board I am getting 0.00081 MF w/ MDS. But I saw a $925 bank fee. Is this a mark up? Any way to reduce? Thanks!

The bank fee is marked up from the $725 base. The best deals reported here, seem to be about 7% off MSRP minus the $1500 incentive.

I negotiated a 2014 bmw 535xi m sport for 649 a month, 66450 msrp. 7 msd total 4550 to .00081, 304 registration, 369 doc, 1972 tax, 925 bank, 6 tire tax. I was also offered 1500 for cna tire insurance with comestic. For the 19 all season. I live in nj, drive to manhattan for work so I am considering getting the insurance. 36mo/10k lease. What am I trying to get my monthly payments to be for the lease and how is the price I'm being offered for the insurance?

Buying down the MF with MSDs is always a good idea - and, the dealer is using the base MF to begin with so that's a plus.

Having driven in NJ a lot over the years on business, I understand your decision to consider the tire and wheel insurance. But, $1500 is adding almost $42/mo to your payment. Have you priced out what a replacement wheel or tire would cost?

Bank fee of $925 is marked up $200. What is the final negotiated cap cost? Make sure you get the best price before applying the $1500 option credit that is available.

58,080 is final price after the credit and having a bmw I'm bringing back for a new lease. The 1500 is separate from the monthly payment of 649. I was told I had to pay in full if I wanted it.

Ah, so they won't residualize the tire/wheel insurance. I suppose that makes sense.

When I run the numbers with $66,450 MSRP and $58,080 net cap cost with 61% residual (36/10) and .00081 mf, I get a pre-tax payment of $567.25.

-- Residual Value $31,263 (62% I believe)
-- Money Factor .00081
-- Drive Off Fees of $2,500 (includes tax, tag, title, first payment and acquisition fee)
-- No Down Payment

$441.80 per month PROVIDED that I pay the BMW Security Deposit of $3,150 which is returned at the end of the lease.

I know I didn't include the negotiated price of the vehicle but it wasn't provided to me. Thoughts?

The MSDs of $3150 are what buys down the MF to .00081.

$442/mo for a $50K vehicle is a darned good lease price.

I purchased the tire & rim insurance on my last lease (currently in lease, approximately 6 weeks left). I popped three tires, and just got one today actually. The total cost for a new tire was $285.80 on a 328i hard top convertible (no rim damage, just a roofing nail). Maybe that will help in your decision whether or not to purchase it. I paid the entire cost upfront before picking up the car.

Very interested to see how your deal turns out because I just today saw a 535xi with M package sticker price of $67,150, which I'm really liking. My lease is up first week of August, I'm not turning my car in early as it's a convertible and it's summer.

The tire and wheel insurance is overpriced. You can go to Discount Tire and purchase a tire warranty for about $25 per tire, even though you did not buy the tires from them.

If the option credit increased, we don't know about it. We still show $1500 option credit and $1000 eco credit for June.

Yes, The option credit went up to $2500 on Saturday, I lease a 535d today and the dealer give me $3500 credit $2500 option and $1000 Eco. Giving me a total discount of $9250 on a $65,000 car.

We won't know what the numbers look like until they're released to us. However, the MF for 2014's hasn't changed in several months; I see no reason to think they will change in July.

I was looking at the bmw lease special - 535i with a monthly payment of 509. This payments includes 2500 build out allowance and 3500 downpayment. To get to 509 with a total cap reduction of 6000 MF has to be 0.0008 yet the dealership says it's 0.0017. I don't get it. The one I picked is 64800 but the difference in 0.0008 and 0.0017 is about 100 dollars. Does anyone know for sure what the actual MF is in that newest bmw lease special?

The base MF for the 535i is .00130, so the dealer is inflating the MF on you. I'm only showing the $1500 option credit; if that changed mid-month, we wouldn't know about it.

Does the advertisement list the dealer discount from MSRP? I think the selling price is what you are missing from the equation.

We don't have any 2015 numbers for the 5-series. Must not be in the dealerships, yet.

ED gets a .0003 adder to the MF... sort of makes up for the "free" 2nd payment that BMW covers.

Instead of a down payment, why not make MSDs to lower the MF and payment?

We don't have complete information on the BMW numbers for July, yet. However, using the numbers you supplied on the 2015 535xi, I get that payment exactly, using a .00081 MF. (no accounting for tax, though).

Be careful with "inception fees". You should have a $725 acquisition fee, title/registration and of course the 7 MSDs. Plus, tax, if it's paid upfront in your state. And, some sort of dealer doc fee, which can vary wildly.

And, yes... the build-out cash is only on the 2014 model.

The dealer also told me they could give me a better deal including the $2,500 build out on a 2014 model. The dealer said there is no difference between the style of the 2014 and 2015 models.

I personally believe the inception fee and Document fee are rip-offs. What does BMW Financial Services charge to initiate a lease? Also, I should be able to get a better selling price - the dealer is only discounting the car. Would appreciate comments/feedback on the deal. Also, if you're aware of a Northern NJ dealer who discounts aggressively, I'd welcome the information.

You can use the shopping tools at t top of the page to help figure out the invoice price.

The inception, or acquisition, fee is part of every BMW lease. However, it is only $725, so the dealer is marking that up on you.

On the other hand the MF is the base rate.

Can't answer your question about discounting, as I've never shopped for a BMW. You should target invoice minus incentives, however.
