I have a dealer in Southern California that quoted me on a 2014 GS350 RWD (premium pkg, navi, blind spot monitoring, 18" alloy wheels, illuminated door sills, intuitive park assist, and rear lip spoiler): MSRP: $54,958 dollars.

15K miles per year, 24 month lease, $520/month + tax, $1500 total due at drive off

Is it possible to check if this is a good deal without him providing me the residual, MF, and net cap cost? Thank you.

It looks like a good deal.. The pricing seems cheap for a short lease on a car of that sticker price.. But, without the details, it's just a rough evaluation.

    Hi guys....

Ever since the redesign of the GS, I have been wanting this car, and waiting for a decent lease offer. Right now in NJ, the GS 350 AWD with an ADVERTISED price of $53,795 is $409 per month 10,000 miles per year with $2,999 due at signing.

I have not gone in to negotiate yet, and this deal seems to good to be true. For the last year and a half, the same deal has been the same, except at $469 per month.

I plan on trying to use multiple deposits in lieu of the down payment, with the $5000 in equity I have in my current (owned) vehicle.

What sort of figures and percentage number should I arm myself with prior to sitting down with the dealer.

I am wondering if I could get the same ballpark figure for 15k per year, but the deal seems to good to have any wiggle room.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,911

Is that for the 24mo, 10K/yr lease?

If so, the money factor is .00025 and the residual is 70%.

The dealer discount is $2775 from MSRP

    Due at signing is $4049 + $700 acq.fee - $1750 lease cash (provided by Lexus) = $2999

Lexus also covers the first payment.

You aren't going to be able to make full use of MSDs, as the money factor is already pretty low at .00025. If you can negotiate a bigger discount than the $2775, then you could put less upfront. Tax, title/registration and doc fees, extra.

Thanks for your input, the lease is for 27 months 10k per year 2999 down. I have never leased before, you say I really can't make use if msd's, is there any other options I have to negotiate (off sticker perhaps) or is this deal as sweet as I can get do you think? And how to negotiate a better discount than the 2775? Thanks again.

You can use MSDs, but maybe only two of them, given the low money factor. I think Lexus allows .00008 for each deposit. Making two deposits would take your money factor down to .00009. That would save about $13-$15/mo.

There probably isn't a lot of room left.. but, you negotiate just like you were buying a car.. tell them you want another $1000 off. But, be careful. Dealers aren't required to actually offer the advertised deal, and the may try to mark up the numbers. It's more likely you'll be offered a worse deal than the ad, not a better one.

What is a common level of negotiation off of sticker for a dealer to agree to, before lease cash/rebates?

I read about people getting 15-18% off of other cars so I wonder where the line is drawn from "I look like a madman asking for this" and "I did my research, I know this is possible"

There is a prices paid discussion, but I don't think it is very active. You can also use the pricing tools at the top of the page to get an idea of what price is achievable.

We can't comment on fees and taxes without knowing what state. Also, the payment is depreciation and finance charges, so you can't back into a CAP cost with knowing the money factor. With all that detail, you could just ask them the selling price.

Hey Guys.. I am looking to get the best possible deal on a Lexus GS350 F sport. This will be my 3rd car through my dealership and I am located in Upstate NY. The current deal is $2999 down $409 a month for a GS350 AWD. How much more should should I plan on paying for the F sport? And is there any way to keep the figures somewhat close for the F sport? I know it's a stretch haha

We'd need the MSRP, selling price, lease term and miles per year to work out a payment.

No difference in residuals with F-Sport.

I would recommend against making any sort of down payment on a lease.

I don't know the MSRP or Sale Price just yet, as the car is making it's way to the dealership from Japan. I would imagine it being around $60.5k MSRP. Lease term they have for the AWD is 27 months. Could you give me different pricing for a 27 month term and a 36 month? And also the lowest mileage possible, because I don't travel too far. 10k mileage? Thanks

I am thinking of leasing a 2014 GS350 AWD F-Sport (w/BSM, IPA and Preferred Accessory Package). Can someone please tell me what numbers I should be looking at for a 27 month lease with 10k miles (MF and Residual?) - is there anything else to watch out for? I was quoted a price of $53,500 before the Lease Rebate, so I am hoping they will come down to $51,750 after the Rebate. But I'm afraid the dealer will try to sneak in hidden fees because they already were tentative to match the $53,500 price. What else should I be on the lookout for? Is there a normal acquisition fee? Is that different than the Dealer Fee of $499?

Secondly, I ran the Edmunds.com lease calculator using a MF of 0.0004 and a Residual of 70% ($41,819 on an MSRP of $59,742) which I've seen others say they got. I'm in Virginia so tax unfortunately is charged all up front - off of the purchase price. I used a $551.75 value for Title, Registration & Dealer Fees, $1750 rebate, and a $700 acquisition fee.

Comes out to $470 per month. I heard if I put multiple security deposits down, I can lower the MF to 0.0002 which would lower the payments to $450.

Am I doing this correctly? I've never done this before  Don't know if they'll let me go without a down payment - if I have to, I'll use my trade-in as the down payment (Worth ~$5000).

This works out to be $53,969 if I buy the car at the end of the lease or basically very close to the price of purchasing it.

    Thanks!

The residual on a GS350 for 27mo and 10k is 68%, not 70%; the base MF is .00065. What is the net cap cost after all fees and taxes are rolled in?

We would recommend that you use your trade equity for MSDs and not as a down payment.

Thanks - So I haven't gone to the dealer to discuss numbers yet, but using the calculator - using the right numbers of 68% residual and a 0.00065 MF, I get a Total Loan Amount of $53,002 and a monthly payment of $540. If I use my trade in for MSDs, that would bring the MF down right? Can I get it down to as low as 0.0002? In that case the monthly payment would be $496/month.

Am I doing this right - and is that what I should expect at the dealer? Any places I can negotiate a better deal? Also - anything I should look for where the dealer would try to hide fees? A friend told me that I may be getting a "bump" in fees to get that price.

I'm not sure if tax is being calculated correctly in this example - tax should be $2095.88 (4.05% of the purchase price) if the rebate is subtracted for tax purposes and I think I have to pay that all up front. I forget it rebates count towards the tax calculation in Virginia.

If I use the MSRP of $59,742, a net cap cost of $53,002, residual of 68% and MF of .00065, I calculate a pre-tax payment of $519.28 for 27 months.

If the $53K number includes the sales tax up front, then that payment shouldn't increase. Each security deposit lowers the MF by .00008; the size of each security deposit is the monthly payment rounded up to the next $25. The MF cannot be less than .00001.

If I change the MF to .0002, then the pre-tax payment drops to $477.15.

How did I do? Dealer wouldn't let me take my trade-in money and use it towards MSDs, said that I am getting a special rate that couldn't be bought down - went back and forth for a long time before they finally lowered the MF without me using MSDs - all they would do is allow me to use the down payment as a Cap Cost Reduction.

27 Month Lease w/10,000 miles per year

Amount due at Lease Signing - $7,582.50 of which $2166.25 ($1750 + $416.25) was rebates and credits (So $5,416.25 out of pocket - $5000 went to cap cost reduction, $416.25 went to my first monthly payment - but they also took $416.25 out in a rebate - so I guess I sort of get it back).

    Monthly Payment - $416.25

Gross Capitalized Cost - $58,092 ($54,300 for the car (including a $300 dealer fee), $2,172 in taxes, $425 for title/license/registration, $495 for Excess Wear and Use Protection, $700 for Acquisition Fee)

    Cap Cost Reduction - $7,166.25

    Net Capitalized Cost - $50,925.75

    Residual Value - $40,676.24

    Depreciation - $10,249.51

    Rent Charge - $989.28

MF - 0.00039999131 (essentially 0.0004) - calculated this myself using Money Factor = Rent Charge / ((Net Cap Cost + Residual) * Term) and got the MF or ~0.9599%

There was no security deposit of $500, but there was the Excessive Wear and Use "insurance" for $495 ... I guess essentially a hidden fee.

Hi, it's been roughly seven years since I last leased a car and I am very rusty. Can you please provide the money factor and residual value on a 2014 Lexus GS 350 (MSRP $57,235). The term is 36 months and 18k miles per year.

I was quotes a residual value of $30,374 (or 46.93%) and a money factor of .00085 (or 2.04%). Would like to know if this is reasonable/fair.

    Thank you!

Our Lexus money factor information is regional, and a little spotty... but, I show .00065 for the base MF for most of the country (less on the West Coast). I don't have a lot of confidence in the accuracy of that number, though.

The residual is actually 57% for 36mo, 15K/yr, with a $0.25/mi. reduction for the extra 9000 miles ($2250 reduction). That makes your effective residual 53.07% (not 46.93%).

Sorry, I should have added that I'm in Houston, TX. Perhaps that will help with the accuracy of the money factor.

    cadenhead,

I just got a GS 350 F Sport last week in Houston. My terms were 36 months 10K miles. The residual was 60% (should be consistent nationwide). I got them down to a 0.00045 MF, so that is definitely negotiable.

@off would you mind posting a few more specifics of the deal (i.e. MSRP, selling price, incentives, monthly payment, and out of pocket paid)? Thanks.

@sk99 the car had an MSRP of $57,963, a selling price of $54,486. No cap cost reduction from me, they used the $1,750 incentive and the $850 complementary first month payment as the down payment. All fees and taxes capped, no money out of my pocket. The monthly payment worked out to $657.

@Michaell, 12k/24, 12k/27, and 10k/27. I guess whichever has lower payments. Sorry for multiple postings. Looking at few options here. Thank you.
