This should help with the job search of 2 1/2 months. I am looking in to jobs at Grand Junction, CO, Weston, WV, Ogdensburg, NY, and Richmond, IN, right now.
Congratulations. Richmond IN is close to us here in Greater Dayton.
So today was wild; prepped a car to put into loaner status, had a lease turn-in(and a lease pre-inspection), helped with a couple of deliveries, and sold a car on the CPO side. The sale was a pretty big deal because it helped meet the end-of-month CPO sales target. So that makes two for this month. Crazy...
Please don't take this the wrong way because I'm not knocking your salesmanship. But, isn't it easier to make a sale at the end of the month than at the middle of the month especially when a sale is needed to make a sales goal like you pointed out.
I know of 2 buys that I made at the end of the month where I hardly had to grind. All I had to do was say no thanks, I'm going to go see ABC Motors again. WAM, I got the price I wanted and the dealership got the sale they needed. All of the others took a little work.

We didn't cut the price on the X3 by a huge amount because we had just taken it in as a trade; I literally took it out of the detail shop before my customer test drove it.

Back 2011, I test drove the then redesigned Explorer. After the test drive I told the salesman that I would rather have the leather interior package which was around the same price as the upgraded wheels the test drive vehicle had. A few months later, I got an email from Sirius congratulating me on my new purchase. Next day I got a call from the dealer saying they had gotten in an Explorer equipped just the way I wanted it. I ended up buying it.

Michaell....that's a beautiful Mustang. Amazing what a Mustang will bring price wise. You could buy a Ford Falcon, same year, same equipment, drive exactly the same and it would only bring a small fraction of the price.
ILUV....congrats!
RB.....feeling more and more the dealership is easing you into a sales role.
Another black mark for the sales guy at my Caddy dealer: got an email from Cadillac thanking me for the purchase of a new Cadillac and asking me to do a survey on the sales process. I figured that would be fun, so I started it, but the first question was "Did you recently take delivery of a new 2017 Cadillac?" and when I said "no", the questionnaire stopped with some wording about how their information must have been wrong.
Hey, ab, what you need to do is double-check the car in your driveway (or garage) to make sure they didn't do a "slight of hand" and switch cars on you. It's pretty hard to get a sales survey without RDR'ing a new car (that's registering and recording a new car deal with the manufacturer for those of you unfamiliar with "car sales lingo")! I'd laugh my derriere off if you get a statement in the mail next month for the new car payment. It's happened to many others - so watch for it!
Ab, how could they get the info so mixed up? How is it possible for it to get recorded that you actually bought a car, when you didn't.
Shenanigans at play no doubt. I mentioned that I also got an email from SiriusXM on Monday congratulating me on my purchase. Not only had I not agreed to anything nor signed anything, I hadn't even been given any paperwork on the deal to review. Not even an offer sheet. Either the sales guy or more likely his sales manager was probably eager to meet some quota or hit some bonus, so they somehow recorded a sale. Keep in mind this is the same dealership I got my 2011 Regal from, and on that lease they botched up the paperwork so badly that I had the title document at home, issued in my name. They had no record of the lease being out there at all. No idea what happened internally. I could have just kept the car if I was so inclined.
How they have a good reputation is beyond me, based on my experience with them. The case of the Regal could only be explained by incompetence. This one seems more devious.
Drove the car this morning and checked out the trunk open/close procedures. If the car doors are all "locked", if you press the trunk open button on the key fob, the trunk no longer opens. Once I unlock the doors to the car, the open trunk button works and the trunk opens itself. As for the rubber "trunk open" button just above the license plate area, if I press it and the key is in my pocket, it also opens. If I lift my leg under the rear bumper, the trunk also opens so long as I have the key fob in my pocket.
So, it would seem that the only sacrifice I made by them reprogramming the computer has to do with opening the trunk using the key fob button. Otherwise, everything else remained the same.
I had to go in and reprogram all my settings since they had to reset the computer. We'll see how this works - hoping that the trunk does not open by itself any more. If it does, they will have to replace the car. I got an email from BMW North America verifying that this fix was the second attempt at correcting the inadvertent trunk opening problem. I have a case number now. The email states that if the problem has not been corrected, the zone technical department will get involved in replacing my current car with another. I can't complain about that, that's for sure. At least they are treating me appropriately.

I'm probably feeling extra-cranky today because the towel bar just fell off the wall in my newly-renovated bathroom. Jerk kid apprentice put it on to 3/8 drywall without finding a stud, so he used some plastic anchors and for good measure some construction adhesive on the back of the bar. When the anchor pulled through the thin drywall, the adhesive made sure it took a good part of the finished wall with it.
Biancar, nice to hear from you, glad you can add some real life experience to what it is like to have a 350Z.
I still really like it. No problems with it other than frequent tire purchases in more than 11 years of owning it. Took it in for the Virginia safety inspection sticker and oil change in April, and the service guy wanted to buy it from me. Said "Look at that, a 12 year old car, still looks like new."
As others have said, the OEM high-performance tires don't last long. I finally bought a set of Hankook all-weather tires and have been happy with them. That increased my winter drive-time by a bit, although I still don't take it out if it's snowy or icy. Cold is ok though.
Feels much more substantial on the road than a Miata, which I also test-drove back when I was shopping. The Miata felt like a toy on the highway; the Z feels nice and solid.
Last summer I had some knee and back issues and began to think about maybe replacing the Z with an Audi or even maybe a Buick Cascada, something easier to get into, but with the help of a good PT and a series of stretching exercises, back issues are now resolved. So will keep the Z for the foreseeable future after all. Driver's side seat is very comfortable, it was only getting in and out that were challenging for a while.
From April through much of October, I can enjoy top-down driving, and love it.

Richmond, IN, has gotten some good reviews. Interestingly, that job is eight hours five nights per week. I've never heard of those hours before. I have asked my recruiter to find out what time the hours start. I might be interested in that one, for the fact that it's only 8 hours per shift. Perhaps I could inch my aging body along easier that way!

WOW, that sounds like you have some pretty heavy high-end plush towels. I don't think there is a towel bar or towel ring in our house that isn't installed with plastic plugs. I outta know, I installed them. I would have chosen a spot where I could have used at least one stud, for the towel bar installations, but Mrs. j had to have the towel bar EXACTLY where there were no studs. :@ It was a decorating thingy.
I have a suggestion that might help; you get towels like the rest of us slops or install the towel rack with moly bolts or toggle bolts.

I was just kidding about the new colors, @abacomike.
But I had problems with my Cobalt's trunk opening. However, I have two sets of keys in my pocket, and the keys from one sometimes poke into the fob from another set. The trunk button seemed to easily get opened. Luckily the trunk only pops and does not lift up because it has the racing air dam on the trunk, whatever they're called. So no one would know the trunk has unlocked.
On the '14 Malibu the same problem occurred with that FOB. Of course GM has a two punch key fob available that I learned about through the Malibu forums. It requires two presses at about one second to unlock the trunk. Same for the stealth button on the trunk lid next to the center brake light strip. They replaced the BCM to effect the change (body control module). That trunk lid slowly opens when triggered. Usually was inside the garage so little problem. The cause was the key fob's easy touch on the trunk button contact.

I think what happened was that the anchors failed right away when he installed them into the thin drywall, so he immediately went to the adhesive instead of fixing it right which only made it worse. I noticed that the bar had a slight angle in relation to the wall but thought at first that was part of the design. This week I noticed that got worse and it had some movement to it. Today when I put a fresh towel on it the top at either end pulled away from the wall.
The only way to fix it for sure is with some blocking behind the drywall where it attaches to the wall, which means cutting a couple of holes in the drywall and then patching them. The drywall seems too weak for any kind of anchor.
With my wife and daughter are away until Wednesday I set out to do some test drives. I walked the local CarMax and sat in a few cars. Was amazed by the number of SOLD vehicles and the crowd of people shopping. Ventured to the Mazda store and was impressed by the new CX-5. I spoke with a salesman that had been in the business for 20+ years and knew the salesman I had purchased several cars from in the late 90's. Went across the street to the Acura dealer with the intention of driving a TLX. I ended speaking with a salesman that all he wanted to do is qualify me and sell me on the spot. No thanks. I did sit in a new TLX A Spec, dark gray, red interior. GG, I love that red interior. It fit me like a glove. Traffic was so bad on the roads and interstate I just gave up on the idea of a test drive. Driving in stop and go traffic is no test drive. I think Mike put a spell on my Accord. I went into a convenience store for 5 min, and when I returned to the Accord, all windows and sunroof were wide open. I was kind of puzzled by that but remembered there is a function on the key fob that if you continuously press the unlock button, the windows/sunroof will open. I guess that button got pressed while in my pocket. No test drive today, kind of bummed.

Never been one to believe too much in "end of month" deals myself. I offer what I'm willing to pay, regardless of what the calendar says. If they accept, we have a deal. If not, no harm-no foul and I move on down the road.
That's a segue into taking a road trip in the Cobra since it's a beautiful day here, today. Went to the "Auto Livery" place today....same place that has the Z I posted earlier.
They were super busy. Nice folks. As mentioned, I've done business with them before, but it's been several years. The owner recognized me, even if he didn't remember my name. You know the Cobra is coming if you pull it up to a red light or into a drive way. Owner said he knew immediately what it was before he even turned around to see who was coming up their driveway. Not sure if that was BS or not, but he's proven to be a pretty knowledgeable guy in the past.
Anyway, they had 3 sales people working and all of them had deals going.
Owner asked if I was selling the Cobra. As I told him, everything is available for a price. But, my real reason was to look around at what he had. Probably 50% of his stock was what I'd consider semi-collectible.
They had this on the showroom floor....20K miles.....

Shouldn't Mike's Florida store have done just that for a customer, since it's possible to transfer settings like that. I might not have expected it at a Hyundai store, but the BMW store has gone far out the way to service their customer's needs. This was one step they could have added.

I agree, imid - a simple step to alleviate my having to spend 20 minutes resetting all my preferences. I had to reset the seat, mirrors, preset FM and Satellite stations, HD FM reception, graphic equalizers for FM, CD/DVD, Satellite and Bluetooth, just to name a few.
@roadburner: thanks for the after-thought RB, but they should have done that.
I just have a sneaking suspicion that the darn trunk lid is going to open again. The trunk lid is controlled by electric motors which is why the trunk fully opens. I'll always have that sinking feeling every time I park the car and lock it.

The logic of what they said they are doing sounds good for the reprogramming.
One comment is that a lesser dealer would have lifted the trunk mats, soaked up the water, and told you to leave the trunk lid open in the sun. Or they would have kept the car a few days and left the trunk lid open.
The BMW dealer could have done that to remove the free water and put in a dehumidfier and circulation fan to extract all the moisture from the mats and other parts in the trunk that absorbed it. And could have had an ozone generator to kill mold and mildew that exists inside.
Does BMW have a switch to shut off the power trunk? On our Enclave there is a switch that deactivates the power lift gate even from the remote. If the car has that you could always shut it off when you are parked and there is a chance of rain

A few months later, I got an email from Sirius congratulating me on my new purchase.
Next day I got a call from the dealer saying they had gotten in an Explorer equipped just the way I wanted it.
I ended up buying it.

However, I can't help but think, does this mean your are only allowed to work on 77% of the folks that walk through the door?

How they have a good reputation is beyond me, based on my experience with them. The case of the Regal could only be explained by incompetence. This one seems more devious.

If @iluvmysephia1 takes that job, let's hope you don't need his services. Especially if you're not in the 77% group.

No one ever "needs" a convertible, but it's more fun than anything else if you can drive it top-down at least six months of the year.
Did he look like this guy?
Some of the whine reminds me of what was encountered by the youth of the 60s from the old establishment. The more things change.

Jmonroe, no, that means I get to work on 100% of the patients that walk through the door. Nice try, though!

I have a suggestion that might help; you get towels like the rest of us slops or install the towel rack with moly bolts or toggle bolts.

2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
The only way to fix it for sure is with some blocking behind the drywall where it attaches to the wall, which means cutting a couple of holes in the drywall and then patching them. The drywall seems too weak for any kind of anchor.

This was right next to it for $122K....
I might not have expected it at a Hyundai store, but the BMW store has gone far out the way to service their customer's needs. This was one step they could have added.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
I agree, imid - a simple step to alleviate my having to spend 20 minutes resetting all my preferences.

2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Does BMW have a switch to shut off the power trunk? On our Enclave there is a switch that deactivates the power lift gate even from the remote. If the car has that you could always shut it off when you are parked and there is a chance of rain
