Bradd, I never considered you to be SUPER MACHO but after that episode with "running on empty" I have changed my opinion of you.  Running out of gas is one of the most "macho" things a guy could do.

you say to yourself, as you look at your fuel gauge below the E in your instrument cluster, "...go ahead, make my day - I dare you to run empty on me!"  Then, low and behold, "cough, choke, splat, stall!"

    Macho, macho, macho!!!

Yup! That's me. 5'10" & 155 lbs of manliness! Argh! argh! argh!
That's me too. This is a car site right....not a dating site I hope!

How about a brief review of the Subie. Wouldn't mind hearing early impressions of the ATS and CTS X3 and others as well.

There is NO WAY I'm going to be able to follow up @graphicguy's opening act;). Brilliant review. I'm glad you like your CTS. Magnetic Ride Control has been around in the Corvette world for a while. I completely forgot they even offer it on the CTS. Your Caddy is in some very well regarded company that used to occupy your garage (TL SH-AWD & 335i Performance Pack) so I'm sure it is every bit as special as you make it out to be.

My Legacy represents many "firsts" for me in my driving life. It's my first Subaru, my first CVT, my first horizontally opposed boxer style engine, my first blue car, my first car with light colored seats, and its the 1st car I've owned & driven daily in 12 years that pumps out less than 200 horsepower.

I'm happy with my Legacy. It is a comfortable & competent daily driver. The CVT is responsive, smooth, & well matched to the 2.5L H4 motor. I'm really impressed with the Audi-esq interior materials in a car that stickered for less than $25K.

It is far from the fastest rig on the road, but has no problem getting up to speed or passing on the highway.

I'm currently averaging 27.6 mpg and over 477 miles per tank.

It has 3 stage heated front seats, dual automatic climate control, steering wheel mounted audio controls, a 3 spoke steering wheel that feels just right.

Subarus have a reputation for being extremely durable, reliable, & absolutely unreal in the snow. I hope to enjoy it for years to come.

I actually have a buying (well, shopping) story. I put a long winded version on chronic car buyers.

short version. Honda dealer. Shell games. Felt dirty. Left. Will never go back ever.

They were obviously way more interested in trying to shim sham a lease payment than to work out a reasonable deal. Ever after I asked repeatedly for the factors used all he would do is show me a payment written out by hand on paper (one that was 2x what I was quoted, via Email, no negotiation, on a more expensive Honda model elsewhere).

The Salesmanager was frankly a slimeball that I would not trust to put my dime in the meter. so after some brief "discussion" the wife and I just said we are obviously far apart, no reason to waste more time, so we hightailed out the door.

very different than the 2 closer dealers to me that actually offer realistic pricing up front, and are reasonable, professional and even pleasant to deal with. Plus, when they come back with their first "optimistic" offer, they bring back the printout that shows all the #s that went into it, so you can actually discuss something real.

Needless to say, tomorrow I will be at a different dealer, with hopefully a much better outcome.

Bradd, glad you are enjoying it still. I may go that way for my next car. For this one, thanks to college tuition related cash flow concerns, I am going with the cheap option. A sube with a moonroof runs quite a bit more money.

my goal now is to get something basic, boring but nice at a big discount lease. In 3 years, I will get something I really want, just for me, since we will be done paying tuition by then.

I think you'll be happy with an Accord EX. I also think you are making a smart choice cheap leasing & not buying something used.

    DROPPING LIKE FLIES

When you live in a retirement community where a majority of the inhabitants have been retired for 20+ years, frequent sightings of the fire department's ambulances and EMT's are commonplace.

Last night at 11:30 PM, one of our last surviving original neighbors passed away.  That makes 6 unit owners on our floor alone who have died this year.  It's like a ghost town here lately.

The condo units are selling quite quickly and younger couples and singles are moving in.  So our empty parking area is slowly filling up with Stangs, Camaro's, Optimas and Cadillacs.  Quite a few are Canadians who live here only 5 months a year.

If this continues, which is really inevitable based on the fact that people are not immortal, the golfers and tennis lovers will be filling up our facilities (which of late have been seriously underused due to the average age of the residents being deceased) on our golf course and tennis courts.  Even the basketball courts have come to life once again.  One can see joggers and bicycle riders utilizing the 2 mile circular drive in our complex lately.

I guess our community is slowly but surely getting "younger" as the paramedics remove the deceased from the community on a daily basis.  If I live long enough, I might even see baby carriages and playgrounds being constructed.

The average Condo unit here now sells for $175,000+ for a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit. I might even change my mind about staying here if the average age of yhe unit owners continues to drop.

That Audi recall of 180,000+ 2013-2015 A4's and S4's (also one other model) due to improperly programmed air-bag deployment systems is a big one for Audi.

Driver, you should check the recall out to see if yours is included before you leave for Florida.

Our 2013 Audi A4 sits in the garage here while we are in Florida. Our daughter may use it if she needs it. Actually, I hadn't heard of that recall but I will watch for it.

btw....my wife still loves her A4, and my friend with the Maserati loves his A4. I really enjoy driving it. The E400 is a great comfortable car....but, the A4 is a lot more fun.

Thanks for the good wishes on the trip. We start out tomorrow afternoon, just 3 hours to Windsor for the night, and then 20 hours of driving Sat and Sun. They are talking about flurries around here for the next few days, so I am glad temp near Tampa will be in the 70s! Sounds good to me.

Stick, I give you a lot of credit sacrificing your own desires to put kids through college. Due to circumstances beyond my control I didn't have to do that in a major way - although I did have to do it, but, it is admirable that you put your children first. A lot of us have had to do that and it is, just what we do, but, there are lots of people who wouldn't do it.

Saw that saga over at CCBA, Stick. Some dealers just don't seem to get it. They seem to relish having the ill informed and the weak willed shop at their stores. Why? I don't know. I really wouldn't that to be my customer base.

Then again, I check my restaurant bill for errors, too. I'd say 25% of the time, I find errors.

Any dealership that doesn't want you to check their numbers or to see how they arrived at them isn't very trustworthy, IMHO.

Whenever I'm at a dealership, and they ask how I came up with my numbers, I gladly show them.

Just as a recent example, the current Caddy deal, the finance office had made a mistake on taxes. I bought it in one county, which has a tax rate that's higher than the county I live in, and where I'll register it. Only a 1/4%, but it still came out to be over a couple hundred dollars. Easy mistake, and understandable. But, it's still a mistake.

Hang tough. Love to hear how everything turns out.

The magnetic ride control has been around in GM since at least 1993. It's in my factory service manual for Park Avenue, leSabre, Bonneville, and Oldsmobile. I don't know if it was an option or standard on certain models. Several people on forums have been shocked at the cost for replacing the struts on those early cars compared to standard equipment.

GM's been improving the capabilities ever since through the use of more information about the ride being used to modify the strut settings.

Dayton OH just had a story on TV news about their van they park along I75 in the construction zone with speed cameras. I'd seen this a couple times during the last year. But now that the speed limit is 45 mph and the pavement is new concrete roadbed, many people are going nearer the 55 speed limit and many are far over that. They're making a lot of money.

I suspect it violates their charter governing the use of speed cameras. There are NO signs on I75 at the city limits announcing that they may be used electronic equipment to monitor speed and red lights. There also are NO signs a hundred feet in advance of the mobile speed camera. So most tourists won't know they were checked because the van is parked where other workers have their vehicles parking as they work on the new roadway.

The news anchor read of the line that the purpose is to reduce speed and thus accidents by using them. 99% of the folks traveling through are from outside the city so they won't know the speed cameras are there. So how would they know in advance to slow down. All the cameras are doing it sending an $85 ticket to the registered owner of the vehicle. I wonder how they handle Canadian vehicles?

The news anchor read this with a straight face.

I had heard about that. I don't get up that way much (maybe to Wright Patterson AFB every once in awhile).

For the life of me, I still don't understand how that is legal? And, for the life of me, I don't understand how those responsible for this sort of robbery are elected/re-elected? To me, the kind of politicians who advocate and implement this should be prosecuted for gross neglect of duty.

Thanks for the heads up Imid. I will be extra careful around Dayton. I am really trying to be good, I hate to have my insurance rates jump just for a silly speeding ticket.

Most states have reciprocal agreements with Canada, and they share information. I understand if you don't pay they can send someone to collect and charge expenses.

I got my speeding ticket in Tennessee on the way back from Florida, 3 years ago. Tennessee is one of the few states that does not have reciprocal agreements with Canada or with other states, which was nice for my Canadian insurance and Florida insurance rates.

Speaking of a mistake in math, for a 1/4% difference in tax to wind up over $200, your taxable amount would have to exceed $80,000. I haven't heard of Cadillacs being that expensive!

Wouldn't mind hearing early impressions of the ATS and CTS X3 and others as well.

I'll do my best on the ATS, though I cannot match @graphicguy 's encyclopedic review of his wonderful CTS.

So, in reading my comments, keep in mind that his car is probably worth $20K more than mine. It has relatively few of the bells and whistles that his fully loaded CTS has. Having said that, it is very different from what I expect most people (including myself) think of when they think Cadillac. This is much more BMW 3-series like in terms of the drive and performance. That, in fact, is probably the biggest thing I discovered about it now that I am in my second week of ownership. You get a sense of how a car is on a test drive, but it is not complete until you've lived with it for a while. I've discovered - to my delight! - that it is a little rocket ship that corners like it's on rails, has outstanding steering feel (it also has a ZF steering rack) and drives like nothing I've ever owned. It just wants to zip everywhere!

I am struck first of all by how many people comment on it. It is a good looking car no doubt, especially in the Obsession Red paint and with the polished wheels I got, but I think it goes beyond that. I'm noticing people commenting on it because it's a Cadillac. It surprises me that the brand still has that much cachet.

For a base model, it still has a lot of stuff. I like CUE and how it performs. I honestly don't understand some of the criticism I read about it. Even without Nav, it is a good system for managing your tunes and climate control. And it looks really good. The seats up front are fine with my only criticism being that the lumbar support adjustment doesn't seem to do very much. I am pretty sure it is one of those inflatable bladder systems, whereas the one in my Regal was some sort of mechanical thing that felt much more emphatic. If I could do something there, I would. But the seats are comfortable and hold you in place. The interior just looks fabulous IMO with good materials and design. I don't have all the ambient lighting the CTS has but do have light around the door handles inside and of course CUE helps brighten the interior at night as well. No complaints on that front.

The only negative for me, not a really important one since I'm single, is the back seat. It is pretty small. I set the passenger front seat to the most forward position that I would still be comfortable in, then "sat behind myself" in back. I could fit, and could tolerate it, but it is tight. On the driver's side in back, with the driver's seat adjusted how I like it, forget it. But the only time I go back there is to clean the glass, so not a big deal. The trunk is small also, and my one real criticism of the car is that the base model does not come with a fold-down rear seatback to mitigate that somewhat. I think that is an inexcusable mistake on Cadillac's part. You only get that if you buy the next model up. Really... you get that on an econobox, but not on one of these? Bad move.

But driving it... wow. It rides nicely, not too stiff, yet it corners like no car I've owned since my old GTI of 2 decades ago. Better than that, actually. And the power, like GG's car, is always there. The turbo 4 puts out 272 HP and delivers it very nicely. The 6-speed automatic seems to find the right gear easily. It is plenty fast enoiugh for me to get into trouble. I don't have paddle shifters but instead a manual shiftgate on the console if I want to shift manually. I haven't really played with that yet but I know I will.

For me, one of the things that tells me I made a good choice is when I look out my back door and see it parked in the driveway. It just looks so good sitting there! I smile every time I do that. Feels good to have something that just feels so right. So far, I'm really happy.

Just got home from shopping several new cars just to make sure I am doing the right thing by buying a 2015 E 400 Sport Sedan. With all the talk on this site about Cadillac, Audi, and even Jaguar, I decided to make a final decision to ensure I got the most comfortable and best performing car out there for the money.

The first place I stopped was over at a local Cadillac dealership. All they sold was Cadillac - no "romper room" type of dealership with several GM brands under one roof. I walked into the showroom and was greeted by a salesman. I guess he saw me get out of my CLS 550 because he asked me if I was thinking of trading in the Mercedes for a new Cadillac. I thought that seemed a bit presumptuous of him, but I let it slide and merely indicated that I was out shopping today and wanted to look at the CTS and the XTS to see if I fit well inside the vehicles and what their performance and handling were like. I asked him if it was OK for me to browse in the showroom and sit in both models. He said certainly, but he followed me everywhere I went and when I sat in a vehicle, he sat down right beside me in the passenger seat going over all the features. I asked him if it was OK for me to just browse alone without any assistance and his response was, "...well, the owner for the dealership insists that we always stay with a customer and not leave them alone in the showroom." I said that was fine.

The first car I sat in was a black CTS which must have been pretty loaded for $57,000+. The first thing I noticed was that I felt a bit cramped and my legs were not comfortable under the steering wheel, even after adjusting it. The seats seemed a bit narrower than what I was used to as well. The dashboard, console and leather seating were all of very high quality and the fit and finish was excellent. Visibility to the front and sides was quite good, however I felt the rear visibility was lacking somehow, much like by CLS 550. Mirrors was smaller than what I was used to as well. The salesman noticed I was shifting around quite a bit and suggested that I look at the XTS which was higher off the ground and quite a bit larger.

He did not have one on the showroom, so he brought one around to the front of the dealership and asked me to sit in the passenger's seat. He drover off the lot and pulled over and we switched seats. The quality of the interior of the vehicle was outstanding and the seats were much more comfortable for me (remember, I am 6'2" and weigh about 240. The seats adjusted to my comfort level rather quickly. The car was fully loaded and MSRP'd for $64,130 and had every conceivable option included AWD, which I insisted on because I hate FWD cars. NAV and displays were intuitive and all voice activated. The car drove heavier than I imagined it would and was quite responsive. It was a Crystal Tint Tricoat color (red) with saddle seats. It had around 300 hp which seemed sufficient. I liked the ride and handling and I was extremely comfortable in the car. Thus, it seemed that if I purchased a Cadillac, it would be this one, to be sure.

I asked him if there were any incentives on the 2015's and he said there was some loyalty money available as well as .9% financing. Since I was not interested in financing. it appeared there was nothing available to me. We went back into the showroom and while he was sitting right in front of me, I went on to Edmunds using my mobile phone and foiund the Tru-Market Value as being $61,500 and invoice showed as $59,600. I had to believe there was trunk money available so I asked about trading my CLS 550 in. I figured it was worth $61,000 and after you add dealer fees, etc., it should have been an even trade.

He took my key and jotted down information and had the used car manager look it over. He came back and said, "...I have good news for you. It will only cost you $3,300 and your trade and you can drive the new car home today!" I've heard that line many times before - "I have good news...."! I used to use it when I sold cars. I guess some things never change. I asked the salesman what they were selling the car for and what actual cash value did they place on my trade? I also pulled out one of my old business cards from Infiniti to let him know I knew what I was saying and what I was doing. He immediately said to please wait as he was going to have me work with the new car manager. About 5 minutes later, this guy came over, shook my hand, and began to shoot the breeze with me about the owner of the dealership I used to work at and some of the odd behaviors the owner used to exhibit - which by the way he was quite familiar. I then asked him those same two questions - what was he allowing in cash for my CLS and what was he selling me the new XTS for. He said he was giving me $58,000 for the Mercedes and was selling me the XTS for $61,800. I informed him that the auctions are showing my car as being valued, on average for $60,000, and that my car was in perfect condition with under 10K miles and should be worth $61,000. He disagreed and then started to give me all kinds of reasons why my car was not worth that much.

I had heard enough - I stood up, asked for my key back, and said the deal was unattractive to me considering what they were offering for my car. The manager said he had made several calls to Mercedes dealerships and that was the best he could get for my car. I said again, "...may I please have my key back, I have an appointment I need to get to." He then said he could stretch the ACV on my Mercedes to $58,500, and I again asked for my key back. He got up, walked toward the offices with the salesman, and I sat there waiting for at least 10 minutes. I got up, walked toward the offices, poked my head in and again asked for my key back. The manager said, "...you mean the salesman hasn't given you the key yet? I gave it to him 10 minutes ago." He paged the salesman, and after 10 more minutes, the salesman comes to the showroom, but without my key. He said he must have misplaced my key. That was all I needed to hear. I started to raise my voice and demanded my key back or I would call the police department. In 30 seconds, the key was delivered to me by the receptionist and I was out of there.

Too bad - the car was pretty nice, but on two counts I decided against the Cadillac - it was not as solid as the Mercedes E Class and not spirited enough - a bit too hesitant. The other reasons was the way I was treated. I thought dealerships stopped doing that to customers, but boy was I wrong.

    Next stop - Audi

I pulled in to the local Audi dealership which was a block from the Cadillac dealership. I walked into the showroom and all the available salesmen were busy with customers. I walked over to an A6 and sat on the driver's seat. The seats were very stiff and even after adjusting them several times, I just could not handle the back pain (lower back) from sitting in those seats. I tried the lumbar support, but all it did was make my lower back hurt more.

I sat in an A4, but it was too tight for my comfort - much like the CTS. I then walked over to an A8, sat in the driver's seat, and was immediately very comfortable. It was extremely luxurious and the visibility was quite good.

A salesman approached me and asked if I needed any help. I said I would like to drive one, and as I got out of the car and saw the sticker price at $85,000, I told the salesman to forget the demo drive. The car was much more than I wanted to spend. He then asked if I would like to drive an A6, but I told him the seats were just too stiff for me and quite uncomfortable. He admitted that the seats tended to be a bit stiff for many people. I thanked him and left the dealership.

    Tomorrow - Jaguar.

Can't wait to gear the review on the A8. Gotta figure the 6 is too small for you. Though I assume a loaded 8 is quite pricey.

You hit the nail right on the head.  The A6 was not too small, it was just the seats - like sitting on a park bench made of wood. The rest of the car was fine.

You have done a good job with the review. I'm glad to see that both you and GG are expressing that your cars were better than you ever expected a GM/Cadillac to be.
    ab348 said:

But driving it... wow. It rides nicely, not too stiff, yet it corners like no car I've owned since my old GTI of 2 decades ago. Better than that, actually. And the power, like GG's car, is always there. The turbo 4 puts out 272 HP and delivers it very nicely. The 6-speed automatic seems to find the right gear easily. It is plenty fast enoiugh for me to get into trouble. I don't have paddle shifters but instead a manual shiftgate on the console if I want to shift manually.

Power? Here's the graph showing the torque output is really flat from a low speed up. IMHO the torque is what most drivers are realizing when they drive; only those staying at high RPMs could sense a difference in the horsepower output.

    I call that a well-tuned engine.

Seats that are too firm are a deal killer as well for me. Just for kicks, check out the new 2015 Buick LaCrosse. The Premium II with luxury package AWD would list for 47-48K and has all the bells and whistles. As a car guy, I would love to hear your impressions. I'm happy with mine -- it's no MB for sure but it doesn't cost as much either. Figure 8K off MSRP.

Here's the same engine, same company label, in the CTS. Note the difference in the torque curve not being as flat, but the horsepower is a little higher throughout the horsepower range. E.g., at 3000 RPM the CTS horsepower is 175, while the ATS's horsepower is about 150.

There's a combined Buick/Cadillac dealer a few miles from me.  Maybe when I finish looking at the Jaguar XF, I'll mosey on down to look at it.  Thanks for the tip, jayrider.

Ab....I enjoyed reading your review. I am impressed with how you guys are enjoying your Caddies. Since the car is competing with bmw 3 and Mercedes C it is surprising they couldn't come up with more backseat room and trunk space. But, I suppose for most people that is not a big factor in that market. Sounds like the handling comfort, fit and finish are all excellent, and that's the main thing.

Mike, good reviews. If you still go with the E after all this it will just confirm you made the right decision for you....so keep on testing. It will be interesting to hear your views on the Jag and Buick. I guess the bmw is out because of your last experience. I know from owning it and from what you feel are important, it just won't measure up for you. I'll look forward to hearing your review....and, I have to say, that slimey Cadiallac dealer sounds like one place you don't want to buy from.

  • Well, Mike, you’re not alone in your car concerns. I’ve had a couple of interesting developments this month. First, we sold the van Tuesday after being listed 10 days and dealing with a few Craig’s List scammers and flakes. We came across a nice couple genuinely grateful for a van so well maintained after they seized the motor in their last car due to an engine oil leak. Selling the van is the good news.

The bad news, we’re returning the 2015 Subaru Outback. When we picked up the vehicle, besides the front bumper being drilled for a license place despite our strict instructions not to, I noticed a couple of minor door dings highlighted in the fading day light. We booked a time to have those worked out with the dealer’s body shop, and during that appointment under the bright shop lights the dealer found literally dozens of shallow dings. They believe the car was caught in a Denver hail storm in late September while sitting in the regional lot awaiting delivery north.

The dealer is working with Subaru to return the vehicle and secure for me a new one in the exact same specification. We’re still working out the details, but from the sounds of things Subaru will provide us a rental vehicle while they re-route an already completed Outback or assemble a new one in Indiana. I’ll be stopping by the dealer tonight to gather more details.

We’re obviously disappointed over the situation and question why the delivery guys didn’t catch this from the start, but the dealer sales team is doing what they can to make the situation better. Hey, at least I get a second chance at a non-drilled bumper.

Aside from this "minor" inconvenience, we've absolutely loved the Outback and I'm stunned over how accurate the safety systems are, including Eyesight, blind spot detection, and rear cross traffic alert. A sincere "thank you" to the Edmunds team that encouraged me to pick the safety options. I don't regret the decision one bit and will not purchase another vehicle without them.

@imidazol97, I read that for 2015 the ATS is receiving the 2.0L Turbo engine with the higher torque rating of 295 lb-ft. There are also a few other changes that I wish my car had, like proximity unlocking and wireless smartphone charging. Ah well, I saved some significant money taking the '14.

Hello, Mike. After reading your write up of the Caddys and the Audis, I fear you will not fit comfortably in the XF. Take a gander at the XJ while you're there, that's the Jag version of the A8, 7 and S. A bit less expensive to start than those, end of year, I'd think deals to be had. In fact, according to cars.com:

2014 XJ: Up to $10,175 cash! Even $5000 on '15 XJ
2014 XF: Up to $6500 cash!
    1.9% Finance, too.

Note these are for my Boston area zip code.

11+ months with my XF (I'm average height/weight), no real issues to report. Other than, of course, Pace with Grace!

Good luck at Jag, look forward to your thoughts.

The graphs of the torque/horsepower data are for 2015. I was not able to find the 2014 data. This information is from GM's website, so I believe it's likely correctly?

My interest in this engine is that your experiences suggest what I was told about the 2.0 turbo in the Malibu, that's it's really quick. We almost bought one that was on the dealer lot with the 2.0L.

I think you will like the seats better than the XTS which is having reliability issues. The LaCrosse is top rated.

Sorry to hear about your Subaru ... my daughter's car got caught in the same storm, to the tune of about $5000 in damage. It goes into the shop in a few weeks for the repairs. A co-worker of hers had her car totaled.

Like Mike and his MB saga, it looks like your dealer and Subaru corporate are stepping up to do the right thing.

Sounds like you got things corrected with Suburu.  What I get angry about is that they knowingly sold you a car that was damaged in a hail storm.  When your car was detailed for delivery, they knew exactly what was wrong - they just did not want to lose a sale.

At least they are trying to make it right.

I won't buy a BMW 535i because I had one and was dissatisfied with the sound system and the fact that they could not find out what was wrong with 2 brand new 2008's I had that kept discharging the batteries.  Those 2 cars spent weeks and weeks at the dealership's service department and all they could do is scratch their heads.

Mike! $20,000 cash back on a '14 Rolls Ghost! Can't pass that up...

The XJ is pretty well loaded to start, around $72k iirc. With $10k+ cash back, I'd think a deal could be had (mid $50s or less?). If it's the right car, of course.

0% Finance on a Ghibli, but I found it kinda tight inside when I was looking. Not that it's a bad thing, but a bit of Chrysler in the interior, too. One advantage to FLA living, no worries about RWD, snow and snow shoes!

Interesting; the mildly tuned 2.3 liter DI turbo 4 in my Mazdaspeed 3 has a similar torque curve, making 311 lb-ft at 3000 rpm, peaking at 324 lb-ft at 4000 rpm and dropping to 292 lb-ft at 5100 rpm. Peak horsepower at the wheels is 288 at 5500. Transmitting that power through the front wheels of a 3100 lb. car is interesting, to say the least, although on a track with mainly medium and high speed curves it is very hard to beat...

I believe I will find some of your money at a local casino... Seperated at birth, that's where you'll find much of my "fortune," too!

Emotional thing I think with Jag for me, you never forget a ride in an E-Type 'vert. Even if you were only about 8 years old.

Enjoy your car shopping. It's only been a year, and I miss shopping. XF is due for it's first (and only) "free" maintenance next month. I shall drop the car at the dealer, sit in F-Type Coupes and make vroom, vroom noises. That, and eating their food, should appease me. Until the Auto Show in January.

At work, in one of the reserved parking spaces nose in to the building, a new Cadillac. Probably a CTS. Looked bigger than an ATS, and not as FWD as an XTS.

I've been watching Greta Van Susterin on Fox News who has been interviewing Sgt. Andrew Tamoireesi (the Marine who was imprisoned in Mexico for 7 months).  This young man has gone through quite a bit - just looking at his eyes as he holds back his emotions and tears.

He has PTSD from 2 tours in Afghanistan. He has absolutely no affect or visible emotions.  He needs help and as quickly as possible!  What a story!  I don't know if everything he said was true, but if only one quarter is true, he has been to purgatory and back, that's for sure.

I heard that they spent time chatting about silly stuff while someone else looked up answers to feed them. I recall Steve Overbeck, who had a radio car repair program in Cincy for many years, talking about a convention where they were speakers in a side program. The people at the door limited the entrance to his wife but not to actual mechanics who could ask questions and know whether the Brothers were answering correctly or not. He actually said this on the radio. My opinion of the brothers was confirmed. However, it may just be that I don't have a sense of humor like their show needed in the listener.

But they were entertaining for many folks.
