    This boat attracted my attention for some reason. Seems a reasonable price compared to the stuff I see on the classic TV auctions. What's something like this worth assuming it runs and isn't half bondo? Looks about the size of the Dodge Polara I learned to drive on. https://albany.craigslist.org/cto/d/1964-chrysler-imperial/6617601920.html
    The owner calls it a “coop”? I know it’s CL, but c’mon! Never could understand someone selling a car because they’re moving. What? Can’t take it with you? It’s a car. It’s mobile. Owner sure doesn’t want to show the front seat area, either. I’m borderline on this one. I certainly would want to see and drive it, first.
    What if they are moving to Hawaii or Australia or Europe, can't drive it to those places. it gets expensive to ship cars over seas.

    Thought of @andres3 today.

    Saw a black TT convertible today owned by a guy who's obviously into his car. I noticed as it turned that the black rims had a flash of metallic blue next to the tires and may have had a stripe of blue on the black spokes that added a little color as the wheel rotated.

    Then I was behind this beautiful convertible at the stoplight and saw the metallic blue in the two "Ts" instead of chrome. Next stoplight I was beside him and saw the metallic blue on the circle around a gauge in front of him. I almost expected the seats to be metallic blue. I suspect there was more blue in other places.

    Oh, second thing I had noticed was the blue lenses on his sunglasses in the rear view mirror that exactly matched the blue on the wheels and in the TT emblem. Car really looked nice with it. Tastefully done.

    You are brave...driving in Toronto, or T.O. as we call it. I try to avoid driving there at all cost. Rather take a GO Train in...I think it is $18 return for seniors, a lot less than parking, which is probably $18 an hour.

    While the driving is bad it's not any worse that what I have gone through in Chicago. Visited Casa Loma today, really liked it.

    True, probably similar to Chicago. Casa Loma is cool. I haven't seen too many newer things, aquarium etc. Are you going to try the Edge Walk at the CN Tower? I think it is only about $200!

    @oldfarmer50,
    The shade of the paint on the right front fender doesn't match the rest of the same side.
    To me, it looks kind of awkward as a coupe instead of a sedan.
    Overall, condition seems ok, but no underneath or open hood pics.

    I noticed that too. Figured driver100 would catch that first.
    I did catch it, but didn't like the looks of the car enough to mention it. Few cars come out looking good when the trunk is way longer than the hood....that is just wrong.
    I like something like this way more. A 1968 Chrysler New Yorker, large windows, square, balanced look;

    We are doing the aquarium, the Royal Ontario Museum and the CN tower tomorrow but not doing the edge walk. We picked up the city pass and to get into some of these places. Looks like a boat ride and exploring the downtown area Friday and heading home on Saturday. That reminds me we came I  on the 402 and there are a couple of streaches of that road that are long and straight.

    Those are good things to do. If you came through Port Huron/Sarnia you were on 402. If you came through Windsor/Detroit, you came on 401. Around London Ontario 402 joins 401 and that gets you to Toronto. One of the busiest highways in North America, and I believe the part that crosses Toronto, is the busiest highway in North America.
    Have fun, the rest of the week should be pleasant, but 96F on Saturday.

    @jmonroe: You mentioned the screen name of the party I was referring to in my post about "Tales From Under the Hood"- so you received a lecture over there without knowing about it.
    Shame! :p

    Oh I knew that I was being schooled alright.

    I'm not sure what post he was not pleased with me about but I think it was about doing oil changes on my '09 Genny. I don't know why he thinks you have to be a professional mechanic to do an oil change properly but he does. But then he thinks you have to be a pro to do anything on a car. Maybe even adding air to your tires. He'd probably even try to tell me how to wax a car. I'm sure the guy is a good mechanic, and he better be since he does it for a living, but there are some things that don't have to be done by a pro.

    As I have said in here numerous times, I have found too many mistakes that were done to my cars by pros. Which is why I started to work on cars myself. I can screw it up just as well as a pro and its cheaper when I screw up. Nor do I have to convince myself that I didn't screw up when I did. Got tired of the lies about why it was done right when it wasn't.

    I got off on the wrong foot with him when I related how I spent over an hour undoing the damage that a "professional technician" had inflicted on a friend's X3 during the previous oil change(over torqued drain plug with no gasket, disintegrating non-OEM filter cartridge, and failure to reset the oil service information). I first received the hoary old scare tactic he uses whenever you mention that you worked on a friend's car: "Now you are liable if something goes wrong." Next, I was taken to the woodshed for not contacting the incompetent/lazy tech to tell him what he did wrong. I told him I changed the oil for my friend as a favor, and it wasn't my job to teach BMW Oil Changes 101 to some halfwit who obviously took no pride in his work.

    Yes indeed. They are severely underrated by many who should actually drive one instead of relying the main stream auto media to decide what they think about various car based on the reporting. That's why when Motor Trend, Car/Driver, usw., do a comparison, it's a foregone conclusion which midsize or small car will "be the best."

    My Generation 8 is a little higher seating position than Gen 9 and weighs slightly more than a Gen 9, but it is so nice traveling any distance in it. It's as comfortable as the loaded leSabre seats and soundproofing I used to have. Car gives good performance from an engine for normal people. Gave 36 mph going to Columbus last week to setup a rehearsal dinner for son's upcoming wedding.

    My next shopping likely will include high end Optimas and I'll even venture into a distant, safe Camry store to look at Avalon and Camry. I might even drive a Civic and Accord but since they are so related, I don't know I could see an Accord as a good choice.

    It was not a high speed area. This was in Moraine next to the Fuyao Glass plant nee Moraine Assembly for S10 then Suv's. He made a right turn onto an eastbound street as I waited from the opposite direction to turn left. I got the full flash of the blue on the wheels. Pretty, I thought. Then 1000 ft later in a 40 mph zone, he was at the light and I was behind. I saw his sunglasses' blue in his review mirror after I saw the blue TT emblem. Then 800 ft later I was beside him at the stoplight. I should have looked at the wheels, but I saw part of the cockpit with blue metallic trim on some.

    Fellow was probably in his 30s. Careful driver.

    I suspect aftermarket trim pieces are available in this blue are readily available to match the outside blue color.

    Is there any non "main stream" auto media? Which sources count?

    Just look at an Impala if you want something bigger, it is the logical next step, and the current model has received positive reviews even from sources who conspire to bring down the big 2.5 B)

    Since June 1st of this year, the entire "Sun Pass" system has been down due to what they call "technical issues". Sun Pass is the electronic pre-paid tolls system that reads a transponder as you go through a toll gate. They have a mobile APP as well as an online access site which you are supposed to be able to see your account balance, add funds to your account via a credit card, access a spreadsheet that lists the tolls charged to your account, the toll gate that recorded the toll charge and the date. But, Sun Pass pulled an "Obama Care Online Glitch" that has handcuffed the entire Florida Toll Road System.

    I have no idea what my actual account balance is, what tolls have been charged to my account via my transponder, and a whole host of other data and information I used to be able to access.

    So I called the Sun Pass Operations Center and after a 20 minute wait on the phone, a woman answered. She told me that she had no idea what my actual balance is because the entire system has been down for 4 weeks due to technical issues. I asked her how long before this new system will be operational and the response was, "...we have no idea at tis point in time..."! She said that no tolls have been charged against any transponder account for the past 4 weeks. Can you imagine the hundreds of millions of dollars the State Toll Road Authority is losing every month? It's not just the Florida Tunrpike System - it also includes other toll roads thorughout the State of Florida.

    Remember, the same thing happened to the Obama Care Portal - it was not Beta tested and, it is quite obvious this new system was not properly Beta Tested. But without tolls being processed and paid, the Toll Road Authority sill have some severe finanacial problems since Tolls pay for maintenance, not the State of Florida. I wonder how many heads are going to roll as a result of this calamity. Good Grief! :o

    I just saw an instance where wrong info was given over there.

    The key has a transponder, not a chip. I just checked. When I first read that,
    I thought Park Avenue had gone to transponder keys while leSabre had chip keys until 1999.

    We had a 2016 Malibu rental for nine days while on a trip through Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. It was a very comfortable car. It has a four-cylinder turbo engine, which was adequate, but fuel economy was just okay. I think we averaged 32 over the 2,500 miles or so we drove it. Comfort-wise, I would say it was very similar to my Passat (similar to, but not quite as good); I still miss that car!

    The '68 Imperial is rather distinctive from the front so I knew it wasn't one of those.

    Back in the early 70's, I had just gotten out of college and started my first job working in IT for an oil company here in Houston. A friend of my younger brother moved here and started working in the service department for a new car dealership. The kid had only a high school diploma, no real job experience, and they put him doing oil changes. I remember being rather irked that he was making more money than I was.

    Didn't last long though. He screwed up, several times, and they fired him.

    One of the reasons I did my own oil changes, for years (decades). These days, owning mostly new cars under warranty, I often get free oil changes from the dealer, so I take advantage of that. But I'm like you with checking the lug nuts, I always check that the oil is at the right level, and nothing is pouring out the bottom. Which doesn't mean they used the right oil (very important these days), but I check what I can.

    This boat attracted my attention for some reason. Seems a reasonable price compared to the stuff I see on the classic TV auctions. What's something like this worth assuming it runs and isn't half bondo? Looks about the size of the Dodge Polara I learned to drive on.

    My nephew bought a 2017 Civic and then got a job in New York City where a car wasn't practical. I was in the process of helping the family sell it when his kid sister appropriated it for herself. If we had gone to sale it would have been a legit "moving, can't take it with me".

    @oldfarmer50,
    The shade of the paint on the right front fender doesn't match the rest of the same side.

    I like something like this way more. A 1968 Chrysler New Yorker, large windows, square, balanced look;

    I think you may be right. Some cars look better as 4 doors.

    WOW, that is some Malibu you have.

    First you see the TT from the side. Then you're behind it at a light, then at the next light you're side by side, then it's in your rear view mirror.

    You either have your Malibu on steroids or you never mentioned you got the Premium Performance Package on that beast. In any case it's a real sleeper. B) jmonroe

    Hate to sound like a Nissan salesman but if you are interested in that segment don't overlook the Altima. Drove one through the the Adirondacks today and clocked 44 mpg at 71 mph.

    That TT is really sharp. They've improved the looks since I last looked.

    So my lawyer scheduled the trial for November, at the County Seat. That's a fair bit of advanced scheduling. Hopefully my opposition transfers to a more lucrative law enforcement agency far far away by that time.

    The TT turned on my midlife crisis car thoughts. Instead of a small Miata or so, this car would be comfortable and fun to own. It was a tastefully done unique convertible...

    Man....do I like that Audi TT....especially in that color. OF, as you say, I haven’t looked at them in a while. Audi has done a nice job with their evolution.

    Almost like it's all a make-work project colluded between hilariously well-compensated ranking public sector "authorities" and lawyers.

    Good luck with your job search.

    And yes, your new Enigma machine is better than your old one. Only took me two reads of your post above to get it. Keep up the good work. ;)

    Hey @explorerx4 , I received the book, thank you! Looks good so far. Will be an interesting read on how good intentions end up producing an unpopular car.

    Great job marco in your improved writing software.  After reading marco’s post with the improved translation/dictation program, I was able to figure out what he was trying to communicate.  I would suggest to you marco that you put periods in after you complete a thought.  It would help immensely.  That was the first thing I learned when I started dictating to my secretary when I was a school principal.  Inserting punctuation like commas, periods, new paragraph, etc., made it easier.  It brought back fond memories of my teaching career - teaching kids how to write using complete thoughts and the importance of punctuation.

    When I started teaching I was assigned to a second grade classroom.  It was a scary experience.  The first day I walked into the room and the kids started to file in from the playground, four of them started crying almost immediately once they saw who their teacher was.  Remember, I was 6’2” tall and weighed 217 lbs.  I was at a loss as to what I could do to stop their crying.

    Out of the blue, I started singing the Beatles song, “...If I Fell In Love With You, I would Promise to be true...”!  The crying stopped immediately.  That was my first success in my teaching career - I knew how to stop 7-year olds from crying.  Teaching them how to read, write and compute was not as easy!   :D

    @ab348,
    Enjoy the book. Glad you got it. There was no tracking available, so I was kind of worried about it getting to you.
    It's kind of funny, I thought this month was going to end up on a down note, but a lot of things turned out good. :)
