    Wow!

I think the description alone outs the seller as a gold-digger. "like new." Sorry, fella, but you shouldn't have included an interior pic if you wanted to pass that rat off as "like new!"

I originally jumped on Prime when it was quite a bit cheaper ($80?), and mainly for the free shipping. I had it for a year or more before I ever tried the streaming service. I think Netflix has more titles, and they have some very good original material (movies and series). But Prime is a very good supplement. For the price, I will keep both. YMMV
Love prime and prime pantry.  Not a week goes by that there isn’t an Amazon delivery to our home.  Heck I use it to order stuff for work too.

Makes for interesting conversation with the wife.... the other day she asked what printer we have that uses a $259 ink tank.  Lol.

Ha ha.  It used to be more but my son has been fully potty trained and my daughter close, so diapers and wipes has been drastically reduced.

On another note... anyone feeling the holiday pressure?  We’ve been non-stop!

Holiday parties, Polar Express train ride for the kids, end of year BS at work.  We still have tons of gifts to wrap, Christmas Eve open house for 30 people and Christmas Day dinner.

Two more days until a nice long vacation from the office at least.  Hopefully I’m not bothered too much. My entire field team is on vacation too so it should be quiet.

I don’t celebrate Christmas, but my company is closed next week so we are headed to Philly 12/25 until New Years. Unfortunately this week has been insane at work and it’s looking like I’ll be working through much of next week, too.

we (well, by we, I mean my wife) is way behind this year. She started a new job in September, and works in the office instead of home. And I sucked out some time car shopping. Then we had a couple lost weekends (a run to NY for a 90th B'day and moving the daughter last weekend). So we might be short on cookies this year!

I at least won't have anything to do but wrap tomorrow afternoon, since after Carvana shows up at noon, I will be carless and housebound until midday Thursday.

Is Thursday pickup day for the TLX?

@Michaell , I hope Lily bounces back. I am going through a very bad time with my cat Rusty right now, looks like possible liver failure. He may not be with me much longer unless he does a quick turnaround in the next day or two. When they go bad, they go really quickly. I'm gutted.

Our cat is 15 and healthy, but you never know; my thoughts are with you and Rusty.

I suspect my wife normally makes that much, but this year, she will have to cut down. We also travel and this year, will be leaving Saturday morning cutting more time out. I think she is just bringing ingredients and doing a bunch of baking up at my BILs house on Sunday.

I hope Thursday but still have not heard back from the salesdude about when it is arriving. No clue why taking so long. Heck, the dealer closest to me (and 1/2 hour from them) shows 5 identical ones in stock. Should not be taking this long. I plan to call and harass him tomorrow on his cell # and if he doesn't answer will just call the main number and ask for the SM.

my elantra is going to the vending machine. the new car is coming from an actual dealer.

they need to be careful. I do have a short attention span, and will be going to the Genesis dealer on Thursday with my son anyway. If something popped up that I could not resist, I might not, and they would be refunding my CC deposit instead.

I need to stay away from the dealers, though that should be pretty easy, when I am stuck at home without a car. That leaves Honcker, and the Ford dealer I can walk to!

Nope not me, not hosting anything and the kids are all grown up and living out of state. The wife does all the shopping and gift wrapping so the only thing I have to get are her presents. Now since my wife likes to go online and check credit card and bank statements once or twice a week I tend to buy her presents at the last minute so she doesn't see the purchases on the statements. But I do know what I am getting her and where to buy it, some are even on layaway. So going out and getting them should take a very short time.

I made a decision to subscribe to Amazon Prime for only one reason - Prime Video!  It’s $119 a year which includes Prime TV/movies and videos, Prime music, and the free shipping for Amazon.  So far, I find Prime better than Netflix.

Mike...I’ve had Amazon Prime for years. Love the music feature in addition to the shipping advantages (free 2 day, which usually gets to me in 1 day). The programming is high quality, too.

With my new OTA antenna, where local channels I get for free, Amazon Prime, Hulu, I’ve totally cut off and cancelled my DirecTV sat account and am saving over $1,000/year for TV. That’s not pocket change.

Just got a phone survey from DriecTV (Actually it was AT&T who owns them). Usually, I don’t answer those surveys as they want me to give them free marketing information that they usually have to pay for. Anyway, I thought they should know. About ½ the questions asked shy I left DirecTV, just in different language. Every time I told them it was because I was saving over $1,000/year. They also asked about programming and other reasons I quit. When they asked me for any final comments, I told them I couldn’t make it any clearer........THEY OVER CHARGE, BY A LOT!

    I bet you’ll enjoy Prime!

That’s a dealership issue. That dealer is short sighted and risking losing a customer by charging for the oil change to diagnose an issue. If I were him, I would go to another dealership.

They have dipsticks. I guess the dealership is afraid everyone will come in and claim they need to have their engines checked as a way to get a free oil change.

I get it. Some people would do just that. But, I believe those are the extremes.

I had a TL with the 3.7L engine. It’s quite robust. But, if you don’t use the recommended premium gas, deposits form around the rings, causing oil usage.

The easier fix is to just add some cleaner into the injection system and/or with an oil change. That fixed 99% of the problem.

That Acura was willing to replace part of the entire engine is well over and above what would be required.

I’ve told this story before, but I also had sterling service from my local BMW dealer. It was when I first bought my E90 coupe. It had the optional iPhone charging cradle (which was also supposed to boost antenna power somehow to get clearer calls).

Well, within 4 days of me driving the car off the dealer’s lot, and me using my iPhone (4s), I pulled out my iPhone from the cradle and it was too hot to touch. After it cooled off, I pulled it out of the cradle and it got so hot the SIM card had melted in it’s holder. The “guts” of the iPhone had fused in a few places, too.

Took it to the dealer. While the phone wasn’t as expensive as iPhones are now, it was still a $500 phone. The dealership wrote me a check on the spot for the phone, gave me $250 for the iPhone cradle option, and offered me a free in and out detail for my trouble.

    That’s good customer service.

I know the service manager at my Acura dealer, as I’ve bought more than just one car there. He’s gone out of his way to take care of ANY concerns I had with ANY of my Acuras. Outside of routine maintenance, he doesn’t charge when he goes over and above to take care of my car.

The story looks like it emanates from an Acura dealership in Canada. It’s too bad they take the “short view” of customer service.

It could be just an unreasonable customer. Check the oil regularly yourself until it's time for your next service which could only be a few months at most, then start the process.

Where the story says this guy is located, he is a long way from a dealer. There is only one Acura dealer in all of Nova Scotia and that is in Halifax, almost 200 miles away from him. I don't know if Honda dealers can service Acuras?

after so many years, while it might not be romantic, half the time we buy something for ourselves and hand it to the other one to wrap and give back. All clothes for the wife are done that way. Because I never guess right!

We aren't exchanging this year for Christmas, but my wife's birthday is also Christmas day. Since she is taking classes and her laptop is aging I just sprung for a really nice 2 in 1 for her. Not romantic at all, but I know she has been wanting one and would never just go out and buy it.

How about the owner filling the oil up and then looking at the dipstick 1000 miles later? Has Acura done away with dipsticks?
The posts below the article were interesting:

Should have bought a Hyundai sonata, 250,000 km and doesn't burn a stain of oil.

Not as dumb as this one:

We decided that we won't get another dog until we are home a lot more, and won't be able to travel very much. But, I would make an exception for that dog.....he is a lot of fun.

Funny you should bring that up. I just this morning got an email from DirecTV / AT&T about price increases next month.

Thank you for enjoying DIRECTV. We appreciate your business and are proud to offer the ultimate entertainment experience.
We realize getting maximum value is a top priority for you, which is why we work hard to provide choices you want at rates that make sense. Due to increased costs of programming, an adjustment in the price of our programming packages is necessary.
New rates will be in effect on January 20, 2019, as indicated at att.com/2019pricing.

If the gov really cared, it would use restraint of trade and make these firms offer realistically priced ala carte pricing. That would also do away over time with many of these low budget cable channels offering repetitive crap all day. We espouse capitalism, but continue to chip away at consumer driven choice in this marketplace.

It galls me to think that a tiny part of what I pay DirecTV every month goes to LMN (Lifetime Movie Network). I really really don't want any of my money going to LMN.

Speaking of fun business models, my SiriusXM subscription was set to expire tomorrow, so I called yesterday and said I want to cancel. They threw the Select $5/month promo at me immediately. I am a sucker, so I took it.

Cable is as big of a screwed up consumer ripoff as healthcare and pharmaceuticals. Here is how it seems to work and why I think it is pure restraint of trade; The big content producers like ABC Disney apparently force the cable companies to take crap channels if they want the desirable ones like ESPN for example, and buyers who don't want sports are still forced to pay the high monthly premiums for channels like ESPN as well. But the cable and satellite companies are not really victims here either as they proclaim. They use this as their excuse to up rates every year. Much of their infrastructure has been done years ago reducing fixed costs, albeit incurring maintenance and repair of it as it ages. But they take the whole programming costs and increase your rate by that amount or more, increasing your bill. That extra programming can get profit applied, while the reduced infrastructure may well be ignored in their pricing. At the end of the day, the consumer gets stiffed with all sorts of added stuff they really wouldn't purchase in an open ala carte market. Industry response is that bundling saves the consumer money, but it doesn't all that much really, because reducing the purchase of crap channels, and even after spreading fixed costs over the reduced channels, is more than likely going to be cheaper to the consumer than having to pick up all the direct costs of the unwanted channels. And if you use Roku or some such and stream instead, the FCC wants to let these providers charge higher internet fees to those users as well. Consumers choice - you pay more either way each year!
