    @ad348,
Happy belated Birthday from me, too. You have to stick around to bring down the annual cost(drvier100 method) of that shower cartridge you just bought.

Regardless of my above post, today must have been National Remind Laurasdada of all the Poor Career and Financial Decisions Made Most of his Life Day; running errands in and about my 'hood earlier, I shared the road with an Aston Martin DB11, two Ferrari California and a 458 Italia. While not as $$$-y, a just as stunning Jag F-Type convertible.

Yeah, life is good. And, I have no deck at all.

Don’t feel envy for those other drivers, those cars are probably leased and they have no furniture in their homes.
That's the couple that lives at the end of my block. They have a Lexus, a MB, and a Lotus in the driveway and no furniture in their livingroom and dining room.

Happy birthday and good health, AB.
OF, love the color of your Stang, as well as that whole picture.
Snake, how often does the Lotus actually move out of their driveway. British cars, you know... ; - )

And, while I am somewhat wistful about my career choices, I'm quite satisfied with my life. My "jealousy" is mostly in jest. And, I have been well-decked in prior houses!

Although, I'd have no issues trading at least one of my comfy chairs for any of the just slightly out of reach cars I mentioned earlier!

Oh, yeah. Saw the Steve Miller Band Thursday night. After a few somewhat disappointing recent "Geezers of Rock," concerts, Steve didn't disappoint. He's still got the guitar skills, and his voice grew stronger as the concert progressed. Great keyboard player in his travelling lineup. Played all the hits and some nice blues.

So, really a beautiful summer evening with a lovely woman on the water in Boston. I'm a lucky man.

Ha! The cartridge was replaced free by Moen, so zero cost there.

Odd thing I noticed after I replaced it. I think the plumber who originally installed it 2 years ago didn't do a very good job. I always was bothered by how far the handle seemed to be from the wall plate. There is a collar that is supplied with it that covers the shaft and end of the cartridge and it was showing for over an inch. When I replaced everything that collar went in an additional half inch so the handle is that much closer to the plate. But more interestingly, while the handle wasn't difficult to turn before, with the new cartridge it is much freer to turn. They provide a little packet of lube with it which I used on the rubber parts as instructed. Makes me wonder if he lubed any internals originally and if that might have had something to do with the failure.

Do you think we will ever see quirky or low profit autos like the Honda Element or a really small GM/Ford pickup or Toyota Tercel 4WD wagon again from mainstream companies? It seems that auto makers aren’t going to mfg anything that won’t sell in large numbers. Not to mention only limited exterior/interior colors. What’s out there now is not enough to get me in the showroom to spend my hard-earned cash.

I think you’re spot on. It’s been years since industry leaders Honda and Toyota abandoned cars like the MR2 or S2000. Now most brands are eliminating whole segments in favor of the most profitable lines.
Kia and Hyundai are your best bets.

We are lucky that the vast majority of posters here actually contribute a lot to this board. I look occasionally at The Truth About Cars and half of those clowns do nothing but post the same tired rant about GM or Tesla or whatever. Very tiresome to read. (Thumbs up emotorcon here).

Thanks, bean, appreciate the well-wishes from you and all others here who offered them.

Today is a good example of the good day/bad day business I mentioned. Yesterday was a good day, and today is not. I did not sleep long enough since I was awakened early by soreness in my back and knee (probably from what I did yesterday), so I am on short sleep. When I wanted to do a few things around here today I felt the heart symptoms right away and stopped. This needs to get fixed. soon.

It's sort of like the board's software actually, some days it works, some days not. In the absence of emotorcons maybe we can come up with our own shorthand? "TUE" short for your "thumbs up" one, etc. ;)

I don't think it is the dealers and mechanics....it is the anti-car lobby. Here they are making streets that had 2 lanes each way into roads with parking on the sides, so these main thoroughfares will have one lane. Speed bumps, traffic calming islands, light rail transit using the best lanes, bike lanes, un-sychronized traffic lights on a major by-pass, all to try and make driving as unpleasant as possible.

On this street, bike lane on the far left - bikes can go both ways, then believe it or not a parking lane - hope the passenger looks before opening their door, and then the driving lane. Do you know how many people pull up behind the last parked car and think that lane is moving.....a lot!

Same silly things being done here. It is the urban planners current flavor of the month. The difference there is that the photographer captured a couple of cyclists actually using the lane. Here they are almost always empty. We have one set up like that and the cycling activists call the traffic patrol whenever some poor sap in a vehicle gets a wheel onto the painted markings dividing the park lane from the bike lane. Here that is an instant ticket and they have given out a lot of them even though it makes not one iota of difference to the cyclist. I have found locally that the cycling activists are among the nastiest and most entitled bunch to be found here. They simply hate all vehicles (or more accurately I suppose, drivers).

Just had an encounter with a cyclist this morn that irked me. He was riding in the car lane rather than on the shoulder, as they often feel the need to do. I went around him and came to a stop sign maybe 30 yds later. I was behind someone turning left, so I was sitting still. Now, I’m thinking to myself that this bicyclist SHOULD line up behind me since he feels he belongs in the car lane. Nope, of course not. He rides on the shoulder around me just as I move forward to the stop sign. He fails to come to a full stop and continues straight, where I am also going. I know his next move is to move back into my lane in front of me, so I make sure to step on it and get next to him before crossing the intersection so I can stay in my lane to get past the cars waiting at the stop on the other side of the intersection. Kept thinking to myself I’d love to ask this jerk if he really wants to share the road or not. You can’t have it both ways and use the shoulder only when it suits you and inconvenience everyone else the rest of the time.

Disaster averted, or at least a major inconvenience.
Opened a tube of driveway sealer in the garage.
When I went to apply it outside at first it was very liquid, but firmed up after a squeeze or two.
Later, I was going out to the garage and decided to check the side door to make sure I locked it.
Walking back after checking the door, I noticed some gray spots on the hood of the Mustang.
Some of the sealer had dripped out and I hadn't noticed some landed on the hood.
It was dry, but was able take the spots off using bug and tar remover. Whew!

IIRC the law made major repairs illegal to do in your driveway. If you want to change out brake pads, change the oil, do a tune up and such its OK. If you want to tear down and rebuild an engine you cant. I believe it's more to keep people from having a disassembled car in their driveway for days on end and to keep backyard mechanics from running a business in their residential homes.

My son and I ran up on some bicyclists on a two lane road- one riding about two feet from the fog line, the other two feet from the center line. And God forbid they make it easier for a car to pass.
