@imidazol97 ....I hear you. I thought about that. I guess if I end up in small claims court, I could probably make that case. Had an encounter on my bike the other day, at an H-intersection (with a set of RR tracks in the middle, and the crossbar of the H continuing on both sides). I was on the "old" side of the H, coming up to make a right turn onto the crossing road. I was happy to see the light turn green as I approached, but had to brake and evade as a driver in a 2000ish Accord coupe took an illegal right on red from the "new" side of the intersection, thus blowing his red on the old side. Sometimes those "NO TURN ON RED" signs are there for a good reason! I'm sure the idiot probably thought I was doing something wrong anyway... I'm lucky I wasn't going straight!

A friend has a 2015 Audi R/S 8. He noticed that his front camera looked foggy. Took it in to the dealer to see what was wrong. They said a stone must have hit the lens and broke the glass. $800 for a new lens plus 4 hours of labor to install it and to re-calibrate the settings.....about $1200 total. He decided to leave it.

I love the stories of nitwits who don’t do their homework, take their car to an unscrupulous dealer, hand over their credit card, drop their pants and grab their ankles.
It further depresses used car values and lets me buy nicer cars at an even better price.
In the case of my “old” 2014 F22 I’ve spent a grand total of $0.00 on repairs. All I’ve done is change the oil every year and change the brake fluid and coolant every two years.

Well there is a dedicated bike lane connected to a brand new bridge crossing the same road a 100 yards t their right.
If they had bunched up a bit, a vehicle could get by, but they spread themselves out so you had to wait behind them.
Not the end of the world, but inconsiderate of others.

He took the car to the dealer where he bought it. I suggested he take the car to a good indie garage just to see what they would say. It will be interesting if the indie comes up with a much lower price.

Well, that depends on whether you have straight away speed or speed in the turns. When Mrs. j started gaining on me on the straight aways I took the leafs out of the table because I figured I could get away from her in the turns and I was right. We are off to Ellicottville N.Y. tomorrow for our tennis weekend. It is about a 2 hour drive, and Ellicottville is about 1 hour south of Buffalo.

If oncoming traffic makes it impossible to pass a cyclist with 3 feet of clearance, the obvious solution is to WAIT UNTIL IT IS SAFE TO PASS. Usually it's a matter of a few seconds, rarely does it end up being even a minute. Is a few seconds of your time actually more valuable than another person's life?!

Cyclists are expected to ride as far right as practicable, and in a typical 10-12 ft lane that is near the right-side wheel track. If a single cyclist had stopped there, at the white line, what would you have done to make your right turn on red?

As for the bridge, not knowing where said bridge carried the off-road path, we have no idea whether that bike lane went where these cyclists were going.

I would seriously consider a RWD Acura sedan. I think I’d like it a lot more than the other Asian RWD sedans.

Did he actually look at the lens? it may be just scuffed and could possibly be fixed with a fine polishing compound.

Thanks for asking, driver. No, they had a problem and ended up finding a vein in my left leg after sticking me four times in my arms and hands. I didn’t have to drink barium, the nuclear injection was all they needed.

I got there at 6:55 AM and left st 11:00 AM. Long morning. I won’t get the results until next week. Nerve racking to be be sure.

Excellent points. My problem is I go along a very busy 2 lane windy road with lots of hills and curves in the morning. I am just going to tennis so not in a rush, other people are trying to get to work. Someone can come around a curve at 50 or go over a hill....sometimes both, and there is the cyclist and the car has no choice but to try and squeeze around the cyclist. There must be roads with less traffic around.

All true. I thought about insurance too and I will ask him, but, just a guess, he has had a few claims and would probably rather not fix it through his insurance.
Buffing it out might be worth a try....I think the first thing to check is to see what the indie guy says. Hard to believe you can buy a whole camera for $100 but they want $1200 to replace a lens.

I go in for bloodwork and they fill up a few viles....I don't know how many because I can't watch. Can't imagine sticking me over and over to find a vein.
It is nerve wracking waiting for results....there should be a way to get results immediately these days.

If I was buying a new car, interest rate on my loan would be the second most important attraction to a specific car - the first being the car itself. Manufacturers rates on car loans are ranging from 0% to 2.99 % for up to 72 months.

Then maybe some hills and curves aren't safe to be taking at 50 mph, if that's too fast to react to a slower vehicle on the road ahead of you. We have no shortage of winding and hilly roads here in Kentucky, and you barely need to leave the Louisville Metro to find them. (I'm about a half mile from the Oldham County line.) I think too many motorists see a speed limit sign as the minimum speed that you must travel, unless the National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning for the area.

I don't know the road you're talking about, but I bet you're right that there are roads with less traffic. I strategically plan my rides so that I use lesser traveled roads, at non-peak traffic times. It's hard to avoid the main drags completely, so I might be on a busier road for a quarter mile here or there to get from one relatively bike-friendly road to another. I've also taken to riding on the Indiana side, because the sight lines are usually better and speed limits are typically 10-15 mph slower than similar roads on the Kentucky side.

Cyclists don't lose their right to live just because they're out there on two wheels. Motorists never had the right not to be inconvenienced.

Speaking of maintenance the Acura reminded me it's time for it's oil change/tire rotation and this time the rear differential fluid is to be changed. Called the indie shop that services the Prelude and with coupon the dealer is actually cheaper for the rear diff fluid change.

Just got a call from my doctor - PET-Scan shows no evidence of cancer or any other anomalies. Whewwwww! Made it through another year cancer-free. So it’s been 3-years now that I am a cancer survivor. Yeah! ✋👋🙏🤙😀

Just picked up my mail and a couple of interesting things were there. First, the registration renewal for the Cadillac comes due end of September, marking 2 years of ownership. It costs $221.00 in worthless Canadian dollars for 2 years, so $110/yr. How does that compare to where others live?

The second thing was a glossy catalog from Viking River Cruises. How they got my name I dunno but I guess I'm in their demographic. If I was ever going to take a cruise it would probably be one like that rather than an ocean cruise. But man, they aren't cheap. 5 figures for a lot of them.

well, his reasoning makes sense to me. a clean sheet, radical redesign in a configuration they don't have experience with, might have some teething pains. And of course, good chance they depreciate hard (though this one, if it doesn't turn out to be a nightmare, might avoid that).

$75/yr for the Outback, plus another $145 in ownership tax.

$43/year/vehicle so total $129/year in car registrations. The state gives you a 1 or 2 year renewal option but there's no savings if you do 2 years so I stick with one for all of them.
