been snowing heavily here for a couple hours. grass pretty much fully covered. Weaher app screwed up, and I got unlucky. the snow/rain line is literally about 2 miles from me. Really hoping the line and temps move soon as predicted and it cuts over to rain and stays that way. I am in no mood to shove real amounts of snow.

That’s the price you pay for even thinking about putting ketchup on a hot dog. The Superior hot dog shop in your hood won’t do it. They provide packs so you can do it but they won’t disgrace a dog by doing it for you.☹️

EDIT: I think I screwed up the name. I’m now pretty sure it’s the Superdawg place.

Nah, most of us hate the cold and pine to go someplace warm in the winters.
They estimate 30% of the Canadians who head south for the winter will still go. Half a million go to Florida other years. You can't cross the border on foot, by car or by boat, so the ones who go are flying. Travel insurance covers us for covid....but, the logistics of trying to get care or getting back if we got it would be difficult, so we are staying here even though temps around 32F are ridiculous.

I always wanted to go back to the Niagara Falls to see it when there was lots of ice. That one will never
    happen most likely.

I like watching the big chunks of ice flow along the river, before reaching the edge. Now that is fun!

I saw the weinermobile driving on I70 several years ago. It did not seem stable. It was like a car with the alignment off. It would move to one side of the lane then back to the center. It was windy that day, so maybe the wind was affecting it and its stability.

I think it averages around 50" annually here, so not lake-effect land, but I can't imagine volunteering to move there anyway :)

So far this year we had a nice ~6" dump one day in October, then just an inch or two every week or two, hopefully there's a good snow event on the horizon.

The table on the deck now has about 12 inches of snow (up from around 8 inches yesterday). So I presume that is what is in the driveway. I have a routine foot doctor appointment at 9 this morning. I’m going to see if the Subie can plow through it. It should work because my driveway is as flat as our dining room table. That's bad news  . I was hoping it will look a little better live and will it grow on me by the time 4 Gran Coupe rolls out. Otherwise, all is left for me is A5/S5 Sportsback, Stinger and perhaps V60. I like them on paper, but somehow my current 430 GC seems like more compelling choice. There are A7 or V90, but I don't want them be so big, even if I can afford them and am willing to shell out that kind of money. Still holding on hope I won't have to take these small SUV that are everywhere. Some look OK, but every time I sit inside of one, I find more reasons to stick with conventional wagon/hatchback, which of course almost disappeared.

How much has the plow put in front of your driveway? You can probably blast through that.

Mrs. venture is nuts about clearing snow (and raking leaves). We have to go out every hour or two to clear the driveway and sidewalks. I insist, to no avail, that I can just use the snow blower after it stops.

For some odd reason she agreed to let my daughters "guy" come this morning to plow the driveway; even after we removed more than half of it last night. We are still waiting. :(

We may be getting to one of those stages where it is better to hold on to the car you have if you really like it as nothing newer is better and may well be a step backwards. That happened before around 1972 when the '73-up cars all became strangled with emissions controls and cowcatcher bumpers for well over a decade. I am seeing the same thing right now with Cadillac and my ATS. The new models all look worse and have poorer performance than the one I have unless you shell out really big bucks.

My company texted me at 5am that we were closed because it was too dangerous. I didn’t argue. My “guy” came too early so another 6 inches of snow came down. Once I uncovered the Kia and shoveled out by the road twice (thanks town plow) it made it out without too much drama.

Can’t help you with your identity crisis. 6’2” is pretty impressive for a native Korean and from the license plates it appears to be a Korean production. Asian cars have often been criticized as being too small for tall (or fat) Americans. Maybe if the Korean population is trending larger they’ll adapt.

not down here. It was very wet and heavy.

Yeah it’s really heavy. Cleared the back steps for the dog. Association did the sidewalks, so all I have to do is the driveway. I’m not in any rush.
That is rare for this area but I’ll take it.

I had no trouble backing out of my driveway when I went to the foot doctor this morning. That little bit of buildup the plowed left at the street was no match for the Subie. Almost as if it wasn’t there.

As for “waiting” for the plow Guy, this is why I don’t call guys. By the time they get there I could have done it myself and that includes water heaters and stuff like that. FWIW, I can’t remember the last time I had to call myself back to do the job again.

The plow guy didn't come. He had some kind of excuse about a belt breaking, blah blah blah and he would come this evening. At least he called. Mrs. venture told him we would do it ourselves.

It took about an hour, at the most, and included the sidewalks that he couldn't do anyway.

my son sent a picture of his driveway that he shoveled by himself. took 2.5 hours and it is pretty short and only 1 lane. The walls look higher than his car most likely.

they got 23". My BIL in Saratoga got 35". I would be researching rentals in SC instead of shoveling.
