Re: dieseling issue. As usual, thanks guys for your input. Your stipend is in the mail, or would you prefer that sent by Zelle. In any event, here are the answers to some of the questions and issues raised:

• The engine is the 3.6 V6
  
• I have driven the car less than 500 miles in the last year---due to Covid-19 and being stuck overseas
  
• This is the first time that the dieseling issue has happened and the car was driven 12 miles each way in stop and go traffic
  
• The temperature gage reading was normal
  
• Last oil change at dealership, was April/May 2020
  
• Google says it might be low grade or stale gas. My last tankful was Shell RUG, I usually use PUG
  

As far as I can remember the coolant has never been changed in the 10 years of ownership

With that said, I think its time to call the dealer and empty my pockets with the money I was saving for a new Tellu ride

I’d throw some water remover in the tank(heet?) and top off with fresh premium than go take a highway ride to get it circulated. And a coolant change at this point sounds smart. If your issue was fluid related that should help it.

I’m still confused if your engine is running on, or just the fan.

Have been jonesing for a Bluetooth stereo set up in the bedroom. Nothing fancy. Just something to play from my phone while putting away clothes, taking a shower in the master bath, changing bed linens etc.

While looking at DWs and Best Buy, I started looking at those little Bose, Marshall, JBL, Logitech, etc Bluetooth speakers. To get something that sounded even moderately acceptable, it was going to cost $300-$400. And, I wasn’t really fond of the sound they produced.

Found I could put together something on my own.

I told Mrs D that I was going to remove the stove in our Florida home since we don't use it anyway and use it as a desk area for the computer.
But seriously, so many kitchens aren't planned properly....with flow. When we looked at homes some had you taking things out of the fridge, going past a sink and a dishwasher to get to the stove. Many things go from the fridge to the stove, if planned properly you take fewer steps.

But seriously the only time something goes from the fridge directly into the oven is when we are warming up leftovers. And then it's usually warmed up in the microwave. I cant remember the last time I didn't do some prep before cooking.

Fish or chicken go directly into a pan on the stove, vegetables go from the fridge into another pan, on the stove. Or into the microwave which is above the stove. I cook the main dish, she does the vegetables......no meal takes more than 20 minutes to prepare. No TV dinners and rarely premade manufactured foods...like TV Dinners.

I rarely take anything from the refrigerator to heat, there is usually some sort of preparation to be done, the only exception is if something needs to marinate for a time prior to being cooked. I do prep the food and rarely take chicken or fish directly to heat without some sort of prep work.

No prepping here....just add Mrs Dash, turn over after 5 or 6 minutes on each side.

No offense but to me that's the culinary equivalent to taking a Yugo out on a Sunday drive while leaving your perfectly good Benz at home in the garage.

It depends on the importance. I appreciate driving a well designed car.....meanwhile, food is important, but has to be minimal amount of work, or it isn't enjoyable any more. Besides, with busy lifestyles we try to keep cooking time to a minimum.

I like those speakers. We are reorganizing our basement rec area soon. I have all kinds of audio equipment (receivers and CD players) but my son stole the speakers I had down there. Those would likely work great.

For the price, you’d be hard pressed to find better. Actually for 3x the price, you’d be hard pressed to find better.

Actually, the GF likes it even more than I do. She “Bluetooth’s” her YOGA lessons from her phone to the system which includes some quasi “meditative” music.

But seriously the only time something goes from the fridge directly into the oven is when we are warming up leftovers. And then it's usually warmed up in the microwave. I cant remember the last time I didn't do some prep before cooking.

Fish or chicken go directly into a pan on the stove, vegetables go from the fridge into another pan, on the stove. Or into the microwave which is above the stove. I cook the main dish, she does the vegetables......no meal takes more than 20 minutes to prepare. No TV dinners and rarely premade manufactured foods...like TV Dinners.

I rarely take anything from the refrigerator to heat, there is usually some sort of preparation to be done, the only exception is if something needs to marinate for a time prior to being cooked. I do prep the food and rarely take chicken or fish directly to heat without some sort of prep work.

No prepping here....just add Mrs Dash, turn over after 5 or 6 minutes on each side.

No offense but to me that's the culinary equivalent to taking a Yugo out on a Sunday drive while leaving your perfectly good Benz at home in the garage.

It depends on the importance. I appreciate driving a well designed car.....meanwhile, food is important, but has to be minimal amount of work, or it isn't enjoyable any more. Besides, with busy lifestyles we try to keep cooking time to a minimum.

I’m not for quick, I’m for good. Good food takes at least a little effort to make. The way I look at is, if I’m going to spend my time opening my mouth, might as well shovel something good in there.

I think I told this tale before:

We’re not health freaks by any standard but we never had prepared foods in the house and for sure never a TV dinner. Mrs. j considered those cheating and let our sons know that. Fast forward to when Son #1 went off to Penn State. During a phone call one time, being a typical mother, she ask our Son how he was doing with meals. He said, “OK I guess”. Of course she wanted to know what that meant so she probed a little. He came clean and said, “sometimes I’ll throw a TV dinner in the oven. Honest Mom, they’re not bad like you had me believing”. She was appalled and said to me when she hung up, “I can’t believe he’s doing that”. I told her if she felt so bad about that she should go there and cook for him and his room mates at their apartment. And while she was there she could count how many beers they had with their meals. That’s a mom for you.

Yah but, he didn't like the old hard plastic and just because it is soft vinyl now that doesn't necessarily make it not cheap feeling. It is hard to make nice trim out of most plastics. When you are in a car you get a sense for the quality of the materials that are used.....on the other hand, maybe he was just looking for a negative....hard to say.

He didn’t actually say they were not nice or well done. Just that at the price point of the top models, expected something a little fancier.

Maybe I’m weird, but I’ve never really cared about stuff like the top of the dash or lower door panels. As long as well designed and not creaky, I’m good.

Currently, I have simple stereo setup, with Cambridge SoundWorks bookshelf speaker. My harman/kardon receiver died after many years of faithful service, as I was going through divorce at the time ($ a factor), I replaced it with an inexpensive "Insignia" unit. Sony multi-CD player. And, dozens and dozens of cassette tapes. But, no cassette player!

OK, however the extra prep adds so much more culinary enjoyment for only a small amount of extra time to prep the food. So for an extra 5 to 10 minutes I go from a more mundane meal to something with far more flavor.

We had a defendant who absconded on some minor felonies. He recently was picked up in NY and they lodged him at Rikers Island. I decided not to extradite him because the charges didn’t justify the expense of bringing him to KY.
Today an administrator from Rikers emailed us and told us that the guy is such a pain in the *ss that they are going to bring him to us on their nickel. If Rikers can’t deal with the knucklehead I can only imagine what hilarity will ensue when he’s lodged in our humble detention facility.

Our idiotic City Council here, perpetually thirsty for more revenue to fund wasteful spending, is now wanting to install red-light cameras despite considerable evidence that they reduce one type of collision while increasing rear-enders, and on balance do little or nothing for safety. They are doing everything they can to wage war on motorists here, with narrowed streets, speed bumps, you name it, even in areas where there are zero traffic issues. The only good thing is that the usually docile/sleepy voters are starting to get irritated at it all.

Just make the food and add a good sauce....teriyaki makes everything taste good.
What more can you do to "prep" the food. btw, one rule of cooking is put it in the oven and don't open the door until it is time....big mistake to keep checking.

I think I know why she did it. With all those cords congregated that closely it helps to deaden the sounds from fast moving electrons that constantly bang into each other in cords. It’s pretty annoying to sensitive ears.

Actually, since that's my office, she never goes in there except to make copies for her class at school and that printer is right by the door. She used to complain about how dirty it was and I kept saying to stay out and she wouldn't see it.

Somehow I won that one...sort of.

I told Mrs D that I was going to remove the stove in our Florida home since we don't use it anyway and use it as a desk area for the computer.
But seriously, so many kitchens aren't planned properly....with flow. When we looked at homes some had you taking things out of the fridge, going past a sink and a dishwasher to get to the stove. Many things go from the fridge to the stove, if planned properly you take fewer steps.
In one house we weren't there to watch the workers one day, and they put the outlet for the central vac behind a door....so you had to have the door half closed when using the central vac.
Mrs D is really good at these things. She paints electrical cords to match the walls to so the black cords don't stand out against light colored walls.
@jmonroe1 you could hire her as a consultant.

But seriously the only time something goes from the fridge directly into the oven is when we are warming up leftovers. And then it's usually warmed up in the microwave. I cant remember the last time I didn't do some prep before cooking.

Fish or chicken go directly into a pan on the stove, vegetables go from the fridge into another pan, on the stove. Or into the microwave which is above the stove. I cook the main dish, she does the vegetables......no meal takes more than 20 minutes to prepare. No TV dinners and rarely premade manufactured foods...like TV Dinners.

I rarely take anything from the refrigerator to heat, there is usually some sort of preparation to be done, the only exception is if something needs to marinate for a time prior to being cooked. I do prep the food and rarely take chicken or fish directly to heat without some sort of prep work.

No prepping here....just add Mrs Dash, turn over after 5 or 6 minutes on each side.

No offense but to me that's the culinary equivalent to taking a Yugo out on a Sunday drive while leaving your perfectly good Benz at home in the garage.

It depends on the importance. I appreciate driving a well designed car.....meanwhile, food is important, but has to be minimal amount of work, or it isn't enjoyable any more. Besides, with busy lifestyles we try to keep cooking time to a minimum.

OK, however the extra prep adds so much more culinary enjoyment for only a small amount of extra time to prep the food. So for an extra 5 to 10 minutes I go from a more mundane meal to something with far more flavor.

Just make the food and add a good sauce....teriyaki makes everything taste good.
What more can you do to "prep" the food. btw, one rule of cooking is put it in the oven and don't open the door until it is time....big mistake to keep checking.

What to do to prep food? OK the other day I was making chicken breasts. Once they were patted dry I seasoned with just a little salt and pepper then coated one side with sour cream. I mixed bread crumbs with some southwestern style seasoning and oil then covered the chicken with the mixture. Bake and serve. It only took a few minutes to prep the food (it took longer to preheat the oven) and it was so much better than just seasoning the chicken and frying it.

As someone who enjoys cooking, they make little sense to me. It’s like a paint by numbers kit. They are also quite expensive for what you get, plus you supply the labor, and in the end you might not like the end product. Plus there is a pile of packaging to get rid of when you’re done. It strikes me as a creation for 20-somethings to make themselves believe than can actually cook instead of being somewhat clueless. You might be better off ordering in from a local restaurant.

Big thing in the Seattle area too. One of their fetishes was removing car lanes for bicycle lanes near busy intersections, then traffic would back up for half a mile at rush hour (pre 'rona) - all the while the bicycle traffic was slight at best, as it rains 400 days a year there.

The same intersections would still have the dumb pedestrian signal buttons/timing that wouldn't give a walk sign if you pushed the button a nanosecond after the light turned green. The powers that be couldn't care less about pedestrians either, all for bicycles, while they themselves will still commute in private cars, sacrifice for thee not for me etc.

The prepping sounds really good but it would detract from what we are trying to accomplish. We both are maintaining our lower weights so we can't enjoy extras like bread crumbs and sour cream....and though I am sure the food tastes better you get used to eating unadulterated food too. There is something to be said about letting the pure food tastes shine through...it's like coffee without cream or sugar or whiskey straight.....you can learn to appreciate it........and I like being 36 pounds less than I used to be.

I have a friend who gets 2 a week and he really likes it because it allows them to try things that are very different from what they would make.
I asked Mrs D if she wanted to give it a try.
She said sure, you are in charge, you prepare the meals and if we like it we'll continue.

As they say, 95% of work is showing up. I’m reliable, responsive, and if I say I’m going to be there, I’m there, exactly when I say I’m going to show up.

Dealerships see value in that. And, for some unknown reason, can’t seem to find anyone who they already have hanging around their stores to do it.

Have you seen the current crop of drivers on the road? Tonight I was amazed at the number driving around on automatic lights with completely blacked out tail lights like they were hoping to get hit. One was driving with just parking lights.
