@oldfarmer50, Last weekend we got some snow, but not too bad, maybe 6 inches. Hard to tell because it blew around a lot and it got cold. My driveway and side walk were dry by Sunday afternoon. A lot of rain since then. Nyccarguy probably got it worse that we did.

So yesterday I am going North, 2 lanes going in that direction....I am in the right lane, 55 mph. speed limit. Red light ahead. I start slowing down early, I'll be the 5th car in line, a guy in a white Fusion is very close behind me and seems to be impatient.....like he thinks I should pull over to the side and let him get to his late appointment or whatever. I stop....the light is still red. He pulls off to the right, into the right hand turning lane....coasts up to the red light, it turns green and he takes off in the intersection and moves in front of the car that was first at the light. I had to switch into the left lane to turn left about 1/2 mile ahead. The next light was red, and he was there waiting too....although he now had the front pole position on the track. ......and they are out there........
Explorer, if you like that you would likely enjoy Post Modern jukebox. They do this type of cover from all sorts of genres, and have some amazing singers.
Looking on Facebook and came across a Tx scanner live police pursuit (sadly I can’t find a link). State police car does a pit maneuver on a pickup truck (after a long pursuit) at 109 mph. Wow
They might have prevented some of those crashes by posting signs like, DANGEROUS CURVE AHEAD or SLOW DOWN but then again those guys probably can’t read English.

Got the last 1099’s yesterday from my bank so I called my twin brother and he did my taxes over “face-time” on my iPhone. Looks like I am expecting $1676 as a refund. As usual, he used the standard deduction to complete the 1040 form.
Now, I wait for the direct deposit which, assuming my return is accepted by the IRS, should be about 3-4 weeks from now.
Just got a text and email stating that my return was accepted by the IRS. That surprised me that they would respond 75 minutes after filing. They must have hired extra staff for tax season - and the computers must be working overtime!🤪😜🤓
I stopped in to get an estimate on having a ceramic coating applied to my car. His first price was $1200. After some discussion, he said he would check his schedule for next week and call me on Monday if he can meet my price of $800, which is what my brother paid for his SUV. The ceramic application is warranted for 2 years with yearly reapplication of the ceramic coating. It’s the preparation of the paint finish that is the critical step.
He said he would provide me with a loaner for the 24-36 hours needed to complete the cleaning and application of the ceramic and coating. I checked online and it is a labor intensive process - about 3-4 hours if done properly. I’ll know more shortly.

3 to 4 hours, and $800. Hmmm.... By my calculator, that works out to something like $200 or more per hour. We're not talking brain surgery here, or even rocket science.
About ceramis coatings....this guy applies them and he sounds pretty honest. He says don't do it unless you are keeping the car for more than 3 years. Don't do it if you go through a car wash...only hand wash. If not applied correctly it could really mess up your paint job. Do they apply it to wheels and other parts...not just the body. It doesn't prevent scratches or dents. Personally, I could find much better uses for $800 to $1200, and he says it could cost up to $2500. It's good if you really want your car to shine, but you could wax it every 6 months for a lot less. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1oEKHCAABA

To do it correctly, there would be a car wash, then clay, then iron decontamination, then polish (probably just one step but could be more if heavy swirls/scratches) and finally ceramic application- some do one coat and some do two coats.
It could be more or less than three hours depending on efficiency and how many people are working.
You also have to factor in the cost of the products.
I’ve checked around at 4 different suppliers and they are all between $900 and $1400. It’s a 2-3 day process for the ceramic coating that lasts 2+ years and includes yearly applications to bolster the coating. This guy includes 3 year warranty and 2 yearly follow-up applications.
I’m sure ceramic coatings have their merit but not convinced it’s worth the price. If you have to hand wash to prevent damage, that maybe a concern. A good polish/wax 2-3 times a year should be sufficient and you will have money left over. Modern paints hold up well. How long do you plan to keep the G90?

Actually, we have budget surpluses here in Florida. It’s the tourists that make up the difference between an income tax and no income tax. Between the taxes on the cruise industry and the hotel/motel industry coupled with the major Park attractions (Disney, Universal, Sea World) and the boat and car rental industries, the State does just fine.
Also, the contract between Seminole Tribe (6 gambling properties) and the State nets billions in additional revenues. Add to the above the healthy Florida Lottery and proceeds from Powerball, and you end up a cornucopia of cash inflow.
Finally, with the continuous increase in population from people moving to Florida to escape cold weather and high taxes, the need for building homes and condos and apartment buildings is huge which produces other sources of revenues for State, County and local governments.
But there are negatives to this windfall, too. Insurance for cars, boats and homes/condos is one of the highest in the US. My condo insurance has almost doubled in the last 3 years and I pay $2000+ for auto insurance here in South Florida - twice what my brother pays just south of Jacksonville in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
So when you add it all up, the lack of an income tax is offset by the high cost of insurance (in South Florida where the population is extremely dense). But in Southwest and North/Northwest Florida, insurance rates are much lower for auto and property, especially away from the coastline.
I’d definitely vote for a couple if good details per year if worried about keeping the car shiny. Especially since I think you take the car for free washes at the dealer.

Wow, for $1200 or even $800 you could hire some kid to wax it once a month for as long as you own it.
