FYI, for those who may have missed this bit of trivia about my family, I was granted leeway on his middle name. So he is Ricardo Enzo.

@stickguy When we went to transfer utilities at the shore the electric went fine, but they couldn’t find the gas. I explained the PO has gas so why couldn’t they find it. Well they ended up searching their name and it came up with the wrong address. I said ok, let’s change it and make it right. The rep on phone said, probably not a good idea. It’s been like this since 2003, changing it could “mess things up”. So I left it and luckily it’s been fine. I can only assume the meter # matches the account # and that’s all they need.

That sounds like an answer you get when someone doesn’t know how to do it or doesn’t want to.
Coincidentally, I just had a call to Verizon this morning about my bill. I keep getting charged for a MLB package I never ordered and last month I had to call to have it removed and got the bill adjusted and paid the corrected amount. This month not only did that package appear again they said I owe them $98 and change as a past due amount. I even told them they sent an email last month telling me what I should pay and he confirmed they see it.
I told the guy I talked with today the only way I know how to fix their screw up is to cancel my account. They guy couldn’t get the reoccurring charge to be deleted but said he’d call me back sometime today or tomorrow when he can get someone to fix it and asked that I PLEASE not cancel in the mean time or I’d really get them screwed up. To have some fun I’m about to call and cancel especially since Comcast will be cheaper. But I was told repeatedly I was a valued customer. I wonder how they treat their run of the mill customers?

However, my wife fell in love with a 2021 Jupiter Red G 550; I think she would actually have voted to buy it at $100k, but unfortunately the asking price was $179k.
I had driven the M235i, and heading home on the interstate I tucked in behind a nice RS4. I kept pace with him and after a couple of miles I checked the speedometer and I was doing a bit north of 100 mph. That's why I normally use cruise control on limited access highways- the car is deceptively fast. Even more so than the E65 Alpina B7 press loaner I drove to Fort Worth and back in 2007. In any case, my wife never looked up from her Kindle- although I'm blessed in that she never complains about my cruising velocity.

The Nest Power Connector seems to have solved my problem with the Nest thermostat. It is a little adaptor that fakes having a common wire and allows it charge better from the air handler. So when you get down there if it’s low battery and it won’t charge up this may help you.
The best way is to have a common wire, but not always easy to run that. When I was installing the power connector I noticed that the thermostat wire may have an unused conductor which would have been perfect but since I already had it wired up I figured I would try it. If it gives me more trouble I’ll pull the loom apart further and see if I’m correct and just wire up the common terminal and eliminate the module.

That will only work if the common wire is connected to the control circuit at the furnace. If not look at the schematic on the furnace (usually found pasted to the panel that you have to remove to get to the furnace connections). Then turn the 110VAC power off to the furnace and connect the wire per the schematic. Easy peasy.

I’ve been tempted to install a Nest thermostat but I’m not convinced that you see significant savings with a heat pump.

Exactly it’s not connected as of now. The power connector module (and compressor trigger) is connected to the common terminal. If I I’m still having problems I will connect the extra conductor to the common at the furnace and at the thermostat as that is the best way. I didn’t notice there was an unused conductor until I had the module all wired up. If I would have seen it I would have not installed the module and gotten my $25 back.

I couldn’t tell you about savings, but I just love having control from my phone. I used to be able to tell Alexa to set the temp but that doesn’t seem to work anymore. Anyway, if I’m in bed or on the couch, I don’t want to get up. Just click the phone!
I also like I can do it away from home. On vacation and forgot to turn it down? No problem. Of course, it also sense you aren’t home and does it on its own. So that’s nice. It is just convenient. Yeah, there are other internet thermostats, but I don’t believe much different in price.

I don’t have one for savings but for piece of mind when we aren’t here through the winter. The app allows me to see what the temp is in the house at any time. If the heater were to malfunction the app would notify me if the house falls below 45. It’s also nice to remotely raise or lower the temp when we are on our way down

It’s a good thing you’re not a judge. I saw a statistic once that said going by looks you’re wrong more than 60% of the time. Now, once folks open their mouths you’ve got a much better chance, but looks, that’s treading in water where you shouldn’t be.
Maybe our judge could shed some light on this.

Anything connected to the internet can’t be as secure as people would like to believe it is. Anything a manufacturer says should not be believed cart blanche because too many instances have proven they are not the most truthful.
Personally, I’ve never had a problem walking over to my thermostat to change it. The exercise won’t hurt me. The more we rely on these gizmos the more we stop thinking which can’t be good for our gray matter.

I learned early on that I should focus on testimony and not the appearance of a witness. I had the advantage of seeing a lot of the same people over and over so they had a track record. For example, I knew some officers would prefer giving a warning 99% of the time over writing a ticket, so when I had a case where one of those cops wrote a ticket I figured the defendant had probably done something. Conversely, and more frequently, there were officers who were overzealous with regards to writing tickets, so a lot of tickets from those cops were viewed with considerable skepticism.
Of course the most fun was to be had in Small Claims court- AKA: “The Gong Show.”
Keep in mind, the most accurate depiction of the American legal system is still the old NBC series “Night Court.”

So I received the following email from an out-of-state BMW dealer:
My team has discovered an opportunity for you to drive home a pre-owned BMW. Trade in your 2014 BMW M235i Coupe and enjoy the updated benefits of a newer 2020 BMW 230i xDrive Coupe.
Call me crazy, but I don't consider giving up 72 hp and being saddled with AWD to be "benefits."
But that's just me.

I will provide a few examples here. I have been getting injections in my left knee for the last 8 or 9 years. SynVisc or MonoVisc, every 6 months or so. Initially, I had very good private insurance, and my out of pocket was about $10 or $20 for the office visit. Then I was on not so good private insurance, and my out of pocket went up to about $350 per injection. After going on Medicare (with a supplement), my out of pocket is $0.
Now in the not so perfect category, I have to get the 3 separate injections, I can't get the single shot. Which means 3 office visits, not just one. But still -0- out of pocket.
Last year, I fell and cut my hand open, requiring stitches. I drove down the street to an emergency clinic, who told me upfront they did not accept Medicare. I drove a little further to an Urgent Care clinic, who accepted Medicare, and the doctor put 4 stitches in my hand. Out of pocket, -$0-.
Last year, I had a heart ablation procedure. The bill was unbelievable, around $96k, and this was outpatient, check in at 6 a.m., check out around 6 p.m. Not actual surgery (the way I look at it, anyway). I wound up paying around $150 out of pocket, and I don't even remember now what that was for.
So, yes, I like Medicare, and I support the idea of Medicare for all. It does work, and it works better than most private insurances. We have had it here in the US for decades now, and it is very poplular.
