Too bad that he didn’t learn from his prior speeding ticket

Sometimes speed is relative. Yesterday we were on I-287 in NJ where the speed limit was 65. I was just keeping up with traffic and occasionally hit 87. It was like driving on a race track but if I was doing 65 I would have been rear ended or run off the road.
Which is one of the reasons I do not want one of those "speed nannies" being pushed by some car insurance companies.

That's the problem with speeding tickets; they are dumb. If he was driving dangerously, he should have got a reckless driving charge that might actually make him think twice, otherwise, why pull him over? Answer = $$$$.

Officer's should have the ability to exhibit discretion, and not be afraid of someone challenging their citation. A lot of the feedback from former Officer's is that they like speeding tickets because they don't get fought, and if they do get fought, they can't lose. Why are they so afraid to write a ticket that might not hold up? It's not like they get reprimanded for it.

Ended up with about quotes from a dozen shippers.
Quote was $760. Shiply charged me $65 for their quote gathering service, which came off the $760.
Shipper changed me 5% of balance to put on a credit card, so total was just under $800.
Process was fairly easy and great communication from the shipper, so it was worth it.
I might have to rent a U Haul trailer if all our stuff doesn't fit on the moving truck and didn't want to make 2 trips to OH.

How come you shipped one car but you end up with 3?
Couldn't you stuff the Mustang with all those extra items...or add a U-Haul on it on the trailer truck?

    @driver100,
Broker charge of $65 plus Shipper charge $695 = $760. Another 5% was charged on top of the $695 by the shipper for using a credit card.
I might put things like lawn mowers in the rented trailer if I need it.
In the car you were allowed up to an additional 100 lbs, but that isn't much.

As much as I kind of hate the Red Sox, I feel bad for them.
Keep having to update the score. Started out this post at 21.
They are losing 25-3 in the 5th inning and it isn't over yet.
Previous 2 games were lost 14-1 and 13-2.
I think they will have a new manager tomorrow.

Some of you may have seen the news story about the lady in Michigan who sued a guy for standing her up on a date. The nitwit argued with the judge over the definition of perjury and would not shut up. It reminded me of a small claims case that my fellow judge asked me to hear because she knew one of the parties. It was between two women- and they not only hated each other, but they couldn’t stop talking over each other. About 2 minutes into the hearing I informed both ladies that the next person who talked out of turn lost. 20 seconds later the case was over. I walked out of the courtroom and the other judge gave me “the look”(that she often gave me) and asked, “WHAT did you do?”
“I heard your damn case!” was my reply.

Up to the break, I called the Sox a good bad team. I was wrong, they are now a bad bad team. Probably not Cora's fault, rather management constructing a "value" roster. Maybe some injuries, but perhaps you get what you (over?) pay for.

That would never happen to the Pirates organization as long as their thrifty owner is in charge. And, he’s already threatened the city that when he decides to step aside, he’s turning over control of the team to his daughters.

Hmmm. Sometimes I hate my job. I got called at 530 am for a case at 10 am. “Foreign body in rectum”. Hmm

I go in at 9. Nurse asks what it could be. I say “well we have a 59 yr old male who is HIV+, hepatitis C + and used meth two days ago . He has a 7.5 in by 1.5 inch cylindrical object in his rectum. Do you have any ideas what it might be?” She says “never mind “.

Pt says “it happened in Louisville two nights ago and I drove home yesterday , I probably should have gone to a hospital in Louisville when it happened “.

    Interesting.

I did talk to the house supervisor and ask for them to maybe call at a more reasonable hour since he was admitted at 6 pm the night before…

I think the timing of this emergency calls by house supervisor's is universal.

A colleague of mine, a GI, said when he got those emergency foreign body calls involving an “orifice”, he was just hoping when he put in the endoscope that he wouldn’t see any eyes staring back at him.

@mjfloyd1 My mother was in the hospital a few years ago and a woman in the same room would say she wanted to sleep, and she closed all the curtains. One day the staff looked in and found her smoking, lots of smoke floating around. they told her if she did it again she would be out....she needed serious cancer treatment. She called her husband, told him to pick up a carton of cigarettes and then to come to the front door and pick her up to take her home. The nurse came in and said she has gone, and there is no way she will be readmitted again for her cancer treatment.

Smoking must be a strong addiction.

That’s the issue. It wasn’t an emergency. It would have been done last night if it was emergency case

In a similar vein, I'd get calls at 3:00 am from police wanting a search warrant for a car that's already been towed in to the impound lot; unless it's a literal matter of life and death it can wait until morning- the car isn't going anywhere.

we are back from vacation. sadly our mountains of stuff did not disappear, or pack itself, while we are gone. I am seriously concerned about getting this done, especially since the wife will be swamped at work next week. .

If you haven't used it in 2 years you probably won't need it again, and if you do need it you will never find it. Not only that, but it will be cheaper to buy a new one than to haul all that stuff from one location to another.
There should be a rule, you must move every 6 years and throw out anything that hasn't been used in 2 years. Maybe also, get rid of 25% of junk every time you move too.

On to day 3 of shiite show weekend call. No better. Nurse hands me a bag of “iv fluid”. It is sterile water that should never be given iv. Ugh. Thankfully I saw it before I even opened the bag..Wow. Remind me never to take call here again.

That's the problem with speeding tickets; they are dumb. If he was driving dangerously, he should have got a reckless driving charge

I know all this. and 2 years? Try 20+ for a lot of it. I however am not the problem. The other half has attachment issues. To everything it seems.
