As a positive note on the steering, it makes for a great view of the instruments.

I think that steering wheel is a pre-production model. All the pictures I see show a normal wheel.

The lone salesman in the Chevy showroom suggested I should try out the Camaro convertible @ $50000. He said it's the season for convertibles. I told him my season for convertibles aged out about 30 years ago.

Interesting, that’s about how long I wanted a convertible. Totally impractical but puts a smile on my face every time. A $50k price tag would wipe it right off though.

Maybe, but I just read a review of the RX e450 in the newspaper and the guy who test drove it showed a picture of it and commented on it.
Normal driving position was at 10 and 2 when I taught driving to high school students, I think you would have to hold on at 9 and 3 to use that steering wheel.

I believe that the yoke is an option on the Lexus, a normal wheel is available. Or, maybe vice-versa; but I just don't get the yoke. I never do.

9-3 is now recommended (and probably should be 8-4) because of airbags, to keep your forearms out of the way.

I consider that steering device a safety issue. As I’ve recently taught my son, I am insistent that the driver’s arms should not cross and should use shuffling instead. Can’t shuffle that steering non-wheel thing.

I’m pretty sure if you get the Lexus with that yoke the steering assist/geometry is much different. It doesn’t require full turns to go lock to lock and reacts differently depending on speed you are going.

Different for the sake of being different. That steering wheel will be troublesome for the cohort who nervously grips their wheel at 11 and 1 at all times.

Yes, I believe that is what I read in the review of the RX e 450. Very short turning radius.

i wonder if the "yoke" in edgy Muskmobiles contributes to similar issues.

I was just looking at my Subaru dealers' web site. Particularly at Forester's since my wife doesn't need something as big as the Ascent anymore, and she still wants a Subaru.

They have about 4 in stock and about 10 "In Transit". Some of them show a $1,000 discount right on the web page so discounts are starting to become available. The bad news is the $1,000 discounts are on the $39,000 Foresters. :o They sure got expensive.

We are going to wait for the 2024 redesign that is rumored, especially since we don't have the title to the Ascent. Grrr.

Watch a video on it, very different geometry from a round wheel. I’m not saying it wouldn’t be difficult to get used to, but if you aren’t turning it 360 degrees it’s not as bad as you think

Wow. My local dealer has 35 2023 models in total, and ZERO Foresters. Another nearby dealer has 61 cars, with just 5 Foresters. Another one: 27 total, 4 Foresters

I'd wonder if your dealer is listing everything in transit for the entire region/market?

The Subaru dealer where we got our Outback shows 34 Foresters, either in stock or in transit.

The dealer closest to me only shows 11 Foresters, however (and, they're AutoNation)

I check out the local Subaru store 2 or 3 times a week. The new car section has been somewhat barren for years as far as cars sitting on the ground looking for an owner to purchase them. I see a few on the ground outside these days. I assume they likely have presold most of their allotments. I check the store from a distance as I drive by on the interstate overpass.

This store is in an area of high military population.

I don't go by dealers much at my new house. Other than a Chevy dealer I pass fairly often, and a Ford slightly less often. those are both only a few minutes away. Also a GMC/Buick dealer is closest, but on a stretch of road I rarely use. everything else is about 15 minutes away or more, and/or in an area I normally never go to.

maybe next week if there is a nice day I will make up an excuse to run some errands, and go hit up a few!
