I fixed a flapper last week.
The water was running out for 5 hours before I got home.
I told Mrs Driver100 to expect a big water bill.
She said no problem, we don't get a water bill.

I hope the KC contingent all picked up some of the $30 tickets to watch the Chiefs game in person tonight. A balmy -7 out there, good football weather!

I watched and cheered from the comfort of my easy chair at home. The second half from my warm bed.
The stands were packed, and of course there were some with their shirts off, etc. Brutally cold, -11 F and -28 wind chill.

I didn't go to the game.. this was before I had season tickets ('90-'10)

But, I was headed to a bar out in the hills, to watch the game with co-workers. About 20 miles away, with 10 miles of that interstate.

Had a '76 CJ-5 with canvas top/doors. Took me 20 minutes to get it started, where it would idle. Then, four ATMs, before I found one that was operable, and not frozen (pre-credit card). Got on the interstate, and every time I'd try to shift to 3rd gear, it would slow down, and start to die.. So, stuck in 2nd, and could never get over 35 mph. Over an hour in the Jeep, and never got heat.

But, when I got there, a really nice pot luck, and cold beer. And a big raging fire in the bar's fireplace.
And, the Bengals won, and played in the Super Bowl, later that year. :)

FWIW, I’m pretty sure forever stamps are 0.62 now. Glad I bought about 50 bucks worth a while back when they were 0.55. Talk about sticking it to them. I smile every time I write a check.

that was the genius of the forever stamps. Gets people to buy early so they front load income, and they can raise prices and nobody actually realizes because there isn't a value on the stamp.

They come pre-moistened - just peel it off the roll and attach it to the envelope.

I have a book of stamps from 2013 that isn't empty yet.

If one mails a lot of stuff, you can buy old postage at a discount of face - but you'll end up putting several stamps on an envelope. I bought a bunch of stuff from an estate sale a few years ago, and in it was maybe $600 face in postage. I think I sold it for around $375.

I doubt those would have tasted very good.

@oldfarmer50 Accounts payable aren't set up for checks any more. They are trying to automate things these days. It probably costs $10 to process a check these days.
good. send a check, stick it to the man.

I'm surprised you don't switch to save the $.55 apiece (or whatever stamps cost now).
Not to mention envelopes, and you have to lick the envelope.......how crude! :#

We use glue sticks, just run one along the glue on the envelope and seal it. Works great.

We buy stamps by the roll for the cooking studio. We send out thank you notes to all our birthday chefs - maximum of 6 in a weekend.

Who licks them? They should offer flavors...like Mocha, chocolate, bourbon,.............
They come pre-moistened - just peel it off the roll and attach it to the envelope.
Actually I checked and that is what we have. MrsD100 mails any envelopes, so I forget they have a better system, though I'd prefer the flavored stamps if they were available.

Do you first peel off any stamps where they missed date stamping them, and then use them again?

Sure, if they’re the right flavor.
