Hey Mike, or anyone.....what do you know about John Stallupi's Cars of Dreams Museum in Palm Beach County Florida? Hundreds of old cars...Corvettes, Chrysler 300s, Shelby Mustang. All set up in a private museum in a former mall. All set up with period pieces, merry go round, old stores, bumper cars etc.
Open only 3 days a year for charity events.
Maybe the Cars and Conversation Seniors Club could get tickets. Next event is March 15th.

I got a whopping $8 on our personal tickets ($30 worth) and we each got something like 80 cents in the office pool ($20 each). So I gambled $50 and lost $41 of it. I've done worse on an Atlantic City day trip in the past.

I actually lost even more this morning on the way to work when a cop ran my plate and discovered my registration expired last month. I lost track of such things between the move and the holiday. $54 ticket. Sigh.

You asked about low mileage leases a couple of pages back.

It depends on the manufacturer as to whether 7500 mile leases are available. Lexus offers them, for example, but BMW does not.

Generally, it would add 1% to the residual value when compared to a 10,000 mile lease. So, on a $50,000 car, that's another $500.

Porsche offers 5000 mile leases, and Audi does as well on the R8.

Honda does not even offer 10,000 mile leases - 12,000 or 15,000 only.

Thanks for the info. The wife is toying with the idea of switching out from the PT and asked about leasing. She only drives about 5000 miles a year so a 12-15k lease would be a waste.

Wonder if she'd like a Porsche?

I've seen some of the reports on Cadillac in general. As everyone knows, I've had my own share of grief from the brand. I don't consider any of what I read as GM bashing.

However, I can say unequivocally, the materials and build quality used in today's Cadillac is 2nd to none. All of it is first rate....and I've owned and/or test driven some of the most revered brands in the industry over the past few years. Cadillac's build and material quality gives up nothing to them. Even performance is as good or better, depending on the price point.

It's some of the not quite ready for prime time engineering that needs work. And, as far as I can tell, their entire franchise structure needs a significant overhaul. For example, CUE is a good idea that lost out in its implementation. It took Cadillac two model years to get all the bugs out. That's unacceptable in a $20K car, let a lone a $65K car.

Current version of CUE? State-of-the-Art, tops in class. You can't tell me in 2012 or 2013, whenever Cadillac was doing development for the 2014 version of CUE that they tested it and said "yep, that works just grand". If they did say that, they should be fired.

Can't continue to do that and expect sales volumes to climb. That fact can't be that hard to comprehend. Yet, for Cadillac, seems like it is.

I don't think Cadillac competes on value price wise when you look at performance if you look at the sticker prices. Now if you say the real world transaction prices are much lower thanks to massive rebates and GM's known tendency to dramatically overprice their product into account, then maybe. But if you are solely comparing stickers, I don't think they compete very well. Maybe my data is outdated, but what kind of 0-60 times and HP can I get at Cadillac these days for $50K?

Wow, it's amazing that I've recently moved as well, and missed my car registration which is in early November. I too, forgot about it, but I remembered only 2 weeks after the fact and was still within my license place sticker month. I blamed the DMV for not having sent me the bill. I told them I moved, but the move wasn't the reason I didn't receive the registration bill reminder because I had access to both mailboxes still. They said the yearly bill was just a "courtesy notice." Where have we heard that before? You guessed it, the Courts.

I argued with them, and in order for them to remove the imposed "late fees of $75 extra" I had to let them take a pound of flesh out and appear in person at a DMV office. I loathe to go into a CA DMV office, but I did so, because I didn't want to pay the $75. I had to waste 2 hours in a DMV office, and they told me they only waive the late fee "for any reason" one time during a vehicle's lifetime.

So they got their two hours and a pound of flesh out of me, but I figure I paid myself $37.50/hour for the torture (minus gas and mileage which wasn't too much as it was close to work).

If you had found a store with a printer that could print very fast, in order to print all 272 million winning combo's, you could guarantee yourself a profit playing the PowerBall this last week. Splitting the prize 3 ways would really hurt that projected profit margin though! You'd of been in the RED!

Now I've seen everything!  I was looking up gasoline prices on my App and low and behold I saw an animated advertisement for "motion-sensitive" night toilet lights in 6 optional colors of light.  When you approach the toilet at night, it picks up your motion and illuminates the entire interior of the toilet bowl.  If that isn't enough to scare the "excrement" (I cleaned it up a bit) out of you at 2:00 AM in the morning, nothing will!  :s

I bought $10 worth of powerball tickets last week.  Some people are spending $10 - $20 - $50 - $100 on Powerball tickets.  It's crazy
    .
If you have to play, the smartest thing is to buy one ticket for $2........if you win it will just be by some incredible fluke any way. Buying 5 or 10 tickets only increases your chance of winning by a tiny fraction of a percent.

But if you buy 5 tickets (all put on one ticket #A-E), and #E combo wins the prize, you wouldn't have won had you skimped on paying $10.

I think Tennessee charges a convenience fee to renew on-line. They don't want to eat the credit card fees, so you pay your normal fee plus around 3.5%. A stamp is cheaper for me. But I might rethink some of those. Right now I have a full service US Post office about 35 steps from my desk. I retire from the hospital tomorrow so I will have to probably buy some stamps and locate a drop box where I can mail things.

How many of you remember some of these electronics companies who at one time or another produced TV's in the 1950's:

Sylvania, Philco, Admiral, Dumont and DuMont, RCA, Curtis Mathes, Emerson, Fisher, GE, Gold Star, Lloyd's, Magnavox, Marantz, Motorola, Muntz, Packard Bell, Westinghouse and Zenith.

I was reading an article on early manufacturers of television, many of which are no longer around.  I remember all of them.  But now, the Japanese manufacturers are prevalent.

If I'm reading correctly, talking sticker price, I guess you'd look at an ATS 3.6 with 333 hp and 0-60 in the low 5-sec range. I could not find solid data on acceleration because the 3.6 is a new 3.6 for 2016 with better power and efficiency than the 2015.

as you said, incentives are where its at. I paid $49k for my CTS V sport with 430hp and 0-60 in 4.5, with a 174mph top speed, I might add (only because so many other companies are capping their performance sedans at 155).

I agree with that last part, that's why when I usually play (which is rare) I play the regular state lottery which while the payoffs are often much less you are something like 20 times more likely to win.

Hey I did get one powerball number so my ticket is worth $4 I might roll that over to tomorrows regular state lottery as it's over $20 million.

An ATS-V starts at just over $60K but according to True Car it can be had for $58K and of course your mileage may vary. It has 464 HP and 445 lbs of torque and according to some little known site called Edmunds does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds.

I had mentioned my son's Maytag washer quitting. Lowes has their own service branch which will handle the warranty service and the additional 4 years if you buy extended. We couldn't find receipt and had called Lowes. Sales said their service already had record of purchase. So their company in the area that does the calls canceled coming to apartment because the symptoms said lid switch was problem; they'd order part and come to install. Waited 7 days for them to get a part from either 20 miles or 40 miles away in Dayton or Columbus.

Contacted Maytag service. Scheduled for 3 days out. Got call that afternoon they had guy on call close and could come to repair washer. He did. Diagnosed main computer board--not lid switch. But the service company handling Maytag/Whirlpool/Jenn Aire/Kitchenaide calls was professional.

He set up return 2 days after local appliance parts company got part in. His company sent me a link yesterday for his schedule through the day. I can see which call he's on so I know how close he is to getting to the apartment.

    Live tracking, like FedEx shipments.

I don't think much of Lowe's Service arm now. They took complaint about their service contractor in that area. But I'll hear nothing more from them. Almost makes me glad I didn't buy the extended service contract they offer at time of purchase for the additional 4 years. I wouldn't deal with the fools at the Springfield Ohio appliance repair. This is the result of their taking lowest bidder on part of Lowes.

The computer cost: $260 for purchase on repairclinic.com. If it goes out again, new washer time.

Additionally, his company won't service LG and Samsung. Too many problems in how they're engineered and in getting parts. They service all other brands, along with being trained Whirlpool techs. He used his tablet for everything even photographing the model number and serial number plate.

The newer refrigerators are noisy at times because of the change in freon to a more supposedly earth-friendly freon type.

I bought 5 Powerball tickets for Saturdays draw, and 5 tickets for Wednesdays draw.
Out of all those numbers mine didn't match any of the winning numbers.
Shouldn't I get some kind of prize for not matching even one number.

    Winning numbers: 4-8-19-27-34-Powerball 10

we bought a new washer and it sucks. wife hates it and wants it gone. I fought with home depot for a while, but they don't take returns on major appliances AT ALL. We have decided we are done with Home Depot forever after this. It is a high-efficiency top-loader. I had my doubts about such a design but the reviews were good. So we're out like $800. Sigh.

GE finally sold (after years of trying) their appliance division to China. That can't hurt. The Electrolux brands have been pretty bad it sounds like.

Good repairman is hard to find.......make sure you know how to reach him again.
I like that tracking system, and the fact they use the tablet to be efficient.
That is a company that delivers....more than expected. And, they are passionate about doing the job right, love those kind of companies.
Hardly ever worth repairing an older appliance. Cost is too much in relation to the possibility it will need another repair soon, and overall cost more than a new one with a warranty.
