Review
The Dodge Neon is the worst car I have ever had. I wanted the car because it was cheap. But the car repairs make up for the money that I was trying to save. I had to replace the head gasket. It cost me a thousand dollars to fix. The brakes are bad. They have to have a heavy duty liner on it to help it last a little longer. The car is loud when you drive it. The axle was bad. The heat doesn't work well at all. The clear coat on the paint is coming off. It just is a sad little car what can I say.

Just do the opposite of what they did when they made it.
I guarantee that the worst case scenario German car costs much less than the typical Neon for $/mile (not including purchase price) I like the line on worst features. Chrysler should do the opposite of what they think is right everytime, and they would make America great again.

The insurance company doesn't seem to want to pay for the Tech Pkge on the 2017 model - $2600!
Remember the 2015 car had a Premium PKge for $5000 that had all the features of the Premium Pkge plus these features, LED adoptive headlights, auto hi-beam activation, 360 degree top view camera. The 2017 model has the same Premium Pkge for $3000 , but to get those features they call it a Tech Pkge for $2600.
I think they are trying to get away with whatever they can. I have sent an email to the ex-insurance company owner to see what recourse I have.

Someone needs to invent an app where you choose all of your preferred options ala cart and then the app configures the closest real-world approximations to your selections given how the automaker limits option packages.
Some automaker websites sort of do this in real-time by telling you when you are making an impossible combination (yellow exterior, red interior; nope can't do that, must select XYZ when choosing this option). My idea is better, just at the end auto configure 3 options that come close to what you want, some under budget, some over budget.
To evaluate the improvement in driveability, we updated our Vega to the new-model specifications. It's an altogether different car. The old holes in the throttle response have successfully been filled. But there has been a noticeable power loss, partially due to the cam and partly attributable to the air pump, which engineers say costs 7 hp at the peak. The car is slower. Top speed dropped from an indicated 105 mph to 95 mph and 1.0 mph disappeared from the quarter-mile speeds. But the car is so much easier to drive that the power loss is a fair trade.

As for your guarantee, not worth much as I know people who spent more on brake jobs for high end Benz's then we spent altogether on our Neon. IIRC in a little more than 50K of driving (bought used with 60K+ on the clock) all we put into it was oil changes and a brake job. Ignoring the price of the car, insurance and gas we likely paid out less than a penny a mile.

It's been a long standing tradition for the Cubs to fly a white flag with a blue 'W' on it after the Cubs win and a blue flag with a white 'L' on it if the Cubs lost. This was done to let people going by the park on their way home the outcome of the game. Cubs fans wave the 'W' flags at games when the Cub win and some of the fans of opposing teams (especially those with strong rivalries) will wave the 'L' flag if the Cubs lose.
Well last night due to rain the game ended early after 6 innings with a tie score (first MLB tied game in 11 years), so we can't fly the 'W' or the 'L' so we have to fly a 'T'.

Edmunds own summary review says to stay away from the ones that have had transmission or engine issues. That would be pretty much all of them if you consider head gaskets an engine issue.
I'd suspect most of the Neon's still on the road have doubled their original MSRP in repair bills by now (not including regular maintenance). Some people just don't understand how money works I guess.
Now in with the type of performance driving that most here prefer you will not get that with the Smart, but for driving in tightly packed urban jungles it does great.

After his junior year in high school Son #1 wanted to work at a very large Chevy dealership near us for the summer so he applied for the job as lot boy/car washer. One of the questions on the job application was, "can you drive a standard transmission"?
After he learned on my automatic I showed him how to drive a stick that belonged to a friend who had a beater and was willing to let him learn on that. Almost right from the beginning, yes he stalled it a few times and lightly polished a few gears, but he got it down pat better than I did when I learned how to drive a stick. Any way, he answered "yes" to the question. Got a call the next day to come in for an interview. The first question asked of him by the SM was, "can you really drive a stick because if you can you have a good chance of getting this job but we are going to talk to other kids before we decide who to hire. We had to let the kid that had this job go before he ruined too many cars. So, don't make me waste my time taking you on a test drive if you can't drive a stick". My son took the test drive and waited to hear from the SM who said he did pretty good. The SM called the next morning and told him he got the job because he did a LOT better than the other kids that he interviewd and wanted him to start right away, like that day! Since this was at the start of the Summer he went down immediately.
The part he liked best about this job was that they took him to a couple actions along with other employees so that he could drive cars back to the dealership. He became the designated "stick shift driver" because not too many employees could be trusted with a stick. He likes to tell the story about how he damn near wet his pants one time when they let him drive a Vette back to the store. Just before he is about to drive back the SM said, "if you so much as scratch this car I'll have your [non-permissible content removed] and it will come out of your pay, believe me". :@
I was very surprised that they would let a kid drive anything back from an action let alone a Vette even in the late '80's. I doubt that a kid today could do that no matter how well he could drive a stick.

remember that the good reviews 4 and 5 stars outnumbered the bad reviews 3 stars and less. And the fact you picked one of the worst reviews and claimed it was a typical review while all the time apparently ignoring the vast number of good reviews the car got.

Speaking of kids working for a dealer and crazy cars, when I got the E250, I arranged for the dealership to give me a loaner and drive me back to my car when the dashcam was moved over. I got a ride back from a young attendant who was driving a 2013 E63, a nice high option car. He nearly crashed it just as we pulled out of the lot, not checking for cross traffic. That was interesting.

My question is that blind spot warning supposed to act like that and why?

My first second car was a rusted out '67 Chevy Impala 2 door (Power Glide tranny) that my Father wanted to give to me so that Mrs. j didn't have to get up, dress Son #1 and take me to work, which was a whapping 3 miles away, when she needed to have the car. I didn't want the beast if for nothing else other than I didn't even think that it was worth the cost of the additional insurance but he insisted so I gave him about $200 for it in the early 70's. Mrs. j refused to drive it, so she inherited my car, which I knew she would. Therefore, I became the owner of this beast.
This thing had rusted out rocker panels and the lower part of the rear fenders plus a few other area. I remember patching it for my Father when it was his third car that he used as a beater. I never bothered to even putty or paint this thing, just pop riveted on galvanized sheet metal from old duct work and left it at that. I guess people must have thought that anything that looked like that couldn't have working brakes (it did and I made sure of that). So, when I came to a 4 way stop sign every one wanted me to go first. I mentioned this to Mrs. j a few times when I was coming to a 4 way stop but she didn't think it was so funny. She didn't even want to be seen in it and thought I should at least "paint it a little".
That thing wasn't worth a little of anything but it did give me the right of way at stop signs. So who am I to complain?

When you reach 30 mph the orange light goes off. Then it will flash if there is a car in your blindspot.
If you put your signal light on, and if there is a car in your blindspot, there will be a loud beeping noise.
I think it was designed this way because at low speeds you could have all kinds of cars next to you, and they would make the blindspot warning meaningless....so it really starts once you reach 30 mph.

And the disappointing Pirates get to claim the other end of the tie. The way the Pirates played this year it would have been better to have more ties.
Whoever said a "tie is like kissing your sister", never had to live with the uglies the Pirates are hanging out with now.

When I was in high school driver's ed had a 65 Coronet, Impala or Galaxie. You could request a specific one for your behind the wheel. They also had an old 57 Chevy with 3 on the tree for anyone needing to learn stick shift. My dad had a Ford with 3 on the tree, so I opted to learn on the Coronet. I liked the idea of a lighter weight car with a bigger 318 V8
I had driver's ed when the downsized FS chevy's were fairly new (it was 1978). At that point, all my driving was in a Beetle and a Volvo 144. Both sticks, manual steering and brakes. So, I had developed certain "habits".
first time I drove the Chebby, teacher had us go from one telephone pole, and stop at the next one. Well, starting was fine, I knew how ATs worked. But, power brakes were a new concept. Get to the next pole, and mash the brake pedal. I think I bounced the front bumper off the road it stopped so hard. Had to adjust the touch after that.
Hey, you try stopping a 4 wheel disk manual brake 69 Volvo without some serious pressure on the pedal. It ain't happening!

I was moving into our second house in 1989 and I needed his '77 GMC pickup for a few things before the new buyers closed on my old house that I left there after I moved to the second house. He said, "take your time I won't need it over the weekend so don't worry about keeping it for more than one day". I said take my sons car he's off at school (Penn State) so he won't need it, so he accepted my offer. Son #1 had a '74 Olds Omega with a 350 V8 but it had standard brakes.
The following Monday when I got to work I went to his desk and gave him his keys. He said, "it should be illegal to put that engine in that car without power brakes and you should have warned me it didn't have power brakes. The first time after I got it up to speed checking it out and came to a stop sign, I damn near didn't get it stopped in time. Don't ever do that to me again". :@

I thought I might be the only one who noticed this, but, obviously this salesman who sold them experienced the same major flaw;
The test drive in a Chevette was an experience. You had to be a contortionist because the driver’s seat did not sit square. It wasn’t exactly facing the front. The steering wheel came at you from an angle and it was off center. So much so that your right hand would be about two inches closer to your body than your left. For the driver it all came together with the hump in the floor from the transmission, remember the Chevette was still rear wheel drive. So all of the pedals were offset to the left. So your driving position was crooked, with your upper torso twisted to the right and your legs twisted to the left and your arms at two different lengths, in other words, a chiropractors dream.

That's a strange way for the blind spot warning to operate. Why wouldn't it turn off if there's no one in the danger area?
My '14 Malibu's blind spot is off until there's someone in the adjacent lane, then it turns on solid. If I start to change lanes the lane control beeps and the light in the mirror flashes. If I turn on my turn signal and there's someone in the blind area, the light in the mirror flashes like crazy, whether I wander over the lane markers or not.
Sitting still there's no orange light blinding me from the mirror if the lane's empty.
