We are grandfathered in with $1million liability in Florida, but, we won't be able to get that again. I wouldn't feel good having less, but, one day I may have to.
Down here there ar lots of people driving around without insurance or a license. I read about them all the time. They are usually in a big accident or do a hit and run, and they aren't supposed to be driving at all....and usually it is about their 8th conviction.
That's why I pay $1901 a year for auto insurance down here in South Florida. My brother has the identical car that I have and he carries higher limits of liability and uninsured motorist and he pays less than half of what I pay - he lives just south of Jacksonville, FL. It's because of all the uninsured and underinsured people who are driving down here and the high level of fraudulent claims.
Table and deck were clean yesterday and it's still coming down.
There was a travel ban today, but I didn't know about it until I was part way to work, so I kept going.
Took local roads on the way home, State Police were ticketing for driving on the highway.
I wonder is someone will take the "travel banner" to court - it's not American to ban travel!
You should tell your local Ford dealer about these Mustangs...he is selling 2016s for less than the dealers 2015.
Not sure why folks are thinking these stangs are cheap. The ecoboost premiums are $19k-$20k auction and he is asking near $26k. He's got $9k markup on the GT premium and the low-mileage ecoboost. These are anything but bargains.

Hey....I'm actually BACK! A million thanks to Karen who somehow pushed the right buttons and got me back in under isellhondas! It's been a long frustrating experience and I only hope I lasts!
Hope all of you are doing well and for those in the East.....be careful!
Craig
Hmmmm, are you sure you are the Craig who used to be isellhondas4 who used to be isellhondas? You need to prove you are who you say you are. You have to answer this question correctly as proof of your true identity:
Who is the real President of the United States (POTUS)?
You have 24 hours to come up with the correct answer or you will be ignored as an imposter!

FDR....right?
Yeah! Welcome back Craig! You answered the question exactly how the real isellhondas would answer it - WRONG! Had you said Trump, you would would have been correct, but the Craig we know and love is usually wrong!!!
I think you have a very good idea........the one about going back to shoveling snow.
What does this mean?
TMU for mileage but I think the motor and transmission have been rebuilt.
And why does a car with 39000 miles on it need:
I have installed many new parts.all new braking system: Master cylinder; vacuum booster; both front and rear rubber brake hoses; wheel cylinders front and rear; brake drums rear; brake shoes front and rear; emergency brake cables: New carburetor; 4 gas shocks; rear coil springs; sway bar bushings; new bucket seats and rear seat upholstery, carpet, convertible top boot, a complete base coat/ clear coat paint job. This paint job is now over 20 years old and still looks good. There was some filler work done and it shows in a couple of places. Mostly low behind the doors and over the rear wheel opening. The frame also has been repaired. I think the motor and transmission have been rebuilt.
Photos always make a car look much better than they do in person and based on the photos I think that Buick is a made over bondo bucket. The side trim is wrong and the fact it's needed all of that work makes me think that TMU is WAY WAY off! " I think" the motor and transmission have been rebuilt". Yep, they probably were about 250,000 miles ago under a oak tree somewhere!

That was my impression as well. His pricing didn't seem cheap for cars with some miles on them.

There must be some fraud going on in NY because I just got walloped with a 30% increase. They want $2100 for 3 vehicles, 2 with full coverage and 500/500 limits.
Pitched a fit with them today. Dropped collision and comprehensive on the wife's car for a $300 savings. I'm also trying to remove my younger son who no longer drives from the policy.
Been with them for over 20 years and never filed a claim.

@oldfarmer, It's kind of counter intuitive, but the longer you stay with an auto insurance carrier, the more likely your rates will go up, everything else being equal. Just like the cable company or Sirius, you have to tell them you are leaving to get a better price.

Yep! I was with Geico for way too long. Jumped ship to Liberty Mutual and am paying about 40% less.
I have Liberty Mutual for the car and the Condo. I've checked rates with other companies and I could not save any money by changing companies. I get a special discount because of my 2 policies with them.
It's where I live that is the problem. The Broward and Miami-Dade County area is a true misery for auto premiums.

Yes, I've followed that discussion here. Just funny that they waited 20 years to play that game. I thought they might be charging me for the time someone rear ended my bus at work but today they said no.
I'd shop around but I still have a home/farm bundle with them and since my older son wants to try his hand at the business I have to keep that for at least one more year.

@driver100, We did hit head to head, although it was perpendicular. I was headed north on I-95, they were headed east.
Bad, but not as bad as straight on head to head. I don't have the picture handy but IIRC damage to your car was mostly left fender. It seems your car held up pretty well, but head to head on a highway....two cars going even 70 mph...is an impact of 140 mph (good math skills huh?) and that would probably have caused a lot more damage....like you probably wouldn't be around to post here any more.

They use the classic principles of the con. Insurance companies start you off with low rates and extras to gain your trust. Then they raise rates. By the time you realize you are paying too much it is too much trouble to try to shop around. So, you sign up for another year and tell yourself next year you will look into alternatives. Then the whole process repeats itself.
oldfarmer, too bad you don't ski.....you could head to Ellicotville or some other mountains in the area.
Don't feel bad, I don't ski either, never could afford it....talk about expensive sports. And you have to stay at expensive lodges and have the latest equipment and clothes :@

So $700 per car with a son on the policy is bad? I'd be ecstatic for such a deal in NJ.

Agreed. That is not out of line for what I would expect. Might be able to shave something off, but not much fat on that bone!
I pay slightly more per year, but that includes 3 cars, full coverage, and a now 21 YO girl on the policy. I switched from Allstate a few years ago to AAA, and last year did get another quote (liberty) and it was more, so I stayed put. Once the princess is on her own policy/car, I'll shop around. Maybe AARP will want a nice old couple with no kids!
TMU--true mileage unknown. Sounds like about 500,000
That brings up a question. The odometer on the Lincoln stopped working back in October. I'm going to sell it in a few months but it's going to be TMU which is a big negative.
I've got repair records going back 4 years to when I bought it showing a pretty consistant 900 miles per month. Also have a visit to the shop for attempted repair of the odo with milage and date.
I'm only going to ask $1000 for it which considering it's otherwise pretty decent condition is pretty cheap.
Do you think I'm going to have a problem with buyers?
Normally I wouldn't touch a TMU car but that's just me.
If you have invoices in sequence showing miles going up in chronological order than you can back up your story, no problem. I rather doubt at the $1000 price point that anyone is going to be too fussy about this.
As of 6:30 am the Blizzard warning has ended, but it's still snowing. Burlington, Vermont reported 4th largest snow event on record. About 26" of snow measured, so far. I don't know how they measured it since there were 40+ mph winds. I plowed my driveway about 5 pm last night and it was drifted in an hour later. I'll be busy today digging out.......
I have had GEICO for many years. I went to GEICO when my prior insurer, Farmers, jacked my premium by $1,000, for no reason.
Last year my insurance bill from GEICO was over $2,000. I did some shopping and found a much lower cost with a bit better coverage from the Hartford, $1,400.
I called GEICO to cancel. The guy on the phone asked me to wait a moment. He went off line, returning a few minutes later. He told me GEICO did not want to lose a loyal customer, one with no claims, and offered the same coverage as the Hartford for $950.
It started snowing here about 5PM yesterday and snowed for about 4 hours, leaving about 2"-3" before changing over to rain. It rained and blew hard all night and this morning there is just a thin layer of slush in those areas which still have any snow at all. I understand that inland they got more snow and less rain. But for us here on the coast, all of the week-long hype over this one was pretty much a total swing and miss by the weather entertainers.

Wow, cut it in half just for the asking? You would think my 20 years without a claim or even a parking ticket would matter.

No, that just means you are overdue for an accident

Ouch, driver. If I thought that I was overdue for an accident, I'd give up driving and use Uber for the rest of my life. Nah, I enjoy looking for and buying cars too much. What would I do with myself if I gave up driving - visit the casino more often on the bus and spend the rest of my children's money? YOU BET!
I think forecasters over-promise and under-deliver out of fear of litigation. If they under-promise and someone comes to harm, there will no doubt be legal action. It happens out here too, for snow and wind events.
Regarding insurance, I recently read somewhere that rates are inflating for all, due to increased fender benders via distracted driving. No doubt the brave altruistic executive class also needs more bonuses for their self-sacrifice and perseverance.
...all of the week-long hype over this one was pretty much a total swing and miss by the weather entertainers.
It's clear that we also have fake weather now. I decided a few years back when the local stations started over emphasizing slight chances of snow or sleet that they were doing it for the ratings and advertising rate increases it brings when they use scare tactics.
@driver100, We did hit head to head, although it was perpendicular. I was headed north on I-95, they were headed east.

Actually, if two equal mass vehicles meet head on at 70 mph each, it's the same as hitting a solid wall at 70 mph. Each vehicle would stop within a short distance determined by the amount of crush in the front end.
If two vehicles of dissimilar mass meet, the lesser one will not only come to 0 mph from 70 but will end up being accelerated backwards as a result of the difference in mass. The vehicle of greater mass would not completely reach 0 mph so its deceleration from 70 would be less.
The folks that like to find causes to push should look for a tax on heavier vehicles to help pay for the extra damage they exert on the lighter vehicles and occupants during a collision. We could call it the vehicular excess mass tax.
Another cause would be the unfair responsibility for someone driving a Kia Rio being responsible for the damage to someone driving a car costing $100,000 or more. If someone else chooses to drive a conspicuous car, why should other drivers be responsible for the damage. This speaks to the need for no fault insurance where each driver is insuring their own vehicle.
A positive benefit from the storm's path having shifted north is that my son flew into DC early this morning and was able to check into their hotel room close to Reagan early rather than having to leave their luggage while they went around playing tourist. The cancellations yesterday due to flights dropped and the storm keeping people away left their room occupied last night. A night benefit for my son but not so good for the balance sheet of the motel due to unfilled rooms last night.
'Ya know....having been through the automobile mediation process previously, I'm amazed that people who are supposed to work through it are still employed....meaning both Cadillac Customer Service Reps and BBB Autoline Reps.
Just got a call from BBB. They somehow do not have the service order write ups that I sent to them, not once, but twice. So, I sent them again (they refuse to use unalrterable PDF files, and have a hard requirement to use antiquated faxes). In addition, the phone conversations with the BBB autoline personnel really make me think I'm speaking to them in Chinese. They certainly don't know the basics of what they're looking at (say, the time a car was checked in for service, and the time it was checked out as being "repaired").
The "new" mediator employed by both the BBB with the approval of Cadillac apparently can't read a service bulletin, nor a service write up by the dealership. BBB says the mediator doesn't understand the amount of time the car has been in the service dept. How difficult can this be? It's the delta between when the car was checked into the dealership, and the date the car was returned as "repaired". Tried to explain this simple concept to the BBB Rep who, as mentioned, acts like I'm speaking Chinese.
If the BBB rep doesn't understand the Cadillac service paperwork , and the mediator doesn't understand the paperwork, how likely is it that I'll receive a fair hearing?
How inept can Cadillac and their representatives in this matter possibly be? It's no wonder they can't do something as simple as route a wiring harness correctly.

FYI. For those of you who don't post on the car buyers anonymous forum where Marco usually posts, he is legally blind and uses voice to text to post, so some of his posts will have funny spelling, etc. He is a true car lover though and a welcome addition here.

They made NO indication that the Rain/Snow line would be even remotely close to us. I live approximately 5 - 6 miles from the water (Long Island Sound). They predicted 12" to 18" of snow on Sunday night, then upped it to 12" to 20" on Monday night. We got about 8" of snow. My parents who live in NY, much further inland got hammered.
I'm glad @oldfarmer50 & @sb55 are doing ok. This snow storm and cold temperatures should make for a nice, spring ski season.

About snow storms: Wasn't it in Atlanta a few years ago when they under forecasted the weather, and that caused total chaos.........so now they would rather err on the side of over blowing the whole thing. Ratings don't hurt either as people tune in to see what is going on.
About GG and BBB and CTS:How incompetent can the can these people be? I really think the AGs office should know about this...though I don't know if they would be much help. I am sure the whole process is designed so you will just give up and go quietly into the sunset.
On another topic I got a warning indicator that tire pressure was low......and it shows the tire pressure for each tire. I am pretty sure the 2015 E400 didn't have that, but the 2014 C250 certainly has it. Nice feature, you know how much air is actually in each tire.
I know, I know, Mikes car probably also tells you the temperature of the air, what percentage is nitro, how many mm's of tread are left, and how many more miles the tire will go, and whether it needs cleaning or not.
I would put together a blustering, highly detailed, report to send to the AG. Something like this, you need the have a basic level of competence.
At least GG should be ok, having perfect documentation, and ability to explain the timeline, and solid understanding of the regs. Even the dope arbitrator should be able to follow along!
I would also tape the proceedings for additional proof for the AG. Heck, could invite someone from the office to sit in, and get a first hand view.

I think a reporter from TV or newspaper would be good too! In fact, I think they would like to follow this story from this point forward............they won't believe how incompetent these morons are. I guess it took them a long time to find a moron arbitrator who doesn't understand anything pertaining to the subject they are supposed to be arbitrating.

Stick....good idea about recording. Depending how the hearing goes, I'm planning to sending all documents to the Ohio AG.

I thought he just had a rouge spell checker like me that sometimes does evil to my posts.

Who is the real President of the United States (POTUS)?
You have 24 hours to come up with the correct answer or you will be ignored as an imposter!
FDR....right?

I was headed north on I-95, they were headed east.

It's kind of counter intuitive, but the longer you stay with an auto insurance carrier, the more likely your rates will go up, everything else being equal.
Just like the cable company or Sirius, you have to tell them you are leaving to get a better price.

It's where I live that is the problem. The Broward and Miami-Dade County area is a true misery for auto premiums.

I'd shop around but I still have a home/farm bundle with them and since my older son wants to try his hand at the business I have to keep that for at least one more year.

Don't feel bad, I don't ski either, never could afford it....talk about expensive sports. And you have to stay at expensive lodges and have the latest equipment and clothes :@

I guess it depends on your perspective. Two years ago it was $450 per car.

Obviously, it pays to shop around a bit.

Regarding insurance, I recently read somewhere that rates are inflating for all, due to increased fender benders via distracted driving. No doubt the brave altruistic executive class also needs more bonuses for their self-sacrifice and perseverance.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
If two vehicles of dissimilar mass meet, the lesser one will not only come to 0 mph from 70 but will end up being accelerated backwards as a result of the difference in mass.

Un-freaking-believable!

About GG and BBB and CTS:How incompetent can the can these people be? I really think the AGs office should know about this...though I don't know if they would be much help. I am sure the whole process is designed so you will just give up and go quietly into the sunset.

I know, I know, Mikes car probably also tells you the temperature of the air, what percentage is nitro, how many mm's of tread are left, and how many more miles the tire will go, and whether it needs cleaning or not.
