I confirm the MF and residual.

However, when I plug in your MSRP and Adjusted Cap Cost, I get a pre-tax payment of $435.30/mo

Cash Down: $1,639.40 (covers fees + first payment)

Cost: $711.75/month


When I run this myself using the Edmunds tool, I get about $685/month. Did I miss something, or does their calculation look right?

I'm getting $647.06/mo pre-tax; with 10% tax (ouch!), that number jumps to $711.77. Pretty much in-line with the dealer quote.

They want to cut a check for the remaining payments ($4394.50) in lieu of giving me a trade in to reduce that. I haven't really negotiated yet, that's just the starting price they gave me. I just wanted to understand how they got to the monthly before I get back to them.

Make sure they are using the base MF on you; keep an eye on all parts of the deal.

Can't tell you if the negotiated price is good or not - not my forte.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm in South Florida. On their computer workout sheet, the trade in was reflected as a cap reduction. I confirmed the MF and Residual. I used a online lease calculator and my numbers were of by 15 or so a month compared to theirs using the same figures. Don't know if I was doing something wrong.

We don't recommend using trade equity as a cap cost reduction - if the vehicle is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

Could be a fee hidden in the paperwork that is causing the difference in payments - about $500 or so total if the delta is $15/mo.

We do not recommend making a down payment on a lease; if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

With your numbers, subtracting the down payment, I get a payment of $521.21. $5000 down / 36 months = $139/mo, so the net payment is $382.21/mo,or very close to your dealer quote.

Hi Michael, thank you for your response. I'll probably end-up putting at least $2500 down. Understood about the loss in case of theft. Willing to take that chance. Prefer monthly payments below $500/mo.

On a side note, are the residuals on 2016s MDX models any different for the same AWD-Tech trim? That being 60%? Thanks again.

Click on your member name to go to your home screen..

Then, click on the silhouette of head/shoulders on upper right hand corner and choose, EDIT PROFILE.

I'm sorry, did the MF just jump from .0005 to .00167? I was under the impression that .0005 was good until the end of April for top-tier credit ratings. That's a jump from 1.2% interest rate to 3.84%, translating to a monthly payment increase of roughly $82/month in my case. I may have to look at other models, namely Buick Enclave which offer much better interest rates.

When negotiating the selling price does that include the acquisition fee?  I remember my last lease I negotiated a selling price.  They listed that under "agreed upon value of the vehicle". But under gross capitalized cost they listed the price agreed upon  plus the acquisition fee.  Is this because I wanted minimum drive off so they rolled it in? 


Any input on which selling price I'm negotiating?

The acquisition fee is always going to be additional to the selling price you negotiate. You can pay it upfront or roll it in.. they don't care, either way.

You picked the highest trim level, which has the lowest residual. Base AWD has a 36/15 residual of 58% by comparison.

Also, with the 2016's already out, the values of the 2015's will naturally sink.
