MSRP $49,960

selling price $45,850

down Payment $881 (first payment and fees)

Monthly Payment $561.22

Negotiated with 3 dealerships before arriving at the selling price.

Have you all heard about the Nitrogen in the tires? That is a first for me. Yet another line item I am having them delete. I think it was $100 or so. I also had them remove the "just in case you lose your key" fee of $125.

Keep at it! Every $1000 you save reduces your lease payment by about $28/mo.

Gross CAP is the selling price plus all additions (acq.fee, negative equity, stuff bought in the F&I office, accessories, tax in some states).

Net CAP is after all reductions (rebates, equity, downpayments)

You all have been a great help. I am going back tomorrow. I will bring my computer to use my own lease calculator. I'm just saying NO to nitrogen, fake loss keys, extended warranty on a lease, interior protectant, etc.
I will be getting a line by line breakdown. If I don't get that I am walking away. I'll try again when the 2016's come out. I would LOVE pearl with ebony interior.

Are Data dots just another fluff item that should be deleted? Also, I read on here awhile ago that document fees can be negotiated out. Is that true? Mine are $163

I am using the lease calculator provided on this thread. http://www.leaseguide.com/calc/ Is that sufficient when going in? After I get my numbers line by line, I am going to use that calculator to confirm or dispute.

It's been stated, "Don't negotiate on payment - understand that there are several moving parts to a lease and the dealer can fudge the numbers to give you a payment you like - but still make money on the transaction." If I go for a 36 month lease with zero due at signing and 35 remaining payments, then it would appear to me there is only one number, the monthly payment. I don't see how that can be manipulated, nor why it would matter what goes into making that number. Allthough it might be interesting how they arrived at the number, by getting it down to just that one number it is easy to compare offers from different dealers. I'll grant that if there is a trade in involved, then you'd want to know what they are offering so that you can decide whether to sell your current vehicle elsewhere, but I don't believe it is a good idea to put money down (either as a trade in or cash) on a lease in case the car is stolen or totaled, so the exception for a trade in would not apply to me. Whichever dealer comes up with the lowest payment for the same vehicle on these terms is the one I want to go with. Please poke holes in this logic.

If you only focus on the payment, you won't really know if you are getting the base MF in the deal. Or if the selling price could have been lower - every $1000 off the selling price equates to about $28/mo off the monthly payment.

Illinois just changed the laws effective 1/1/15, so now only the monthly lease payment is subject to tax.

The numbers I give below are all pre-tax:

Tech+Ent - $502.16 for 36/10; $516.10 for 36/12

Adv+Ent - $595.72 for 36/10; $611.40 for 36/12

Tech - $500.63 for 36/10; $514.16 for 36/12

I suspect there are additional charges being added into the dealer offer price that accounts for the difference in the payment. Ask them for the net cap cost and make sure you understand how the dealer got from the offer price to the net cap cost - lots of opportunities for the dealer to pad those numbers.

I have been quoted a residual and MF of 59% and .00064

MSRP $43,685 x Residual (59%) = RV $25,774.
Take Offer price ($40,685) less $26,363 (RV $25,774 + Doc Fees $589) = $15,505.85
Divide $15,505.85/36 months = $430.72

Offer from dealer (including delivery) $40,685 + Doc Fee $589 + RV $25,774 all divided by the MF .00064 = $42.91

So if I pay tag fees etc up front, should my payment BEFORE tax be $473.63? I am being quoted $507/month pre tax.

From Missouri, looking to lease a 2015 MDX AWD with tech. 36mo/10k. Have a trade in with around 3k in negative equity but will put $4,500 to offset that. What should my payment be? MSRP is $49,960. Would like to get that lowered to around $47,000 of course. Thanks!

My number is quite close to yours at $473.46/mo.

You should ask the dealer for the net cap cost in their calculations - I suspect it's different than the offer price + doc fees. Ask them how they calculated the net cap cost - I don't see the acquisition fee mentioned; is it being rolled in somehow?

We are now closer...two dealers bid and the low started at $539/m, now they are $496/m, so i have a little more work to do.

A question - paying the first month up front. How should that be factored into the calculation? To me it doesnt matter, but i think it is advantaging them.

Unless there is a promotion to waive the first payment, it will be due at lease signing.

just leased a 2015, and sh-awd dropped to 42K along with a money factor of .00069 at 10K/year with a standard 59% residual plus 3% due to 10K lease.

I would add that the cap cost reduction was 3K. with tax in MA payment comes out to 384.22 a month.

Looks like your Gross CAP cost includes the negative equity from your current vehicle.. Looks like a bad deal.. and, maybe, a lot of hidden charges in there.. I'd want every number spelled out.

I just got off the phone with the finance manager and he said he could get that payment down to $658. When I put the numbers in the lease calculator adding the $2000 negative equity and it came up with $588. He said there was no way he could to that payment. I just need to know what my payment should look like. Is $658 still too high?

you are not getting a good deal. I would walk away. I just got a 2015 SH - AWD and with the 2016's just coming out they are dropping the MSRP across multiple dealerships by about 4K. You should not have a lease payment at 10K higher than 385 with state tax included if you put down a cap cost reduction of 3K. That's what i got. Assuming you qualify for the super preferred and therefore get the money factor of .00069 as of last week. fido should be 710 plus for super preferred.

What is the MF for 39m (AWD with Tech & Ent.). Thanks!

I see no information that confirms or refutes the restriction on the lease length to qualify for the .00069 MF.

Another dealer confirmed that MF is higher for a 39m lease. I didn't get the exact MF so cannot post that here but it is higher for 39m versus 36m.

I get $430.58/mo before tax, which in Texas is the sales tax applied to the entire selling price.

$455 looks really good by comparison.

if the $420/mo includes taxes, it's a pretty solid deal. Are you asking for 5,000 miles extra per year, or just 5,000 miles total? Either way, you buy them up front at probably .15-.25 per mile.

We'd need to know the MSRP and negotiated selling price to model a payment. Read back the last few pages on this discussion to see what others are paying - also check the "MDX Prices Paid" discussion as well.
