I'm reserving one...but I'm way down the line, I will mail in my reserve in a few days....and as of yesterday they were at 85. So I expect to be around 90 or so.
I want mine Black or Metallic Red, Lux Series, with air suspension and chrome accents, sunroof also!!
Includes the first pictures of inside I have seen that show it opening from the back. Includes a shot with available 3rd row seat, and spare tire (No room at all left with 3rd seat, although I don't plan on getting 3rd seat anyway)
Boy, that spare tire sure is big, I think I rather lay it down, instead of having it vertical like it is in the pics.
"If so, it may be time for an upgrade. Go Cart World in Newnan, Georgia, sells Hummers that are custom-made for pint-size passengers. These hot wheels feature fully independent front and rear suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, AM-FM stereo cassette, transmission (with reverse), adjustable leather seats and full detailing. Only 15 limited editions are available each year. Cost: $30,000."

Before you decide on getting one of these; I strongly recommend going and sitting in one. Sit in all the seats. I now realize that there is absolutely no room in that vehicle. My head was right up against the roof and easily could smack against the side. The back seats must of been designed for either midgets or lying down. For the amount of money that this thing is gonna cost, they should have done a better design job on the interior too; chincy cheap plastic crap everywhere. My impression has changed drastically! I will be waiting for a while and re evaluating the entire Lux- SUV category. Karl
Good one. No, but I was expecting something close to the Tahoe or any other GM product as far as being able to seat people. I thought it looked spacious too; wrong. You really need to go sit in one. The seating is up higher than it looks because of how they mounted the seats. In the MDX they low mount the seats, thus you have have head room. Here, they put the seats up a little higher on the frame than the Tahoe; you lose about four inches of head room and then the sunroof knocks two to three more off of that. I still love the vehicle; but it will have to modified terribly for me to justify its cost. Karl
Well, since I haven't sat in one yet I will have to take your word that headroom is limited. For some that may be a problem, but since I am only about 5'9, the wife is 5'3, and the kids about 2'7 & 3'5 headroom shouldn't be a problem for us.
But yes, I do understand your point, expecting Tahoe like room was not unreasonable.
My hopes are that the H2 has too little headroom for many individuals, that way I can move up higher on the waiting list...lol :-)
Took time at lunch and went to see the H2 in person yesterday. I loved it. It is definitely a wide vehicle, but it looks like a refined H1 in every way. I am 5'10" and had no problem with sitting in the back nor any problems from the drivers or passenger seat. I hate the inside mounted spare (don't think I would want to sit in the third rownext to a huge tire), but they have ways of moving to the rear or even mounting on the roof safari style:-> The interior is 10, no make that 20 times better than the H1. The small block had a lot of room under the hood, so you may see the V-12 show up here in the future.
The fit and finish seemed to be good and the leather (if that matters to you) was very nice for an SUV.
I think GM remained true to the H1, while building a 'civilian' model that will surely gather a small piece of the Lux SUV market for itself.
I have to admit I am not the best one to get ride impressions from. I am used to driving Hummers everyday with either mud filled or chewed up Swampers. I am usually oblivious to how a vehicle rides. That being said, I tried to be aware since I knew I would be asked about the H2. I thought it rode as smooth as any other SUV I have driven lately. I was surprised I didn't notice more road noise or roughness from the relatively large tires. I know the larger tires were a concern for GM early on. I also got positive feedback from everyone that rode with me.
On another note, I am 6'4" and thought the head room was fine with the seat at its lowest adjustment. There wasn't a lot of room to spare but there seemed to be plenty for me to be comfortable.
Since the spare on the H2 SUV is inside, does anyone know where they are going to put the spare on the SUT?
I haven't seen any pictures or anything, to see where the spare is on the SUT.
The SUT actually interests me more than the SUV version, but they say it will be 18 months after the SUV starts shipping before we can expect any SUT's :-(
I asked the guy at Sewell in Dallas and he was under the impression that the SUT was going to be released six months after the SUV. Granted, the sales guys do not always know; but I was surprised by his answer. I still think the best way to deal with these huge spare tires is to have the onstar crew always carry a few and let it be their deal to come put the stupid thing on!!!
Just talked with one Hummer dealer who I won't name (except to say it is NOT Lynch Hummer).
They had a HummerH2 on eBay auctioning the position for it.
It was at $12,000.00 as I viewed the auction. This was in addition to regular MSRP. I don't doubt some will go for that much over MSRP, however I do doubt what this dealer stated in their ad.
1. They stated that their will only be 5,000 H2's produced initially, so not to flood the market.
I do not agree with this, I had heard 20,000 or so. And 5,000 would be far from flooding the market.
2. They stated to expect H2's to be going for 80k + this summer.
Now, I know this is going to be a popular vehicle, but you can buy an H1 for that price! Some will probably go for this.....but not every single one, like they implied!
A seperate auction I saw said that the waiting list for H2's was filled for 2 years!!
That I know must not be the case. Because I know that Lynch Hummer in St. Louis probably has one of the longest waiting list because they are the biggest Hummer dealer.
When I inquired to them what the wait period was for anyone looking to join their waiting list, I was told that I could recieve mine around this fall.....thats hardly 2 years!
What do you guys think? Am I wrong with my beliefs? Any comments, etc..?
I am not a Hummer Dealer, nor do I claim to be fully in the know; but it does sound like quite a bit of hype to get that auction rolling!
Hopefully, this aution-er knows more than the rest of us and the H2s will be selling for approximately $30K over MSRP. I find it hard to believe, but be assured I will turn mine over for that kind of dough!
Speaking of which, isn't it about time that GM release official pricing on the H2? Anyone know that time frame?
OFFICIAL NOTICE: My spot is officially for sale, $30K! Any takers???
For you folks that cannot afford a H2 there is a planned H3 based on Chevy S10 truck for 2004. See drawing in path attached from Popular Mechanics website. Cheaper and more sensible. Any smaller and we are talking Suzuki Samurai or Wrangler.
DETROIT - General Motors' HUMMER Division today announced introductory pricing for the H2, the all-new full-size sport-utility vehicle. The vehicles are expected to be in showrooms this July.
Marc Hernandez, HUMMER H2 marketing director, said pricing will begin at $48,800 manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP), including destination charges.
"Consumers shopping for the ultimate sport-utility vehicle will see that our price combined with our standout off-road performance and authentic HUMMER styling is very competitive," Hernandez said.
The H2 is powered by a Vortec 6000 6.0-liter V8 engine that generates 316 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque. Standard equipment includes:
Full-time 4-wheel drive
5-link variable-rate coil spring rear suspension
Independent torsion bar with monotube gas shocks and stabilizer bar front suspension
Locking rear differential
4-wheel disc ABS brakes
BF Goodrich 35" all-terrain tires, the largest on any GM vehicle
17 x 8/5 cast aluminum wheels
Single-wheel traction control
Premium Bose 9-speaker sound system
Heavy-duty trailering equipment
Front winch receiver
Remote keyless entry
Cruise control
OnStar
Power driver and passenger seats
Dual zone climate-control Two option packages will be offered with the H2. Priced at $2,575, the Lux Series includes AM/FM radio with 6-disc CD changer, heated leather front seats, chrome appearance package, tubular assist steps, and custom carpet floor mats. The Adventure Series, priced at $2,215, includes an air suspension package, brush guard, first aid kit, tool kit and portable lamp, 6-disc CD changer, roof rack crossbars, and custom carpet floor mats.
Additional vehicle options include wrap around brush grille guard, off-road roof spotlamps, off-road grille guard spotlamps, tubular tail lamp covers, hard cargo carrier, removable U-steps, tubular assist steps, and custom carpet floor mats and cargo mat, all of which are available at the time of purchase.
A three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty is standard and includes HUMMER 24-hour Roadside Assistance.
H2 will be sold exclusively in the United States and Canada. Seven colors including pewter metallic, black, yellow, sage green metallic, white, sunset orange metallic, and red metallic will be available.
If they plan on making a bunch (30-40k a year) of these; then why the hell would you overpay! Are these people in that desperate a need to make up for an overall lack in their personality or physicality????
I don't think there is any need for psychoanalysis...these people are clearly insane, or don't care about the value of their dollar. If they want to blow an additional 15k on a 45k+ vehicle, and look even more stupid than the ones who over-paid for the New Beetle or the PT Cruiser when they first came out, then more power to them! I just wish they'd float some of that cash my way. I'd put it to much better use, and they could still get their H2 eventually. Oh, the price of vanity and being the first kid on the block...
Funny how that works. My chosen mount, the M-B Geleandewagen, was in the same type of limelight over the last six months. Dealers were trying to add 10-15k to the 73k price tag. From what I can tell, very few were succesful in getting the premium. They still are trying to get said premiums and nobody wants to pay. Inevitably they do sell for MSRP, which by the way nets a healthy profit for all concerned without additional mark-up.
I think you may see a few go over sticker but, as noted earlier this is going to be a fairly high production vehicle. You would have to be nuts to overpay. Six months after the intro they will be everywhere.
3rd Row Seat $500 6 Disc CD Changer $350 Air Suspension Package (Rear Air Springs, On-Board Air Compressor)$1,025 Brush Guard $525 Chrome Appearance Package $700 First Aid Kit / Super Tool / Mag Light $215 Leather Heated Seats $1,400 Power Skyroof $995 Hard Cargo Carrier $550 Brush Guard-Mounted Off-Road Spotlamps $450 Roof-Mounted Off-Road Spotlamps $950 Tubular Assist Steps $425 Removable U-Steps $450 Roof Rack Crossbows $400 Tubular Tail Lamp Covers $250 Wrap-Around Brush Guard $599 Carpeted Floor Mats $200
The Adventure Series includes the following: Air Suspension Package, Brush Guard, First Aid Kit / Super Tool / Mag Light, Roof Rack Crossbows, 6 DiscCD Changer and Carpeted Floor Mats.
The option packages are priced at $2,215 for the Adv Series and $2,575 for the Lux Series. The option packages offer a $500 discount from purchasing the individual options.

Also FYI, a special perspective from a very important person: "I've seen all the colors ....and here's my opinion: Sage green and orange look damn good on the truck (I can't believe I'm saying this, but they nailed these colors). If I was going to trick up an H2 for on-road use only, I'd go with black (pewter's a close second). If I was out to get eyeballs, yellow is the way to go (....I spotted" .....a "yellow H2 from over 2 miles away)." Until I get to see all the colors (The Pewter I saw was fabulous) I am still leaning toward Husker Red, Yellow, or Orange.
