Wow, $20,549 is a really good price for an EX-L. May I ask if it is a sedan or coupe, automatic or manual? The best I am getting so far is $21,000.

22K for an EX-V6??? Are you sure about this? Please confirm and I'll go get one ASAP!

This is just a pure guess on my part...

But, I bet those prices don't include destination.. or a dealer/doc fee... They could still be very good deals, even with that added, though...

I just went through two months of research for a 2005 EX V6 in NJ. Several of the dealers include the destination fees in their quotes while other do not. The 22,004 from open road does not include the fee. In my experience all the dealers do not provide their doc fees in their quotes. If you ask they will provide. They range from $75 to $198. In NJ we get hit for a 7.50 Tire fee. Add your tax and title, registration (which vary from 55 if you are transferring to 250 if you are getting a new registration, NJ wants you to pay fours years up front) and that should get your price.

I would go for the LX-V6. I have one and I have no regrets. I average about 25 mpg and just recorded 29 mpg on a recent highway trip. You may want to read my post #7952 in this forum for more information. As for resale value, right now it’s about a wash. Another thing to consider in your decision is that the V6 has a timing belt that needs to be replaced at about 105K and the I4 does not. Good Luck.

Just come back from open road. But didn't buy EX-L today. they have only one left, so I probably will buy a few days after they get some more in stock. but I still can give guys some further info. there are a lot of EX-V6 in parking lot. so I think maybe you can get a litter lower price, but not sure about it, because the modle I want it is very hard to get the lower price than the quote. ok, let me tell you what is the other fee you need pay.

    destination: 515.00,
    tax: 6% in NJ
    reg:242.
    doc: 198.
    tire fee:7.5
based on this, the EX-L will be $22775.34.

    ok, hope this help.

will call them tomorrow. report again after bought.

15% markup is fine if it's a 99 cent bag of MMs. but 15% on a $30,000 car is $4500. what makes u think u deserve that? everytime i have bought a new car, the salesman was either an idiot or knew as much as I did(and trust me, I’m no Einstein when it comes to cars).

you guys should be paid according to value creation. ever hear of added value? well, what value are you adding? I usually spend abt 1 hr of the dealers time test driving the car and filling out forms and most of the tht is due to all the waiting the dealer has me do). For that, I feel you guys deserve $100-$200 tops...and that’s me being gracious. so in my case, do u really think u deserve $4500 per hr???

anyway this is all moot since the internet is compressing artificially high commissions. the very fact we are having this conversation highlights the fact tht there were pricing inefficiencies based on information. you don't see the price of oil or caviar coming down due to the internet now do you? I'll pay a markup when i eat at a restaurant b/c I don't want to bother cooking that night and b/c I cannot cook food as tasty---the restaurant I eat at deserves the markup b/c it is creating value for me....

you're right. thought the LX had it since the camry LE does(the other car i was considering). oh well, my bad.

I'm going to check out Honda's 36 month lease deal on an EX coupe w leather. Honda's finance arm is offering a $1449 Cap Reduction. What I don't quite understand is....If MSRP is $25,300 and people are actually paying $23,300...is it a legitimate offer to offer $23,300 and expect to get the additional Cap Reduction of Honda's Finance arm on top of that? In another words a net cost of $21,850 not including tax, license etc.?

Dealer here in West Palm Beach, Fl 33414 gave me a price of $18,100 + 6% tax & tag..no dealer fees or other charges.. it seems every dealer down here has a dealer fee of $300-500 which I feel is a rip off .. they wont take it off as they say if they charge one person they have to charge every one or the state will fine them..?? this dealer did not have a fee which I feel is unusual... is this a decent price considering the times or can I do better... I have owned Honda's in the past.. 1st new one 1984 LX, then a 1988 LX, a 1991 Wagon then a 1998 EX-6 Cylinder..+ 3 or 4 Honda cycles..I have always found that Honda's quality can't be beat regardless of price.. and when it comes time to sell you can always find a buyer..

    Thanks

They are dealing the LXs right now.

My auto lx was 17190+fees. After seeing all the transmission issues, I now wish I bought the manual. But, hey, Carmax will give ms more than I paid for it even after taxes.

Those are incredible prices, the lowest I could get for Accord LX 4dr 4cyl 5 speed
was $17000 in Chicago, with a $55 doc fee. Great deal.
  • dealneederdealneeder Member Posts: 19
I thought NJ reg and title were 242 total. Am I incorrect? I was quoted the same base price and fees from Open Road, but with 242 instead of 55, and 55 sounds low.

    RE:

    Selling price (inc'l dest) $22,519 EX-V6 Accord 4dr Auto
    tax $1,351
    reg & doc fees 55+198 = $253
Tire Tax: $8 (only in NJ, here they nickel and dime us to death)
    Total was $24,131

Which dealer in West Palm Beach?
Any idea what they want for an EX 4 cylinder automatic?

Just got the car.Unfortunately, ddidn't get the lower price than quote. anyway, it's a good price already. But, most of the bad thing is if you want to get finance from them, you need pay attention to some import thing, otherwise, your lower price will be all gone. make sure the rate the amont you want to finance, then go back home, find the financing calculator online, compare the month payment.....
I just got the FALSE price, I don't believe this comes from the reckless. this kind of situation happened many times. So CHeck it carefuly. Don't put your trust on some wrong person.

I've had a change in plans, and I will probably purchase a 2005 EXV6 this weekend. (I had planned to wait until December and get a 2006.)
So are the great deals from Honda still in effect? Are the dealers still getting any money from Honda?
Also, I saw a EXV6ULEV and an EXV6AT listed at a local dealer. What's the difference?

The best price I have got offered on a Accord EX-V6 is 23,424. How are you guys getting these prices of 22,500? I have not found one person willing to budge. Do you call or do you e-mail? Could you post what you say or how you negotiate? Maybe drop a copy of your e-mail to the dealer, do you talk to the internet manager? Thanks....
  • saaddssaadds Member Posts: 11
I would like to know the answers to your questions also. So far, I've received internet quotes of 24,423.32 and $23,973.32. I've emailed these salesmen and asked for a list of all fees. Aren't these quotes high, especially since this is the end of the 2005 line?
Please help me know how to get a better deal.

"Today, I was quoted 17500$ inculuding destination fee, if I bought it immediatedly...."

    callmejoe-

Actually 17500$ inculuding destination fee is a very good deal. Go to www.openroadhonda.com and get an instant quote online to compare it to what have been quoted already. Also if you go to www.carsdirect.com and enter your zipcode for RI you'll have an idea how much dealers in your area are selling the car for. Use the lowest of your quotes as a bargaining point......Good Luck.

$25,770.59 plus taxes, tag, fees and any options added.

Here is what a salesman at Steve Lucas Honda in Jacksonville, FL sent me:

Your drive out figure is $26,466.49 including $1536.67 in taxes, 158.50 for tag transfer and state disposal fees and $798 dealer doc fees.

So your total out of pocket is $898.51 less than the original MSRP of the car.

I'm supposed to deal with these numbers? So do I just ignore this guy, or do I email him back with a "You've got to be kidding me???"
These people will negotiate online quotes, right?

Openroadhonda.com in NJ does an online quote for the accord sedan ex-v6, currently at 22004 w/o destination. DCH nearby is offering similar pricing (22103). DCH has lower doc fees, I believe, by a hundred bucks, which means the OTD is nearly identical. That said, I've had no experience with them personally beyond emails and a call or two.

Right now in our area (Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina) you can buy Accords for invoice, then subtract the dealer cash if you work your negotiations correctly.

Dealer cash is as follows on Accords:

    4-Door, 4-Cylinder Sedans = $750.00
    4-Door, V6 & Hybrid Sedans = $1,250
    2-Door Models (All 4 & 6 cylinder models) = $1,250

This means you can negotiate up to about $4,500 off the MSRP price of a Honda Accord, depending on the trim and all.

Some dealers are even selling their Accord Hybrids for $1,250 under factory invoice.

Sheesh.... everyone's deals are blowing mine away. I bought an LX 4dr MT a few months ago and paid somwhere around $17500. I needed a car urgently since the old Civic wasn't going to get me through summer... So these prices I am seeing today make me wish that I could have held out for a few months longer.

Just bought my new 2005 Honda Accord LX auto at
    Bethasda, MD.
$17566 (2005 Honda Accord LX Auto, with Splash guard, fender trim, door trim)
    $100 Dealer processing fee
    $515 Dest Charge
    $909 5% MD tax
$210 Tag, Registration, Lien record ...

    OTD: $19,300

Those "splash guards, fender trim ..." were dealer add-on items, they won't
remove those items unless I can wait for a week when new inventory comes
in. (Then they will not add those "add-on" to the new car)
I just become exausted after a whole afternoon's talk and don't want to wait
another week, so I reached above deal.
Anyway, I am happy with my car now!
Tips: The quotes you get from dealers don't have "add-on" , but when you get
there, the chances are all their inventories have the "add-on" already. Be prepared!
    Good luck!

Purchased a Graphite Pearl EX V6 Sedan this weekend in Deland (just outside of Orlando) for 24726 OTD.

    22723 vehicle price
    1418 tax (orange county)
    499 dealer fee
    86 tag & FL tire/batt fee

    24726 OTD

As mentioned earlier on this board, if a FL dealer charges a dealer fee, they must charge the same fee to every customer. But, most are willing to make up the difference by adjusting the price of the vehicle. I managed to get the best deal by going 45 min outside of Orlando. Did all negotiating via email & phone. Salesman faxed P.O. to my office, I confirmed all figures, then signed the paperwork the following day at the dealership. Great experience - Painless.

Thanks to everyone for your posts. Couldn't have done it without you.

Looking for price quotes on adding leather to an LX. Got this response from one dealer in NC:

Leather is not a factory option on the LX. We no longer add after market leather to cars that have side air bags. SSRS lights routinely come on when adding after market leather to cars with side air bags. When this light comes on it means there is a problem with the side air bag system. We just don't feel comfortable adding any thing after market to a car that might interfere with the safety system. Let me know.

Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks for your help.

I just bought an Accord in Wilow Grove (45 min north of Philadelphia),Pennsylvania.

    Dealership : Sussman Honda
2005 Accord, 4 door, 4 cyl, Auto Trans, EX-L, with Navigation.
    Silver with Black Leather
    8 miles on odometer

    Sale price(including destination charge) : $22,400.00
    6% PA sales tax : $1344.00
    Title/Lien, Registration : $123.50

I did not get any other additional accessories or services.

I do know that there are many people here who would/could have gotten a better deal than what I had achieved. However, with my limited free time for car shopping, combined with my lack of negociating talent, it was about the best I could manage.

It took me two trips to the dealer and about 6 phone calls...mostly friendly conversation.

My most potent weapon was the information I gathered right here.
    For that, I thank you.

And best of all, I love my new car. It is such a quantum jump compare to my previous car...1994 Geo Prizm with over 235,000 miles :)

    Sincerely...and Thank you again.

I am going to move to the Maryland area soon. Please send me the info for the dealer you got your car from.

What in your opinion will be a good OTD price for this car.
    I will appreciate your reply.

OpenRoadHonda instant Quote does have unbelievable prices but you have to be very careful with obtaining price quote on the phone/online without have a specfic stock number. Without having a specfic vehicle info, you don't know what options or dealer prep options have been added. Because of the high markup in option and accessories, a general quote only on model and trim level is not sufficient.

Just from my experience, I've contacted OpenRoad for a quote on an 05 EX-L and it came back with $20,500 (rounded to whole number). To me, that's a very good price because the best deal I got for someone within the past few days was almost $1000 more. When I email OpenRoad back with the specific questions on dealer fees and options, no response. Meanwhile, they contacted me within 30 minutes when I first submited a request for quote (phone and email)

I think $2K below invoice is very good already. I don't think too many other dealers can beat that. When you stated that there are many people who could/would have gotten a better deal, I don't think so. Remember, someone could get a quote from a dealer that may look better than yours, until they actually purchase the vehicle, it's just a quote and there are so many variables that the dealer can play with to change the numbers around. For your purchase without any dealers add-ons, it's a great price.. Enjoy your purchase and new car.
  • saaddssaadds Member Posts: 11
Did you Accord have any added options? The colors I want all have added options. So now I'm not sure what would be a decent price.
  • outfortloutfortl Member Posts: 4
I have been quoted a OTD price of $24,400 for accord sedan 4cyl, leather with navigation.

Please let me know your views on this price. Is it too much at this time of the year? Is there anyone out who got the same model in MD since I will be moving there shortly.? This price if in North Carolina with 3% tax.
I will appreciate the your opinion.

  • richards38richards38 Member Posts: 606
Accords are priced by model without options except those added by dealers. It's an annoying, common practice for a dealer to add useless junk like mud flaps, door edge and wheel opening protector strips, VIN etching on the windows, etc. to pack the price, and you shouldn't fall for it.

All the foregoing stuff is nearly without cost to the dealer, so you should be able to negotiate those add-ons away when you make your deal.

At this point, if you can't buy the car (with or without added junk) for at least $1,200 to $1,600 under the invoice price, you're better off waiting for an '06 Accord that will be a better car that will likely be available for $200 to $400 over invoice on introduction in just a few weeks...........Richard

    Hi Guys,

Quick question....does one need to have an address in another state for buying a car? I mean, can I simply drive to another state and buy a car even if I don`t have a mailing address in that state.

    Thanks
  • saaddssaadds Member Posts: 11
Thanks for the info, Richard. Could you explain why a dealer would sell an Accord for $1600 below invoice? (I know they are getting $1250 from Honda Corp.) I was going to offer $750 below invoice, but now I'll go more.
    The internet offer was $24,423.
This salesman has been up-front with everything. (We bought a 2001 Civic from him.)
