    I think yours was a type, $18,900.

That's w/ destination, no TTL or anything else.

I was hoping to get my accord at around 18400-18500 w/ destination no TTL, which doesn't seem to be an outrageous price looking at what other people are getting it for.

Are you also in the same situation as i am?

Thanks for the info. Do you think there is a real money advantage talking with the internet sales folks in Memphis (Dobbs, Wolfchase Honda) vs. just going out and talking with a sales guy? I have bought a Honda from one of the guys at Wolfchase (he was at Dobbs on CP when I bought the car). And I know a guy at Dobbs on Mendenhall that I bought my van from 3 years ago. I have a trade I prefer to do as well ('98 Accord EX-L 4cyl).

    Thanks for any additonal opinion/info.
  • louisnlouisn Member Posts: 110
I had a trade so I talked to the Internet sales guy at Wolfchase then drove over there so they could appraise my trade. If you have a trade they have to see it. They made a fair offer but I wasn't ready. My guy at Wolfchase seemed to be impressed that I knew about the incentives and the selling prices--tell them you know they are selling well under invoice. I got 1000 off the invoice and they gave edmunds value on my car w/o any bargaining at all. They actually had the Edmunds page printed out. I showed them my Edmunds copy and they were identical. I bet they offer you invoice minus 750 and give you Edmunds trade-in value on the trade. Seems Edmunds is the true barometer right now although Edmunds shows the true market value of a new Accord right at invoice which we know is TOO high. Obviously some are paying well over invoice to get that true market value average.

Quoted 24,200 before tax, title and license. Is that a good deal. I am looking for under 24,000--is that possible?

    Thanks for your help.

I'd like to know how you got your car for $21,450 OTD. Was it leather?

My car is a EX-L Coupe with Factory Tinted windows as the only added option.

Before tax+fees in California, the price I paid was $21,558.93. OTD is $23,600.
  • ramarama Member Posts: 10
Looking back, my post is misleading

the last part of it reads....
(TTL not included when giving OTD prices for that reason)

the price was before TTL, I was trying to indicate there was no benefit to giving an OTD price because 1) I don't know what the TTL is as I live in another state and have a couple of weeks before I have to title it and pay tax, and 2) if you are a Ga. resident it will be different anyway.

    Sorry for any confusion
$21,450 was a good price for EX-L, AT, 4 dr, with pinstripes and mudflaps
  • rliu818rliu818 Member Posts: 19
    Oh i see sorry.

Looks like we both got great deals then. =) The car I got had dealer installed tint so they charged a little more for that.

    So the cost was $21,600?
  • kw_dakw_da Member Posts: 76
    Thanks,

It was a typo - I'm thinking about getting in the market. I'm in LA area - it appears that 1,000 to 1,500 below invoice would be a good price ... at least looking at the other postings.

What did you trade-in? Did you get edmunds trade-in value?
  • bye98civicbye98civic Member Posts: 4
    Louisn

traded in a 98 civic, trade in value was between 4300 and 5000, i looked back at my papers i got it up to 4933.. i intend to put more money down though to lessen my payments.. plus i hvae no credit history so the interest rate for me is not great. but i can live with the payments..

I'm having trouble understanding new vs used prices for a 2006 Accord. Edmunds gives a TMV price of about $21,500 for a new EX 4-door, 4 cyl AT, with no options. Right around invoice.

Edmunds doesn't yet list used prices for 2006 Accords. Kelley Blue Book prices the same 2006 Accord, Used with 10,000 miles, from a private party, for $22,040 in "Excellent" condition, $20,760 in "Good" condition.

Edmunds' True Cost to Own (TCO) on the 2006 Accord includes first year depreciation of $3,254, which suggests the used price for this 2006 model should be more like $18,300.

Is the KBB pricing wrong? Is the TCO depreciation too high? Any insights would be appreciated.
  • louisnlouisn Member Posts: 110
Poster on this forum are paying well under invoice for accords while some folks still pay MSRP. The Edmunds TMV is an average price. People on this board who are getting the deals are probably the exception. Many pay much more. The KBB used car value is high but some uninformed buyers probably think that a used Accord with low milieage is a deal just under the original MSRP. I think Edmunds is accurate. In fact a dealer pulled up Edmunds on his computer to value my trade-in. My opinion.

Its the main reason why you shouldn't buy a used Honda less than three years old. Most people don't get great deals when they buy their car, so if they paid 25K for what you can get now for 21K, even used they're going to be asking 22K. They figure you're getting a discount since its less than they (over)paid. Even though you could buy new for less than they're asking.

So don't count on getting some low price on a one year old Honda. It rarely happens. Shop smart, get a great price using everyone's examples as a guide, and buy new for less than used.

I am in Philly. Just get a quote for Accord EX (no leather, no Nav), AT for $20,200 and EX AT with Leather and Nav for $24,813. Those are before TTL.

What do you think? Good or need more work?
  • hostnesshostness Member Posts: 22
I'm in the market for the exact same car. I was wondering how much warranties usually go for?
  • hostnesshostness Member Posts: 22
For those of you who've had experiences with Rock Honda in southern california, when they quote you an internet price w/ the "best deal, no haggle" quote, do you know how willing they are to negotiate (do they even negotiate at all)?

The quote I got was decent $18,450 for a Accord SE auto i4 sedan, but from what I've read on this thread, I feel like I have a little more room to negotiate.

    Am I right?
  • bye98civicbye98civic Member Posts: 4
as per warranties.. they either throw it in with the car or with the monthly payments.. 4 warranty types.. platinum, gold, basic, value.. other than the 7yr 100k and 3yr 36k warranties which include tire/rim, towing, etc... platinum also has lo-jack and life insurance.. gold does not have lo-jack ..and basic has none of the two.. etc... i went with the value and the price differences were very minimal..

if i am wrong.. dont chastise me.. i was just going by what my dealer laid out on the table for me.

as per your 18450.. if you dont have a trade in, they may renegotiate.. if you do, they wont budge unless they are high-volume .. i was lucky to get the price i got with tint, mudguards, edge/wheel trim thrown in..

    A couple of questions . . .
    1) Any idea when the '06 Accords inventories will "run out" at most dealerships? I am betting the rebates will last until they are gone.
    2) Will the refreshed '06 Accord model just go through the '07 model year or will it run through '08?

Anyone with ideas I would appreciate it. I am trying to get convinced to buy a new one now or drive my '98 Accord another year.
  • steelcurtainsteelcurtain Member Posts: 1
If the quote you got for an Accord SE auto i4 sedan is 18,450 then that's well below the estimated true invoice of 18,516. The estimated true invoice as I calculated it is, the invoice - rebates/incentives - hold back. So according to edmunds the invoice price is 19928 (including destination charges)- 750 dealer incentive- 662 (3% for honda) = 18516.

I'm in Western New York and lowest OTD I could get for an LX, SE manual is 20,200.

I got a quote for Accord EX-L from a michigan dealer for:

    Selling Price = $22,490
Out the Door Price = $23,900 (including Tax Title ..)

Let me know if this is a good price or if there is any room for negotiation.

    Thanks.

Bought my 2006 ex sedan cloth auto for 20182 that included destination but no ttl.
  • apollo412apollo412 Member Posts: 5
There is about 1000$ worth of room yet.........most are buying the exl around 21500........
  • pulipuli Member Posts: 1
I am in Northern California and received quotes via email for 4 Dr 4 Cyl EX-L AT, Nav including destination for $23100 and $24000 from 2 different dealers. TTL is extra.

For a V6 with the same specs received the same $25900 from both dealers.

So your number looks very high - remember that Honda is giving incentives to the dealers and they should pass on to you.

I'm getting ready to buy a new accord sedan. would been getting quotes back for a new accord sedan exL 4cyl carbon bronze and black leather has to be that colors. These are coming from the midwest mainly KC area and around. My question is when i find my best price and go to the dealer and get down to the final price would I be crazy to ask if they would go $2000 more for the same car in a v6. So far i'm getting quotes of around 22,400 out the door plus sales tax hoping to do a little better than that. The one I have now is a 99 exv6 and love it but just can't decide if the v6 is worth the extra money. I need to get this done next weekend.

Guesses here are that the 07 model won't be very different from 06. 08 will be a new generation.
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
Someone in your area may be able to give you a better idea about prices but the rule of thumb is that dealers are most willing to deal if they have the exact car on their lot. You may be able to make a better deal on the V6 if they have one in their inventory than an I4 that they have to trade for.... especially if it is at the end of the month.

    Good luck in your search.

I got quote of $18,995 from Internet Sales Manager for Accord LX which was not too bad. The color we like is golden (deseret mist) or white.

We (my wife and I) went to that dealer yesterday at 3:00PM. We tested an LX. The external/internal features are ok, and the handling is good enough. The color was not what we want, but the manager told us he can the right color. He found a new golden color LX with 4100 miles at price of $500 below $18,995. We refused to take that car as a new one. The manager then tried to get one from other dealer. In the mean time, we did some pre-paper work. We need finance, so we ask for the interest rate we can get before we would make decision (I think this request was reasonable). The funny thing was that the dealer would not give the interest rate. At around 6:00PM, we were out of luck. The dealer can't got right color, and we still wouldn't get the interest rate. At this point we headed home. :(

Can anyone clarify if tinted glass is standard in all Accord Sedan models? If not, is this ever a dealer installed option or something the dealer will say is a dealer installed option and will try to charge extra? Honda.com specs doesn't answer this question.

I got my honda accord lx 5AT SE sedan(MSRP=$21,525) yesterday. It was first offered $20,500 higher than the invoice price ($19,478), but then later on said they gonna give it to me for $19,200 as the last price.I still asked to lower the price and was about to leave then I was surprised because I didnt realized that destination charge is included already as he mentioned it so I asked again to lower it and give me $500 discount (as we bought there our first car w/c honda civic 6 yrs ago as loyalty discount) so we could get deal done, at last I got it for $18,500 w/ destination cost included.

paid $18,500+tax and other fees... and bought extended warratny too!

The lowest quote I got from 6 different dealers (internet) is $24,415 + tax & Tag, for a 06 Accord EXL V6 AT, is this a good deal? Please give me a hand!
  • jones17jones17 Member Posts: 7
I was told the dealerships will stop ordering 06'cars when the 07 line comes out, presumably the end of August. The incentives currently in place (750 and 1000 (for the coupe)) are said to expire on 9/05/06. I was told if I purchased by September I should have no problem getting the exact car I want (no problems with inventory). I thought about waiting until after September, but the highest incentive Honda offered in all of 05 was 1200, and that was probably late in the year when you have to be flexible with color, etc. From what the bloggers say, there will be few changes to the 07 (nothing drastic), but lots in 08 (new generation). From what I understand, it is better to by at the end of a generation when all the little problems have been worked out. Thus, now is the best time to buy and this is the best Accord (excluding the 07) to buy.
  • jones17jones17 Member Posts: 7
I have been looking at the Coupe, but the lowest I have gotten is 23,997 and 24,200. From what I know the incentive on the Accord is only 750 vs. 1000 for the Coupe, so that may change the price a bit. Basically, I think a good offer is as follows:

Invoice for the EX-V6-822 (holdback)-750 for the incentive -any other rebates or incentives that I don't know about. You negotiate up from that number. My understanding is dealers like 5% profit, but will settle for 3% because they always have there little fees (doc, prep.) to make up for giving you a decent deal. I will note, however, that I have been very disappointed with the internet quotes. My quotes have ranged from 23,997-25,750 for an EX-V6 Coupe. I have been told it is easier to fax the dealers to get the quotes, and some dealers in my area call you to set up an appointment and all together avoid giving a quote before you get in the showroom.

I haven't tried the fax thing. I will let you know how it goes.

I am looking to buy an accord soon, not sure to buy now or wait until august, for more incentives.I am looking at either the VP or LX.I`ve seen the inventories of the cars the dealers have and it`s 10:1 LX vs VP.Has anyone spoke to a dealer who has a number of VP`s?What are people paying for VP`S?

I've purchased SE auto silver for $18,420 (includes destinaion charge) from Rock Honda in CA. OTD price is $20,118 with OC county tax rate of 7.75%. We did have our own finance from CapitalOne. No trade-in. Overall, it was pleasant experience.
  • hostnesshostness Member Posts: 22
did they throw in anything w/ the car (tint mats wheellocks?)

i'm pretty sure i'm going to buy it for the same price. i'm guessing you got a web quote from them.

did you try negotiating down a little further?

really looking forward to your replies b/c it's pretty much the same situation i'm in. when'd you purchase?

    oh yeah, enjoy your car.
  • fullback100fullback100 Member Posts: 18
The car came with floor/trunk mats but that was all. They didn't budge under $18,400. I did have a feeling I could knock off another $50~$100 but didn't bother. And there were only two of white SEs and one silver left with automatic shifts. I got the last silver one. Tons of EX and EXL on the lot, though. I bought the car today(it was really hot). Only gripe I have is car wash crews at Rock Honda don't do great jobs(looks like $10 car wash) :=) Good luck.
  • hostnesshostness Member Posts: 22
newbie general question, but what happens if they don't have the car on the lot?

i'm looking for my accord in black.
  • fullback100fullback100 Member Posts: 18
They would trade cars between other dealers. They always do that. But you might have more mileages on your odometer unless they put a car on dolly. In latter case you may lose some leverage on buying power because of the delivery cost for dealers. YMMV.
  • stanwelksstanwelks Member Posts: 35
    1. Are the current incentives that are being offered for the Accords because the 07 models are coming out soon? Or is it because the Accords are just not selling well?

    2. Even with the $750 or $1000 incentives, does it make sense to buy a car that within a matter of weeks will have already depreciated by a whole year?
  • louisnlouisn Member Posts: 110
    1. yes- need to clear the lots for 2007's and Camry, #1 competitor, is NEW model.
    2. Yes-if you keep it several years and save 2-3000 over the next years model. After 5 years of depreciation there is only a few thousand difference between a 2006 and a 2007. You can also get a great new car on the cheap. BTW slow depreciation is an Accord trademark. A 28,000 Accord for 24,000 is a deal anytime IMHO.

I paid $23050 out of door..for EX-L only thing extra is Wheel Locks.. In our area I did not find any other dealer with Silvar with Gray interior...
That in includes Tag Tax and Title..

I dont remember the Exact price for the car but Tax is 5% and tag and title is $200....

I got a quote of around $21,500 for an LX V-6 2006 Accord sedan. Is this a good price?
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
I have been shopping for Accord's in the San Antonio area for some time and these are the best prices on the three trim's, all with 4 cylinder automatics:
    VP: $17,509.00
    LX: $19,109.00
    LX SE: $19,878.00
Based on what I have been reading these prices seem to be quite a bit higher than many other's have been paying for these vehicles. Am particularily interested in hearing from anyone who has purchased an Accord in the San Antonio/Austin and Houston area recently to learn what they have paid for their vehicle and which dealership

    Hi everyone,

What kind of finance rates from Honda is everyone getting? I can get %5.25 from a Credit Union in the area for 4 years and %5.5 for 5 years. Is Honda going any lower than that?

    Thanks,
    Robert
  • ravanipravanip Member Posts: 25
They were offering me 5.75% so I denied....
BTW Robert what quote you are getting for your EX-L??

    Thanks
  • robinmdrobinmd Member Posts: 21
    Hey guys,

Here's my prices from dealerships near me in Odenton Maryland for the EX-L 4 cylinder without Navi.

    O'Donnell Honda of Ellicott City - $21,068
Honda of Bowie - $21,569 destination charge included
Ourisman Honda of Laurel - $21,395

None of these include the sales tax, title & tags, and processing fees. Also there's the options they like to add in as well such as wheel locks and the pinstripes.

I used the Internet for quotes and haven't started any negotiations yet.

    Robert

I had absolutely horrible experiences with a few dealers in the SF Bay area. Won't go into names here but suffice to say that there was light at the end of the tunnel. One particular dealer was so shady, despite several assurances that the final price included an option I wanted, at the very end, when I was about to sign the transfer papers, they reneged. I had gone a long way to actually make the deal happen in sweltering heat.

In any case, it turned out for the best because I sent in an internet quote at Autowest and the next day I got a price much lower than I had expected. I would highly recommend this route (I got the idea from another post on this board). Including Destination: 17.6k + TTL.

...and I love my new car :)
  • louisnlouisn Member Posts: 110
Aren't those quotes about $1500 under invoice which is 23,000 including transportation? That's about as low as I've seen.
