What was the invoice including transportation on your new car?
  • ravanipravanip Member Posts: 25
I was getting the best rate from Ellicott City dealer too but they did not have the colour I needed.
Otherwise I think that is the best you will get in my opinion.

Hi Alan - glad to hear you also had a good experience at Autowest. I assume you got the 4-cyl LX Automatic? If so, that seems like a great price. I've had my LX SE for a few weeks now and am really happy with it.
  • robinmdrobinmd Member Posts: 21
Hmmm..invoice is $22,496 so yes the quotes I've received are around the $1500 range. Only one of them included the destination charges, which was Honda of Bowie for $21,569. Trying to get some out-the-door prices now.

I am also planning to purchase the 06 accord VP. There are several dealers in the area willing to go about $17,000
Honda of Shelton quote $17,000 Honda Danbury $16,932 waiting for Brewster Honda for the final number they claim to beat the lowest price. We'll see:)
Let me know what you found.

Does anyone know if there's a good cheap dealer in socal with SE sedans AT i4 in black still available.

I'm sort of getting the feeling that time is running out to grab these cars?
  • rd1688rd1688 Member Posts: 5
Plaza Automall in NY. He won't lower the price for me for the EX-V6 w/nav. I figured he won't give me a good price for the EXL-V6 w/out nav. either. Went to Staten Island Honda and was able to get a good offer, so I will be picking up my EXL-V6 tomorrow...I figured the price is good since its was about $800 below invoice...Good luck on purchasing yours..

Local dealer in NC sends me email stating: For the Accord EX-L V6 your price will be $22,800 plus fees. Price is effective till 7/31/2006.

2 Hours later he emails back and says that price was wrong it should be $24,495 plus fees.

Should I go in and accept the offer to sale at $22,800.00?

    Any thoughts?

    thanks,

Just go to your area dealers' web sites and click "inventory". Just about every dealer lists his inventory on the internet.
  • jack47jack47 Member Posts: 312
In no way is the dealer obligated to sell for his original $22,800 offer. It's merely an offer to sell...not a binding contract as there was no "quid pro quo" guaranteeing that price.

I'm not a lawyer, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn last night.

I'm a new poster (although I have been a lurker for some time). I would like to purchase an Accord SE/AT here in Tampa, FL. I have already asked for Internet quotes from four (4) dealers.

    Dealer #1: $19,528 +TTL
    Dealer #2: $19,428 +TTL OTD: $21,251,73
    Dealer #3: $20,250 +TTL
Dealer #4: Auto-response no quote yet (he is off on Tuesday)

The three dealers called me on the phone in addition to the email quotes, were polite and insisted that this was their best price. So here are my questions. Please be honest.

    1. Are the postings for $18,500 real? If so, it is a So. Cal. thing only?

    2. Dealer #2 OTD price after taxes leaves about $500 for other fees. Are they adding a dealer fee and if so, is that standard? I will ask but from this forum fees should not be that high? Are they negotiable?

    3. I am also looking at the Hyundai Sonata GLS V6/no moonroof. I was quoted $17,100 (after $2,500 rebate) with an OTD of $18,793 which also leaves $500 for fees after tax. In case you were wondering I consider the Sonata V6 is worth comparing to the 4cyl Accord SE, not the Sonata I4. I would really like to purchase an Accord but the dealers will not budge and the Hyundai is about $2,500 less. Is there a reason not to purchase the Sonata? (open ended question, can disregard if too far off topic).

    Thanks in advance.

It seems like a couple of people claim to have bought LX-SE Accords with automatics for approx $18,500 including destination.

This seems mighty doubtfull - the vehicle lists at $23,725. Are people really getting $5,200 off? I noticed one person said the car stickered at 21,000. This would be the VP, which stickers at $21,075, not an LX-SE.
  • jack47jack47 Member Posts: 312
If you go to the Hyundai message board you will see that everyone seems to have nice things to say about the Sonata.

The Hyundai is built almost entirely by robots in a new billion dollar state of the art plant in Alabama.

It has gotten this former Honda and present Camry owner's attention. And, price and warranty wise, it seems like a pretty good deal....or, at least, something worth looking into....although, as a Korean war vet, I really have to think twice before I go for a Korean car.

You have to distinguish between not being willing to deal and not offering a price to you that is unreasonable for the dealer. Dealers are always willing to deal, but you need to do your homework first so you know a good deal when you see one and what is actually a good deal. Get as many quotes as you can online and let the dealers contact you. Don't be in a rush and don't get frustrated (I know it is hard). As for the "best offer" I got a quote (e-mail) for 24,717 and 24,300 (in the dealership with a different salesman) from the same dealership within a few days. That same dealer then agreed to match a quote from another dealer for 23,636. I was originally told that 24,717 was the going rate, competitive, in-line with the competition, best price, etc. My point, go out there are fight for your deal. Also, read carbuyingtips.com. I think it will answer all your questions.

LOL Jack....U are truly an expert! So not even worth a try huh?

They called me back with another offer of $23,700 includes pin striping, mud flaps, Trunk Liner, and wheel locks.

BUT....this new offer is only on a car that has 122 miles on it!

I told them that it "sounds like you are trying to sell me a Used Accord now"! no deal
  • gonein60secgonein60sec Member Posts: 56
Congrats on your purchase. Did they throw in any extras? Also, can you let me know what Staten Island Honda charges for doc/prep fees? What was your OTD price?
  • tasaytasay Member Posts: 36
I think U can do better. Price for SE Auto for 18500 is hard to get except in california or wisconsin. But I think U can get around 18800 or 18900...that's include destination. I purchased SE Manual in Dallas texas for 18200 with wheel lock, mudguard and pinestripe on 7/3. Call Fleet manager of the car dealers to get another quotes....some will give U the best deal. The secret of buying a car and get a good deal is thru fleet manager...not regular saleman. Call around and say this dealer give U this price and ask them to beat it....continue and compare all the dealers.

    Good Luck.

I live on Long Island NY and was quoted the same 17K price by one dealer.I`ve noticed the dealers do not have that many VP`s.They have 10-12 LX`s to every VP.
  • scoobydooxpscoobydooxp Member Posts: 14
Wonder how low they will go on the Accord LX? All the dealers around here seem to have 20-25 LX's on the lot. I was thinking about picking up a Civic LX here in the next week but I may have to wait if the price will go down. Bought the wife a 2005 Accord LX about this time last year and she loves it. It was about $2k cheaper then the 2006 and one of the only 2005 Accords within 250 miles.
  • ambhooambhoo Member Posts: 11
Just signed Accord EX-L V4 for Selling price 22,490 (included in the selling price 1.Day night mirror, 2.mud splash) OTD $24K even. What do you think is it a good price.

Hi!Im here in NJ and purchased the car for $18,500 including destination charge last saturday.I brought a printed quote from openroadhonda.com and showed it to other honda dealers here in NJ if they can beat the price of *$18,337(*exclude destination charge), they said that the price is very impossible, so I told them I have to leave and have to go to open road honda in Edison, NJ if they cant beat the price.I bought my first car from them 5 yrs ago so they should consider my asking price and after few hours of blah blah blah :) I got the deal.

I used Get An Instaquote-very easy to use from openroadhonda.com website and even tried to check their website today and still the price is $18,337*(*destination+other charges) expired on July 22,2006.

I live in CT and did a lot of research on the VP's. No there is not a tremendous inventory but there are still some left. My car which I decided upon is finished being built now and delivered to the dealer within a few days so clearly there are some more coming but yes definitely more LX's available. Don't let them tell you that ou have to pay more if it's not on the lot. Negotiate the price between several dealers. I started with about 6 and then narrowed it to 3 and through e-mail and phone lowered the price. 1 day of time and lots of savings. My price for the car was $16,692 plus destination and tax from Brewster honda. I think it is a good price and goes to show you can save a lot if you spend a bit of time and patience.
    Good luck!

SI Honda is ok to deal with, I bought a Pilot last year and an Accord in May of this year.

Like most dealers, they try to get as much as they can out of you. Once you make it clear you know about the incentives, they will deal.

On the Accord in May, they gave me the whole $750 incentive, and most of the holdback. I paid $20,300 for an EX.

Just watch the bill of sale, they try to sneak in an additional destination and prep charge, it's preprinted on the form.
  • normkolnormkol Member Posts: 135
When I bought my Accord there in May, there were no doc/prep fees.

Accords are very competitive, and they are willing to deal. If you were buying a Civic, they wouldn't be so accomodating.

i bought my vp including dest at nanuet for 16,760. this was on 6/29. they were very very courteous and professional, tho my experience with most have been good. these guys did not try to push addons. i truly enjoyed the experience - no hassles at all. i think they had at least 7-8 more automatics. if the factory cash is still good, they should be able to match this px. good luck.
  • hondachic82hondachic82 Member Posts: 1
I bought my car 6/30/06 and I paid $16,371 including dest and doc fees- for my Accord VP manual in silver at AutoFair Honda in Manchester NH. I had to wait a couple of days for it to come in- they had 2 more on order. Most dealers don't have a whole lot in stock- they only get one or two at a time. Good luck!
  • sinned1sinned1 Member Posts: 7
The same sales person who qouted 17K on the VP quoted 18,500 for the LX.I would think you can get them cheaper than that, since they have plenty on the lot and also would probably have better color choices.
  • robinmdrobinmd Member Posts: 21
Sounds pretty good to me. I've been given an OTD price of $23,000, but my car doesn't have any added options.

  • ewansmomewansmom Member Posts: 1
I have been quoted 20,790 + 550 (destination) for a 2006 EX with leather. This does not include TT&L. From the research that I have done, I think that that is a good price, but I wanted to know what you all thought.

    Thanks!
  • techguy06techguy06 Member Posts: 13
I got my 2006 LX SE Auto for $18,362+TTL in Fremont, CA, with no negotiating. I had email quotes ranging from $18,362 to $19,600. I think you need to contact a few more dealers. carsdirect.com is quoting $19,338+TTL for Tampa, FL zipcode 33601. Local dealers should definitely be able to beat this price! The carsdirect price in San Jose, CA is $19,088, only $300 less. Thus, pricing in FL should not be drastically different. Good luck!
  • techguy06techguy06 Member Posts: 13
Yes, I got my SE AT for $18,362 (incl dest)+TTL. I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers. The MSRP on an SE is $22,075, and the invoice is $19,928. There's a $750 incentive to dealers and a 3% holdback, which leads to the price of around $18,500. My cousin in Cambridge, MA just bought a VP AT. MSRP is $19,575, invoice is $17,682, and she got the car for around $16,300.
  • rgray3rgray3 Member Posts: 23
So the Dealer hold back on your car would be around $598( 3% of $19,928)? Less the $750.00 from the Invoice price comes to $18,580.

    Invoice 19,928
    Rebate -750
    3% -598
    Total 18,580
    What you PD -18,362
    Dealer Lost $218
Going by these numbers you have given the dealer lost $218 on your purchase.

How much were your Documenatation fees? If they are less than $218 the dealer made no money on that car........
  • techguy06techguy06 Member Posts: 13
I had calculated $18,532 after invoice - 3% - $750. The fees I paid are listed in post #11749. I don't know why dealers are willing to sell at less than this price. If anyone has an idea, please let me know. I didn't have to negotiate at all to get $18,362 from the Fremont dealer who sold me the car. I also had $18,382 from San Leandro (after telling them about the other quote by phone) and $18,500 from Capitol Honda (after visiting the dealership and negotiating).
  • rgray3rgray3 Member Posts: 23
Doc fee was $45....wow 218-45=$173. They lost nearly $200 to sell you the car. makes me wonder how they even stay in business.

Maybe our "Undercover Sales Manager" can explain how Dealers can give deals as good as your's?
  • channjchannj Member Posts: 2
I have been offered for Silver 2006 LX automatic for 17800 (Incl Destination) + TTL. Is this a good price for in and around NY/NJ.
  • riposteriposte Member Posts: 160
You mean "I4", not "V4", of course.
  • rd1688rd1688 Member Posts: 5
Thanks, he threw in mud guards and wheel locks. At first he was not willing to throw in any extras, but was able to convince him. I think the doc/prep fee is $199. OTD $26,972
Not sure if this was the best price in the area, but this was the only dealership that had the color and trim that I wanted.
  • rd1688rd1688 Member Posts: 5
yeah, so far SI Honda was one of the better dealerships I've dealt with. Yes, when mentioned the $750 to dealer incentive, thats when he was willing to make a deal with me. yeah, they preprinted the $199 doc/prep charge on the form. But after going to dealership to dealership this was the only one that had what I wanted and gave me the best price. The others won't go below invoice price. I got the EXL-V6. It seems like you got a good deal too..
  • shannon327shannon327 Member Posts: 4
Wow that is a great price including the dest. charge. My price did not include that. I still feel like I did well. Brewster did not push add ons as well. I think they knew I was trying to get out for the least amount of $$ possible. They had more LX's on the lot but I didn't want to pay any extra and the add ons didn't seem worth the extra $$ to me.
Are you happy with the VP?
  • fwbuysfwbuys Member Posts: 7
i am happy so far... only 2 weeks so far tho. the car is essentially a station car and the car feels very solid, tight. my previous cars have been european(saab, volvo, audi, mb) and this is my first japanese car. i got sick of despite keeping my cars in good shape, with low miles, i would get whacked by depreciation and the maintenace and repair costs!!! my last audi over 6yrs cost me 25k in depreciation, not to mention maint & repairs that cost 200-500 a pop. i wanted something reliable and cheap to maintain and i feel i made an excellent choice with the accord. if i put on 5k a yr, i figure i can sell the car 6yrs later at 10k. i bought silver/black int. blue, my first choice, was completely unavailable. but i do like the silver/blk combo.... very classic colors. the gold and white looked somewhat "cheaper" looking. just my opinion.

i knew i got a great deal as this was identical price to an "insider price" i got thru my friend's contact at another nj dealer. nanuet was actually at 16950 until i told him about my better price. i actually started to feel guilty as i felt i was squeezing every last dollar. but hey, i didn't force them to do anything they didn't want to do. nanuet as i said in my orig post very very courteous and professional and i would urge anyone to go there last and they will beat the price. doc fee was 135... max allowed by nys and just tax and reg on top of that.

go to nanuet whether its VP, LX, EX. you'll like the guys at nanuet and most of all, their prices and attitude. end of month prob helps too i'm sure. i do think you got a good deal as well. its a few hundred bucks.... nothing to fret over. if you were off by 1000, i'd be mad. how are you liking yours?
  • cohenfivecohenfive Member Posts: 85
your price is good--about $100 or so less than i got from the sf bay area dealers a couple of weeks ago. at this point it may be a tradeoff between waiting to see if prices go a tad lower versus declining inventory and choices of color. imo an accord ex-l automatic at these sorts of prices is very good value...i'm still in negotiations locally on a slightly used one. if that doesn't work out i may try to buy a new one.
  • ambhooambhoo Member Posts: 11
Yes I4. Is that a good price? with the options that I added for the selling price.

Does anyone have any buying experiences/stories of buying a 2006 SE in Georgia? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wait until August when the 07 comes out, price will drop. I got my 05 Accord V6 Ex w/ spoiler OTD 24,500 last summer
  • robinmdrobinmd Member Posts: 21
I think it's a good price especially since it's below invoice when you subtract all of the taxes, fees, and options. There's always going to be somebody out there that got a better deal. Enjoy your car. Hopefully I'll be picking my EX-L up on Saturday. :)

    Robert
  • rgray3rgray3 Member Posts: 23
Now if I coud get that price($24,500) OTD with the rear wing spoiler I would buy it today!

Lowest I have seen is $24,200 plus an additional $500 for the Rear wing spoiler. Comes to about $25,723 OTD.

I was thinking I might go in on the 27th of July and see if they might accept $23,800 for the EX-L V6.
  • rd1688rd1688 Member Posts: 5
I'm glad you mentioned you didn't pay for the doc/prep fee which they preprinted on the form. I made them take off the fee and they did. they also gave me the whole $750 incentive. Thanks.
  • normkolnormkol Member Posts: 135
I think it's nervy of them to preprint those fees, especially the destination.

When I bought the Pilot last year, my wife signed the paper without checking with me. I had to threaten to cancel the deal before they would remove the duplicate destination charge.

This year, with the Accord, he remembered me and there was no problem.

    Enjoy your car.
