We were able to get a good price on an '06 in the trim/color we wanted so we went for it. There are no discernible differences between the '06 and '07, so we thought there was no point in waiting any longer.
I am actually surprised that the '06 and '07 are so similar. Honda even used the same photos in the printed brochure. I know there will be a total redesign for the '08, but I would have thought they would make at least some minor changes for the '07, just to differentiate it from the '06. The only change I could find was that the '07 has a slightly higher curb weight (~100 lbs.) than the '06. I don't know what accounts for it, though, because otherwise the specs are identical.
On trips I'm VERY careful with throttle though, doing my best to keep the car from ever having to downshift (which I can't always do, but often can go 240 miles all in 5th gear). My father's 2005 EX I-4 Auto once gave me 39.96 MPG, but I couldn't break the 40 MPG barrier! LOL, that trip was with no A/C.
Oh yeah, regular gas, Chevron w/Techron always run in our cars.
I am loving this car, on my last tank I went 434.1 miles on 14 gallons - just over $30. Not bad in my opinion, considering that was suburban/urban highway with one high-speed run to the hospital. Everyone is ok (don't worry) but the car was very stable over 105 MPH (low traffic - interstate - flashers going).

But there are reasons to avoid an 08
It will probably have a few more problems than an 07 (1st year cars do, even Hondas and Toyotas--check out the Camry woes board)
It will be significantly more expensive. The list price may not be that much higher $500-900, say, but the actual prices will be much higher than the 07s. When a new generation of Accord comes out there's almost always very high demand in the first few months as some people want to be the first on their block to have the new style. Dealers therefore discount very little until production is ramped up.
All in all I'm leaning a bit toward on 08 (perhaps bought in the summer of 08, so that discounts are more likely and at least some of the early bugs are worked out).
But, if there are screaming deals on the last of the 07s in a few months I may go ahead.

Both are automatics. The invoice on the I4 w/auto is $20,097 for the car + dest. The invoice on the v-6 is $21,638 w/auto for the car + dest.
What makes the deals even sweeter is the 36 lease deal you can get on either one. While not as good as some prior lease deals, these are pretty decent (around 5% effective interest). With not much out of pocket, $239 + tax for the i4 and $249 for the v-6.
The dealer is located in the southeast US and other dealers may match or beat the prices. The SE seems a sweet spot on the lineup - just a little more than an LX but adds rear disc brakes, 6 disc in dash changer, and alloy wheels.

In the end, my daughter decided she would rather have the Civic EX than either Accord. Her money, her choice. We got a decent deal - about $700 over invoice for the Civic EX including the dealer fee.

Actually, the KY dealer has not confirmed they will meet or beat the GA prices but in the past they always have. I will post when I hear back from them in case they will go lower.
If it were not for the dealer fees, it might be worth a flight in and a drive back - those things are just getting out of hand. Every place I check you have to be sure they tell you what the fee/fees is/are as some folks will give you a good price then "forget" to tell you they have several hundred in "prep" or "doc" fees. I have heard tails of some dealers that will give quotes and leave out destination and dealer fees - hoping to get you to come in then add those on. Hoping that once you have made the trip you will shut up and pay them. So always ask

In e-mails they give the price for the car + dest you have to ask about the "prep fee" which is pretty high, but all that matters is the total of the car+dest+fee which is what I posted and was good as of just a few days ago.
I have no connection with the folks there or the dealership, other than I get quotes from them a lot when helping people find deals. They are normally VERY competitive on Internet quotes.

That is a little higher than the GA dealer, but still not a bad price for a new 07 car at the start of the model year. You can couple these prices with the $239 or $249 a month lease deals for a lot of car for a little down and a little each month.

If you find a left-over 06 there is $750 in "marketing assistance" on those, so getting one for $750 under invoice would be possible now.
As far as I know, all Accords are made in Ohio with some MAYBE being imported from Japan.

Any experience on price matching with out of state quotes
In my area, none of the dealers really deal unless you just get lucky (last day of the month and they need one more unit to help make quota) so I go out of area or state and send folks out as well. Sometimes if you want a deal, you have to travel to get it.
If you show a cheap quote to a local dealer they will usually tell you to go get it. SOME dealers will tell you any price and when you try to get the car they hit you with more stuff. They know you drove or flew and will not want to leave empty handed. So posting your locale and getting a recommendation from someone that has dealt with them is a big plus.

A guy from O'Hare Honda posted a decent price on a Civic ($1k over invoice) in the Civic price thread, so they might to invoice or less on an Accord.
Keep in mind, if you can get close to the same price from a dealer that is fairly close to home take it - don't try to squeeze the last nickel out of every deal (or from every dealer). Sometimes you can't and just make yourself and the dealer angry

I have not heard of that many Accord problems. CR has the v6 as the top rated family sedan for this year (over the I4). They do show in 03 worse than normal repair ratings for the transmission which has improved to much better than normal.
What most folks say: Drive the I4 and see if it feels under powered to you. If not, then buy it - don't drive the V6. If you think the I4 would not be enough power, then drive the V6. The v6 costs more and drinks the gas at a little faster rate (a little more in the city and a lot more on the highway). Probably has a better resale value for the v6 as well. All the v6 Accords come with stability control included, which is not available on the I4 Accord - but is likely of limited benefit for a FWD sedan.
I would not let rumors scare you off if you want the v6. Get the one you want and slap a 8yr/120k mile HondaCare warranty on it and have years and miles of smiles.

Very true. The Accord felt great to me (having not driven the V-6). I've driven a V6 since I bought mine, and it is much quicker on the highway, but offers no real benefit in town below, say, 40 MPH. It's real strengths lie in highway passing power. Needless to say, I'm still very happy I got a I-4 model, especially since I'm going to the beach Friday, and routinely get 38-39 MPG on those trips!

Cincy is about the same distance from you. You might try faxing all the dealers there a request for price quote (car+dest+dealer fees) and see what you get back. I would be surprised if you got back any for invoice or less, but you will not know until you try. You can also check the dealer web pages to get a feel for their pricing. Do they have a current ad online or current specials? If neither, then they don't update the page much and may not be into "Internet pricing". If they do, you can see what they are offering. For example, on the Hennessy (GA) page they have the 2 SE lease special that Honda offers, but $20 or so per month less with about the same out of pocket money. The lower price is due to their deeper discount. You can also try e-mailing all the dealers for a quote. Some will have closed or full mail boxes, the better ones (and more likely to deal?) will get you a price back right away.

I looked in my notes and it was Open Road in Edison and Jersey Honda. Open Road is still there and has a web page up. The Jerseyhonda.com domain is still registered but nothing comes up there and they don't appear in the dealer locator, so I assume a name change....

So at TMV price the dealer is still making $740 plus any dealer fees. A lot of times the factory money is tiered based on sales VS quota for the month. So the $750 could be an "up to" number. A dealer that has made their numbers for the month will get $750 off of each one sold, while another dealer may be under quote and get $0 or something between $0 and $750 per car. Sounds like room to negotiate to me.
I have posted prices in the Southeast US for 2007 Accords for invoice or a little less including destination and dealer fees. Before I would pay invoice for a 2006 I would take a 2007 at invoice. Heck, paying invoice for a 2007 may be better than paying $750 under for a left over 2006.
Your profile does not show your location. If you tell everyone the part of the country you are in then perhaps someone could jump in a recommend a good dealer in your area? Me telling about invoice or less in KY or GA does you no good if you are in Washington state

You can also try going to carsdirect.com and pricing out a car like you want from a local dealer based on your zip code. If the price is good, then fill out the "have a dealer contact me" form online. "In theory" an area dealer should contact you and sell you the car for the carsdirect.com price shown for your area plus a (modest, we hop) dealer fee.
Or fly to Louisville and drive back a new 07 for invoice - it looks like 720 miles or so. The GA dealer is cheaper, but is 120 more miles away (and is a long way from the Atlanta airport).

asked initially if they would accept 19,428. the first dealership salesman started throwing a fit saying that is not possible. i can only sell at my invoiceof 20000. went to the next dealership and they countered with 20000 too and they will lose money as they have the protection package on it.
i then suggested 19740 and they finally accepted for 19800, but managed to sneak up a documentation fee of $55.
being a new model i am not sure if i got a good deal or not. seems like i overpaid by about 380 on top of what their real invoice is. But the number of sales people coming and talking about the price to me asking me to go up on my offer has been surprising not to say the least,
