    Hi,

Just a silly question. Is it ok to directly forward an email quota from one deal to another, including dealer name and saleperson' s name? Or just the quota itself without mentioning any specific names.

Tried to match prices between deals and was asked to bring in the written quota with the lower price.

    Thanks!

I paid $27395 OTD (including tax, tags, license, and destination charge) for a 2008 Accord EX-L 4 cyl manual with navigation. Probably could have done a little better by about $500-800 but dealer was not willing to negotiate since it was the only EX-L 4 cyl manual with navi on the lot. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and financed through AHFC with 48 month term and 4.9% APR.

Thanks, jinsmurf, for giving your interest rate you got through AHFC. My wife and I bought both of our cars in 2004 when rates were lower, so I've been wondering what to expect (ballpark of course) these days. Some say to have your financing in hand before you go into the dealership, but I think one can do just as well dealing with a highly motivated dealer and finacier if you stick to your guns.

my 2 cents on getting quotes from dealers through Edmunds is for anyone who has not done this yet - be ready for the assault of messages that will be on your machine when you get home each night. I chose 'e-mail anytime' for my contact option, received one e-mail with an actual quote, a bunch of junk e-mail with no quotes asking me "when can you come in?" and many phone messages saying as much, also. My better sense told me to put a fake phone number in, but I shrugged it off thinking they'd eventually get tired of it if they did call me. It's not a big deal to me, but it is dishonest, careless or both on the dealer's part. Doesn't leave me with a good impression...at all. One dealer actually called me within 10 minutes with the "come in and we'll get ya free tinting tonight" line on a very rainy Saturday. Okay, gripe switch off now. Interestingly, the one dealer (John Eagle Honda/Dallas) whom I did get a quote from is the only one who hasn't left a bunch of annoying messages on my machine. I'm thinking of trying the fax/e-mail method, but I'm cooling off to the idea of getting an Accord for the time being...hoping wife opts for Camry instead.

I researched on Edmunds and contacted two dealers and told them the lost price I found on Edmunds as my starting point. Just being prepared and willing to walk away if they try adding on extra cost. $24162 for a 26496 sticker is about the best price today for a 4 cyl ex-l with leather.

    Hi,

Any one in Seattle area shopping for Sedan Auto V4 EX-L with Nav? I purchased the fighting chance package and started contacting dealers today.

Haven't got any reply yet. Just wondering what you guys are getting for Auto V4 EX-L with Navigation in Seattle area?

Any recommendations for dealer in Seattle area? I have to buy accord by the end of this month. I sold my old car & right now borrowing my friend explorer:)

    Thanks in advance!

I purchased an 08 EXL with nav 4 cylinder from Dick Hannah Honda in Vancouver for $26,400. I paid invoice, +$400 for all weather mats, mud guards and trunk tray. Had I tried more, I could have likely got that knocked down a bit, but oh well.

I live in Bothell and took the train to Vancouver to get it. Nice thing is that you save $250 in sales tax as their rate is only 8.5% vs. 9.2% in Seattle. Feel free to email me for the salesperson contact info.

I gotta admit, prices were VERY high in the seattle area. The lowest I got was $750 over invoice from Bellevue, but they wanted me to come in and negotiate further, which I wouldn't do. I did the Vancouver deal all over the phone.

:) Where in North Carolina did you buy your Accord?
Can you provide me with the break down?
    Thank you

    Thanks Brockp,

Congrats on your new car!! I'm also looking to buy EX-L V4 with nav. I sold my 2000 Camry for 9 thousand bucks yesterday on craiglist:)

Is the $26400 includes invoice+destination price as well? How much was the total out the door price OTD? Can you pls. send me itemized cost plus the name of contact person to arvindku at msn dot com.

I live in Redmond & have many friends live in Bothell. You are pretty close mate:)

    Thanks again!

I would prefer a factory nav up to a point, but it's bad for leasing for what it costs.
Trying to do things like controlling the radio volume up and down and scan radio stations by voice is just dumb when you can so quickly and easily do stuff like that with steering wheel controls.
  • bvdj84bvdj84 Member Posts: 1,724
That is what my problem is when deciding which model to get. I really would like to have the navigation. If I am going to go through the hassle to trade, than why not get what I want. I also may think about keeping this next car, so why not.... Although all the above points are true... it really gives me something to think about whether to get the nav with the lease. It does bump up the payment a bit. I am waiting for better deals, so it'll get better.

    "Pleaded" leather?

    What's that? :confuse:
  • steevosteevo Member Posts: 389
He must have meant pleated... but still not sure what that means on a seat.
  • iu_garyiu_gary Member Posts: 2
I have found here in the Atlanta area a dealer that will go $23,500 + 399 destination + 22 for title plus 6% tax. Drive out is $25,354.94.
  • bug4bug4 Member Posts: 370
Sorry - I did mean "pleat" -- From Wikipedia "Pleat: A pleat is a type of fold formed by doubling fabric back upon itself and securing it in place. It is commonly used in clothing and upholstery to gather a wide piece of fabric to a narrower circumference." It creates the soft folds in the leather (right along the seams). They eventually crease into ugly fold lines. Stretched leather looks much much much better in the long term.
  • bvdj84bvdj84 Member Posts: 1,724
the problem is, most that have leather, typically don't even take care of their leather so it looks wrinkled, old really fast.

I'm getting Total OTD price $27459.79 for 2008 Accord Sedan Auto 2.4L EX-L with Nav. Is this good price compare to other parts of country.

Everything is included in OTD price..destination charge, Tax (9.2%) Title, doc. fees etc.etc.

    I'm in northwest..Seattle area..

I think I'd read that Honda's only building something like 40,000 2008 Coupes. Since they hope to sell something like 400,000 Accords total this year, that'd mean only one out of ten Accords are Coupes which, looking at area lots, seems about right.
  • abhikuabhiku Member Posts: 124
Does any one know how much is the factory holdback and floorplan fee for Accord 08 sedan?

Thanks for your help in advance!
  • bvdj84bvdj84 Member Posts: 1,724
Well when I did a lease a few weeks back, I was given that amount, $200 under invoice... so that was the number used for the lease.
  • steevosteevo Member Posts: 389
The holdback is supposedly 2% of the MSRP. It is paid back to the dealer when the car is sold, regardless of selling price.
  • bvdj84bvdj84 Member Posts: 1,724
That $27459.79 seem high, since I was offered like $25,----, for an EX-L 4cyl, navi lease. I am not sure on how much more haggling room you have, but it seems quite high.
  • bvdj84bvdj84 Member Posts: 1,724
Honda better get on that! Because they are not moving at all around here. They are losing customers that going elsewhere. It does not make sense to strictly price a new product so tightly that it doesn't move. If I were company, I would offer a moderate deal to get the product out there. I look at the very few 08 accord drivers out there, and laugh because I know they paid way too much. I am so glad I have waited this long.

Honda! You better offer something soon, or you'll be losing even more, even us loyalists.
  • bug4bug4 Member Posts: 370
But . . . if the price includes the 9.2% tax, the price seems not so bad. [And I was bitching about 6.5% when I bought my new Accord . . . . . ]
  • toxicchilltoxicchill Member Posts: 6
after reading all these post, i'm really starting to think i way overpaid. my otd price is 29500 for a ex-l, v6. i paid 26,800 + tax and dmv fees, etc.. so my otd is around 29,500. looks like i'm the only one that paid that much for a ex-l v6 :(
  • sunnfunsunnfun Member Posts: 168
As time goes buy, prices are going to get lower. I think the 4 DR EXL V6 W/O Nav is going for about 26000 plus TTL right now. Although I am still getting emails that some dealers are willing to beat their previous prices by a few hundred which would put the price in the 25500 to 26000 range plus TTL.
  • toxicchilltoxicchill Member Posts: 6
so i likely overpaid by about 800? that sux.. lol. i went through a friend who works for a dealership and he told me the invoice price is 26500 and the lowest he can charge me is 300+ invoice. i should have shop around some more. lesson learn for my next vehicle.
  • abhikuabhiku Member Posts: 124
Are you sure $25,xxx was your Out the door Total price? not Invoice price?

Price given to me is Total Out the door..not penny less not more..:)
  • sunnfunsunnfun Member Posts: 168
I'd say roughly $800. I did my pricing through the internet managers and kept going back and forth until I could get my price at one of the dealers. I would not say you got a bad deal, just not the best deal.
  • jaxs1jaxs1 Member Posts: 2,697
It's not Honda's fault. It's the dealer's fault. There is room to discount the cars without any factory incentives. If they choose not to and lose sales because of that, then it's their loss.
  • duke15duke15 Member Posts: 161
Has anyone tried to by an Accord Coupe through the Costco auto buying program? I've done that before when cars were in short supply and I got to order one for far less than they were going off the lot. The problem is that Honda can place a higher cost on their better selling cars if they want to.
  • chizlchizl Member Posts: 1
Buying from Sam Swope in Louisville KY, my basic quote is: automatic=23427.98+635 destination+150 advertising =24212.98. Finance rate @ 5.3%.
I'm going in the dealership today to pick the exact one I want. Any suggestions/comments/advice ? I've been working on this for 4 months and so far this is the best offer. What do you pros think?
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
You may get a "good deal" but you may not get the car you really want.

It's the MARKET that determines pricing.

Why would a dealer sell a short supply/high demand product for what he paid for it or even less as you suggest.

    Would you?

    Not just Hondas, but anything.
  • dreamcar5dreamcar5 Member Posts: 69
Keep in mind--> DO NOT pay a car higher than (invoice + $200).

Then you will get a good deal.
  • dreamcar5dreamcar5 Member Posts: 69
The color and accessories should be worth of $300 more, then u get a good deal on V6. So far my 08 V6 with Navi Accord is treating me very well.

But 08 Civic Hybird should have been bought too, the MPG was awesome.

Need $21K for this Hybird for local. ;)
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
Why do people keep saying buy at invoice plus $100 or plus $200.... it should be buy at invoice or below.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Your last paragraph sums things things up nicely.

Popular cars that are in short supply aren't going to have any dealer incentive money as other cars have. Certainly not on Accords at this time.
  • sunnfunsunnfun Member Posts: 168
Is that with or without TTL? If without then that is not a good deal. You can get the same car in northern VA for 28500 OTD. (for the 4Dr EXLV6)
  • steevosteevo Member Posts: 389
Try Costco see what happens, you never know! Post the price you get so we can see.....
The "gotta have it" factor on the Coupe will probably decrease the discount but it still should be better than someone off the street would get....
  • jaxs1jaxs1 Member Posts: 2,697
Honda is simply electing to build few of the coupes because there is much less demand than for the sedans. More people buy the sedans, bu there isn' the shortage because they also build many more.
They coupes were released later than the sedans and they probably haven't even ramped up to their limited maximum production numbers at this time.
It is not that there is this incredible massive demand for coupes or that there are a higher actual numbers of people who will buy coupes.
  • jaxs1jaxs1 Member Posts: 2,697
Invoice is not "less than he paid for it" since they are credited back money after the car is sold.
If invoice was their true cost, all the dealers that have been selling cars below invoice for decades would have been bankrupted years ago.
They have to sell them for whatever price buyers will pay. If they can sell for MSRP or higher, they will and if they can't, they won't.
  • sunnfunsunnfun Member Posts: 168
That's the lowest I've seen so far. As time goes by the price will go lower but that's pretty good for right now.
  • vietviet Member Posts: 847
    Isellhondas,

What is the average price most Honda dealers are ready to sell now for a '08 Accord V6 EX-L w/ Navi? How do you honestly evaluate that car? Any VCM issue with it? Many customers complained about VCM, surge, vibration? Thanks.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Don't expect any deep discounts on NAVI V-6 Accords. They are in VERY short supply. For some reason, the demand for NAVI cars has surged. V-6 NAVI Coupes are impossible to find now at ANY price.

I know a lot of people probably won't believe me but I have NEVER ONCE heard anyone complain about the VCM system in new Accords and neither have tha guiys in our shop. Not to say some cars could be affected in some way but I sure can't feel this happening on the ones I have driven. A customer directed me to that forum and that is the only place I have heard of this.

I could be wrong but I really think it may be the ones complaining are simply over sensitive to normal operation of their cars. Problems forums will always attract people with problems real or perceived like a magnet so I don't know.

    That is my honest opinion.

I really don't know why people think they "need" a V-6 in the first place. The 190 HP 4 cyls have LOTS of power and they are almost as smooth.

With the price of gas going even crazier I suspect the V-6 people may be taking a second look at the 4 bangers.
  • vietviet Member Posts: 847
Thanks, IsellHonda, I "have beaten the market" and bought a '08 V6 EX-L w./ Navi early Dec 07 or another customer would steal it from my saleman at higher price at that time.

It runs lovely. I am crazy with horse power even though I know 190HP is more than enough to me. I have 4 Accords V6, 2 of them got Navi. One is the hybrid '05 w/ navi. Have you got comp[aints about '05 Accord hybrid? It sometimes generates humming noise when it changes engine mode from gas to electric or vice versa. Thanks.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Nope, I've never head about a humming noise on Accord Hybrids either. Some noises are just normal and aren't an indicator of anything wrong.

Accord Hybrids never sold well so my experience isn't that broad.

As an update, I just walked out to the shop and I asked our Service Manager if he had heard of any VCM problems and he had not nor had any of the four Service Advisors who were standing there.
  • jensadjensad Member Posts: 388
I talked with a salesman at a local dealer re: the VCM issue. He said he had "never heard about it", which I can't say is or is not the truth.

(Seems to me that at their sales meeting this would be one item on the agenda and there would be a discussion about this issue, maybe not.)

Anyways the salesman then said, "maybe that explains why we have not received many EX:V-6s recently." Inference being maybe Honda IS aware of this problem and are attempting a fix. Don't know

Another topic. Since most members probaby post a message due to some dissatisfacton with their car, and probably satisfied owners don't post. How aboutt an unscientific pol?.

How many of you ARE satisfied with you EX, EXL V6 and

how many are NOT satisfied with your EX, EXLV6?

Good luck to all and stay safe.

Published invoice on the EXLV6 with nav is $28,674 inc freight. I am working with a dealer in Central VA who has agreed to sell me this car @ $28,800 inc freight or $126 above invoice. Doing an inventory search now for my color choices. Will update when the deal is done. Will identify the dealer if I'm happy with the rest of the transaction.

I'm looking for another car, but can't get past the looks of the 08 Accord. Has anyone seen any 2007 leftover V6 sedans out there?
