    No surprised
I expected something but there wasn't
They do add wheel locks to all of their cars which is $100 but my sales guy told me this before I went down there
They will be the first people I contact when I need my next car (even being 650 miles away)
Which I drove pretty much the whole way home on one tank of gas. :)

    Thanks a lot.

Thank you. Good to know that there weren't any surprises and that the deal went through as quoted. I did notice the wheel locks on their quote to me, but with their low quote it really doesn't matter. Thanks again for posting your information.

The lowest quote I got for 2012 Accord Sedan LX is $18,795.40 OTD(includes all fees). Is it a good price. I am in VA.

    Hello ,

can you tell me if the dealer tells u the interest rate before you make the deal or you have to first decide and sign the car price and then only dealer tells you the deal?

I mean , I would like to decide the price after I know the APR dealer is offering me. This will tell me total expense including finances

    Thanks

If you have a good credit you'll get Honda 0.9% rate.

    is it with auto?
The best OTD price I can get for LX with auto in SoCal is 20K.

Well, there are two ways to go about it. You can complete an online application through Honda Finance and pre-qualify ahead of time. This way you will know if you qualify for their lowest interest rate loan. I believe right now it is 0.9 for up to 36 months. Up to 5 yrs. is 1.9%. In my case, I had to start the vehicle purchasing and put down a deposit, but my sales-guy put a note on the agreement, giving me the option to walk if I didn't get the preferred interest rate of 0.9. Within minutes the finance department processed my loan application, and I was approved at 0.9%. I can certainly understand why you'd want to know the interest rate before agreeing to buy. I am the same way. I purchased a vehicle 5 years ago, where they insisted I'd get the best possible interest available, and ended up paying 7.59%. It was too late for me to walk, but I learned from that experience. Good Luck.

Hello, I would fill out the online form for Honda to determine what you qualify for beforehand. In 2002 I negotiated a good price for my Honda Accord and when they sat me down for financing they had paperwork made out for 8%. When I realized this I told them I expected 5% since I was aware through Edmunds.com that 5% was the rate offered. They said the offer was over and I told them I knew it was not. With the prequalification you may not have them pull this switch.

They called their "boss" and told him that I insisted rate should be 5% per edmunds. "Boss" confirmed rate was valid. That's the way they get the money they lost through a good negotiated price. Watch and read all papers. Have a good idea what payment should be with .9% before signing.....don't let them rush you. Good Luck!

This is great advise. I would definitely fill out the online application through Honda Finance. Another good idea is to obtain your FICO credit score. You can pretty much determine yourself, if you will qualify for the best interest rate available based on your credit score. I signed up for free trial from Equifax and Transunion, and cancelled within the trial period. It's always a good idea to know your score before you shop.

With the Edmonds calculator tool, I had my payments figured out to the penny before I sat down to close the deal.

    Yes, it is with auto.
  • ocbmwocbmw Member Posts: 31
    that is a great deal.
I would guess they will drop the price more as 2013 model is on the corner
  • dodsatyadodsatya Member Posts: 9
so it is better to wait till 2013 hits the road? I am not in a hurry to buy the car unless i get a killer deal.. I have seen on this forum someone paid $18500 for 2012 LXP OTD.
  • dsmking1dsmking1 Member Posts: 16
    Hi,

Where in VA you got that deal?. Does it include freaight or destination charges, tag, and dealer processing fees ?.

    Thx
  • dodsatyadodsatya Member Posts: 9
Couple of dealers in N VA area are willing to match $18775 OTD for 2012 Accord LX automatic. yes, it includes everything...destination, docs fee, TTL.

great ! online Honda finance application before walking into the dealership is a great idea.

I have a credit union pre-approval which offers higher APR than Honda's 1.99. but I have 700 + score. I wonder, if re-doing pre-approval through Honda would reduce my score.?

I think, the most logical steps are

    1. check what Honda finance is offering
    2. if I am happy with it, finalize the purchase price with dealer without disclosing the APR
    3. If satisfied with the purchase price, show the dealer pre-approval. and buy the car

any thing I need to double check before I sign papers?

    Thank you
  • raj777raj777 Member Posts: 7
Can you share details on price , I mean,

Purchase price - 19k (as you have mentioned)
    Tax- 7%
    DMV fees -?
    Finance Fees -?
    Documentation fees--?

I assume that destination fees were included in 19k Price.
I am also looking for 2012 Accord SE in NJ (SE has leather seats , I guess). I would appreciate your tips . Anything, you feel I should do different as per your current experience?

    Thank you
  • raj777raj777 Member Posts: 7
I called Honda financing,as per the Rep, they can tell you if you are approved or not, but only dealer can tell you the actual rate.
Basically, they have kept main cards in dealer's hands. (Now I understand that if dealer is not making good profit through purchase price, the last chance for them is through financing)

I think, the best idea is to have sales guy write a note on the agreement ' customer can break the deal if he is not happy with APR'
Its great that sales guy let you write this kind of a note on an agreement.

but are you sure that they wont give you APR unless you sign the agreement?

Did they make you pay any finance fees to compensate for their loss from 1.99 APR they gave you? or APR covers all finance fees?

    I would appreciate your reply

I am in a similar position, I'll wait for a better deal or newly designed 2013 model.
18500 OTD for LXP is an excellent deal. I wish I could get that. Though Honda incentives and rebates greatly differs from one region to another. Good luck
  • irisg1irisg1 Member Posts: 17
The price I paid for my Accord SE including destination fee, was actually $19,790.
    + 7% tax
    +$299. DMV Fees
    +$269. Documentation Fees

Prices may have dropped even more now, but I wanted to make sure I got the 0.9% financing, so I had to make my purchase before 5/31/12.
  • raj777raj777 Member Posts: 7
    Thank you
so they wont give you APR until you sign the agreement , right?
  • spider32spider32 Member Posts: 4
Yes, the price included everything. (did not include registration fee, state inspection). final cost $18,600.

Dealer name: Auto fair Honda, Manchester NH
  • spider32spider32 Member Posts: 4
I did not buy any accessories or anything extra on the car. Just bought 2012 Honda Accord LXP model , no extra added items in that.

That price included the following add-ons: Paint Protect, Trunk Liner, Wheel locks, Splash Guards.

Leather seating big plus! Got 1.9% for 60mo.
  • raj777raj777 Member Posts: 7
congratulations! did you have to sign the agreement before the dealer gave you confirmation on APR or u didnt sign anything untill you got the APR?
did you have to negotiate for APR?
    Thanks,

i think that interest rates are pretty standard. the individual dealerships don't mess with as all is financed through honda financial.

also, i know you are in wisconsin, but get a quote from criswell honda in maryland. they were almost $2000 cheaper for me than i could get anywhere in the midwest (i'm in michigan). you can fly into baltimore or DC and get to the dealership pretty easily.
I drove all the way home on 1 tank of gas (averaged 37mpg)
so for me i spent about $225 (includes food) and a whole day to buy a car from them. definately worth it since i saved $2000 :)

BTW - i got the accord se for about 19,600 which is with the destination charge (i think before was 18,800)
  • wiphillyfan1wiphillyfan1 Member Posts: 10
    raj,

landofand is right, the apr was standard and it was Honda's current offer at the time - I didn't have to sign first and did not have to negotiate the APR. Good luck.

Wow, 19,600 is a great price - congrats landofand. Did that include any add-ons?
  • wiphillyfan1wiphillyfan1 Member Posts: 10
Any included accessories at that price?

I have purchased several vehicles from Criswell, in Germantown, MD. Consistently good pricing and few games. Interested people should contact Criswell's Internet sales department, which is very good.

Of course anyone interested should contact other MD dealers located close to Criswell. My experience would recommend Sport Honda, Herson Honda. Two I always suggest people avoid is Ourisman Honda and College Park Honda, too many games. Why waste time?

Local Virginia dealers, like Pohanka, have good pricing but they want a $399 dealer fee which is twice what the Maryland dealers look for.
  • landofandlandofand Member Posts: 19
just wheel locks were added on.
if you look at OTD with 6% MI sales tax it would have been 21k or so.
i'm leasing and its only 215/mo with nothing down. 15mi/yr

whether lease or purchase, I couldn't get a price anywhere close.
i got a direct flight to baltimore for $90. can't beat that.
  • wiphillyfan1wiphillyfan1 Member Posts: 10
Very nice lease deal - thanks for the info. Enjoy the car!

I tried calling as well as getting a internet quote from Criswell , but it looks like all the agents i got ,were not as good as yours , and they tried to confuse me.. I did not have that a great experience with Criswell.

Do you mind sharing with (may be as a PM) they name and number of your agent .. I would love to get your deal.
  • dsmking1dsmking1 Member Posts: 16
I also contacted Criswell. My experience is that the agents were good and professional. It is the managers who act differently. My experience with Ourisman was good and their price was also very good. In the end I ended up buying from Herson's Honda last Friday. very professional and smooth transaction and the agent's name is Blessing. At Ourisman, I spoke few times with Omar Deen and he was good too.

Hope it helps. I was following this thread and other forums for a while and I can say, the price and my experience was very good, thanks to Edmonds.com

Got a 2012 Accord EX for 21,000 with an installed wing spoiler thrown in. That brings the price down to around 20,600. I could have bought the car for 20,600 without the wing spoiler but wanted it cause it makes the car look very sporty. They are giving away these Accords! The EX-L was $23,000 at a few dealerships too, but as bad as I wanted one, I was maxed out and the EX will do just fine. Got black w black interior, and just got black tint. Awesome car! Buy one
  • raj777raj777 Member Posts: 7
congrats ! from where? , can you please share state and dealership info?
you mean, you paid 21000 OTD (including taxes +DMV + documentation fees ??)..
  • catfish0115catfish0115 Member Posts: 1
Just bought a new Honda in the Twin Cities for $20,550 including destination (19,750 without destination) and 0.9% financing for 36 months. After weeks of negotiating with many dealerships (including Croswell in MD), I feel this is a pretty good price. I could only get Croswell to come down to $20,350...although my sales guy said they had some pretty good dealer incentives in May which are now expired.
  • ocbmwocbmw Member Posts: 31
Is it Accord LX OTD price?
  • camrykillercamrykiller Member Posts: 9
No...tax was extra. I had a trade which trumped the sales tax, so I only had to pay about 400 in tax.

I had an OTD quote for Accord LXP at $20.4K from a dealer in SoCal. But I decided to buy Camry LE (with power driver seat + mat/carpet) for $21.15K OTD after $750 rebates from Edmunds/Toyota.
  • irisg1irisg1 Member Posts: 17
That price sounds high for my area (NJ), but I don't know if the prices in your area are high in general. Around herebI would say you can get the same car for about $1000 less.
  • wiphillyfan1wiphillyfan1 Member Posts: 10
Tell them to give you the SE for the same price :)
