I ended up buying the car at Courtesy Hyundai in Pawtucket, RI. Low hassle and no "gotcha" BS.
$15, 500 plus $95 doc and title fees for a TOTAL of:
$15,595
State taxes and fees (which the dealer has no control over and makes no profit on) are-sales tax of $1085 and title/registration fees of $90.
OTD of $16,670.
Keep in mind the sales tax is outrageous at 7% and there is no way around it even if you buy out of state.
I'm waiting to the late fall to pick up a used 2009 Limited with about 10 to 12K miles on it.....will save about 6 grand and with the warranty at 60k miles for a used car I don't think I can go wrong.
Just wanted as many opinions as I can get? Is this a good buy or should I return it? Thanks

Chase is allowing me to sell the car , even though I am leasing it. One check will be made payable to the lease company and one to me for the difference from what they want. By the way, my residual was 14,700 and they have agreed to take 12,000. Some Lessors ARE negotiating the buy price. Call them. Maybe you can buy the car for less. Offer 8500.
He wound up buying a certified '05 Acura TSX with ~ 30 K miles for $15,000 plus tax, etc.
Hyuindais don't have the best "trade-in" values but their trade values have improved. And don't forget the old used car game. Get top dollar for your trade and pay top dollar for the new car. Get a great deal on a new car and get wholesale or less on the trade in.
Plus I got $5000 trade in for my stripped 04 Accent (automatic and air only) which only had a clock radio malfunction go wrong in 5 full years. The Accord costs at least $7000 more and has a warranty seven years less. If you intend to hold the car there is nothing better out there than a Hyundai. Nothing.
I really prefer the leather and alloy wheels.

I drove SE and didn't feel much difference with other trims, still too soft to my taste, vague steering. But as a family car, good enough.
The Limited is the Deluxe pakcage, with everything included... the GLS is either the cheap base car, or the standard mid level, depending on Transmission and Option Package. The SE just doesn't fit in now... maybe they need to make the SE a future Sonata Hybrid Station Wagon? I'd have bought one of those in a heartbeat!

For example, if you don't have a Hyundai, then you don't get the $500 owner loyalty rebate. Not a recent college grad? Good bye $400. Not in the military or married to someone in the military? $500. That's $1400 more than the quote.
OTOH, if they took into consideration your rebates, and that's the price, not bad. Not bad at all. Good enough that I would have been all over that a few weeks back when I bought my GLS I4.

The following features are standard on the SE and included in the GLS Popular Equipment Package:

So there is a significant difference between the GLS and SE, with the SE being the sportier variant...
So the SE is kind of stuck in the middle; the important SE features (*to me, and apparantly to many others*) were the Steering wheel audio controls, trip computer, powerdrivers seat and lumbar support. The Automatic headlights are "eh" since I can do that easily enough, and the times when I have the autoheadlights on, they don't seem to turn on quickly enough (oh, and in my state, VA, they should also turn on if the window wipers are turned on automatically... state law, headlights on if window wipers are on, so I can't just "fire and forget" with them anyway).
Of the others, only the leather wrapped steering and shift knob, and the upgraded cloth are really important (the leather steering and shift knob are where you "touch" the car, and contribute to the feeling of quality in the automobile... Hyundai should just make them standard on all cars, as it would only add a minimal amount per car ($100 max, wholesale and in the quantities Hyundai would be buying), but would help initial perception so much...). 17" wheels? I've got a sports car, not important on my sedan; I'd appreciate having them, but I'm not going to pay more than $100-$200 more for them. Fog Lights? Got them on our 2003 GLS, and use them maybe four times a year, and I live beside the ocean; we just don't get enough fog to merit going out of the way to get them. Tilt and Telescoping? My wife and I like the tilt, but we (like many) are in the sweet spot for the default steering wheel distance (though my son could probably make use of the telescoping part); since the GLS comes with Tilt, there's no need for the Telescoping in our family. And as for the upgraded stero, that's an extra cost item on the SE, too....
So, the reason you didn't see us shopping an SE is because it doesn't fill a niche... they could have just put those as various option packages and sold more cars with them. Our choice was always between a Limited (I4) or a GLS (I4 or V6) with Option Package 1. And I have a sneaky suspicion that's true of most folks.
So, like I said, if Hyundai REALLY wants to differentiate the Sonatas, move the SE into a Station Wagon version; folks can already pretty much get the "Sport" Sonata in the Limited.
Well, it clearly doesn't fill YOUR niche.
Personally the SE interests me, for the crisper handling but also because I like the 17" 5-spoke alloys much better than the alloys on the Limited. But frankly the GLS is adequate for my basic needs also.
$3000 rebate still there, till 6/30.

Seats fully adjustable, but missing telescopic steering. 4 cylinder surpisingly responsive, espicially initial take off in the city, gotta be careful in jammed traffic. On a highway, just put gear on 4th or 3th in manual mode for merging or quick overtakes and that's it. It satisfied me enough, so who needs 6 cyl. actually?)) And drive agressively. Usually. )) And what suprised me the most, a got 33 mpg on highway driving 75-80 most of it, except constructions!. It showed on trip computer which was same when I calculated by refills. The car leans minimally in corners, very good for a family car but no feedback from steering at all. Well, I guess Camry is no better.))
Oh, and I bet the dealer would sell you some of the SE's alloy wheels if you bought a Limited.

I agree with jack47, you should be able to get invoice price minus rebate most anywhere and below invoice minus rebate is many areas.
Got a DMV allowance of $300.
probably could have done a bit better, didn't realize there was market support money on the model. (didn't know it took a couple of days for all the incentive information to be loaded onto edmunds - the information showed up the day after I bought.... oh well, patience was never my strong suit)
used Fitzmall as comparable... dealer tried to pooh-pooh the idea, but came to the price close at the end.
definitely felt this site put good information in my hands prior to the negotiations (I had never seen a source for market support values before.)

Based on your numbers a 4cyl GLS should be like $10k.
Also, have you tried Champion Hyundai here in Houston? I got a decent deal for a 2008 Santa Fe from them. They're willing to deal and don't add cr*p like vin etching, under body coating, etc. to the vehicle. I can forward the contact info if you need it.
I am planning to buy 2009 Sonata I4 Auto Limited. I have been to 2 different dealers but their prices are not even close to the TMV by Edmunds.com.
Seems like their prices include so-called "Adjusted Market Value" that is about $1,800 higher than MSRP. After $3,000 rebate ($27,579 dealer price, MSRP $25,800), they were offering me $22,000 + TTL.
Is this fair price? Anybody has any experience like this? By the way, I live in MA.

After all the incentives and rebates deduction, the OTD comes out to be $16,600. Is this a good price?
