What we do know however, is the Hyundai Sonata V6 is a big bargain
When reading several websites and magazines dealing with new car buying they all say that both holdback and factory to dealer incentives should be used when negotiating a cars price.
I think the entire purpose of using these is to get the dealers true cost of the car (or true invoice) and make them an offer with a resonable amount of profit, which typically is 3-5%. Most dealerships, from what I have read, are making about $500 on new cars unless of course they have people who come in and use MSRP to wager their deals.
Now, I know this a Kia example, but about a month ago I went to the Kia Dealership and they still had BRAND NEW 05 optimas with the V6 engine and they had them slashed down to 12,000 plus TTL. The stickers on them were over 20k MSRP. Heck, the dealership here about 2 weeks ago finally got rid of their remaining 05 Elantras (and they had several loaded with leather) and 05 Santa Fe's, that were still brand spanking NEW.
The site from theautochannel.com was off the Hyundai Link on the right column. It lists a lot of news about Hyundai, just as it does for other brands you may check. It had the May Hyundai sales numbers on June 1, a few days before one of the Hyundai sites announced the numbers.
I can't find that info now. Can anyone supply help in locating this?

Thanks for trying to help.
Maybe the TMV will reflect the factory to dealer incentives after a passage of time. But, it would be nice for buyers to about a bargaining chip when it becomes available. These types of incentives aren't widely advertised and by the time they filter into the TMV reports they could be discontinued.
The lowest figure I've been able to get from a dealer is $19,700 for an in-stock vehicle, (with limited colors available) with $19,400 for a demo.
And how many additional fees (in addition to TT&L) did they add?
A friend is interested in the Azera, so your info is all the better.
Oh, and since I live in Alabama, does anyone know if states charge you with some out of state fee if you don't live there and buy a car there? :confuse:
There are some general rules of thumb about rebates that I have observed however:
* Rebates tend to be highest on the outgoing models once the new models have hit the lots. We are in that situation now with the Sonata. There are still 2006s on the lots, and the 2007s are rolling in.
* The 2007s aren't much different than the 2006s. Thus there is little justification for Hyundai to stay away from rebates on the 2007s once the 2006s are gone.
* Rebates tend to peak late in the year (year-end closeouts) and early in the year, January-March. There's variations in that behavior, but that is what I have observed over the past several years.
What Hyundai will do with the rebates on the 2007 GLS vs. the V6 models is a big question mark. Will they keep the V6 rebates higher, or start pushing the I4 models more? It's all a big game. It can't be predicable, or the automakers would lose one of the advantages of rebates: unpredictability.
This is everything on the sheet for out the door on a 06 Sonata GLS 4 cylinder with NO extra options
Retail Value-19995
Savings-999
Sale Price-18996
Processing Fee-399
Total Purchase Price- 19395.00
SALES TAX(Not STATE TAX)- 727.31
Title Fee- + 16.50
________
Net Sales Price- 20138.81
Factory Rebate- - 1500.00
---------
Balance Remaining- 18,638.81
*Note that the sales tax and state tax is probably different because tax in Alabama is 9%. Otherwise I don't know why tax is $727.31
1. First of all the invoice price isn't $18,996 it is $18,496 according to Edmunds.
2. Another thing they said was $18,638.81 was the lowest they can go (another lie) but I found out about HOLDBACK which is 2% for Hyundai so the price should be looking more like $18,126.08.
*The salesman even had the nerve to tell me that he wasn't lying of how the price he offered me was the absolute lowest and also he wasn't the type of salesman you hear on the internet. He even went on about how Toyota next door were the liars.
3. Take out the ridiculous processing fee (the salesman insisted it has to be added because they had to pay it) and it comes down to $17,727.08
4.Add the tax and title and total is $18,470.89
5. Subtract the rebate and the grand total is........
$16970.89
6. Even if I absolutly have to pay the processing fee the total is still a $1,000 difference!!
*The dealership I went to was so confident in their price that they guaranteed that it was the lowest I will find. However, they are wrong yet again because a different dealer gave me a better price of $18,400 out the door.
Does all of this sound correct? Did anyone have similar experiences? What is the price range that most people have been paying on a 06 Sonata GLS 4 cylinder? I am sure there are plently of people who bought this car for thousands less.
This friday (6/30) will be a good time to get a great deal
*I really hope to purchase a Sonata between now and next month. I've been talking to other dealers and the lowest so far is $18,000 out the door. That dealer said he might even get me a better deal next month, it just depends on the manufacturer.
See post 2392 for a link to the article about this incentive to the dealer.
Just spoke with a dealer over the phone, and mentioned the $2000 incentive and he denied knowing about, saying that his Hyundai rep never told him about it so he doesn't believe it actually exists.
I suggest you make an offer of what you feel is a fair price. Feel free to let him know that your offer is based on the rebate, factory to dealer incentive, plus what you fee is a fair dealer discount. Tell him your offer includes all charges & fees to be paid to the dealer and that you will only add tax and other state fees paid to the state. If you feel it necessary, print the article announcing the factory to dealer incentive. If he then denies it, you'll know what kind of person you're dealing with. Don't be afraid to travel to buy a car. I flew from CT to FL and saved a net of $1500 after travel expenses. The dealership I did NOT buy from in CT is more than happy to service my car.
It doesnt have a sunroof but has a 6 CD player.
Is this a good deal? I told them I was willing to pay 19000$. Gave them my number and asked them to call me back.
Havent heard from them as yet. What to do?
Thanks in Advance
Strunzo
they may not call you back so shop around if possible.
Do any of you think the 2.5k rebate will still be offered after july 4th?
If it doesn't come with a couple of gold bars you might want to find another dealer.
....Do any of you think the 2.5k rebate will still be offered after july 4th?....
Depends upon overall inventory of '06's....but, inasmuch as it has already been mentionerd that there is a $1000 rebate on the '07's seems pretty logical that the rebates on the '06 will be reinstituted shortly after the fourth.
COngratulations! That's as good as it gets! Got mine for $16500 with almost no haggling, and I'm delighted.
Paid $15,800 + Sales Tax + CA Registration with no additional fees. Only qualified for the $1,500 customer rebate and no other Hyundai customer discounts/incentives.
It was a struggle to get this price. Many dealers claimed there was no Factory to Dealer Incentive...One dealer claimed there was only a $500 dealer incentive...One dealer claimed there was only a $1000 dealer incentive...They were losing money on the deal, etc., etc. Thanks to everyone on the board as I was well prepared! Also, every part of the negotiation process was by the book according to carbuyingtips.

Would you guys know of a good place where I could buy from (website link if possible please)and the target price I should look for?
The price difference for a new Sonata in the US vs Canada is nearly $10 000... Yea I know, it's completely insane!
Looking forward to give you my hard earned money
