And your Planet Hyundai experience is part of the reason why. Hyundai salespersons, "today only" specials and goofy rebates complicate informed buying decisions. Cannot help wondering about post-purchase service issues. I prefer a 4cyl, but the reported dealer response to the 17" wheel shimmy issue forces me to rethink as well. Thanks again.
I don't know of any stand alone Hyundai dealers, they also sell other brands. Do you think they only try this ploy on moderately informed buyers of Hyundai?
Assuming Planet Hyundai sells other brands, would you buy another brand from them? If they do sell other brand(s), please let us know what brand(s) they are.
The dealer is Pugi Hyundai/Mazda/VW in Downers Grove, IL. I had an absolutely wonderful experience buying our 2006 Elantra GLS sedan from them in December 2005 as a Christmas present for my wife, and I plan to return to buy a Sonata Limited from them before the end of the year. Simply put, they're good people, and treated me very well.
Do a web search for Pugi Hyundai, and send them an e-mail and ask for a quote.
21,900 before TTL
1314.00 TAX
Title/License/Doc fees were around $100-$150 altogether.
No Trade
Also opted for 10yr./100k bumper to bumper warranty which came out to an additional $900 all said and done
Somewhere around 24,500 OTD for both car and warranty.
I was thinking about not getting the extended warranty, but the piece of mind is nice, and he just got lucky w/ his sales example of power window motor repairs (yeah, I've had back luck on those in the past).
All in all I could have done a little better I'm sure. Someone is always going to get a better deal. But the above price was offered to me right out of the gate w/ no game playing and/or hidden fees and other types of sales trickery. Not to mention the let me do whatever on my test drive. I appreciated this, and felt the no B.S. offer was honestly a fair price.
This is in comparison to another local dealer, which after playing games w/ the way he worded questions about what I wanted to pay(sale price vs. how much over invoice), came with an original offer of $1600 more than what I paid. Once I told him I got a better deal, all of the sudden he could do better. But his poor attitude at this point cost him a sale. He literally scalded me on the phone for finding a better deal! Not to mention I was sorta handcuffed for my test drive. Pretty much got to make a citcle in the parking lot and come back. Also tried to sell both the extended bumper to bumper and paint protection plans as only one, gave me the impression this was the only choice I had. Only until I went to the second dealer did I find out these were actually 2 seperate plans.
I would buy like you.
Actually I am trying to buy it.
But the sales person said that "if you buy that price, you should bring the contraction".
It may be strange to you, could you help me this?
If you would to help me, please reply this message.
Is this a good deal or can i get a better deal ?
Thanks
Thanks
Is this a good deal ? Are there any other dealers out there in MD or VA area where i can get a better deal ?
Thanks
Also, should I spend little more and get a base Camry LE for $22.500 ( OTD). One is loaded Hyundai and the other one is base Cammry, confused!!!
Century 21 is a real estate Company. You must be thinking of 21st Century Insurance, known last century as 20th Century Insurance. :confuse: :shades: :lemon:
Company "X" may have great rates in one area of a given state and have extremely high rates in another area of the same state.
I'm an insurance agent in CT and have seen where a company offers great rates in one town and is not even in the same ball park in a nearby town. The same holds true from state to state, based upon the laws from one state to another and the company's experience from a town in one state to a town in another state.
A trend that has been developing in the last few years is the use of credit scoring in determining an individuals rate. Agents don't see a prospect or client's actual credit rating, but the company gets a credit score from the major credit rating agencies based upon a range of credit ratings. Again, how each company weighs the credit score can vary from one company to another.
If you want, give me your email address (is that allowed here?) and I'll give you the name of my contact there. Might simplify things for you. Obviously I can't guarantee anything but it's worthwhile to negotiate with him.
What I DO know, however, is that there are MANY MANY complaints about the new, 2007 Camry, especially about the Camry's transmission.... Go read what posters are telling each other on these very Edmund forums.... Some Camry owners are suggesting plain and simple "don't buy the new Camry"...
Camry 07 seems to have too many problems with transmission to go there. Accord as well as Camrys cost much more than a fully equipped Sonata LTD even with Full package 8 (moonroof and Infinity Premium system).
How much I should pay for a car like this? I have seen here posts with much lower prices than Edmunds TMV or even Kelly's Blue Book True Market Value prices.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
Jay
How long do you plan to keep the car? Three years from now the Sonata MAY have a better relative resale value...that's a gamble you have to decide upon. If you plan to keep the car for at least 6 years, the resale value difference becomes less significant.
I have quotation of Sonata 2007 limited no option.
20,899 OTD(San Diego. Tax 7.75%)
I am trying to down the price.
Is this good price?
Your concerns: depreciation & resale value are two sides of the same coin. This is a single concern, not two. The question needs to be your perception of value (unless you are concerned with others' perception of you driving a Korean car: I was/am still bothered as my preconceived notions & perhaps snobby feeling is vs. a Korean car). I bought this car, not to sell it but to drive it. My wife drives this with our wonderful children in it. My 15 year old will drive it in a year or two. Six air bags, standard. ABS & Traction Control & STABILITY control STANDARD!!! The trip-tronic shifter is a greater adder as well. I love being able to down shift vs. breaking when practical. My car is a 2001, 8 cylinder Mustang. The 2006 Hyundai is a fantastic balance of styling (albeit copied from everyone), value (soooo much thrown in as standard + an amazing warranty) and truly amazing quality. TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. Then test drive a SIMILARLY EQUIPED CAMRY - Do this the same day. Consider with & without the cost. Then your final decision, if you are as cash strapped as me, will be a no brainer.
Sorry for so many words. I went to an opera in NYC (my first in my 43 years) and I felt a funny mix of embarrassement (my hangup) and pride over my smart decision when my Sonata pulled up to a Beemer 5 series.
Good luck with your decision. NOTE: Current resale value IS a concern is you plan to buy & sell within a year or two. Three + years down the road, if the quality/value continues, the resale value will change...or Toyotas will sell for less. This is simple business thinking but true....my viewpoint.
God bless,
Rob
I also wonder how many people know Hyundai is a Korean car. My Sonata is an '05 and people ask me "what kind of car is that?". When I tell them "Hyundai", many will ask "who makes that?"
And don't be concerned about what someone else thinks about your choice of cars. Heck, we'd all be mortgaged to the hilt if we stretched ourselves just to try to impress the other guy on the street (or at a social function).

I just visited the Fitzmall web site for the first time, and their "Delivered" price, including rebates for a 2007 LX (yes LX, not Limited?) is $3000 more than what I paid before Tax for the loaded 06 LX?.
I got a price quote for the 2007 Sonata Gls auto for $16,785 including the $500 rebate. I was wondering if that was a good deal.
I also got a price quote for a 2007 Hyundai Sonata SE for $20,495 (including the $1500 rebate)
Also i'm new to this forum and i was wondering what OTD means and what TTL means ty!!!

Out The Door and Tax,Title,License.
I'm looking at (FINALLY, after over a year of waiting) buying a Sonata... maybe, if the price is right.
But I've never purchased from any of the local Hyundai dealerships (in fact, I've only bought one car in the last 15 years... I have four, but my wife bought a Taurus in 1995, a month before I met her, my stepson was given one as a birthday present (a 1991 Tracer, used, bought new by his grandfather), my (then new) 1989 Camaro, and a 1996 Plymouth Voyager (bought used in 2000), so my familiarity with local dealerships is dated).
As you can tell, I'm a "Buy and Keeper" so the Hyundai's long warrenty is really pulling me to it, even more than it seems a terrific car (I get to rent cars frequently for work, and I've test driven a couple of new Sonatas).
Since this is "Buying Experience"... someone has to know the scoop on the various Hyundai groups... I know there are at least four, though not all in Southside Hampton Roads.
Hyundai, as you know, is a Korean company but the Sonata is assembled in Alabama.
