In comparison, Cars Direct gave a quote of $19802 pick up in NYC. Right now this appears to be the better deal.
All this for a car. Isn't this fun.
Can anybody tell me what is included (apart from standard) in Limited ulitimate package. I test drove a car this saturday and the sales rep there told me that the car I drove is fully loaded limited edition and that they can sell it for under 20k not OTD but just the car price including destination.
I would be buying a car this week but what would be a good deal(OTD) for Limited ultimate package in NJ area?
Bottomline is, my 2 questions are 1) what options does limited ultimate package have 2) What would be a decent OTD price.
I sincerely appreciate any help.
Thanks......
The Hyundai website is a great resource on colors, equipment, packages, etc. Give it a try!
So please let me know what should be a decent OTD for this car.
Thanks,
Think 20k + TTL.
Asking the dealer if he can sell you the Car at a certain price just doesn't sound like the best way to buy?.
KBB or TMV are definitely not a great way to look for prices at this time of the year I guess as they dont consider the timing I guess meaning towards the end of the year we should get better deals and also they are more average prices rather than best deals.
I know that Asking the dealer if he can sell you the Car at a certain price might not be good idea but I would do that only after I find from more knowledgable people here as what would be a good deal and from there even if dont get THE BEST deal atleast I will know that I am not geting a bad deal either.
Thanks......
I know you have little faith in Edmunds, & the Edmunds TMV©, but check out this article from Edmunds!.

The only difference in our two deals is the custom paint option so this is making excellent sense as the delta is on the penny (the mud guards and mats were are another story that I won't get into now).
I would think that they may get agressive again as the end of year approaches and they want to rid You may want to wait until around Dec. 15 or immediately after Christmas and see if their attitude changes.
I was there 3 weeks ago and as usual I walked out. I got hit with "We will beat the price if you buy today."
The manager is real pushy.
On their sales contract they have preprinted: "Administrative Fee" $375. I asked what this fee was about and the salesman's comment was "They always get this fee." Do you believe people pay this fee?
In Brooklyn, stay away from Guifrie Hyundai. They gave me a hard time in getting back a deposit-it took 5 weeks. Plaza, I'm still dealing with them but they don't appear to be of much hope for a good deal. They are looking for the car I want-it seems the black interior even though listed as an option in the brochure is not yet available.
Nemet Hyundai in Queens has a delivery fee $437 preprinted on the contract.
It might be a good idea to wait this purchase out till next month.
No bargains with Fitzmall plus you have to get to Maryland and back. If you have them deliver to NYC, they charge $500.
Have you tried CarsDirect? I don't have any feed back on them.
www.driveone.com
This is a buying service that supposedly charges $100 over invoice. Plus they add on $50 and disguise it in the MSRP and Invoice. For example:
MSRP published: $23595.
Their MSRP: $23645
Driveone offered no explaination for this add on.
MXT
I'd be happy to pay any addditional fees they can come up with...after I deducted those from my "last offer". If they can pulll that stuff on us...we can do it on them!

So far, I LOVE my car, even with the annoying items mentioned in other forums (i.e., the worthless audio controls). It's a huge improvement over my Chevy.
I dont know how far you are from NJ but I got couple of decent quotes in NJ. One is from Towne hyundai at denville (19k Hyundai sonata limited ultimate with out TTL) and global Hyundai said they can do below 20k so may be if you can bargain they might come down a bit.I almost wanted to buy at Towne hyundai but I could not pull the triger though as I am still strugling to decide between a used Luxury car(A6 or ES 330) or a brand new Sonata. Good luck to youy.
Thanks,
Towne Hyundai at $19000 (with rebate included?) for the Limited Ultimate is a super value. It also would be a good price for the Standard.
In fact that price is unheard of so whatever you did, buy it. I assume it's only a quote. It would be interesting to know when you sit down to buy, what gimmicks the dealer comes up with. Do keep us posted.
For my zip code CarsDirect gave me a quote for the 2007 Sonata Limited Base $19802. On their follow up call they told me that Global Hyundai in NJ was the dealer that would get me the car and in addition I pay a Documentation Fee $289 and window etch fee $199. I'm sure that when you get to the dealer there will be pin striping and other goodies that are added.
Youu can't win the price game with any referral service. They are shilling for the dealers and you are playing against a stacked deck that is difficult to overcome. It's the same whether you use Costco, BJ's, Credit Unions, online websites, etc.
Email quotes are a con just to get you into the dealer. And then it's plucking time. I have doubt about some of the prices that I read on the forum.
In NYC I rarely see any Sonatas, so I'm wondering if they are selling in the tri-state area.
Sonata Limited
Standard...$19052
Ultimate...$20627
I'm waiting for a call back to ask for the added dealer charges and you can bet there will be some.
This all gets so tiresome having to go through these numbers dealer after dealer after dealer.
Just remember that advertising costs are not shown on Kelly Blue Book's website so what a dealer quotes as invoice could be $500 higher to account for the ad fees.
A 2007 Limited with the Ultimate package should sell for no more than $20,600 and that is having both advertising fees and dealer hold-back removed from the deal. Without the Ultimate package, take off about $1600 or a sale price around $19,000.

I hope Pat or Karen don't remove my post :surprise:
The prices you see mentioned in the forums are quotes from different dealers usually gotten by email. You will find these quotes to be meaningless as you usually won't be able to buy the car at quote. Go back to the start of the forum discussions and you will get an education in the tricks of the trade.
As I said in a previous post, the dealer cost is an illusion foisted on a gullible consumer group. This number is bandied about as being the bible and that it is so readily available makes it a "pie in the sky" target.
No two deals are ever alike even at the same dealer. So where do you go from here. I have spent several months on this forum, visited at least seven dealers in person, have contacted at least fifteen dealers by email. What have I learned: everything and nothing. The game is rigged: You don't buy a car; They sell you a car.
Sal Liggieri
Don
And who is this wonderful, benevolent dealer that is so accomodating. Certainly not a NYC/Long Island dealer. Still they tried to sneak $500 past you. But you were sharp enough to spot this overt act of stealing because that's all it is...STEALING. But it's okay because it's called dealer negotiation. Bulls..t.
You make no mention of what you paid for the LX.
When I bought my '95 Camry the contract had a charge of $59 for "computer fee" preprinted in bold lettering. The salesman said he couldn't do anything about that charge as it was preprinted.
I said "I can". And then crossed it out.
It just galls me when someone posts about the pleasant experience they had buying X car from Y dealer.
I will repeat from a previous post: You don't buy a car from a dealer; The dealer sells you a car.
And only when you agree to his numbers. How the f...can you win when you are playing a game that is rigged against you no matter what you think you know or how smart you are, or how good you are at negotiating. Yep! It's a stacked deck.
Why does someone else having a pleasant experience gall you? Some people intentionally don't try for the best deal because they don't want the hassles you are talking about here. They'd rather go to a no-haggle dealership, for example, than play all the games. They may wind up paying a few hundred bucks more for their car, but maybe they figure it's a fair trade for not having to deal with the aggravation that buyers like you go through.
I'm not saying they are right or you are wrong, it's just a different approach that works for some people.
Sal has been to 13 greater New York City Hyundai dealers, and removed from each of them?. :P
Great response btw in that Sonata LX survey forum. I couldn't be happier with both the Car, and the price paid. I did find it interesting that J.D. Powers rated the Sonata 3rd in initial quality (out of 17), in fact the lowest Hyundai behind the Accord & the Camary in the Midsize segment. In the Large segment, the Azera is # 2, and in the compact segment the Elantra is #2, and in the Compact Multi-Activity Vehicle segment, the Hyundai Tucson is # 1. . Read it in the brand new Hyundai Smart Driver Magazine. Did you get that $40 coupon, good for any service at any dealer. I love that publication, and I love my LX!
Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm not talking about the best deal. I'm talking about the dealers right to steal. You can apologize for the dealer all you want but that's all they do is steal money from your pocket. Oh, I forgot...you call it negotiation.
Isn't it convenient for the dealer that these late charges are sometimes discovered after the deal has been completed.
But these salt of the earth dealers wouldn't think of ripping you off-no, it's called negotiating, part of the American folklore.
And if you think you won the first round, then they put you through another torture chamber-the F & I room to deal with a first class talented heist artist.
Oh yes, a pleasant experience between you and the honorable dealer.
PT Barnum had it wrong (he probably never bought a car).
How can there be a sucker born every minute, not when it comes to negotiating with a dealer. We are all lollipops just begging to get fleeced like a duck-quack...quack...quack, please give me back my wallet, oh, mighty dealer.
