No way to sign up over the Internet? I assume there is no cost to subscribe being a Hyundai owner?
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
Maybe it's just the area in which you live. I've run into a few dealers like that where I live (Twin Cities), but also dealt with many who are professional and pleasant to work with. Even the F & I people cease and desist when I tell them "No, thanks" to their various add-ons (although one F & I person saved me some money once by undercutting the interest rate I was going to get on my car loan, so maybe it's worth at least listening to what they have to say). Those are the kinds of dealers I give the first chance to earn my business.

Out East, I think Fitzmall is a Hyundai no-haggle discount dealership. I've not dealt with them but read many reports about them. They seem to stick by their advertised prices. Maybe worth checking out?

There is, and my original Post contained the Hyundai Customer Service telephone # too, but my message was deleted. I have contacted Sylvia with an official complaint.

Sometimes the Internet Police go a bit over board. My e-mail address is public so please feel free to send it there.

Thanks again for trying to help.

We recently went to a Hyundai dealership but found out they moved to a different spots so only Kia remained, They did have a Used 2006 Hyundai Sonata LX with premium package($1,450) with 800 miles and it was a demo car.

Im thinking of offering to pay $20,000 OTD for it. I dont know what the fees will be exactly but the tax here is 4%.

Does anyone know anything bad about demo cars? and if i should have the car checked out somehow?

Also i heard buying a used car gets rid of the warranty or reduces it tremendously :surprise:

    pleae reply Asap!! :D

P.S we could also get a NEW hyundai sonata 2007 GLS AUTO for about $19,500 OTD (4% tax,)with all the warranty and stuff

As for the other fees, it's pretty much average to what everyone else pays, im sorry i dont have the numbers for those fees but please help!!
  • cableguy06cableguy06 Member Posts: 299
I looked into doing the same. If you buy a DEMO, then you get the full 5 year / 60K and 10/100 Powertrain. If you buy USED and not a DEMO, you lose the 10/100 and only get what's remaining on the 5/60.

Sounds like with only 800 miles assuming its still in mint condition, I would think seriously about it. Don't forget to take into account the large rebate offered on 2006 cars too. Maybe $20K OTD is to high?

Got some numbers on the Sonata Limited Standard
Steel Gray with Gray Interior. I wanted black interior but Hyundai Corporate told me that this color combination is not in production and they don't know when it will be.

    MSRP: $23595
    Invoice: $22152
    Internet $-1600
    Rebate: $-1500
    Subtotal: $19052
    Documentation: $189
Out of State transit tag: $25
    OTD: $19266

This does not include TTL which in my case is based on a Vermont registration

This is an internet quote that then said they don't have the car in stock-it would take several days to locate.

This is the way prices on the forum and quotes from dealers should be stated. If these prices don't change, then Towne Hyundai, NJ should do good business in Metro NY.

    What do you think?
  • cableguy06cableguy06 Member Posts: 299
Do it Sal. You won't get much better than this and this will end your aggrevation :D

Remember that if you take the $20,600 people have paid for the Sonata with the Ultimate Package and remove the Ultimate package (about $1600 invoice), that should take you down to about $19K so $19,052 sounds like a great deal to me!!!

Let us know when you have picked up your new car ;)
  • w9cww9cw Member Posts: 888
The best I've been offered for a 2007 Sonata Limited standard is $18,500, excluding TTL here in Illinois. So, it sounds like a reasonable deal.
  • cableguy06cableguy06 Member Posts: 299
w9cw - you can get a 07 Limited for $18,500 and you didn't jump all over that :surprise:

$19K that Sal got is a great deal...your deal is out of sight :shades:
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
$1600 below invoice price BEFORE the rebate is a great price. (Assuming there won't be the dealer add-ons with which you are familiar.)

Jump on that deal. Don't worry about waiting a few days for them to swap the car with another dealer. Jump on it.

wanted black interior but Hyundai Corporate told me that this color combination is not in production and they don't know when it will be.

I will be looking for a black exterior and a black (or gray) interior.

Seems somewhat disappointing that Hyundai would not have any idea when a gray exterior and black interior (a great combination BTW) would be available.

    Trunvestr,

We appear to have a lot in common; we are from the same area; and seem to be having the same problems buying a new car.

I will keep posting on my experiences and I hope you will also.

On the Towne Hyundai quote: The Documentation fee bothers me-this is their breakdown.

    Clerical...$53
    Administrative...$48
    Document Delivery...$88
    Out Of State In-Transit Tag...$25

    Total...$214

In this package, the NJ in-transit tag costs $5 and yet they want $25.

I have to drive to Vermont and pay the TTL to register the car.

So what value am I getting for the doc fee-none. They label each part of the breakdown with fancy descriptive headings and this is supposed to justify the exorbitant fee. I know I come off as hostile in my posts but that's because I have been exposed to all the scams. You want an education about car dealers? Google the car dealer and the Department Of Consumer Affairs. Most of these honorable dealers are not so "honorable."

As for Towne Hyundai, I won't pay the documentation fee. If NYS charges a mandated fee of $45 why should you pay this NJ bloated fee. Global Hyundai in NJ charges a $289 documentation fee-a bigger ripoff and they get away with it.

Puzzles me why. Either consumers don't know or they don't care they are being plucked.

I keep saying and I know it gets monotonous, you can't win the dealer game.
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
    w9cw,

This is a good quote, is it from Pugi Hyundai? There is no way I can get this quote in the NYC metropolitan area.

Have you pursued this quote to see what additional fees may be incurred? The $18500 has to increase but by how much?

The quote I got from Pugi last week was for $18856 but it went no further because I would have to travel 2000 miles round trip. The money saved would not be worth the time and expense of going to Illinois.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
So they are getting, what, maybe $100 or so extra profit off of these fees. Ask yourself: is it still a good deal with those extra charges? If you don't think so, keep looking. If it's still a good deal, go for it.
  • dimon12dimon12 Member Posts: 10
Guys, what do you think is the fair OTD price (or sale price + tax and license) for Sonata Limited in Bay Area? There is 1500 customer cash rebate going on also...
Any information will be greatly appreciated!
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
Read the forum. Different prices have been posted. It seems that geographic area comes into play. The best price for the Standard is $18500 from the Illinois area.

Remember, this a quote. The price you can buy at will be higher.
  • cableguy06cableguy06 Member Posts: 299
Guys, we can all keep going back and forth on this for ever. However, I think the bottom line is this:

    1. If you can find a Limited Ultimate for $20,600...BUY IT!
    2. If you can find a Limited Standard for $19,000...BUY IT!

Everyone seems to be quibbling over a few hundred dollars here and there and, to me, it is far more aggrevation than the few hundred dollars. There will always be someone somewhere who will find the "better deal".

If you can find either of the two cars above for less, STOP SHOPPING and BUY IT :surprise:
  • dimon12dimon12 Member Posts: 10
I assume those figures are sale prices inclusive of dest charge, rebates, fees but before tax and license. Am I correct?
  • cableguy06cableguy06 Member Posts: 299
dimon12 - yes, you are correct. The above prices also have backed out of them the dealership's advertising and hold-back fees so if anyone can get the prices above, they should jump all over them ;)

If they can do better, they should jump twice :D

In a word, yes! Today I purchased a new "1 at this price" 2007 Sonata GLS with Automatic Transmission advertised in the Arizona Republic under Stock #7H177653. The only optional item was Powder White Pearl Paint for $200, bringing the MSRP with destination charge to $19,095. The ad erroneously stated the MSRP was $18,798, subtracted the rebate of $500, and subtracted a dealer discount of $3,409, bringing the Purchase Price to $14,889. In addition, the ad stated an Owner Loyalty of $1,000 would apply "if you qualify". (Hyundai's Owner Loyalty Incentive was actually $500, but the dealer agreed to honor its ad by crediting an additional $500.)
In reality, the rebate and owner loyalty incentive are not deducted from MSRP but are instead applied against the total purchase price (sales price + tax, title, license and doc prep fee). Even so, the final out-the-door cost in my case was $15,839.03.
My hat is off to this dealer who, despite wrongly stating the MSRP, despite wrongly applying the manufacturer's rebate to reduce the purchase price, and despite a $500 error in the Owner Loyalty incentive, honored their advertised terms. The dealer is North Scottsdale Hyundai, and I highly recommend them based on my experience.
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
I don't think it would include dealer fees such as documentation and maybe administrative fees and maybe goodies such as window etching, pin striping, door edge guards, etc.
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
I can just imagine a NY Dealer selling this car at the price you got it for. They would have their salesmen and managers hit you with every scam in the book and then some.

Good Luck with your bonanza of a buy.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
That's great that the dealer honored their ads even though they were in error. But I wonder why they were offering such a huge dealer discount, especially for a nice color like Powder White Pearl. Did they say anything about that? Was it a one-only special just to drive people into the dealership?
  • w9cww9cw Member Posts: 888
sligg - sri, I've been out of town celebrating our second Thanksgiving meal with the family! Yes, the quote is from Pugi in Downers Grove, IL. The only add on above the figure is tax, title, and license fees. I bought a 2006 Elantra from them on Christmas Eve last year, and plan to do the same thing with th 2007 Sonata Limited this year. I don't live in Downers Grove, rather in Champaign-Urbana, home of the University of Illinois, about 145 miles south. Great dealer, and no "mickey mouse stuff," just good prices and probably the best delivery experience of any new car I've ever purchased.

Take a one-way flight to O'Hare or Chicago Midway out of LGA, EWR, or JFK, and drive your new car home! They would probably pick you up at the airport. Good folks . . .
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
    w9cw,

Your quote from Pugi was $18500. The quote Pugi gave me was $18765. Why do you think there is a $265 difference? I think they also said the doc fee was $53.

Assuming you can get the car for $19000 in NY Metro then it would not be cost effective to fly to Chicago. That's a lot of ifs'.
  • w9cww9cw Member Posts: 888
Perhaps the difference is because I've purchased a Hyundai from them recently - maybe repeat customers get a slightly better deal, I don't know???

If you can get the car in the NY Metro area for $19K - go for it.

    Hi,

I am looking for finding out the best price quotes folks got for a 2007 Hyundai Sonata GLS 4 cylinder (Base Model) and no additional packages in DFW Metroplex. Can you folks help me with the best price quote you got for this model ? I am open in buying timeframe...in the sense I can wait till end of year 2006 if that is going to make any difference in price.

    Thanks
    Mike

Have you checked at Freeman Hyundai? They are advertising one on their web site for just under $16,000.00.
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
Corporate Hyundai just called me to say that the black interior for the Sonata Limited is in production and is now available nationwide.

They also said that I'm eligible to participate in their Associate Purchase Program which allows me to buy the car at $100 above invoice. They would refund the $100 after purchase.

I'm also in the market to buy an '07 Limited in the Bay Area and will hopefully get some quotes this week.

On a different note, has anyone had any experience using DriveOne from CapitalOne? They're showing a price of 21,102 for a Limited w/Ultimate pkg after 1500 rebate but I'm assuming before destination charge and TTL.
  • dimon12dimon12 Member Posts: 10
Bought a 07 Limited (base + floor mats) last Saturday for 21650 OTD at Doten Hyundai, Richmond. The price could have been improved upon slightly if I were to spend more time which I didn't want to. Fair price, good dealership experience - it's all good...
  • cableguy06cableguy06 Member Posts: 299
Sal, you can do better than $100 over invoice by just going to the dealership :confuse:
  • gohyundaigohyundai Member Posts: 4
    18.9K OTD
    including:
    $25 title
    $250 documentation
    6.5% tax
  • phmusicphmusic Member Posts: 5
That price from DriveOne is better than the $21,877
quote I got from Cars Direct, including destination
charge, but before TTL. If the DriveOne price includes
the destination charge than I'd say jump on it fast.

Don't forget the Sonata rebate ends 11/30.

Don't forget the Sonata rebate ends 11/30.

And, no doubt, will be extended and probably increased in January if not earlier.
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
Why do you think the Sonata rebate will be increased?

I'm wondering if the Sonata is selling well? I'm not kidding, I rarely see any in the metro NY area. I go to Aquaduct racetrack mostly everyday and walking through the parking lot I pass hundreds of parked cars. There is no question that Toyota/Honda/Nissan dominate the auto market. I have seen only two Sonatas. Of the many people I know, only one has bought a Sonata.

To repeat my question: Is the Sonata selling well?

Received an email from Plaza Hyundai in Brooklyn NY informing me that the color combination I'm looking for will be available December 14. The internet price for the car is $18995 but they don't say if destination is included, if rebate is deducted, or if there other dealer charges.

Dealers should learn how to give quotes or maybe they are deliberately evasive? I replied to the email asking these questions and as usual you get "When do you want to come in to discuss the deal."
  • trunvestrtrunvestr Member Posts: 32
I agree with you Sal on several points. I think you and I are pretty much looking for the same car. I want the Ebony Black LTD Sonata with the 08 option pkg. But I'm looking for the beige interior. I'm trying to get pricing now from Towne in NJ and Atlantic Hyundai in West Islip, NY. I'm not at all concerned about the $1,500 rebate ending tomorrow. If it does it does. I've been looking around and as nice as the Sonata looks most of the cars I pass on I95 or in NYC are from Toyota or Honda. Ideally the Sonata s/b jumping off the shelf but if incentives are need to get the public to buy then the Salespeople s/b all over it and stop playing games.
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
Towne is straight except they want to add the doc fee of $189.

    Atlantic plays games.

The Sonata will never be a leading seller because of it's perception. Too many people think of it as a cheap Korean car with a lot of problems.

    We know better don't we.

I stopped looking for November. My next attempt will be the last week of Christmas. I'm going to change my method. Rather than ask for a quote, I will give the OTD Im willing to pay which will be $19000 for the Standard with cargo mat, floor mats, mud guards. There will be no negotiations because it hasn't worked for me playing by their rules and on their territory.

If you want, give me your phone number and time and I will call you to talk about your purchase.

I am ready to buy an 07 GLS in NYS, and absolutely positively need it by the end of December. I'm a little nervous about hanging on until Christmas week; my current 1988 Mazda runs, but it's shakey. Any predictions about incentives for December, and how much would I stand to pay "extra" if I get it in the next couple of weeks as opposed to waiting for Christmas-end of month incentives?

  • jack47jack47 Member Posts: 312
While there is a good probability that there will be incentives in December (in the UK present rebates run through Dec. 31) and you might even get a better deal around the end of the year....just remember...the old adage...about a bird in the hand being worth two in the bush.

All the more so as you really can't wait inasmuch as your old clinker is on its last legs...or is that...last wheels.

I JUST bought a 2007 "Platinum Edition" Sonata. There was only one in the entire Fitzgerald Auto Mall inventory and they just got it in that day (only 13 miles). I also saw 3 LTD editions with a "delivery price" ranging from $19990 to $21500, but I impulsively went for the PE. The price was about $950 more than the fully equipped LTD (which also had over 350 test-driven miles!), but I was sold as soon as I saw the all-black leather interior -- the chrome moldings and rear spoiler was also a plus. I went with the 2.9%/$500 rebate in leiu of the $1500 rebate, so the total price out the door was $24,005. Here's the breakdown:

    $22,442 (delivered price)
    + $1500 (no rebate offer)
    - $500 (alternate rebate offer)
    - $500 (loyalty owner offer)
    - $369 ("Internet Price" discount)
    - $50 (Fitz coupon toward purchase of new car)
    + $1181 (5% sales tax)
    + $99 (Processing fee)
    + $202 (Tax & Title)
    Total = $24,005

I may not have gotten the best deal around, but I got to put zero down. And with only 2.9% APR, I'm gonna invest the $7,500 I had planned as my downpayment.
  • shiwalashiwala Member Posts: 18
Just curious...what color was it? My wife likes the black interior of the Plat Ed. but we've only seen it with silver exterior (which she just won't have!)
  • phmusicphmusic Member Posts: 5
I'm pleased with the deal I got; bought the car yesterday
from Fuccillo Hyundai in Canoga Park. They were the only dealer with exactly the color I wanted (black w/beige interior)and an excellent price.

    2007 Sonata Limited w/Ultimate package
price after rebate: $21,200 (less than Cars Direct quote)
    doc fee: $45
    sales tax: $1,876
    TTL: $220

    total: $23,341

FYI: Fuccillo also has dealerships in NY

    PH in LA
  • jack47jack47 Member Posts: 312
I'm pretty sure it only comes in silver and black.
  • shiwalashiwala Member Posts: 18
Looking at the brochure, there are 9 exterior colors that are available with black interior. The only black interior swatch is leather. Perhaps we'll see the plat editions in more colors. Or maybe the brochure is just wishful thinking.
  • sliggsligg Member Posts: 109
Now that's a clean deal. The way all car buys should be.

    Good Luck.

Where in NY state and under what name?
  • xj220xj220 Member Posts: 78
The Platinum Edition only comes in Silver exterior / Black interior. In fact, I think all PE's are exactly the same (no options, except dealer accessories).

The black interior you saw in the brochures, according to the service manager last night, is for non-leather interior. I don't think that's true since there was no "black non-leather interior" in the brochure, but who knows. Anyways, I think the black interior is nice enough that they will add it to future trims/ exterior colors, perhaps the one that will come out later in 2007.

I will try and post some pictures soon of the interior and exterior, for those who haven't seen it yet. You can judge for yourself if it's worth the extra dough/wait for the possibility it may come in different colors. I did like the Silver Blue exterior. The color looked the best IMO.
