On the surface of it, the deal resembles offers I've seen advertised in my local paper for a '07 Sonata GLS at $199/month for 30 months with no money down. But that is without the $1000 "loyalty" rebate, so that would reduce the monthly payments to around what you are paying. If you look at other lease deals out there (and you probably did), this is really a low payment for a nicely-equipped mid-sized car.
As for buying at lease end, you have 30 months to decide that. Maybe you won't want to keep the car past 30 months. But if you do, when the lease is close to expiring, check out the price of other used Sonatas of the same year/mileage/comdition and see if $10.1k is a good deal. Keep in mind that you can try to negotiate a lower buy-out price when the lease is due to expire--I've done that successfully before.
The Sonata SE has a Preferred Package and a post factory installed remote starter which will be installed by the dealer's contact next week. I may check into that choice, though, and change my mind. Their contact is charging $495 plus tax for the remote starter and installation. The dealer could not give me answers to my general questions like the brand that will be used and if the starter can be programmed to the cars' remote fobe.
So, I'm pretty satisfied with the purchase. I had a rental car that was left in the dealer's parking lot to be picked up by Enterprise, so that was convenient. By the way, Towne Hyundai has given me a referral certificate, if anyone out there is interested in the details, send me a private message.
Here's my deal:
17,023 based on internet pricing
495 remote starter
1,366 7% tax based on pre-rebate price
tire tax
254 NJMV
189 document fees
My partner picked up '07 SE from Towne Hyundai yesterday and the deal was as promised, with one exception. Partner told me the monthly payment is about $5 more than I had pegged it at using financial calculator. I did see the car yesterday and it is beautiful. But, I noticed it has that stupid window etching, which could account for the $5/ month price difference. He hadn't notice it. I would have refused it.
I'll get to review the paper work tomorrow.
Hyundai's rebates/incentives expire on 2/28. There will most likely be a new incentive program, but it may not be as attractive.
Salesman told partner that as of yeserday, they had sold 70 Sonata's so far in Feb, representing about half of their Hyundai sales in Feb.
I saw a charcol car yesterday and it was a striking looking car...looked all cleaned and detailed.

How about that exorbitant $189 documentation fee? NY State has a maximum of $45. Why would you pay it?
My wife has an 07 LTD w/out the stereo upgrade. I think her speakers are stock.
I have an 06 LX w/out the stereo upgrade. I think my speakers are stock as well.
Please confirm or deny. I am thinking of upgrading mine with Infinity components. I've had them before, and LOVE the way they sound, especially the tweeters.
2) I don't care how a dealership allocates the cost. I just want to know the bottom line. When I bought the '05 Sonata, for my use, the doc fee was almost $100 higher than the local dealer but the total purchase price was about $1500 less. What did I care about the doc fee? It could have been $5,000, but the price before TTL was still $1500 less. I'd rather pay under $17K plus a $189 doc fee than pay over $18K plus a $45 doc fee. :P
3) As I said, I won't see the purchase contract until 2/26, but if the price was $16,900 before TTL, that is still $5,000 below MSRP and still a great deal.
I will keep everyone informed once I get to review the figures.
If the doc fee is $189 and that's more than NY, what diff does it make if OTD I'm still saving $500 to $2,500 over NY prices. It makes NO difference I'll pay the high doc fee and still have more money in my pocket.
It probably takes 10 minutes or less to do all the windows on the car. Do it yourself kits are available for something like $20-$30. Total waste of money 1) to even have it done and 2) to pay $2 or 3 hundred bucks for the dealer to do it.
I won't know what was done to increase the base price until I get to see the figures tomorrow.
$19,151 Price of car, including floor mats & destination
$1149.06 CT 6% sales tax
189.00 Doc fee
200.00 "NJ supplemental titling fee" incl CT reg, title & temp NJ reg while processing paper with CT
$20,689 total cost before rebate
-1,000 general rebate
-1,000 HMFC financing rebate (5.9% for 60 months)
- 500 owner loyalty
Net out the door total cost = $18,189.06.
My calculation of the monthly payment did not include $51 for floor mats or the $200 title and registration (which should have been about $100, so they probably have a charge for paper processing). The monthly payment was also slightly affected by the first payment due date being April 8, which is about 7 weeks from delivery date (an extra 3 weeks of interest on the full amount of the loan.)
I'm quite satisfied with this deal and would recommend it. Again, looking at the bottom line, I don't care how much of it is for doc fee or if there was paper processing charges for title and registration.
P.S. They did not charge for window etching. Even though it's preprinted on the contract at $185 they did not add it in to the cost.
I wonder what the dealers are paying for these cars at auction?

Great experience, people were very friendly (espcially my salesman).
I simply faxed, emailed my local dealers. Right of the back Atlantic offered the best price, which other dealers questioned their offer for being too low.
My out-the-door price was $19,932.00 for base limited with floor mats, cargo mat and net. (-$1,000 reg. rebate + -$1,000 for financing thru hyundai.)
Saved my self trip to fitzmall, and was able go gain a very nice car buying experience.
1. I had my 2006 Elantra GLS 5 dr. stick shift with ABS package on sale at Cars.com. I hoped to get around $12,000 but would have settled for around $11,500
2. I emailed Bob Dunn Automotive told them I was selling my car (I had a very interested buyer) and asked if they could match the Fitzmall price.
3. Lee, their salesman emailed me back and said they could match the price if I could buy it by 2/28 (today).
4. On 2/27 the interested buyer backed out. Lee, from Bob Dunn emailed me and asked if there was anything they could do to close the deal. I asked them if they could pay me $11,300 for my Elantra.
5. Today Lee emailed me back the following deal:
MSRP - $19,530
Sale Price - $16,500
Rebates - $2,500 (including $500 Hyundai loyalty)
Trade Allowance - $11,300
Payoff - ~$6,000
Tag - $69
Taxes - $156
Document Fee $399.30
Out the Door/Amount Financed - $9,324.30*
Plus I avoided paying 3% on $11,300 in sales tax ($330)(so my effective sales for my Elantra was $11,630)
My net cost was $14,620 including $156 tax & $69 tags. So the car cost was under $14,400. Plus I didn't have to mess with selling my car, transferring the plates, etc.
Lee was great to deal with and there were no surprises.
Bob Dunn Automotive in Greensboro is VERY HIGHLY recommended!!
While you showed trade allowance and payoff on the trade you did bring it back to the actual cost of your new Sonata.
Someone will gripe at you about the "high doc fee." But, heck, it is included in your $14,400ish price.
Great deal. Good luck. Enjoy it.
I purchased the Deep Water blue. Did you purchase an ebony black with black interior?
My out-the-door price was $19,932. This included TTL, and with the rebates deducted. I had total of $2,000 in rebates.
My options were carpeted floor mats, cargo mat, and cargo net.
Can you share your information as well? Such as price, options, rebates, how did you shop (walk-in, fax-attack, negotiations thru many dealers etc.).
I fax-attacked / emailed exactly 26 dealers around the area, and atlantic offered the best deal.
All the emails were replied, however 4 gave me a quote, while other one asked me to offer the person #s.
For those who responded with calls, I don't have the exact numbers as I have already disregarded all the papers. Except for the letters that I faxed, hence I have the number of 26 faxes.
It was somewhere around 10 by phone (both of my phones were ringing simultaneously.) Could be bit more, but no less then 10. So overall it was about 15. About half of those weren't attractive.
Edit: One of the dealer just called me with an offer. March 1st.
Perhaps we did see eachother, as I remember passing by a couple who were looking at the black on black outside. Very good color choice, black interior looked very sharp. Good luck with your car, and one more question. Did you get XM as well?
MSRP As stated on my car's sticker, $24,215.00
The rain stopped! thank goodness
Edit: There are only 2 packages avail. for limited trim.
Ultimate Pkg, or Platinum Pkg.
Though you weren't interested in XM radio, to my knowledge it is standard on the newer built (model 26462) 2007 Limited Sonata. They give you a 3 month trial. My point though is that this newer built car has audio controls on the steering wheel that controls the CD player and controls your AM/FM radio also. The Sonata without XM is a discontinued model. Not sure how the salesman didn't know this.
I don't know the exact details of audio controls for 25242 vs 26242, I believe your referring to mode button. It lets you scroll between cd / am / fm / xm. THere are also small, very hard to notice volume controls on left side behind the mode and updown buttons.

I was also looking at a 2007 Camry LE starting at $19381 at a Toyota dealership, also in the paper this weekend.
(I sort of lean towards a Toy since my 2001 CamryCE now has 172k on it and still running strong, but the Sonata SE appears to be less than $2k than the Toys. BTW: I use 100% synthetic oil in all my cars since the mid 90's)
How do the Sonata's hold up for highway high mileage driving, and what kind of MPG's highway can I expect?
Thanks,
Dave
Wow, what a deal you got! That is the lowest price that I have seen so far. May I ask what the total price out the door was? What kind of rebates did you get and are they still available? Did you buy on the internet or did you use a salesman. I really want to purchase this car. Is there any features that you don't like on your car?
