Does the $19,739 include the $2,000 rebate?
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
Check the owner's manual for specifics, but in general vary your speed (i.e. don't use cruise on the highway) and avoid high revs (including full-throttle starts) and hard braking for the first 1000 miles or so.
  • bg523bg523 Member Posts: 4
it does include the 2000 rebate.

Hi! I dont know where you are located but Roseville Hyundai in Sacramento, CA is advertising 07 GLS for 13,988. I am not sure if this is manual or auto. That will give you some idea.

Is there anybody living around Cleveland? I'm in the market for sonata GLS. Today I got a quote for the Sonata GLS with premium sport package about $19000 OTD. did you get any better offer than this? it's too high for me.
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
Do some internet checking. We got an '07 Sonata SE w/ XM OTD for $18,189 in Feb. from Towne Hyundai in Denville, NJ.

Of course the SE w/ XM is a higher priced car than the GLS with Premium Package. Check with them...it may or may not be worth your while to take a trip to NJ.

Check their website, dealer name dot com. Great people to deal with, no hidden charges, pressure or other "tricks."

Another good source for internet pricing is fitzmall.com
    They are in Maryland

For us, Towne Hyundai's price was over $800 better than Fitz; plus Towne was only 100 miles away compared to about 300+ miles for Fitz.

It all depends upon each buyer's situation.

Fitz is very good. In our situation, Towne was much beter. Towne is currently selling Sonata's at $3900 under invoice (plus $189 doc fee). I don't think owner loyalty is available at this time.
  • kst1kst1 Member Posts: 22
Just confirmed that 13988 is for manual and 15558 is for auto 4 cylinder 07 GLS at Roseville Hyundai.
  • jack47jack47 Member Posts: 312
Did that price (18,189) nclude sales tax, registration and doc fee? BTW, how do you like it?

I'm interested in a SE and am only about 60 miles from Towne Hyundai.
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
The $18,189 did include 6% sales tax (for CT) registration and doc. fee. It also included $500 loyalty discount. The price including all rebates/discounts in effect in February, was $1800 under invoice, $1,000 general rebate, $1,000 rebate for financing with HMFC @ 5.9% for 5 years (lower rates for shorter term financing) and $500 owner loyalty.

Check their web site for current deals and then phone them.

My company bought the car, there are only two of us in the company. My brother drives this car (mine is an '05) and is still raving about the car, the MPG --about 21 based mainly on trips of less than 10 miles--the all the features. His previous car was a '94 Olds 98 . He swears the Sonata rides better and is so much quieter.

A friend of mine bought an Azera from Towne a couple weeks ago and he, too, is quite impressed, with the car and the dealership.

I bought an '07 Sonata Limited with Ultimate pkg, pre-XM, used (apparently the previous owner's wife wanted an SUV instead)with 2600 miles, for $18,580 before TTL. Dealership in Tinley Park, IL included the 10/100,000 warranty. Silver blue with grey leather, very nice. I just upgraded the radio remote to the new style, now changes CD tracks and radio stations, plus volume, from the steering wheel. So far, with the exception of mpg, I'm happy. MPG not terrible, but lower than my Chrysler LHS that I traded in.
  • bobadbobad Member Posts: 1,587
    Congratulations on your nice Sonata.

Stand back and look at the size of the car, inside and out. Check out the trunk, and back seat room. Take note of the the height of the car, and compare it to other cars. Mash the pedal a little, and see how quickly it accelerates from 50 up to to 80mph.

Bottom line, this is a big, heavy (3400 pounds), safe, roomy, powerful sedan. It's an EPA large size car, not a medium size. That means you will have to suffer a 3-4 mpg disadvantage compared to the smaller, lighter competition. But,,, looking on the bright side, you will be suffering in complete comfort and safety. ;)

I just got my GLS 2007 with premium sports package from Fitzmall, MD for 17,850 OTD price with VA taxes. Hope that helps.

I also got a quote in Fairfax Hyundai for the same amount, but they didnt have the color and package I wanted.
  • shaw800shaw800 Member Posts: 4
I live in cleveland, Can I buy car from Fizmall, MD? or Towne Hyundai? How about the delivery? I don't want to be there and drive back.
I check the post. it seems all of you bought your sonata from these two dealers and all of you are very close to these two dealers.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
Anyone can buy a car from Fitzmall (and I expect also from Towne). As for not driving it back home, you can talk to them about shipping it to you, but after you factor in the cost of that you might be better off buying from a local dealer.

    Hi!
Re: $3900 under invoice (I did checked their wedbsite)-I know it includes hyundai rebate ($2K)+ $500coupon; however, does it includes hyundai $500 loyalty rebate and $1000 rebate for financing through HMFC? I would like to know before I go down NJ to buy Sonata. I live in upstate new york, and can not find good deal up here. This forum is a great help! Thanks to all...
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
The owner loyalty & special HMFC rebates were manufacturer discounts. I don't see them listed on the Hyundai site for this month. However, our deal was $1K general rebate plus the financing rebate, so the current $2K general rebate equals that. While it looks like Hyundai is not offering the loyalty rebate this month, Towne Hyundai is selling the car at an extra $100 below invoice from when we bought.

Give them a call...they'll give you straight answers to any of your questions. Tell them the guys from CT said "hi."

    Hi All,

After much research (in Edmunds.com!), I have decided upon a 2007 Sonata GLS with Premium Package. I'm in Levittown, PA and the prices I have got so far are:

    Mccafferty Hyundai - 17,100 OTD
Brad Benson Hyundai - 16800 OTD
    Towne Hyundai - 16600 OTD

Towne Hyundai seems to be offering the cheapest prices but they are 80 miles away from my home. If I buy from Towne Hyundai, I cannot go there everytime for servicing my car and I have to get the car serviced with a nearby dealership which is Mccafferty or Burlington City Hyundai.

Do you think this is a OTD good price for GLS + PP? Please note that this includes Tax & tags.

Will other dealerships accept servicing a car that they did not sell? I know that they "technically" have to service the car, but will I get the same levels of service as a person who bought the car from them? For e.g., I'd like to buy the car from Towne Hyundai and get it serviced by Mccafferty right from the first scheduled service. This might seem a strange question, but I'm new to the United States and though I have been able to arm myself with extensive knowledge on car buying thanks to Edmunds, I'm stumped on this one.

    Thanks in advance for answering!!

Will other dealerships accept servicing a car that they did not sell?

Certainly. I have had many vehicles, including two Hyundais, serviced at dealerships other than the ones from which I purchased/leased the car. One thing you won't get from another dealer is any special service arrangement which new-car buyers get. For instance, the Hyundai dealer closest to me offers free oil changes for life plus a few other perks to people who buy a new car there. So I don't get those perks. But this dealer did honor maintenance coupons (for free oil changes and other discounts) that I negotiated for when I bought my current Hyundai from another dealer. And their service has been much better than the service at the selling dealer.

    Thanks Backy,

Do you think the prices are ok, especially the one from Towne Hyundai?
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
dhilip, if you're not sure if it's a good price, just check the invoice price listed here on Edmunds for the trim line and options you want. Then subtract $3900 from that invoice price to see what Town will charge you. Of course you'll have to add $189 doc fee plus tax & registration.

You should also confirm the deal over the phone. They stand by what they say, no last minute surprises.

It's up to you to determine if the price is "OK." Where else are you going to buy "the same car" for $3900 under INVOICE? In your internet search be sure to differentiate between car with or without XM. There's about a $300 retail price difference, something like $250 invoice price difference.
  • dhilipdhilip Member Posts: 6
    Thanks bhmr59,

I do know that there is a $300 difference in MSRP for the ones with XM. As you said, I did the math taking the average invoice price listed on Edmunds and the OTD comes to 16400. Will speak to Towne tomorrow and see what they have to say. Even otherwise I guess Towne Hyundai is the place to go. Good to know that they stand by their prices.

    :confuse: Hi:

I paid 16K for a GLS Automatic 4 cylinder with moonroof option. Dont know if it was a good buy. I thought it was but now not sure since I messed up about the rebate. I bought a Santa Fe, GLS basic edition also for 20,250. In my calculation, I forgot that the rebate for sonata was 2000 instead of the 1000 as for the santa fe. Also forgot the hyundai owner rebate. This purchase was from Ohio.

So total for 07 sonata gls with moonroof and 07 santa fe gls without moonroof 38,250. Cash paid.
  • bobadbobad Member Posts: 1,587
On the bright side, you got 2 very nice vehicles for 38K. That's almost like 2 for the price of 1. ;)
  • shaw800shaw800 Member Posts: 4
could you tell me which dealer you bought your sonata?
  • amp06amp06 Member Posts: 2
This is a question regarding the $2000 rebate on new 2007 Sonatas (May 16 - May 31). Does anyone know if you have to finance through HMFC to get the rebate?

I'm just looking for the rebate, not any rebate+APR deals.

    Thanks.
  • mstemmstem Member Posts: 113
A quick surf over to hyundaiusa.com shows that the $2000 rebate is a straight rebate, not tied to any financing issue. You can have EITHER the $2000, or a subsidized finance rate. Nice deal, I think it was only $1000 when I bought mine. I did get the additional $500 for "owner loyalty!" Anything helps I guess... luv my 2007 Sonata Limited. Mike

I'm in Jax, FL. I'm ready to buy a 2007 GLS Premium Package ($500 msrp option) with floor mats. Edmunds says $16,800. I have cash. Any opinons on what price I should shoot for? I'm getting quotes now. No offers yet. It's painful getting quotes, they all want a phone call or me to come in.
  • ankmcflyankmcfly Member Posts: 1
I just bought this car 2 weeks ago. Sticker $21,030.00 Got it for $17300.00
This includes rebate but not tax and title. Does this seem like a decent deal?
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
There are better deals in some areas. It all depends on what deals are available in your area or how far you are willing to travel to get a better deal.
  • rhduke00rhduke00 Member Posts: 129
Fitzgerald Auto Malls lists a vehicle with the same options for an internet price of $16035. I would use that fact as leverage and try and get the vehicle (XM, floor mats, and option pkg 2) for $16,000 or less.

I would appreciate pricing assistance from anyone recently purchasing a 4 cyl Sonata GLS with just the Premium Sport Package (pkg 04) and the carpeted floor mats in the St. Louis area. I have had some good luck when people give me some of their recently paid prices along with the dealership they used. I would be immensely grateful for any assistance.

    Thanks!!!! :P

I have never seen this line on any car I have purchased.....
  • jamesd1057jamesd1057 Member Posts: 18
It's a line of crap. Bottom line 15453+399=15853 is the price for the car.
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
Dealer fees aka documentation fees, doc. fees or conveyance fees have been around for decades. They used to be minimal (my '91 Chrysler had a $79 fee). Then the State government stepped in to "help the buyer", requiring dealers to register their "doc fees" (that's the way it is in CT anyway). These registered fees must be charged on every sale. (But the dealer can eliminate the fee buy lowering the purchase price.)

My business bought me an '05 Sonata 2 years ago from Florida. The doc fee was $479. Local CT dealer's doc fee was $398. But the bottom line was $1800 less from FL. The business just bought my brother an '07 Sonata from NJ. The doc fee was $189.

These fees are usually preprinted on the sales/purchase order, so you may not have noticed the fee. If you still have it, look over your last purchase order. 10 to 1 odds it's listed.

This is why it's important to list a complete break down of prices paid. Price paid should include selling price of car plus dealer (doc) fee. Registration and taxes vary from state to state and aren't necessary. Trade-in values often murky the picture. Most people trading-in a car don't know what they really paid for the new car.

Example: Our purchase in February; $1800 below invoice, $1,000 rebate, $1,000 rebate for financing with HMFC and $500 owner loyalty = $16,651. Add $189 doc fee plus tax, registration & title = $18,189 for a car with a list price of $22,080 plus tax, reg & title.
  • chuck1chuck1 Member Posts: 1,405
Doc fees I have heard of. However, the "Doc Fees" are limited to I believe $49.00 in California.
How much should the dealer charge for doing the legal paperwork and sending it to your state's DMV offices?

That's what the Doc Fee is for, isn't it?
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
Doc fees might be limited in CA, but they'e not limited in all states. They are a dealer add-on.

All fees paid to (and retained) by the dealer should be considered as part of the price of the car

I just bought a silver 2007 Sonata GLS w/sunroof. Although not in St.Louis, I bought mine in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and I walked out of the lot paying exactly $18,127.36 after tax and tags. There was a $2500 rebate on the car, and I did trade in a very old Mazda Miata which got me $1700 of the Sonata price. -Brian
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
Did that $18,127.36 (OTD) include the $1700 trade-in allowance, or did you pay $16,427.36 (OTD)after deducting the value of your trade-in? Automatic or manual shift, any packages or options other than the sunroof?
  • briank4251briank4251 Member Posts: 4
The $18,127.36 was the total cost after the rebate and the trade-in. I drove the car off the lot paying the $18,127.36. I did pay this amount in "cash" (no loan) so I don't know if that saves me anything. I'm not too familiar with how this car transaction stuff works. My Sonata is an automatic... a 4 cylinder... has fabric seats... has XM (I prefer Sirius and want to change that). It DOESN'T have the heated seats... the homelink mirror system... and the adjustable gas pedal. I'm not sure which package I have, but this info will probably tell you what I do have. I've been nailing about 31 mpg on the highway and about 24 mpg city, which to me seems impressive. I was torn between that light khaki green and the silver, but chose the silver at the end. I think the Sonata is way more appealing than the Camry. When I pass a Sonata on the road and compare it to the other cars, the Sonata stands out by a mile!

Oh wait, my Miata got me $1500 off, not $1700. Oops... sorry! And I did get some protection program from the dealer that cost me $750. I think it was some kind of "ding fix" protection, a window security number (whatever that is), and something that gives me $2000 if the car is stolen or something (I don't know, lol). Everything totaled the $18,127.36 ... -Brian
  • ntflyntfly Member Posts: 2

    Total Out the Door: $15,434.05
