    kst1,
Let me first say, I hate buying cars. In my opinion, they are a large dealer. One of the sales managers was high pressure and slightly rude. The salesman was a little slippery like many are. That said, the finance guy was great, he did not push gap, add ons or other features. I went in knowing what I wanted, I put there ad down and pointed at the car in the ad, said that is what I want at that price. They had several colors to choose from. Their ad states that they have what they advertise and not only one. I found that to be true.
So if you can tolerate the normal routine and stick to your guns, you can get what you want at a good price.

Be very careful at Colonial, they are a shady dealership that never has what they advertise. I went there for a price two weeks ago after pricing at Carousel Hyundai in West Chester PA. Not only did Colnial not have the advertised price the place is a dump (Lot,Showroom,Service) I really do not think they will be around in a year or two. Ask to see the service department (I know it can be dirty and still have good service but this place was bad)They also play the key game, we got ready to leave and we asked for our keys back from what we were trading and were told someone else had them and they were on break. I went into sales managers office and grabed them off his desk. We went back to Carousel and bought a 2007 LTD Platinum edition. Not pusing Carousel but just saying be very careful at Colonial Hyundai of Downingtown, PA.

bought a 2007 LTD Platinum edition

Mind giving a breakout of what you paid...or, at least, the basic price before any add ons...like tags, tax, doc fees, etc. It can be a big help to those of us in the market for a new sonata....even though not in your area.

    Thanks.

I paid a total of $16,300 out of the door for a GLS I4 with the premium package (mileage was 13 miles). I figured out that the price is about $15,300. The basic without the premium package is about $500 less.
I believe I could get a better deal but it was late Feb 28 and I must buy before the dealer closes to get the rebates/discounts. I love the car!

The 07 Limited, when you purchase either the Ultimate or Platinum Edition Pkgs, comes with the Infinity 7 spkrs 6 CD changer System, which is pretty sweet if I may say so. I purchased mine yesterday See the post dated 3/14/2007 on page 742. (Subject: @007 Hyundai Sonata Limited with the Platinum Edition Pkg and Garmin nuvi 360). :shades:

Curious if the Garmin Nuvi 360 you mention came with your new Sonata? Reason I ask is one was "thrown in" with my 07 Limited when I purchased the vehicle on December 30th. Was pretty shocked to find out how highly-rated the Nuvi was... have used it several times on trips and it is way cool! Enjoy your new ride, and your new GPS!

    mstem

I specifically asked for the Garmin nuvi 360 along with the Platinum Edition Pkg and made them the offer on the price I was willnig to pay.

So you say one was thrown in when you purchased in 12/30/2006 huh? If you don't mind my asking, what did you end up paying? Including the original price (before rebates), price after rebates but before T.T.&L and OTD price.

You too enjoy your new ride as well as GPS! :D :shades:

In Dallas Texas area, I bought a Sonata SE 3 weeks ago and got a $1000 HMFC rebate for a conventional loan + $1000 Hyundai rebate. I later found out that HMFC also offers a $3450 rebate if you do the Balloon note financing. I believe the deal is for 30 month ballon with a payment of like $11,031 on month 31. Before you freak out on the word "Balloon" I have run this several different ways and it is a great deal. A dealer in this area had the SE for $15400 after rebates with the balloon financing. There are no hidden fees on the balloon. It can be refinanced after 3 months. I ended up getting $17,700 for an SE with tinted windows, pin stripe, and floor mats and was feeling pretty good till if found out about the $3450 for balloon financing. That would have brought my price down to $15,250 had they just told me about it.

I purchased a 2007 Sonata GLS with premium package for $13700 + TTL. Mileage on the car was 50. This is after HFMC $3450 rebate. I think it is a good deal. This is in Austin.
  • lukatlukat Member Posts: 3
I don't see it on the Hyundai website or HFMC website. I'm not doubting its real since several posters have mentioned it just find it weird I can't find a thing on it on any Hyundai site. Thanks!
  • astateastate Member Posts: 2
I agree that it is not there. It may be a deal only available in Texas and a few other states. But it is there. This is a link to an ad in the Dallas Morning news. I called the dealer to verify that it was an SE when it says Sonata V6. Read the fine print at the bottom. I was told that this is an alternative to a lease. If you are paying the residual at the end of the balloon it does not matter what the mileage is. You only have to pay the $11,031. Not only that, the payments for the first 30 months are reduced by any down payment or trade in. It is possible for the dealer to have to pay you to get the car and you would have not payments for the first 30 months before the balloon comes due. I would have had a payment of around $80/month for 30 months. I would have put another $270 into savings (I can afford $350/month payment) for the 30 months and would have had almost enough to pay the balloon. At worst I would have to finance $3,000 when the balloon was due. You can also just refinance with your credit union 3 months into the deal and pay it off. It would be well worth the extra $2400 rebate.

Congrats to flipflops and tomkc. Great price! It sounds too good to be true. You guys got LTD sonata around 20K (TTL included), right? Is the dealer atlantichyundai.com? I'd like to drive 200 miles to grab one. Thanks in advance to confirm this post.
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
hli, also check townehyundai.com in Denville, NJ. They're currently offering internet pricing of Sonata at $1500 under invoice, less $1K rebate, less $1K for financing with HMFC, less owner loyalty if you qualify. They charge $189 doc fee. Of course you have to add tax and registration fees paid to the government.

Last month they were $1800 under invoice ($300 better deal). We got an '07 Sonata SE/XM for $16,651 plus $189 doc fee + 6% CT sales tax plus $200 for registration, title and processing that paper work. Price included Hyundai owner loyalty (bought buy our 2 person business) and optional floor mats, no other options.

Good luck where ever you buy. I have an '05. My partner (brother) cannot stop singing praises for the '07 after having it for a month.
  • tomkc53tomkc53 Member Posts: 12
Yes, that is correct. The buying experience was a pleasure as well.
  • sunsonshaan07sunsonshaan07 Member Posts: 36
I got a Limited as well around that same price but with the Platinum Edition package and a Garmin nuvi 360 Navigation system. OTD in 21850 after the 3450 rebates from HMFC for the 30 month balloon financing deal.

It looks like this is the norm lately. :shades:
  • flipflopsflipflops Member Posts: 8
Yes that is correct on my part, but I do have to ask you few questions.
Where are you coming from? What is your county tax rate? I live in Nassau County; Tax Rate is 8.625% which is higher then NYC's 8.375%
I purchased mine on February, and a source indicates that there was $1,500 dealer cash for Feb. but not march.
Seems like the rebates from last month are carried over to this month, but there is a hidden balloon incentive going around. I do suggest you study up on this, and make sure this isn't a lease cover-up writing (remember GMC's 'smart buy' for lease).
Some dealers offer you referral incentives as well, I've noticed some dealers even offering some cash incentive to new buyer, and handing some service incentive to those whom made the referral. Whatever dealer your purchasing, do keep an eye for this.
Hope this helps you buying a new Hyundai.

quick google search reveals that balloon finance is a type of lease according to official hyundai motor finance company site. directly quoting their words from their site,
    "Leasing Terms

Balloon Note: This is very similar to a lease. The difference is the vehicle is registered and insured in the customer's name. This allows customers, in states where leasing is not popular, to enjoy the same low monthly payments as with a lease. "

I'm guessing they offer you a very low buy out price once the lease term is over to make it overall better deal with balloon financing. Again, I have minimal knowledge about this, I would appreciate an expert to comment on this further.
  • delaluzdelaluz Member Posts: 48
I spoke to my salesman at Bob Dunn in Greensbor & he said that they couldn't offer the balloon rebate. Theri finance guy said that balloon loans weren't legal in NC. He did say that thye would sell for $3,000 under invoice if you took the Hyundai financing.
  • klenzklenz Member Posts: 1
The reason why HMFC offers balloon loans in Texas is because of Texas' stupid double-taxation on leases.

In Texas, tax is due on the full selling price of the car at the inception of a lease AND you must pay tax again if you buy the car at the end of the lease. So to get around this, HMFC set up a balloon loan that acts just like a lease.

I just took a Sonata GLS w/ Premium-Sport package home today with this deal. It broke down like this:

    MSRP: 20880
    HMFC Rebate: 3450
    Selling Price: 16600
    TT&L + Fees: 1520
    OTD: 18120

    $0 down, $0 due at signing, $297/mo for 29 months with a residual (balloon) of 11600. 4.35% APR and 12k miles/year.

HMFC guarantees they will refinance the balloon, or you can pay cash or finance the balloon with someone else. $400 will let you walk away at the end.

You could even take the balloon and refinance the whole thing 3 months into it just to get the huge rebates.

Can you disclose which dealer in Austin? Dealers in Houston threw me at a much higher price.

BTW, is ths 2007 Sonata GLS 4-CYL Auto (w/o XM)? Thanks.
  • vjyvjy Member Posts: 27
    Hi all,

I have a quote from one of the dealers for

    Year: 2007
    Model: Sonata
    Trim: GLS
Transmission: 4-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®
    Package: Premium-Sport Package
    Exterior Color: Steel Gray
    Interior Color: None
    Total MSRP* $20,945.00
    Our current price is: 15,640.00

This is NOT OTD proce, but I have asked them for it. Is this a good deal.

    Thanks for any inputs.
  • mshctmshct Member Posts: 4
In late February I paid $18,189 out the door including all taxes and fees for an 07 Sonata SE XM with floor mats. The rebates totaled $2500 at the time. (including owner loyalty) I had no trade.

Compared to other cars I've owned, it was an incredible deal, and the more I drive it, the more I like it.
  • vjyvjy Member Posts: 27
The dealer sent me the OTD price without breakup, but I have asked for the break up again.

I was quoted $17124.00 - OTD with preium sports package.
Is this a good deal? Or should I bargain for more.

The car price quoted was 15,640.00.

    Thanks.
  • mshctmshct Member Posts: 4
My deal had 6% sales tax. In round numbers, there is about $1000 difference between the sticker on my car and the sticker on the one you're looking at. And there's a little over $1000 difference in out the door price - so yes, I'd say it's a good deal - particularly since the rebates are a little lower now.
  • yusyus Member Posts: 2
yes, this is 2007 Sonata GLS 4-CYL Auto (w/o XM). Dealer is Classic Hyundai in Austin.
  • hotrod54hotrod54 Member Posts: 82
    I concur w/other posters...looks like a good deal. :)
  • vjyvjy Member Posts: 27
    Thanks for all the replies.

Actually I went for a test drive in fairfax. The drive was very good and I liked it. But my wife didnt like the interior dash board, she felt it as little drab. But I felt its ok. But my wife liked the roomy interior. So I was thinking of buying, but the dealer didnt have my color choice with Premium sports package. I also asked for OTD price as 16,500.

I also went for a test drive in near by area, they didnt have the color which I wanted. I quoted 16,400 OTD price. They told they will let me know when they get their next vehicles delivery.

    Lets see how this goes.
  • fenris2fenris2 Member Posts: 31
Well, I am helping my mother make a fast (hate this) purchase for her car which is just about dead (head gasket going fast + tranny issues).

On a Sonata GLS I4 automatic with no options so far I have $16,108 plus 6.75% tax but inclusive of license/title.

They are allowing a $200 on trade on top of that, which is not great, but given the old car is a '95, 119k, beat appearance and could easily grenade at any moment... meh.

Purchase would use a $259 30 month lease with 10,218 plus 6.75% tax due at turn in time (90% chance she will buy it)

    Good? Bad? Indifferent?
  • tmporttmport Member Posts: 19
I think that sounds very reasonable. Fitzmall in Maryland has the I4 auto for $15,533, not including license/title. Fitzmall, from what I can tell, has great prices; since your price is at most a few hundred more (taking license/title into consideration), I personally wouldn't have any problems with that deal.

    Hello, fenris2

Which dealer have you called? I am also in columbus, OH. So your price is after $2000 rebate? my car also has the head gasket problem. I can't image we had similar situation this close.
  • eaglewueaglewu Member Posts: 2
Would you give me the dealer phone number you called. I may go to DC to pick up the car if the price is this good.

No phone numbers in the forums, please....

I'm guessing with the dealership name, city and state... that you could find the phone number pretty easily.. ;)

Dealership is umm... looks at notes... Great Lakes Hyundai in Streetsboro, OH. Not a bad drive up from Columbus BTW as its almost 100% highway.

    Price includes all incentives.

But, its not quite the same as its not for me, its actually for my mom.. No really! After all, I would by one of their V6 demos for about $1200 more, or the I4 5 spd :shades:

The dealer we bought from in NJ had a lower price by$700-800 compared to Fitzmall. (I"m not posting their name again as I don't want to sound like a commercial for them, however their prices seem to significantly beat other dealers in the North East.)
  • vjyvjy Member Posts: 27
I talked with Fairfax Hyundai, as well as Malloy Automall in Woodbridge, VA. I might call them again this weekend to see if they have the colors and options I wanted.

    $17290 OTD

    GLS Auto w/ XM
    Premium Package
    Mud Guards
    Floormats
    Cargo Net
    Cargo Mat

So far I am very happy with the car, methinks you get a lot of car for the money

    Hi xebra,

I'm close to Pitts too and I'm interested in Sonata. A few questions
    1. Which dealership did you go? Also appreciate if you could drop me an email about the salesperon.
    2. It seems you got a good deal! Did you have any rebate such as loyalty rebate, other than the standard $2K cashback? Did you also do financing with them or have a trade-in?
    3. Did you make the deal in the end of last month?
    Thank you...
  • xebraxebra Member Posts: 9
Please email me I will get you all the details. Your email is not present in your profile. The price includes rebate. I financed thru them. I had a trade in but it was an old car. I did the deal on 4/18.
  • vjyvjy Member Posts: 27
I had a bad experience with Malloy Automall in Woodbridge, VA. The price for SOntat GLS with premium sports package was 16,500 OTD price. They kind of accepted 2 weeks back. But there was no color that I wanted.

So I called them today to check and now they are quoting it as as 18950 OTD. I really dont know why tehy increased so much. The manager just told the price increased and so on. So I just dropped the idea to get a vehicle from them. Please be careful if you are dealing with the.

Just got mine from Towne Hyundai in NJ. Take it from me - these are the guys to go to. I contacted pretty much every dealership within 100 miles of my home in CT - (New York, NJ, and CT) and no one could touch their deal. Before tax and title, I'm at 19,739. Out the door, with CT tax and DMV (cheaper on both accounts in CT) I'm out the door for 21,450. These guys were really cool - no bs, no runaround. And as I say, best price by far. Go get 'em.
(I was looking at the Azera, until I saw a promo for the new Genesis, which is coming out mid '08. Makes the Azera look like grandma's car - my guess is that the Azera will not last long past the advent of this new car. I'm absolutely getting one in late '08 or early '09. Till then, the Limited Sonata will do....)
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
You're welcome for the info. We had the same pleasant experience and Wednesday I'm driving a friend of mine down to pick up his new Azera.

If only the Bpt guys would learn something from this. However, when you need service Bpt will be quite willing to to service your car. So far I've gone to them for three oil changes and two tire rotations. They're about $30 for an oil & filter change (a little bit high for the area but the sixth change is free).

I first heard about Towne Hundai on Feb 10 at a bar. My friend, who is buying the Azera, & I were outside having a smoke and admiring an Azera in the parking lot. The owner came out to leave. Asked how he liked the car, he got going within nothing but praises for about 5 minutes even though it was 20 something degrees out. (he was from NJ) We got the name of the dealership, I got a Sonata quote on 2/16, made the deal on the phone on 2/21 and picked up the car on Saturday, 2/24. Could have gotten the car earlier but Saturday was more convenient for us.

No BS, no push from an F & I guy, no suprises. Just a nice straight forward deal.

P.S. I'm only 10 to 15 minutes away from the Bpt dealership.
  • vjyvjy Member Posts: 27
OK, finally I bought my Sonata day before yesterday. I got in from Fitzmall, MD and I felt the price was bit high, I paid 17,850 OTD price including the buyer plan (includes every other oil change free and some other discounts).

But the car is really nice to drive. I drove around 200 miles already and me, my family are enjoying it.

I also would like to know t he ideal way of breaking up an engine. Is there anything that I need to follow or just drive normally.

Again, thanks for all the help & tips you all gave me. Hope to enjoy driving the new Sonata.
