Finially found the truck I was looking for, 06 Access Cab 4x4 6sp. with TRD offroad Black, that my dealer said he could order for me. However, the dealer refuses to give me a solid price on this vehical with out me first giving him a 500 dollar deposit. This doesnt make sense to me. I have no problem putting down 500 bucks, but I am not going to make a deposit unless he can give me a solid price. All he is saying is that it will be between 27,000 and 28,000, and even those numbers he says could change, and the only way he says he will give me a price is if I put money down first. I really want the truck after finally test driving a manual, but it seems rediculous to me that he can't tell me what its really going to cost. Maybe I am being unreasonable, but every other truck I have bought salesmen have been very upfront with me. If anyone has any ideas as whether I am being unreasonable let me know. Thanks
I am in the initial phase of research for an 06 Tacoma Double Cab. I am also considering the Access Cab since it's just my wife and I. I like the look of the AC better but I'm not sure if down the road I'd be wishing I had went with the DC for the extra room and comfort it offers. Any feedback from AC owners as far as buyers remorse (wishing you had bought the DC) would be greatly appreciated.
Tell them to stick their deposit where the sun doesn't shine and take your money elsewhere. They are going to attempt to screw you. Find a non-shady dealer elsewhere and buy from them.
That's bs! I have never, ever, in all of my days in buying cars/trucks, heard any dealer say that sort of thing! It's obvious they do not want your business! Not sure who you are talking with at the dealership....but I would go straight to the top.... General Manager! Ask him/her to give you a price on the truck....if that fails....move on! If they are the only dealer around then you just have to expand your search....and oh, by the way, make sure your deposit is 100% refundable and get it in writing! Use a credit card to put the deposit down....this allows you some more protection.....if they don't deliver the truck the way you want it, in the time frame they give you....get your deposit back.....been there, done that!
Took the advice you folks were kind enough to provide and told that dealer to stuff it. Finally found a dealer in Houlton ME who was willing to cut the b/s and be straight with me. He found the truck I wanted, gave me a solid price, and offered to get it to his dealership without me putting down so much as a penny. Not only was it the best toyota purchasing experience I have ever had, but the easiest car buy experience I have had period. My Black 2006 Access Cab 4x4 6sp. is set to arrive Nov. 1st., I can't wait! Thanks everyone for your posts as this whole site has helped alot in making my decision to buy this truck. :shades:
I have searched around my state and have been quoted for the above with power windows/locks, chrome grill, a/c, cd player for $21,750 + fees. Is this a good deal? Been quoted $23,500 + fees for same truck but with TRD Off-Road package. What say ye? No state tax in Oregon!
Outstanding!!!!! Glad to hear things went better! Believe it or not there are still some dealers that want your business and it appears like you found one!! After you take delivery.....how about posting your experience..... Remember....knowledge is power.....the more we share....the more we learn!! Happy Motoring!
Not a problem! As soon as I take delivery, and believe me I am counting the days , I will post a final synopsis of my dealer experience. Like you said knowledge is power, and its the least I can do to post the rest of my experience. Thanks again all!
I'm getting close to buying my highly desired 2006 Dblcab 4x4 auto, with the SR5 #2 pkg, tow, side airbags and jbl stereo. I've been getting quotes from around the area, and most seem to be about $500 - $1000 or so over invoice. $1000 over seems like too much. Does that sound right? Anyone have any other advice/info about Portland/Salem/Vancouver, WA area dealers?
I just placed an order for a 2006 Tacoma Doublecab 4X4 with the TRD Package, side and side curtain airbags and the upgraded sound system. I was amazed (at least in Northern California) that none of the Tacomas on the dealer lots had the airbag option. While I think it is crazy that this is not standard equipment, it seems like a small price to pay for one of the most critical safety features on automobiles today. For those who own a 2006 Tacoma Doublecab, does anyone have excessive wind noise? I drove two of them before I placed the order and one seemed to have a lot more wind noise than the other.
I don't know about you, but I bought the Access Cab Tundra in 02 knowing that the Double Cab was not far down the road and regretted it from day one. Don't get me wrong, the Tundra was the best truck I have ever owned (including my current Tacoma DC) and if I could have gotten the same wheelbase with a double cab and shorter bed, I would have stayed with the Tundra. I love my DC. The space and accessability of the 4 door is second to none. It may be just you and the better half most of the time, but when you do happen to want to throw another couple in the back, you can do it knowing they are just as comfortable as you. I have a van that I can use most of the time when hauling other people, but it always happens that I want to run to the Home Depot store with a couple buddies or go to lunch with the crew and it is convenient because I have the room.
I am also in search for a 6 sp 2005 or 2006 Tacoma Doublecab 4X4. I really don't need the TRD package (not into racing or off roading) but more on snow like Utah and Lake Tahoe. Anyway, also would log the upgarde JBL system. Any reason why I should get a TRD, if not what would be the next best package - the SR-5. And if this requirements are not available on the dealer's lot, is it possible to order it thru the dealer so you really get what you want and not pay for what you don't need? do we have to pay extra to order and wait...Any recommendations on where best to buy - Las Vegas or Bay Area..I travel a lot between the two. I have an existing 4cyl 4WD 1990 4Runner 5 sp manual and about time to feel that V6 how it feels downshifting to a lower gear...
I need price you paid for the above with the TRD, or with the Sport package or the SR-5 package.
If the dealers do not have exactly what you want, it is very easy to place an order. You should not expect to pay any additional if you order it versus if it is on the dealers lot. If that is what the dealer tells you, I would walk. It shouldn't take any longer than 4 to 6 weeks from the time you place the order. The SR5 package is fine. For me, the seats that come with the TRD package offer greater support and are more comfortable. I would not expect to pay any more than $500 over invoice.
Was getting some internet quotes for a new Ford vehicle recently and the salespeople I spoke with on the phone seemed just as eager to quote a low price on a special order after they realized none of the vehicles in their (or other dealer's) inventory met my needs.
Hi all, I am looking at buying a 2006 Tacoma PreRunner Access Cab 4Cyl Manual, with SR5 Package and Alloy wheels. I have been looking on the net and found that it probably will cost me around $20,500 or so.
I have not been to any dealers yet. I hate the dealer experience! What's a "fair" out the door price for this truck? Thx for any suggestions!
I'm starting to look at getting a 2006 DC 4x4 LB in speedway blue sometime next year in the March - July timeframe. Does anyone know when Toyota will quit making the 06 and go into the 07 model year? I wouldn't say no to an 07 as long as they still have the same blue.
Oh, yes Fred Haas Dealership is a joke. I recently shopped and got about 6-8 quotes. Most were via the internet. I actually got one from Fred Haas via a salesman on the floor and a couple of days later got smart and shopped the internet and got many other including one via the internet with Fred Haas. The internet quote was more than the walk-in. Therefore I went back. My quote was 26500 out the door for a Tacoma 4x4 DC SR5pkg2 Manual. Then when I went back to purchase the vehicle the salesman denied giving me that quote. I actually nailed him and told him how I had called him back to confirm it being pkg #2. His excuse was they could not get me financing. Funny thing is everyone else is. They do not deserve the financially qualified customers they are getting. For I know another guy who bought a prerunner from them and paid about what I was quoted and of course was not a 4x4. Before meeting him I thought it was just a woman problem, but it isn't. They are jerks to everyone. It shouldbe considered customer abuse. By the way they weren't the lowest quote I got, they are just the dealer closest to my home and had already ran my credit.
Looking to purchase a tacoma double cab 4x4 pkg 2 around Houston. Has anyone bought or been quoted on one here recently? If so, what did you pay or quoted? What a job! Thank you.
I spent the last 8 months researching exactly what I wanted in a Tacoma. My research consisted of all major reviews, plus the thousands of posts here at edmunds.com.
I sent out email to 45 different toyota dealerships at the same time detailing exactly what option I wanted no the truck. In the mail I requested from each dealer the lowest out the door price including the price of the truck, Doc Fees (if any), Tax, Tag & Title. I said in the email that the dealership with lowest price on Thursday would get my business on Friday.
I created a spreadsheet and kept track of the quotes as they came in so that the 1st lowest price would get the business. The price quotes varied as much as $2800. Some dealers never responded, but most sent quotes within 48 hrs. On Thursday I called all the dealerships that were within $500 of the lowest price. All but 2 conceeded. The one I bought from and the other quoted 48 hrs later than the other but was within $25, to be fair I went with the first price.
The Tacoma I spec'd was as follows:
2006 Tacoma PreRunner 4x2 Double Cab Long Bed SR5#2 (Keyless, Cruise, Tint, Etc) V6 Toyota Towing Package Side Curtain Airbags All Weather Floor Mats Day Time Running Lights
The price I paid at Jim Hudson Toyota in Irmo, SC (Near Columbia, SC) was $23810 for the truck + $189 Doc Fee = $23,999. I did almost everything via email with the exception of a few phone calls. The MSRP on this truck's sticker was $26159.
I arrived at the dealership this past Saturday at 10:45 am and I drove out with all paperwork completed at 12:04 PM.
Now that sounds like a great deal.I have been trying to locate one just like that, and fine without the towing pak.Dealer not far from me told me he found one in Virginia,(I'm in South Jersey) He told me "like 24,5" and then proceeded to tell me he was only going to give me 12.5 for my 03 sierra 4x2 with extended cab, leer cap, rhino liner with 42,000 miles. I'll keep shopping till I come up with something.
I researched Jim Hudson, they seem to have nice selection of trucks with what I'm looking for.The only problem is,they are almost 700 miles away from here (over 11hr road trip)I also found them in NC,as well as Virginia. The dealerships up here order mostly 4x4's.I'm going to have to consider a road trip at the end of the month if I can't locate one near south jersey.
Tacoma Double Cab V6, 6 Speed, TRD Off Road, Tow Package, 6-Disc CD Skid Plate, Tint and a couple other extras.
Got 4% over invoice. Total was $27,700; tax and title brought it up to 29,500.
Painless purchase at Sterling McCall Toyota. I showed up, told them what I wanted and they looked up the assembly line schedule until they found one. Got it a few days before schedule. Note that the vehicles caome from the factory with just the basics such as TRD and Stereo Packages. Anything noted as port options (PIO) can be added or removed.
Yes i agree with you totally. Fred Haas Toyota in Houston is the worst in customer service. I came in there looking for a new car for my cousin. They said they a wide selection to pick from. I turned out they only had 2 in the lot. Their reason was i might have mis-heard them on the phone. When i came to price, they said that they could only do for (-100) from msrp. If i wanted the car with the price they would have the used one. I got sick at this dealership. I will never shop their again. Go somewhere else for better C.S & price
I just purchased a 2006 Tacoma Doublecab 4X4 and I am looking for the best price available on the Toyota Extra Care Platinum Extended Warranty, 7 year, 100,000 miles with $0 deductible. I have searched the posts and found several indicating that Toyota of Greenfield has good prices. From what I have read the price should be around $875. I just e:mailed Troy and that dealership and asked for a quote. Does anyone have recent experience with purchasing this warranty and how much were you able to negotiate? Thank you in advance. Wes
I bought that exact warranty from the person you mention back in March for my 05 Avalon, think it was 895. My dealer would let me have it for 1,450.00 so it saved me a bunch.
look into Thompson Toyota (www.thompsonautomotive.com) in Edgewood MD they had two 06 prerunner DC LB and one 05 prerunner DC LB listed on their web. I had the same problem finding a prerunner in south jersey so I went to MD. Turnerville toyota said they can get the truck from MD for $800.00 (email pricing) over invoice. Good Luck
Thanks for the info.I just got off the phone with a dealer in NC.I'll check this out as well, alot closer to MD than NC.Trouble is in SJ they tend to sell more 4x4's and they just don't get many prerunners in around here.
After shopping for a year, I finally picked up my Tacoma today.
2006 Tacoma, V6, Auto, 4x4, Double Cab in Silver Mica SR5 #2 (Keyless entry, power windows, etc) Tow Package 16" Alloy wheels Chromo running boards
I got it for $25,950 before Tax, Title and Doc. I did a huge amount of homework on it and thought this was a pretty good price considering the South East fee. Still nervous since this is the first new vehicle I'm purchased and the first change in vehicles in over 8 years.
After a ton of research, I purchased a new Tacoma today.
2006 Tacoma, V6, Auto, 4x2, Double Cab TRD Sport Package Tow Package 6 Disk Changer Glass Etch extra-mile option pkg B vehicle shield package
For $24,850 plus ttl from DonMcGill in Katy. Invoice was $25,707 and I believe I got a good deal. I had actually negotiated a deal via internet and phone with the other Don Mcgill but ended up at the Katy location. This is my very first new vehicle and I am pretty excited. Very pleasant experience dealing with DonMcGill of Katy.
I too am in the Tampa area & heading to snow country,I am planning to buy a similar vehicle but 4x4.Were you happy with the deal you made ,close to invoice? Tampa dealer?Any thoughts or recomendations appreciated.
I just bought a 2006 Tacoma ext. cab with sport and towing packages at invoice plus $100.00 at Alexandria (VA) Toyota. Happy with the price and sales people.
I purchased Toyota' platinum 7 yr. 70,000 extended warrantee at @ $1400.00 bundled into their 5.7% financing, which bested my 6.2 % USAA pre-approved rate.
My insurance co (Geico), is offering me a service repair insurance for 7 yr. 100,000 miles at @ $50.00/year and a $250.00 deducible.
Which one makes more sense? Any input or discussion about this greatly appreciated. I can cancel the extended warrantee.
Bought at the last day of 2005, figured it would give the salespeople a bigger incentive.
The truck was a 2006 Double Cab Long Bed 2x4 came with: -Tow Package -16" Alloy Wheels -Limited Slip Differential -SR5 Package #2 -50 State Emission -Carpet Floor Mats and Door Sill
The total paid out the door nothing more was $25,900.
This is just your base 4 banger pick up truck I'm thinking about buying. This is the dealer's last 2005 car of any kind. I'm in Chicago, so trucks are tough to move too. The vehicle is an automatic with the HE package. It also includes floor mats (CH). I should mention sales tax is high around here (8%). My OTD price I negotiated is $15700 (includes everything). On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate this price based on the previous factors. Thanks in advance.
Where did you buy that from? Also when compared to mine it seems like you would get a better deal. Do you agree? Also is there any difference between getting the prerunner? Is it just the body style? Thanks.
Am looking at an '05 Tacoma access cab on my local dealers lot. It's the last '05 left, a base 4x4 model with a sticker price of $23,900. He's asking sticker price, says it's a popular model with no incentives. But why has it been sitting on his lot unsold for months? What is a fair price to offer for this vehicle? Can't get invoice on '05s anymore on TMV. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I bought mine at Elmore Toyota in Westminster, CA (socal). The MSRP was $16700, my price was $15,550. with option #2. Another dealer's quote was the same at $15,550 with the MSRP at $17,300. I bought mine before receiving the quote. Prerunner has larger 245/75/16 alloy wheels, sits higher than the regular model. You should checkout all the Tacoma models at Toyota website, mine is (7131) model
I am currently shopping for an '06 Tacoma 2x4 w/ sport package #2, which includes tow. However, I've had a hard gettting the JBL system ordered with the truck which is a deal breaker for me. Any suggestions?
I've always wanted a Toyota 4x4 and I am finally getting one. Tomorrow I am going to pick up my 4x4 regular cab with SR5 pkg #1 for $18,988 + $97 "processing fee". Although this is discounted to a couple hundred above invoice, I still feel these trucks are pricey.. I am still waiting for a final rate on the financing but they are saying 6.55 at most.
I love the regular cab 4x4 with the SR5. It fits me like a glove, everything from the ergonomics to the solid feel. I wanted the regular cab for maneuverability and I prefer 4-cylinder engines. Other manufacturers are not offering this combination: reg. cab 4x4 with 4cyl.
This truck is super tight. The seats are awesome, I like the feel of the clutch and shifter, good stereo. And I hate keyless entry and power windows, which it won't have.
I actually like the dial for controlling the transfer case, although it has an annoying warning beep in low range.
I will have to add an aftermarket cruise control from the dealer since it's not a factory option in this trim.
Anyways, I hope under $19000 is a good deal. So far I'm having a good dealership experience at Molle Toyota in Kansas City, MO. Hope it stays good all through driving off the lot.
